IF I could give a negative * rating, then I would. All I can say is: BUYER...BEWARE!!
I will tell you my experience & you make up your own mind on whether you want to use this company...I purchased a colored, 26 gauge metal roof in 2003 from Elliott Bates, n/k/a Associated Contractors/ Elliot Bates Roofing. The metal roof was a metal from manufacturer "Union". It has a 25 year warranty on color. It has changed color from Brown to cream. First let me say that "Union" was very nice & seems to be trying to honor the warranty, but they need additional info from the roofer.
I called Associated/Bates office, & had the misfortune of speaking to a RUDE secretary, Julia, who said she would look for the original invoice & contact Mr. Bates. (I never got a copy- but have a copy of my checks). She also said she would contact Mr Bates & ask him to call me. That was 2 wk. ago. Now she calls me a liar, & says no, she did not say she would look for the invoice, told me she did not have invoices that far back but did tell Mr. Bates. Neither one of them ever called me back, AND when I went to the office to see Mr. Bates, she locked her door when we pulled up & I walked up to the glass door & she would not let me in, said she would call Mr Bates again, & refused to give me his #, & said she can't find a invoice because records only go back to 2011. Why don't they keep records for the length of the warranty? All I wanted from Mr. Bates was a copy of my invoice, ask him who he purchased the metal from (his supplier), so I could contact the appropriate office for a copy of his order for my roof, & a written statement from him as to the exact product I purchased if he did not have the invoice,, so I could follow-up with the corporate office for Union. Thank goodness I kept the original warranty sheet & cancelled checks & found some contact info on it but not specific details regarding the product I purchased. IF you get a roof from this guy, just know you will NOT receive any call back if you have a problem even if all you want is contact info.if they treat you like they did me. Once they get your money, you may be on your own, if you are treated as we have been. Better to find you someone else, is my opinion & word to the wise. And I thought Mr Bates was an honest Christian businessman, but I will have to wait & see if I was right or wrong. Not looking too good right now. You be the judge, Was supposed to be brown roof, not cream.
