American Southern Roofing brought my vision into reality! I have a unique flat rooftop patio above my garage, which until recently was unusable space. Clayton from American Southern Roofing came out and discussed several different options with me, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Not only did they re seal my entire flat roof with a 20 year silicone product, they also ordered and installed a rubber paver system on the rooftop patio, which made it safe to walk on and gave it a great finished look. I'd definitely recommend Clayton and American Southern Roofing to everyone!

If I could have gave 0 stars I would. Called to get a repair done around my chimney. Very quick To come see the repair and then it just got worse. Two weeks later they finally showed up and fixed most of the repair but left a piece of wood out that was supposed to be replaced and they broke off more and left. Had to get the sales rep to get the owner on the phone due to the repair crew and the sales rep not communicating. Then another week goes by still not repaired correctly. Then when they finally showed up No equipment to get on the roof or caulking to do the job right, I will never do business with this company again. Poor communication, poor workmanship and service was just flat out terrible. Not worth the hassle.

This roofing company was outstanding. They were able to get my insurance company to approve my claim when others couldn't. They are friendly, professional and reliable. The replacement roof was done in one day and the clean up was flawless. I highly recommend American Southern Roofing. Jim and his team ROCKS!

Job was well done. Their crew led by Caesar was outstanding and the work was quality. Showed up early and the clean up was on point. There were some start date concerns but I think most of those arose from COVID complication and the rainy weather earlier in the year.
During the construction process tear down went well and although tons of debris that is expected with a large roof like ours. They got it done in a day, had solid quality control and even replaced much more decking boards than in the original contract since damaged showed during tear down. Hunter, the original sold project manager was very responsive prior to install.
I would recommend them to anyone considering a roof in the Flowery Branch area.

My experience with American Southern Roofing was great. They took care of everything for me including my insurance company. All I had to do was sit back and wait for my new roof to be placed. The roof itself came out great and they worked through the insurance company very well. That part was very easy for us. They did all the legwork.

The tear-down of the old roof was obviously a messy process. There was a lot of debris. The siding was left with some knicks and scrapes. However, the American Southern team reached out after the job was done to see if there were any issues. I showed them the damage and they were able to clean up the spots nicely. Great response by their team!

I was sold materials that are no longer covered by a warranty. I was promised a 30 year warranty and ended up with no warranty. Contacted them numerous times only to get an empty promise of a warranty. It has been 6 months and still no warranty. I had to hire an attorney to fight for my warranty.
As of 5-19-20 I still haven't received my warranty information and my window screens have not been replaced.

The team was amazing! Jim Miller was great to work with on my residential roof. Brandon who did the inspection and measurements was very informative on what issues he saw.

They did our roof really fast which was great! The downfall is that they left so many nails that I had to continually pick up! And every time it rained more would come from our gutters unto our garage pad..ugh. Had to replace 2 tires . also they broke a flashing piece near the front.
After they did roof and left, it was hard to reach them to have them correct the problem.

As a response to the company reply, The last name on the actual project is Parker, not Lain. So I know exactly who did the job as I have the actual contract.
I would never mix up a company that I do a review on.

I probably had 20 different roofing companies knock on my door (typically during dinner) to inform me I had "discontinuous shingles" on my roof, and that they could get my roof replaced for free! You've heard the pitch.

I turned every one of these companies away.

Late one afternoon, as my next-door neighbor was getting HIS roof replaced, I went to my mailbox to collect my mail. Sure enough, a guy from American Southern Roofing (the site manager) stepped out of his truck and walked towards me. "Another pitch!", I thought, and I told the guy I really wasn't in the mood.

For whatever reason, though, I listened as Dave talked to me about my roof. "Do I have discontinuous shingles?", I asked. "No, I don't see any visible damage", but your neighbor had wind damage, and since you have the same kind of roof, there's a good chance you do, too."

Finally, I didn't feel schmoozed, just talked to.

Fast forward: these guys are pretty great, particularly Dave Hickerstein, the site manager - a very genuine and decent guy.

The pros:

The team they contracted to do the job (everyone contracts) was a team they work with a lot of the time, and the work they did was excellent. The new roof looks great, and I don't have to worry about those stupid pipe boots leaking ever again.

Dave Hickerstein - I specifically requested Dave for my job, because I felt he was trustworthy. For the little things that happened during the replacement (inevitable), Dave made sure the problems were resolved.

The cons:

Although the roofing guys themselves were efficient and covered the plants near the house with tarps, the shingles they removed still flattened/destroyed several of my plants. I don't know what would be the right way to protect landscaping, but just know these casualties will likely occur.

The pine planks that make up the steps leading down from my deck got damaged - about 5 of them. Chips or chunks came out of the steps, and I could only guess it was from dragging a tarp full of old shingles down the steps.

But again, American Southern Roofing made sure the problems were taken care of. Both Dave and Jim Miller chipped in to get the situation sewn up.

So, 5 stars - yes. I've been around long enough to know that "things happen", whenever work gets done on my house. It's the quality of the work and how the company responds to issues that determines their rating.

We had a 20 year old roof that had some storm damage. We had recently changed homeowners insurance so we were unsure of the prospect of getting a roof replacement. We received a letter from American Southern stating that they guaranteed they could get our roof replaced or they would give us $1000 dollars for our time. Suffice it to say, once we gave American Southern permission to handle our claim, everything went smoothly from there. We recieved our first check for the roof replacement about a month later. Once they started the roof replacement, they were done in two days, which is pretty good considering the size of our house. The representatives that we worked with were courteous and knowledgeable. The laborers were very skilled and cleaned up all the trash in the yard before leaving. We also recieved a 50 warranty on the roof, which is a great selling point if we decide to sell the house. I would recommend their company for anyone considering a roof replacement.

Tyler followed through on everything as promised. Installers were some what reckless and broken or destroyed a couple items, but Tyler stood behind and reimbursed or fixed items. Overall satisfaction was very good.

Sure made the process of replacing my roof easy, issues with my own insurance company complicated the situation ... No fault of their's

The good- The work done was very professional and very good so far. The repairs were excellent. Pricing was definitely fair

The bad- the planning was a bit disappointing. The specialty shingles that were needed for the repairs were already available at the house. Nevertheless I was told that more were needed and had to be special ordered despite calling to clarify. Eventually the shingles that were already available in the house were never used! I was told the entire roof was also inspected during the initial evaluation and not just the area that needed repairs. It turned out the roofer who evaluated had really not done so. Only upon persisting did they accept that it was not inspected and did it the second time around. Please improve your inspection and planning work so costs can be kept down, repairs are not delayed and materials are not wasted

American Southern cared for us throughout the claim process to help us upgrade from the damaged Atlas Chalet product we had on our house. Thanks to their staff who worked directly with the insurance adjuster to make all things come together. Final project looks great too!

We needed some work done on our roof. This company took care entirely of replacing our roof in a very professional manner. They worked clean, did a quality job and besides that, were very nice. This was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor in any trade period! Jim handled my questions and concerns with patience and expertise. I was not sure how long the project would take but to my surprise the work was done quickly and unlike many of the other trades I have dealt with in the past they cleaned up afterwards like they were never there! This review is not meant in any regards as negative about the subcontractors used to install the roof. The work appears to be fine. This review is for educational purposes only. Before you get involved with any roofing company, DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
1. If you are asked to sign any agreement, especially a contingency agreement, DON'T DO IT. They are unnecessary .
2. If you are told you need to use their PUBLIC ADJUSTER because you may have problems with the insurance company, you are being led astray. DON'T DO IT. A public adjuster has no authority what so ever to enforce anything or prove anything. And you are giving away money to him or her for absolutely nothing that you couldn't do yourself. Learned this the hard way. Public adjusters do not work for you, they work for the money the roofing company promises them.
3. If the roofing company tells you they will replace your roof for what ever the insurance company pays, DON'T DO IT. 9 times out of 10 the insurance company is paying $2000.00-$3000.00 more than what it will actually cost to replace your roof, and guess who will keep that money. Not you.
4. Get 3 estimates before you agree with any company, you will see exactly how much more it cost when you blindly agree just to allow them to collect the entire amount for a roof. If they refuse to give you an estimate and claim they will only do the job for what the insurance pays, YOU ARE GETTING A VERY BAD DEAL.
5. If a roofer ask you to endorse the check the insurance company gives for the work, DON'T DO IT. Negotiate a price before the work begins. If they refuse to negotiate, TELL THEM GOODBYE.
More education about Public Adjusters below and why not to use one:

As a busy roofing contractor, you don’t have time to mess around. If an insurance company won’t buy a roof, you’ve wasted time you could have spent seeking other jobs. To “buy time,” it might be tempting to have a Public Insurance Adjuster (PA) make the claim on your client’s behalf. But in doing so, you could be doing a disservice to your client and yourself; here’s why:

PA’s lock homeowners into a contract to submit the claim on the property owner’s behalf. PA’s should submit a comprehensive claim promptly and should diligently follow-up until a decision is reached. They have no special ability to expedite a decision, nor can they do anything to improve the odds of an approval.

If the claim is denied – that’s it, game over. The PA can’t provide legal advice as they aren’t attorneys. All they can do is recommend that an attorney get involved. When one does, the PA will still require payment of their 10%+ out of the proceeds even though they personally weren’t able to get the claim paid.

As is true for any profession there are some crooked public adjusters, but most are fine professionals – they just aren’t necessary! Governor Greg Abbott even issued a Consumer Alert when he was the Attorney General of Texas stating that:

“Most consumers do not need to pay a consultant or public adjuster to obtain the amount owed to them under their policies. I would urge you to avoid sharing your much-needed settlement with a third party if you can reach a satisfactory settlement on your own.” He also states, “[If] you believe you are not being offered a fair deal by your insurer, you may wish to speak with a qualified private attorney of your choice about your options.”

So instead of locking you and your client into what can be a bad situation, give them this sound advice instead:

Do a little homework. Research tips on how to file a homeowner’s claim. Taking a few minutes to educate yourself on how to communicate with your insurance company can pay big dividends in the amount recovered.
File the claim yourself. Yes, it will take a little time, but not much more than hiring a PA. As the property owner, you have just as much influence as a PA with the insurance company, so the odds of getting the claim approved aren’t diminished at all.

American Southern Roofing has excellent customer service and my roof looks fantastic. Pros: Very consistent in updating my husband and I during each process that was taking place. Flexible with working around your schedule to finalize decisions. Very personable and professional during quick house call visits. I especially appreciated the effort that was put in to remind me of task that needed to be completed by me and my husband to help push us along to meet our deadline. Cons: Our final roof color decision was overlooked and our second choice was ordered and applied instead. The representative was very sincere and gave us a few perks to try to compensate for the error. Overall it was a good experience working with them. I would recommend them.

When we found out our roofing shingles were the recalled/discontinued ATLAS Chalet shingles a while ago after a pretty bad hail storm I tried to get them replaced, but my insurance company only wanted to cover the cost of replacing the shingles their insurance adjuster said were damaged instead. After several different roofing companies tried (and failed) to get my roof replaced, I was skeptical when Jim from American Southern Roofing showed up and guaranteed they would be able to help me. Apparently one of the missing key ingredients (among others) that all the other roofing companies did not have was their own personal insurance claims adjuster on staff who knew what he was doing. Once I arranged for the American Southern Roofing inspector to be on my roof at the same time as the insurance company’s adjuster it was really just a matter of minutes before their insurance adjuster drove off in frustration while the ASR adjuster laughed and informed me that my roof replacement was as good as done. It didn’t take long after that showdown on my roof before the materials appeared in my drive way and a new roof was on my house. One of the best parts of the work performed by American Southern Roofing is that all aspects of the roof and materials are GAF warrantied! Jim and Brandon went out of their way to ensure a top quality job was performed, and made sure to stop by several times after completion to check up and ensure I was completely satisfied. I can honestly say that when Jim tells you he will do something, consider it done. Thank you ASR!

American Southern Roofing company noticed we needed our roof to be replaced as they were doing most of the homes in our neighborhood. After speaking with several competing companies we understood why most of our neighbors chose them. From start to finish they provided great customer service. They came out for an inspection and setup a date quickly. Their team was prompt and worked hard. Even afterwards they had an inspector come out and check the work and go over our whole property to remove all trash and debris and any nails. From the beginning they were thorough and hospitable. This process was seamless. Their adjuster was onsite to meet the insurance company and make sure the old roof was replaced. They did a great job from start to finish. They made sure the product was installed correctly and the customer service was great.
