Justin was quick to respond to my call and was able to do the inspection within days. He was thorough and complete and the written report described everything found and had clear pictures. Would definitely use again.

Scheduling the inspection was easy and Justin arrived early to the appointment, already inspecting the outside of the home when I arrived. Justin did the home inspectionn for me for our newly built house in Charles Town, WV. I had to re-schedule the inspection many times due to delay in construction. He accomodated all my requests and did the inspection in a timely manner. He is very professional and has all the right tools for the job. I have been amazed by his eye for the details. I had originally given 5 stars but that was before I moved into my house and have had nothing but issues that we jot reported on the inspection. The water heater was missing the pan and exhaust part which means it wasn't installed correctly and a new one had to be purchased within a month of moving in. There was no mention of how badly the front and back doors were installed and snow blew through the front door during the snow storm. Now, the doors don't open and close and there are gaps all around both doors. You can tell they just did what was needed to get the door to be added to a frame that was too big. He downplayed the role of how bad the windows were. He made it sound like they were just cosmetic and a few broken clips that could be purchased at home depot to fix them. He covered himself by stating after that a professional should look at them but why would I need a professional over a few broken clips and cosmetic issues. The windows all have caulking that doesn't stop the cold air from coming in and they are not in good shape at all. There are cracks all around the framing. He should have put that they most likely needed to be replaced so I could make an informed decision. If I had known the seriousness of how damaged the windows were, I would have reconsidered buying the house or renovated the contract. I have had to put so much extra money into the house that I was not expecting. I was relying on him to tell me what was wrong with the house and what would need to be replaced since he is supposed to be the expert. Telling someone to get a window representative for cosmetic issues and broken clips seemed excessive. That was to cover his ass but it didn't tell me how bad the windows were and that they really needed to be replaced along with the front and back doors. I would not recommend using him unless you are prepared to pay for items he doesn't think are important enough to tell the truth about and that you won't find out about until you move in your home.

This has made something that was supposed to be a happy time in my life and turned it into a nightmare. He knows exactly what he did and when I called him on it he said he was glad I had someone come out. I didnt have someone come out because of his report but because of all the air blowing through the windows that I now know what to look for, he should have mentioned everything I have mentioned. No photos of the cracks and thecaulking that had been added and readded. There are cracks all along the window frame and door frames but he didnt think it was important to mention any of this. I definitely would have found another home to buy if I had been told the truth. Now I am stuck with a house I dont want because my electric bill is triple for a house my size and it is always cold.

So, not only did he not do his job, he tried to make excuses about it. He couldnt pay me to use him to inspect a house I was interested in buying because I know he wouldnt tell me the truth about the big ticket items that needed fixing.

I hope this helps someone else from putting their faith in him to tell you if the house is worth buying because of the massive costly items that need to be replaced

Justin was not only punctual, but early. He gave me the option to shadow him if I would like, and was extremely knowledgeable and could answer my "off the wall" questions.

Recently used Alwin Home Inspection for a pre-purchase inspection for a house I am purchasing from out-of-state. Not being able to be there in-person, I really needed an inspector who could be communicative and provide a detailed report with pictures and recommendations to guide my decision-making and negotiating processes. Justin was great! I was able to text/e-mail questions I had and the report he produced was very useful and intuitive. It had plenty of pictures and videos detailing any issues that were found.
