High praises to Alex von Guggenberg I hired to solve a problem with removing a built-in dishwasher that was stuck in place due to the floor/counter height configuration. Not only did he get it out, he also creatively solved a reoccurrence of the problem. He further proved to be knowledgeable, super reliable and careful. In summary, old school just the way I like it :-).

If you want an thorough and highly experienced professional, this is the company for you. In addressing a leak from our upstairs bathroom to our downstairs LR and large stain, he used a fiber optic camera first, saw some issues, then identified possible sources of the leak in the bathroom spigot and surrounding rotted tiles- then cut as small an opening into the drywall as possible to further assess the situation. Very thorough, and after he made the necessary repairs, problem solved . Highly recommend

We’ve had Alex to our home, once to hardwire a new microwave into our kitchen and most recently to fix an improperly installed dishwasher, close off a inoperable vent to the outside, install a new hydraulic door closer, and provide recommendations for LED and fluorescent lighting. We highly recommend him. He is skilled in many types of home repair and thorough in his work. It is. great to have someone you trust to take care of your home.

Alexandria Home Improvement has helped me with quite a few projects over the years. Everything from drywall to hanging light fixtures to porch renovation to assembling furniture and clearing drains. Alex is always prompt and efficient. I remember a few times that he would find small things to fix while waiting for paint to dry. I appreciated that so much. A lot of contractors would have sat in their truck while they waited, but not Alex. Highly recommend!

My experience with Nancy and Alex was outstanding! I left a voicemail and sent an email in the morning and received a phone call back in the afternoon. I believe they really cared about my situation and encouraged me to send pictures and a video to help better judge what may be happening. Alex came out shortly after the phone call. Alex was able to demo the molding and remove the cabinet doors of our old tv closet above our fireplace in the living room. He did an excellent job of drywalling over the cabinet opening, painting the surface and then hanging our brand new Samsung Frame TV. He was able to leave an opening behind the tv for us to reach the outlet and hide the TV wires. It was not a simple job, and he executed perfectly.

We will definitely hire him again and would highly recommend him to friends and family!

This is the first review I have ever written and we are so thankful to Nancy and Alex for the coordination and execution of several home repairs for us. We are so relieved to have someone we can call on and trust to do an amazing and professional job with super fair pricing. I'll start with our 100 plus year old front door. It has a mortise lock and our doorknob stopped functioning properly. We had three different locksmiths and one person who specializes in repairing old doors look at it. They either told us it couldn't be repaired, ghosted us, or made bad repairs that contributed to further issues. Alex looked at it and was able to fix it in around 30 minutes. It was the first time we have been able to shut our door without having to lock it to keep it from blowing open in almost a year! On the same visit, Alex fixed multiple issues including water damage outside of our French doors and replacing weather stripping on three doors, fixing several kitchen drawers and lazy susans that weren't opening and closing properly, and fixing our bathroom door so that it shuts completely and can be locked. We've been pushing a stool in front of it for almost two years because we couldn't get it to shut properly! We are already working on our next wishlist of repairs for Alex and happy to support a family business and veteran! Can't recommend Alexandria Home Improvement enough!

Alex did a terrific job on several projects throughout our house. He is prompt, courteous, professional, thorough, and obviously talented. In just a few hours, he secured a loose handrail on our basement stairs, fixed a broken doorbell, replaced a commode bolt, replaced the gliding tracks on several kitchen drawers, and rebuilt a kitchen drawer than had completely come apart.
The whole process of working with Nancy and Alex was easy and accomplished very quickly, from scheduling to getting estimates, to paying by Venmo, and getting a receipt right away. I will be very glad to hire Alex again.

Nancy was very responsive in booking an appointment and Alex went above and beyond to make sure that the house was in working order before we moved in. He was able to make a wide range of repairs including sink kits, shower spouts, exhaust pipes, tiling, shelving, deadbolts, ceiling fans, door handles, installing blinds and CO detectors and more. With the purchase of a new dishwasher, came the installation service included, for an extra fee, of course. As the installers started to perform the hauling of the old dishwasher, they find out that the wood floor needed to be either cut or removed, they also stated a GIF under the sink will need to be installed and also the shut off valve be replaced. They were willing to do all of that for an extra fee of course. I quickly started my search in google to find someone who could help with the floor situation. This is when I found Alex, the business owner. Alex came and helped with taking apart the floor, without any cutting, and also ended up replacing the shut off as well as installing the dishwasher without a new GIF. He also was able to put the floor back together, at the end, it all looked like nothing was removed or broken. We ended up getting the refund from the other installing company.

Three days later, on a Saturday morning, we had a water flooding coming from our Master Bathroom, which its dripping caused the living room ceiling to get wet. I called Alex mid morning, he came late Saturday afternoon and spent two hours with us fixing the toilet in the Master Bathroom, where he replaced the foam ring for every knob and water tank fill out valve and flapper. It all was taking care right there for us, we even ended up getting a discount from Alex on the final bill. We already have plans for Alex to come back and take a look at the living room ceiling when dry to get his opinion if anything needing work for that.

We truly recommend this business and Alex without any hesitation. We now have his cell number saved in our favorites. Thank you Alex for the great work, but mostly for your responsiveness and being on time. Grazie!!

Alex came by to give us an estimate on Monday, Feb 28 (we contacted AHI on Friday Feb 25), to our amazement Alex completed the job the same day! And it was Alex's day off. Alex von Guggenberg did an outstanding job of reinstalling our front storm door with new hinges, installing and adjusting a new door closer and aligning the door handle's strike plate to allow for perfect automatic door closure. He also did an excellent job of reinstalling interior, wooden shutters on a double-hung bedroom window. The reinstallation work required him to plane the center post for the wooden shutters to make it smooth and an appropriate fit with the new window and its molding, remove screws used for the prior installation, reinstall the shutters and caulk for a finished appearance. Alex was very professional and meticulously performed all of the required work at a fair price. In the future, we will use Alex for all of our home projects and highly recommend him to others.

Work done included installing 2 handicapped ramps with handrails, repaired a door that wasn't closing correctly, repaired lights that were flickering and installed Wireless security cameras around the entire perimeter of my home. Each job was done exceedingly well and in a timely manner. I appreciated being included during each job and having everything explained to me. All areas were left clean and tidy. Great - service! Quotes come via email and you can sign the approval right there. Scheduling is easy and quick. More importantly the work is meticulous. I had all my curtains removed from one house and installed in a new one. I had an enormous TV wall bracket removed and all dry wall repaired. I also had an Elfa closet built in my new house. All went well with ease.

I met Alex while at the hardware store when he overheard me talking to the store associate about a leak I needed to fix under my kitchen sink. He walked over to offer some guidance. During our conversation I learned that he had a home improvement business and asked him if he would be willing to help with the job. He made it over that same day and fixed the problem in no time. Alex is outstanding, good value, responsive. Our condo shower had been leaking into the apartment below due to longstanding deterioration of shower grout and moisture rotting the drywall behind the tile. After seeking out bathroom tilers and bathroom remodelers who weren't available for months (or in one case was going to redo the entire bathroom) I went to Alexandria Home Improvement, who was available pretty quickly, did a one hour assessment of what was needed, and figured out that only the lower part of the tile and wallboard needed replacing. Scheduling was easy and he did the work in less than a day. Outstanding job, fair price, he explained exactly what the problem was and what was needed. He also did several other small jobs along the way quickly and efficiently including replacing tub faucet turnoff, cleaning excessive mold around tub and shower area, recaulking both tub and kitchen counter areas, fixing broken light fixture, replacing ceiling exhaust fan cover and overhead bathroom light, and repairing toilet flush. As with my other times having Alexandria Home Improvement do work, he knows what he is doing, explains the problem and solution in ways I can understand, is easy to schedule, and does an outstanding job at a fair price.

Alex worked on the front door so that it would hang properly in the door frame. Over the years it had become slightly askew, so we had a air gap at the top of the door where it didn't seal against the frame. He did a good job; that door is solidly mounted now. Also he fixed the loose deadbolt and lock mount while he was here.

I would like to share my experience with Alex of Alexandria Home Improvement. I had overloaded a circuit and lost power to my kitchen and dining room. Here I am with a fridge full of food and no power.

I fiddled with the circuit breakers and they all seemed OK yet I still didn't have power. Alex came to my aid and walked me through a more through check and like magic I again had power. He saved me a expensive service call on a holiday weekend. Top notch company that can fix many things.

We recently contacted Alex based on his excellent reputation for help with our medium-sized shed, which was built by another contractor (now AWOL) late last year and was leaking every time it rained. Alex came by in a timely manner and performed a thorough evaluation, pointing out a number of flaws in the way the shed’s roof had been built, and also pointed out other problems that could shorten the life of the shed over the long term. He offered easy solutions for those problems, and linked us up with an excellent roofer who rebuilt the entire roof and fixed every problem. Very quality work and all for a very fair and reasonable price. Alex is the most accessible contractor I’ve ever worked with and he is very honest — clearly wanting want is best for his customers. He’ll be our first go-to person for any additional projects or repairs, and we highly recommend him to others, without hesitation.

Alex did a great job replacing my range hood. It was a little more complicated than the average replacement as the hood went up into the cabinet over the stove and then was vented to the outside. I needed to have the vent size increased from 4" to 6" to accommodate the additional CFM of the new range hood. I had alot of difficulty finding anyone that could do this type of work. Not only was Alex willing to take it on, he was prepared with all the right parts and did a great job cutting a larger hole through aluminum siding, brick and cinder block. The price was more than fair and I am really grateful for Alex taking it on. I'll definitely use Alexandria Home Improvement again!

When we moved into our new home, Alex made numerous repairs including installing recessed lighting, hooking up our washer/dryer, repairing drywall, and generally responding quickly to any repair issues we had. Things are running smoothly now, but I would not hesitate to call him for help, should we have a repair issue. Most of all, he is trustworthy.

Had a home inspection the AM of 10/13, they identified a leaky sink and bathtub. I emailed him to see if he could fix it. It is 4:30PM on 10/13 and he already came, identified the problem, fix them, and also fixed another issue that he identified on the spot.

Alexandria home improvement responded very quickly when we were left in the lurch by a big box store for a dishwasher install. We contacted them late in the day after the failed installation, Alexander was at our home the following morning and had the dishwasher installed by lunch. He also assisted in fixing the trim and base boards to work with the new model, and raised our new range to counter level, another item lied about by the big box installers.

Alex came to our rescue ! We needed a bathroom faucet replacement and some drywall patching where we had a water leak. Alex replaced the faucet quickly and he did a very nice and smooth drywall job. His prices are very reasonable and fair, but more importantly the finished job was flawless !

It was easy to drop off the chairs at their business outside normal business hours. The chairs were ready when promised. The repair was excellent! The chairs looked like they had never been damaged.
