Alabama Decks & Exteriors did an amazing job on our deck and screened in porch. Scott came out and gave us an estimate for the work to be done. Once we signed the contract, they were able to get materials delivered on time and start work. Marcos and his crew worked hard to build the deck and screened in porch. During the whole project everyone (Scott, Tiffany, Marcos, Robert, and Ryan) at Alabama Decks worked with the city to make sure everything was to code and also to what we were asking for. Communication was simple as they responded to messages on the online portal, text messages, emails, and phone calls. The screened in porch turned out better than we could have expected. I highly recommend Alabama Decks & Exteriors for any deck or screened in porch projects.

We recently had a covered porch project done over our existing concrete patio. It turned out beautifully and was done seamlessly. It looks like it's always been there and adds to the beauty of our backyard. All of the various crews that came were very professional and cleaned up afterwards. Our project mgr. was Robert Blackmon was excellent and kept us in the loop about every step of the project. Alabama Decks & Exteriors did a complete rebuild of our open deck and screened porch using composite and aluminum balusters. We are extremely pleased. These folks do fabulous work. Long Version: About a year ago, I noticed one of the handrails on our 8-year-old deck was starting to rot. Despite using premium wood and top-quality stain, the deck didn’t hold up as expected. Initially, I tried fixing it myself, but I quickly realized it was beyond my scope—it wasn’t just a small job; the deck required a major overhaul.

After months of battling insurance about other issues and dealing with 12 different contractors (many overpriced or unreliable), I stumbled upon Alabama Decks & Outdoors during an Alabama football game commercial. We scheduled a meeting with Scott, one of their lead designers, and from the start, he impressed us. He arrived early, prepared, and thoroughly explained every detail with options and samples. His professionalism stood out.

We chose some mid-tier composite decking and decided on a pattern, railings, and sturdy 6” posts. Despite scheduling the project for after the holidays, they offered to start early, finishing in time for Christmas. Their crew worked efficiently, kept the site clean, and even replaced a broken window pane from a minor accident—above-and-beyond service.

Though there was a minor hiccup with the initial crew, Scott immediately addressed it, sending out a more experienced team who rebuilt the deck better than it was originally. The final product exceeded my expectations; it’s sturdy, stunning, and well-crafted for a fair price.

I wanted to take a moment to provide a thorough review of our recent project. The original deck to our house, which was 30 years old, needed significant work — or be replaced entirely. We wanted a covered deck so a complete renovation was the route we moved forward with. After researching and getting quotes from multiple companies in the Birmingham area, we landed on Alabama Decks & Exteriors. Their pricing fell in the middle of the competing quotes.

From the very beginning, Scott Lamoreaux (the lead designer) was professional and incredibly detailed. He made multiple visits to our house early on, answered every question we had, and there were no surprises or loose ends once the project began. Every part of the build was buttoned up. The crew arrived on time every morning and, most importantly, they were incredibly clean. They cleaned up every afternoon before leaving and kept everything organized. I never had to worry about nails/screws in the yard or driveway.

The crew of four workers, led by Marcos, exceeded our lofty expectations. Super efficient and fast. We were shocked how quickly they got things done. Seriously, it was impressive to watch. Their attention to detail was unmatched. From the beginning, we asked for an “outdoor living space” rather than just a “deck.” This idea comes with large columns, nice railing, decorative trim/molding, fireplace, etc. They understood our vision and made it come to life. They have so much experience that they were able to accommodate any request we had even if it was during the middle of the build.

Communication with this company was fantastic from start to finish. They were proactive with providing updates. We wanted to have the deck completed by a certain date for a birthday party and they made it happen. We will enjoy this deck for many years to come. It was a joy to work with good people who take pride in their work.

Couldn’t recommend Alabama Decks & Exteriors more. 5 stars isn’t enough. Give Scott a call, you won’t regret it.

All the issues were quickly resolved. The crew was great and did a wonderful job with making the changes I requested.

We had a composite deck made in our backyard a year ago. I really hate to complain about work and services, but I feel that our project does NOT look as nice as other projects photos.

Cannot say enough great things about this company and Scott Lamoreaux, who handled my house project. We had new windows and siding installed on our whole house and not only was the job done efficiently but it was also done quickly! We are so pleased with our deck! Our vision was an extension from the existing screen room. Scott and his team made it happen. We couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

We signed our contract to start our two story deck project in November 23. Our salesman Richard promised that they would start mid February 24! By mid March they had not started but did have a few No shows under their belt ! I emailed the owner , Brady and he was on it . His crew was here the next week.
As I got to know Brady … nice guy ,.. tells you what you want to hear guy ! But at the end of the day it’s just blah blah blah ! So many mistakes, broken promises, fired PM, failed inspections, no shows, redo’s , damaged property ie chairs, plant material, grass, driveway etc ! Oh I forgot to mention the time missed from work to oversee their work and running around town to places they recommended and then un recommended to pick out stone, granite and roof material . A two to three week project turned into a 4 month project ! I’m having anxiety just writing this review . But I feel it my duty to let people know . If you’re particular about how you spend your money and want a job done right stay away from this company !

These guys are incredible. I would strongly recommend doing work with them. They’re expertise and craftsmanship shows in all that they do.

We could not be happier with our new deck, stairs and porch project. We thank Scott, Kevin and the crews who worked meticulously to give us the porch according to our specifications. They removed an old grilling deck, steep stairs and reframed our existing covered porch for custom made screen windows to be installed. We now have a maintenance free composite deck, aluminum railings and sturdy stairs with LED lighting and a beautiful landing. They installed Sunspace 4-track screen windows. We wanted a solid floor inside porch. We now have waterproof, LVP flooring which matches our deck perfectly and pretty much gives us living space all year long.

So glad we hired Alabama Decks for our sunroom project! They helped our vision come to life and were able to incorporate all of our wish list items, from the stone fireplace to the permanent dog door! Even when some things took a little longer than planned they were good about following up and communicating. The team cleaned up the work site every day! We’d definitely recommend them for your porch renovation.

We’ve done A LOT of home renovations and large construction projects. Our experience with Alabama decks was by far the most efficient home project we’ve ever done! We had a giant deck torn down and reconstruction with a roof in a week. Their team was unbelievable and we use our space so much. We can’t imagine our home without it now. Alabama Decks and Exteriors did a great job rebuilding and extending our deck. They obtained the necessary permits and met all code requirements. They are focused on customer satisfaction as they worked with me on the finer details during the building process. Their craftsmanship is second to none. We love our deck so much we decided to extend it even further. I would highly recommend them.

We are very happy with the deck that Nick H. helped us design and saw to completion. It took a few months of waiting (as we were told ahead of time it would) while Alabama Decks worked through their other projects before they could get to ours, but once they did Rolando, Alex, and Polon did great work, and they were able to build my covered deck faster than I had expected. They were willing to work with me and make some slight adjustments along the way. I would say they were worth the wait! We’ve been loving our new covered deck for a couple of months now and I wish we’d done this renovation sooner!

Through all of the extreme cold and wet weather, these guys have made our dreams come true with an amazing build and made it look easy. The quality is unmatched and the performance of the teams was absolutely amazing. I could not recommend anyone else in the business after dealing with this team of unmatched professionals. Update #2: I've received a copy of the Settlement Agreement. One of the Boards Findings in the settlement agreement "constituted incompetence." And in my opinion, they probably phrased it as nice as they possible could.

Update: On July 22nd they settled with the Home Builders Licensure Board and opted to not have a hearing at which I was prepared to attend and testify if required. Here's a quote from an email from the Board:

"Mr. Hill:
This email is to notify you that Stephen Brady Wilson has accepted disciplinary action through a Settlement Agreement with the Board; therefore, there will not be a hearing on July 22, 2024."

I'll update as soon as the Board supplies me with the public records from the Settlement Agreement.

I'm a retired veteran on a fixed income and this has been an ordeal that I want others to avoid.

According to the inspector from the state Home Builders Licensure Board, they were supposed to get a building permit. They did not get a permit.

Our project was an extension onto an existing deck. Our request was that the materials of the new section match the existing materials of the existing deck. The existing deck was constructed with Premium Grade deck boards (pictured). The contract (not yet posted but will be) with Alabama Decks and Exteriors (ADE) included Premium Grade deck boards as we requested. However, after the project was complete, we noticed that the deck boards installed were not Premium Grade. We checked the prices of Premium Grade deck boards and the installed deck boards, and discovered that the Premium Grade deck boards cost 50% more than the installed boards. They cut corners, to their financial benefit, by not installing the materials called for in our contract. We contacted ADE and Brady, the owner, tried to convince us that there was no difference, even after we told him that we knew that there was a significant difference in price and a significant difference in quality because our existing 20 year old deck was made with Premium Grade boards. Brady's refusal to remedy resulted in us seeking an attorney who agreed that ADE breached the contract. This process is still ongoing and we'll be posting all documentation, including emails from ADE's owner, Brady, and correspondence from our Attorney.

My advice, make sure everything is in the contract, as we did, and additionally, require use of your municipal building inspection Department . More to follow, in the meantime, beware.

You have to stay on top of them about everything, including clean up. We picked up hand fulls of nails/screws after being told they would magnet clean. Triple check your contract, our stairs were supposed to be 4ft wide but were built 3ft. We requested the black spindles (they say they’re metal, but do not appear to be metal) and wooden ones were on the contract. Brought it to their attention (after it was signed, unfortunately) and was told not to worry about it, then the “free” upgraded spindles were brought up when we were trying to get the stairs corrected…

Although there was some confusion on design, the deck they built came out excellent. Quality work and timeliness for the builders who were here every day at 7:30. The few punch list items left were fixed quickly and look great. Our project manager Richard was awesome. When I called him, he always answered even when sick for a couple of days in the middle. There were a couple of communication things during the sales process that need to be worked out but otherwise highly recommend

These guys are the real deal. After searching through several local companies, I found their rates to be fair and reasonable. They were honest with me and did exactly what I signed a contract for them to do. No hidden fees or extra charges. The workers were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure I was totally satisfied. Zero complaints. Exceptional service and quality.

I called Alabama Decks & Exteriors to get a quote on replacing our vinyl siding as well as removing three stone columns from in front of my house. The owner, Mr. Brady, set up a time immediately to come and check everything out to give me quote. He explained the process in-depth as he went; it was decided that as I replaced and fixed what I wanted it made better sense to go ahead and replace my windows with higher efficiency choices. By the end of it (4 days of work once all the materials came in) I had all new exterior vinyl, brand new gutters, soffit, high efficiency windows (three of which are custom cuts), and they extended the back door overhang to ensure my dogs stay dry if it starts raining. They did all of that quickly, efficiently and with the outmost respect for my schedule and property in 4 days! They even thought of the small things, like spray painting he light fixtures outside to match my new color scheme! I highly recommend using them for all of your housing renovation/restoration needs!

When I got a quote for an affordable deck, I wasn’t expecting the stunning precision and efficiency that was my experience with them. A beautiful 18x20 deck with a gorgeous staircase built perfectly in a week.

Brady and the guys did a great job! On time and got the job done quick without any fooling around. Left the job site clean afterwards.

Edit: there was a defect in the screen that Brady said would resolve over time. It’s been 3 years. Looks like a rip from some angles. It is still there. For 70000+ you would think that would have been replaced immediately without making up that story.caulking also had to be replaced because it was leaking near the bricks/boards. Caulk residue was left on the boards from workers hands; especially easy to see on sunny day. I called and they told me how to remove it myself. Instead of them fixing their mess.That’s nice.

We had 4 companies gives bids to tear down the 1996 small deck and build our vision of what we needed. One was outrageous and 3 were all comparable in price. The difference was the quality of build aspect such as picture framed sections to protect the end grain. Attention to detail with metal balusters and a cascading stair off the deck. I asked for some help involving the old deck and they were more than happy to help. The crew was led by Rob and fantastic group of guys. I wouldn't hesitate to call Alabama Decks for any outside project. We will be seeing them later. Great quality, comparable pricing.

We have wasted no time! The remarkable crew finished up today and we moved furniture out this evening. Currently 10:30pm and still enjoying the outdoor living. Our deck build went smoothly and is everything that we were promised. The structural supports of concrete footers and 6x6s ensure that our 16 foot high deck is safe and sturdy, which is of utmost importance because of the height of our deck.
