Everything started out fine but things I pointed out as incomplete were never fixed. A portion of the work was satisfactory but was never completed. Of an $8144 dollar quote, I paid $5760 which includes the down payment and his (Richards) request for 3000 to pay for work done and prefabrication of roofing panels which never were installed. Of three major jobs, two were partially completed, one was never started and I think I was being lied to about the prefabrication of the metal roofing pieces. Otherwise I feel they would have at least quickly installed them.
The gutter work was absolutely minimal. A portion of the old downspout, different color was kept in place and screwed into the new portion. There was a downspout completely rusted through at the top that was never touched. Clips were added throughout, but the whole thing angled out from the house and spilled water. His quote included 60 feet of bad gutter they would replace he told me. They replaced none of it, including the hole he pointed out to me on initial inspection.
The trim work was good on a portion but the contract said all bad and rotted wood would be replaced. I sent him several pictures of bad wood around the house and he assured me they would be fixed. That was the last contact I had with him. No phone calls or text messages have been returned since I said the gutter work looked bad. This company has several addresses and phone numbers their representatives use. You will not be able to get ahold of anyone except the personal cell of the person who sells you the contract. Stay away. Extremely unprofessional.

We wanted leak in roof repaired and mold resulting from the leak in our master bedroom removed. Price given was over $3000 but considering scope of work reasonable. However only a third of work was done and what was done was very poor. Home Advisor had provided us with this company. We had to have the leak repaired again as the work of @Ace Handyman did not keep rain water from running down our walls. Attempts by @Home Advisor to contact Ace failed as number was no longer in service. Email to owners was not answered. All needed work is being redone. We are going to pursue legal action if possible. Do NOT use this company. Understand they may be in the window replacement business.

I had ACE Handyman Window Division do work for me on 2 separate occasions. In 2009 they did my roof. In 2014 they did my gutter covers. Both jobs I absolutely love. We had 2 different sales people out to the home both answered all my questions and made sure both me and my husband were happy with the work that was completed. With my husband, he is an old retired Navy Guy so he can be very anal and even he was very pleased with the work done. If I needed something in the future they would definitely be who I would hire.

Hired them to replace an entry door in April 2015. I later found out the my entry door was part of a door and sidelite. The only thing that was done was a new door was installed. The contractor damaged the door when he left a hole under the peep hole. The door was not balanced and hung at an angle. To close and lock the door, I had to put all my weight against the door. Pulling the door opened resulted in the hardware coming loose within a week. When I spoke with Richard, he was rude because I was not happy with the job. I have had to buy a new door unit and have it installed by a professional who knew what he was doing.
The job cost me double as a result of ACE's unprofessional work!

Service questions

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
