Ace Handyman Services Southern Maine

This was a horrible experience. We paid $150 for a consultation, received a quote on a job to replace siding and a gutter…the quote more than doubled and the job was never finished. And the job that was completed was pretty poor….most of the finishing nails were still sticking out of the front of our house, a hole was made from the outside of our house to the guest bedroom closet and we were stuck with several bags of garbage from the job. We never even had a replacement gutter installed. They threw the gentleman who did the original consult under the bus saying’he had done this before’ with under quoting a job. Please shop around and find a contractor who won’t take advantage of your time like this group did.

Great work, but watch out for the at-cost of materials…. let them know you want an itemized (i.e. Home Depot) of the receipts.

Kaitlyn was so helpful getting a prompt appointment scheduled to repair a broken electrical outlet and unstick an ancient window. Neither project proved to be straightforward but Greg worked diligently until both issues were solved! Love working with the Ace Handyman team. Highly recommend.

Very courteous and professional. Looked at the faucet situation and went to get a few tools from the van and got to work. He was done in less than 40 minutes! So pleased to have a new faucet that works perfectly! He was pleasantly nice and it felt like we knew him ( first time meeting him). The work is guaranteed as well. Highly recommend this service!

My Craftsman, Jamie, was very professional. He quickly assessed the problem, a partially fallen wooden fence that forms a pet enclosure, and set to work. He skillfully righted the fence and made sturdy supports, then left the area clean afterwards. He was also pleasant and polite. Overall, I'm impressed with Ace Handyman Services and expect to do business with them again.

I had a tricky under the kitchen sink repair and Jamie assessed the work that needed to be done, got the materials needed, and went right to work. He is friendly and very knowledgeable , professional, and is precise and has great attention to detail. I am grateful that he was easy to talk to and I felt at ease asking him questions. Chris was awesome, did our project faster and with less “invasive” work than expected. Quality job, very nice to work with, and transparent about everything he was doing. Because of his diligence the project also cost less than we thought it would from initial concerns/scope. I will be calling Ace Handyman for all future small projects.

We had a great experience with Joe who replaced our exterior garage door. His attention to detail was first class including reconnecting the door alarm to the new door. He was very cordial and conscientious. I would highly recommend Ace and Joe.

Ace Handyman Services are not connected to your local Ace Hardware store, it is an independently owned franchise. Pay is by the hour, plus travel fee, not by the project.

Our 1st service they sent out 2 guys for 4 hrs = 8 hrs at a cost of $1,090. We had multiple small projects they finished 6 in 8 hrs. We felt they worked a bit slow but did a pretty good job and they were nice guys.

One of the projects was a pocket door which has required multiple additional visits for a variety of reasons. We asked them order the hardware for the door, they suggested we order it to save the mark up & emailed a link to order from HD. Visit #2, 3 projects and of those they stated 2 items had missing parts, what are the odds? Because we had ordered the hardware we paid the hrly rate for a guy to drive to and from HD to pick up new hardware. We asked to speak with the owner who kept repeating their business model & pricing structure (which we knew). He said it was against company policy for us to be advised to order rather them. Unsatisfied & very bad customer service from the owner, who I believe is an absentee owner.

3rd visit, still unfinished after 8 hrs and the guy cut 1 inch off my brand-new door and installed the handle upside down. 16 hrs & $2.090 in for these small projects. Owner will state the policies & business model when it benefits them and he said the hardware showing on a pocket door is to be expected. What?! Not true!

Here is what they don’t’ do, they don’t “guarantee satisfaction” or give you an estimate of the hrs for your project, see photos of the invoice, signed on a cell phone at time of payment. Owner complained about utilizing company vehicles, tools, office staff and travel time. That’s what owning a business is, income and expenses! I do not recommend this company, beware.

Recently, Jordan Dorr from Scarborough Ace Handyman Services came to my home to help with some things that I needed to have fixed up around my house. First off I had a few floor tiles that had come loose near my cellar stairs. Then I had some electrical outlets and switches that needed changing out for new ones that worked properly, a sliding utility cabinet that kept sliding back open, some cabinet doors that wouldn’t close properly or stay closed, and a bifold closet door that wouldn’t open properly. Quite a punch list.
Jordan arrived promptly and, after introducing himself and completing the necessary forms, got down to business. I walked him through all of the items on my list so he could understand what I needed and what was required. I had already purchased the necessary electrical pieces so I knew the colors would match. Once he had seen everything I had in mind he got right to work. He completed everything he could on my list within the 4-hour block I had reserved. He explained that he would have to come back for a one-hour slot after the tile adhesive had fully dried so he could finish up by applying the grout. He fixed everything he could, explained to me that the hinges on my cabinet doors were worn out offered to swap them out (when he was here to do the grout) if I would purchase them ahead of time.
Throughout this entire process, Jordan was very pleasant and easy to work with. He was happy to explain to me what he was doing and why. I would definitely use this company again and I plan to ask for Jordan when I do.

I was able to easily book a half day with a handyman to accomplish a whole bunch of small projects. Very organized with follow-up and communication. Jake was great to work with and tackled a few vintage doorknobs that look so great installed.

I used ace-Handyman twice in the last couple of weeks for various projects. I would highly recommend. The technician Jake was prompt, professional, and did exceptional work. The office support was also great creating a seamless experience.

Very easy to work with! Nicole in the office got back to us quickly and helped us schedule a visit within a week or so. Chris, the handyman, arrived on time and was friendly, professional, and patiently answered all our questions. They followed up with a clear invoice and some ideas about next steps for future work we need to have done. Overall, a very positive experience!

We hired Ace Handyman Services Southern Maine to paint the trim on our large ranch home with attached garage and enclosed deck. The builder incorporated unique features that makes painting a real challenge, especially the wide, boxed soffits with metal vents. Among other obstacles were utility wires, antenna, wasp nets, etc. Long story short, Jordan did a truly masterful job, scraping as required, using up to four coats when needed, making small repairs, and offering good advice. He was polite, professional, easy to talk with and listened to us. We will definitely hire them for our next project. FYI, for anyone hiring for painting projects, be sure to detail the dimension and scope of the project for quoting purposes.

Jordan did an incredible job building composite decking steps on my front porch. Very friendly and great communication. Also very flexible to schedule changes. Would strongly recommend.

Gregg was very professional and thorough in completing the job. He provided updates throughout the process and when he ran into an unexpected complication he explained the details and how he planned to work around it. The job took longer than expected, but I was not charged for the additional time since it was an unforeseen complication out of my control. I appreciate that kind of customer service as it builds trust and demonstrates that they are looking to establish long term relationships with customers.

Highly recommend! Wow, Greg was sooo thorough and gave me a complete assessment of my bathroom exhaust fan ceiling leak. And he proposed a plan for solving it that was easy to understand, reasonably price quoted and easily scheduled. He’s a real pro and my guess is that all the contractors here are. I was very impressed and I’m already on the books for them to return and fix for good.

UPDATE: Greg and Jordan came to to the work getting my ceiling leak fixed and they were fantastic. Honest, thorough, conscientious and highly knowledgeable. 10 out of 10. I will be using their services for any repairs needed in the future.

My property company hired Ace Handyman Services for some light paint work in an apartment and I was impressed with the amount of communication I received through text message/answering my questions prior to the appointment. The morning of the appointment I even received a courtesy text with a picture of the Handyman that was scheduled to do the work. Greg was very knowledgeable, helpful, and quick with producing quality work. I was very happy and pleased with the outstanding service this company provides. Highly recommend if you're in need of a job done right!

Scheduled a whole day of services one month in advance. I sent pictures of what needed to be done one month in advance. Well, the day came, only to find out they can't perform the work because it's too high. The height, communicated via telephone as well as the detailed pictures sent, couldn't have been more clearly relayed. The best part is that I used my vacation time to ensure I was available for questions. Would highly, highly, highly not recommend.....unless you have vacation time to burn.

I contacted Ace Handyman to help me uplift a very tired looking, long narrow 1/2 bath.
I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money. They recommended removing the chair rail which had no purpose on a bathroom, doing some touch up replastering
and replacing the rubber basfboards with wooden one to match to match the other woodwork. WOW, another fantastic job. Even without painting, ect it looks so much better. It's not just the skills and experience they bring, but these craftsmen are able to leverage that to bring your vision to life and, as an added bonus, doing it at all at a reasonable price and in one day!!!

Recommendation Without Hesitation - Outstanding Craftsmanship

I highly recommend Ace Handyman Services. Yes, their business model is a bit different, you do have to have some flexibility, and they tend to be a little more than what you'd probably pay some guy you hired off the classifieds of your local paper, but the end result is worth it. My most-recent project involved removing a half wall at the stop of my stairs to install a railing that matching the railing at the bottom of the stairs. The original carpenter I hired removed the half wall and installed a railing, a railing that not only didn't come close to matching the other railing, but the craftsmanship was horrendous (nails showing and was not braced - it would never pass code - see 2 pictures of unfinished railing). We knew we'd have to start over and needed an experienced carpenter. We reached out to Ace Handyman and Gregg Paquette took on the job. He removed the railing without damaging the new hardwood floor. He took great pains to source materials that would match the other railing as closely as possible. He also put a lot of time and effort in determining the best way to brace the newel post so that it was 100% secure, no give, no wobble. Gregg is a true craftsman; we're so pleased with the end result!!!! Working with Ace Handyman has been a great experience. The owner and office staff/project managers are right on top of things, very professional and responsive. My husband and I have no reservations about recommended Gregg and Ace Handyman Services Southern Maine!

Office manager responded to my initial message in a timely manner. They were able to schedule the service pretty quickly, even though my availability isn't ideal. It is never fun to write an unexpected check, but their prices were competitive and fair. The handyman was handy! My main problem required some choices between imperfect options due to a regional lack of materials that were an esthetic match to what was being repaired/replaced. She came up with good options, and made clear recommendations. Her work was conscientious. I bought a half day package, so after the main reason for needing a handyman was finished, she made a good faith effort to get as many other little things from my punch list done as she could in the time remaining. She wasn't able to get everything done, but that was a reflection of the size of my list, and the availability of parts etc. at local hardware stores. I will definitely use them again when the need arises (hopefully not for a long time, for my wallet's sake!). Also, the handyman was kind about the fact that I was having vertigo while she was there, so I wasn't firing on all cylinders!

Ace Handyman replaced our bulkhead. Completed the job in a timely manner and for a reasonable cost. They explained the work they were going to do and answered all of our questions. From start to finish working with Ace Handyman Services Southern Maine was a professional and courteous experience. Setting up the appointments, managed by phone and email by Nicole and Kate was informative, easy, and pleasant. This was important because I was admittedly stressed by a job that had been bungled by a previous handyman and a no-show by a second handyman. Ace kept us informed, we always knew who was showing up at what time. Jordan came the first day and successfully lowered a large pendant light that had been previously installed too high. No easy task since the previous person had cut the extra cord. For our second visit Jordan and Jordan2 returned to install a very large fixture from a 10 ft ceiling. We so appreciate the care that they took and the quality of the work. We are delighted!

We love this service - very professional and responsive office staff with skilled handymen who can perform a variety of tasks. We've used them 3 times, and already have them scheduled for a fourth. Highly recommend!

Cherish from Ace Handyman installed a replacement ceiling fan and installed some trim on previously replaced skylights. Cherish did a great job replacing the ceiling in a cathedral ceiling 15' high.
The fan works great and the new trim looks very nice. These were jobs I did not want to attempt due to the high ceiling. I highly recommend Ace Handyman and Cherish.

The office staff was very helpful, responsive to my questions and explained the process very clearly. The person who came to work at my house did a great job! She was friendly, professional and thorough and I was very happy with her work. I highly recommended this business and will use them again in the future.
