I wish I had a great outcome to share, like many in the reviews. The following is my experience working directly with/through Tony, the project manager and representative for ABC Roofing.
To get the quote signed, all was cheerful and well. When issues about the quality of work were shared with Tony, after informing me the project was complete, I found him to be aggressive and dishonest. On more than one occasion, in the same day, he would send multiple texts, call and leave voicemail and stopped by my house, unannounced.
My neighbor's and my construction project stretched out over several months, with texts and promises our roof was next to be repaired. The past summer came with substantial drought conditions. Weather should not have been an issue. A work trailer and supplies sat in our driveway for a month, taking up two parking spaces. When we were informed the work was complete, at the first rain since roofing install, I heard a loud drumming sound coming from the deck area of my home. I looked out to see water pouring down between my gutter and fascia - directly onto my deck. The attached pictures were taken after the project was deemed complete. I shared with Tony the videos of the water pouring through between the gutter and fascia. His response was, 'The roof is complete. There are issues with the gutter not your roof'.
This was an insurance job, to repair damage from a few major storms that blew through Morganton in spring of this year (2024) - hail and high wind. Given the name of the company is ABC Roofing and Gutters, one would assume if there were issues with the gutters, it would have been identified and included in the initial scope of work and quote. At no point, from time of initial assessment for scope and quote, through to removal of old roofing and install of new shingles, were gutters ever mentioned.
The issue of gutters only presented when I shared the videos of the water pouring down onto my deck.
There were no leaks or any gutter issues prior to ABC performing work. The follow-up Tony provided was to caulk. I let him know this was not acceptable - a short-term, temporary fix. Tony texted a picture to me (see attached) to show where he caulked - please note all the shiny new nails in my gutter. Tony indicated that, contractually, if it continues to be an issue, he has to fix it - despite us making him aware, via pictures and videos, of the issue, which still remains.
On behalf of ABC Roofing, Tony deemed the project 'complete' in early October. Shortly after it was deemed complete, I received a text from my other neighbor asking me to remove all the tar paper, nails and debris from his deck. It ended up being about a garbage bag full of construction debris once I cleaned it all. Near daily, I still find nails and discarded roofing debris in the flower beds and yard. The other attached pictures are of the water pouring through (note the wet areas and dripping), which wasn't an issue prior to work by ABC Roofing and Gutters. The water leak between the gutter and fascia remains a serious and damaging issue, as of the posting of this review - 12/18/24. Tony continues to insist the job is complete and to his satisfaction.
Having read through other reviews, my direct experience working with Tony leads me to believe he is not representative of the values statement ABC Roofing has posted on their website: "We are proud and honored to serve the West Virginia community and we’re here to help. Our team of experienced and dedicated professionals is ready to provide you with top-notch roofing services that meet your needs and exceed your expectations." The lack of contractual commitment to customer service and quality results will lead to my neighbor and me unnecessarily having to shell out additional money to fix someone else's mistake.
The best company for roofing! Great employees, great owner, great customer service! Too bad they did such a good job and I won’t need another roof anytime soon cause I’d love to hire them again!
ABC Roofing did an incredible job on our Family Worship Center campus building. DJ and his crew were very professional and exceeded our expectations with our new roof. I will gladly recommend this company to anyone commercial or residential that is needing a roof!
