BEWARE!!! I had a new roof installed by this company just a year ago. I had a prior relationship with Gary who also ended up being the foreman on my job. The work seemed to move quickly and thought the work was done well. My mistake, soon after the job was completed my family was out of town for an extended time. While they were away I was staying at the house by myself. I had not been down to the lower level of my home for a few weeks, but once I did, I found the I had a leak and had to have the whole area remediated for mold and water damage. At the time we could not conclude where the water came from so I paid $10,00.00 out of pocket to fix the problem. Fast forward to the end of May. My wife and I we're on our porch, which is enclosed, it was raining pretty heavily and we noticed on an interior wall that it looked moist. Upon further inspection we realized the water was running down the wall and leaking onto the baseboard and floor. We then went down to our lower level and ironically enough the ceiling was wet and water had pooled in the same area as had leaked the year before. I promptly called 5 Stars the next day and they immediately sent their production manager J out to access the situation. He facetimed me from the roof of my house and showed me broken pieces of hardie plank siding at the base of my roof at the flashing. We discussed the situation and he told me they never replaced the over 17 year old flashing and must've missed the damaged siding. I explained to him that I never had leak issues before the roof was replaced and olny decided to do it because my neighbor did and Gary had done his roof as well. We agreed that either they damaged the siding or it was damaged before and they never let me know. Either way they had the responsibility to let me know. He told me he totally agreed with me and was going back to his office to get clearance to do the repairs, then proceeded to "ghost" me for a week and rather than being responsible and calling to explain, he cowardly sent an email saying they were not going to fix the situation or take responsibility for this although I have a 5 year warranty on the roof and it has only been a year. I then called Gary directly, he told me he was going to get the situation resolved and proceeded to do the same thing and send me a text and told me it was out of his hands. Poor way to communicate and a poor business practice. I have now hired another roof company to repair this. The have informed me that the damage was most likely done during the install last year but also said they thought 5 Stars had an ethical responsibility to let me know if that damage existed prior. Also they siliconed the base of the flashing so the roof would have probably leaked anyway even excluding the damage to the siding. It is now costing me another$2000.00 + out of pocket. Take this a a cautionary tale to really research a company and be sure that they stand behind their work. Especially if you know someone involved personally, like iI knew Gary. Very disappointing. Don't get done dirty like 5 Stars did me!!

After a recent wind storm Bryan King from 5 stars roofing came and did an estimate, Bryan worked closely with our Insurance adjuster to ensure all details were covered and there were no surprises.

5 stars roofing kept us up to speed on the process of everything and began work on our new roof within 2 weeks of the estimate and completed the tear off and put in a new roof on schedule. They did an awesome job with clean up as well. Our roof looks so much better than we bought our house.

Nicole was very friendly and super helpful. She made the entire process very easy. Especially dealing with my insurance company, Allstate.. The most difficult part of the whole process was picking the color of the roofing shingles. Working with 5Stars was a great experience. Nicole S. worked with State Farm making the entire process seamless. The new roofing materials were delivered quickly and replacement was completed in one day. Installers were professional. 100% improvement from the original shingles.

We worked with Nicole Simon on our complete roof replacement from storm damage. We have State Farm insurance. Nicole was able to get replacement approved to the updated Berkeley County code requirements. Which was an upgrade from what was on our house from original construction 2011.

Nothing but the best to say about 5 Stars Roofing and Nicole S that was there to help at all times. Any time i had questions or concerns, my phone calls were always answered. I got to pick from a ton of different colors and the work was completed incredibly quickly and as a former roofer, I haven’t a single complaint with the work provided. The mortgage company was dragging their feet and making the process much more difficult than it needed to be to which I was quickly exhausted by. Nicole totally took the reins and played their games for me. I truly couldn’t be more pleased with the process from start to finish. She even got the insurance company to pay me money for some water damage on the ceiling inside! I absolutely recommend this company. I promise, this is not a paid review, just a very happy customer.

Update: Be very wary. Company has lawsuits in court against them for stealing from employees and contract infringement.

Complete scam. They profit half your insurance money all to do a 5 minute phone call and hire a roofing company.
No actual roofers even on staff. No one even in a construction background.

I only wish I could give 5 Stars Roofing... 6 stars. The two company reps went far above and beyond the call, and their 8-man roofing crew was equally superb. They added a few features that I didn't expect and, after the roofing job was completed, they instantly corrected two minor glitches that occurred during the build. They were punctual, made good on every commitment, and were responsive to all of my questions and concerns. I am honestly impressed with everyone's work ethic... Alex and Devon, and certainly the roofing crews. Some of their work was actually completed in sub-freezing temperatures, and again, the quality was superb! I'm a miser at heart, but even so, I felt compelled to express my appreciation to each member of the roofing crew by tipping them... something I don't do as a matter of routine. For me, this was an extremely satisfying experience and I highly recommend them!

Nicole was able to get my approved to be replaced and it only cost me 300 bucks! She stayed on top of everything and was extremely knowledgeable on the subject. Even after having to go through a couple different adjusters, she still got everything approved. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Even my mortgage company approves!

5 Star replaced my roof last year and installed a couple of attic vent fans I supplied. We developed a leak in one of the fans. 5 Star sent one of their Quality Assurance/Quality Controls (QA/QC) managers Thomas Simpson to our house. I am so thankful that they sent Thomas to our house. Thomas and his coworker Setu were incredibly thorough in their assessment. They did a water test and found the source of the leaks, they sealed the screw holes completely. I thought we were done (and I was relieved the leak was fixed.) Thomas was up on the roof and said he wanted to take a look at the other fan - I never mentioned anything about a leak - but he said "I'm up here and I'll feel better knowing I inspected it." he came back and said "it's fine, but I want to double check on the inside of the attic." Seriously???? Talk about being thorough! When he was up in the attic, I remembered another spot I was afraid may be leaking (I saw some paint issues on our ceiling after the last hurricane.) I asked Thomas if he could check it out - he said he'd be happy to. I pointed him in the direction of the leak and off he went to investigate. He came back a few minutes later and said "I have to show you some pictures I took, you're 100% covered by the warranty, but I found an issue and see where water is coming in." He said that he'd make sure to review the pictures of the roof going on from a year ago to see what went wrong, and that he'd speak with the owners of 5 Star that evening. He could have very easily done the bare minimum and fix the issue I called them about, and frankly I would have been happy. But he went the extra mile and provided a level of service you very rarely see anymore. He went SO FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND - that I will always be grateful to 5 Star for sending Thomas to our house. The roof will soon be 100% waterproof and I'll make sure to use 5 Star again! Thanks Thomas and Setu - you're welcome on my roof anytime!!!

I had water dripping out of my pantry and realized I had a roof leak. Bill from 5 Stars Roofing was referred to me by a family friend that he had helped with a new roof. I was quite worried about process, but Bill came to the house, did a thorough inspection and even tacked a tarp over the area leaking to prevent more water coming in. Bill explained so many things to me and was able to navigate through my insurance policy. He spent a couple hours with me doing the inspection and helping me file a claim with my insurance. The communication throughout the claim process was top notch. He made a point to be here when the insurance adjuster came just to represent me and offer any help. The supplies were delivered on a Tuesday, and they were here bright and early Wednesday morning. By Thursday evening, I had a beautiful new roof and the cleanup was amazing! Bill was here throughout those days overseeing everything and sending pictures of the progress. If you have any roofing needs, 5 Stars Roofing will not disappoint. I met Luke at 5 stars roofing after the straight line winds took out some trees, which landed on my fence, roof, and deck. He was clear on what was needed, guided me with insurance claim, and the work was top notch and always on time! Highly recommend!

They came out an assessed the problem and took pictures of everything they did. Bill was my contact and he was more than helpful. Everything was explained clearly and the quality of work was very good. I certainly recommend them and I'll call them in the future.

Quick install resulted in long term regret. They used the incorrect brand of shingles and attempted to completely void the original 10 year workmanship warranty. After pressing the issue they agreed to 5 years.
We had a major leak from the skylight within a couple weeks due to improper installation of the flashing and a few months later we found soft spots. The project manager Patrick Mcwilliams seems to have done everything in his power, but the inspector now refuses to set up a time to come out or even return our calls. Five Star Roofing turned out to be Zero Stars, but one star is the lowest Google allows.

We had our roof replaced last November. We love the roof and everyone always showed up on time and did great work. During the sale of our house, we realized hurricane Debby had caused some damage. Luke, who was our roof salesman, helped us to quickly resolve all the issues. We definitely recommend Luke and 5 Stars Roofing.

After seeing and hearing from a neighbor how great 5 stars was we got a estimate and a look at our ole roof. We needed one and had the Best interaction with jon G . After weeks of him going back and forth with our insurance company they finally gave approval. I was ready to give up...the insurance company has no idea what was under the ole roof. Now we were leaking in our window. ! Jon came out ,tarped the bad part and we waited a few days for shingles to arrive... Finally...our new beautiful roof. !! The team was relentless at getting it done...very well done,cleaned up and looks terrific. I recommend them to whomever is in need and not sure of processes. Had a leak issue with a vent through the roof as a result of the last big storm. Evan came out at noon and assessed the problem, involved Alex, and the two of them made the necessary repairs. By 2pm I no longer had a leak issue.

We had concerns with the condition of our roof due to 2 days of high winds and hail that we experienced earlier this year (2024). Ryan Crumpton provided us with a free inspection that revealed that our roof had significant wind and hail damage. Ryan Crumption and Ford Batson walked us through the entire process from claim to repair. They were onsite and made themselves available for calls and texting answering all our questions meeting all our needs. We were well please with their continuous communication, professionalism, roofing work and aftercare.

And their worked are impressively honest. My mom had lost her wallet somewhere in the yard and had been searching for it for weeks. One of the roofers found it and gave it back to her. It still had the $500 in it from when she lost it. She tried to give the roofer a reward for finding it, but he wouldn’t take it. Very impressive! And I’m extremely happy with my new roof!

5 Star Roofing in Mt Pleasant, SC was referred to me by a contractor who was doing some work for a friend of mines. As it turns out the friend fired the contractor for dishonesty and being unprofessional. That should have sent me running but I gave 5 Star Roofing a try. I had heard that some roofing companies, especially going through my homeowners' insurance, would waive the deductible. Well though I tried to get this done, the 5 Star Roofing representative wasn't having any of it. He said it was illegal.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to do this review or not. The roof on my rental property was completed June 2023. The 5 Star Roofing project manager never gave me an estimate. Instead he worked with my insurance company and gave them the estimate although I asked for it numerous times. He bragged about knowing what to say to insurance companies to get them to replace the entire roof including soffits and fascia boards. Well he did that. My homeowner insurance ended up paying over $21,000 for full replacement. The checks included monies for over 13 workers and about 92 hours of work. This issue is there were only about 5-6 workers at my home that day. They started at around 7am and was done by 3 or 3:30pm. 92 hours divided by 13 workers is just about 7 hours per person. Again there were only about 5-6 workers there that day. 6 workers x 8 hours (7am-3pm) would be about 48 hours; not 92.
-There was an old satellite dish on the home, that I asked to be removed and thrown away. The dish recalibration cost was also included in the final bill that 5 Star sent to me for payment as well as the estimate sent to my insurance company. I spoke with the insurance company because honestly I didn't know what to pay these people once it was all said and done. My adjuster walked me through the final payment, so I deleted the calibration dish cost. Then the adjuster sent me the estimate that 5 Star Roofing sent to them. Yes the one that I'd been begging for. By now, 5 Star Roofing sends me their final bill. The difference of their bill and the estimate they sent to the insurance company was over $1500 more. I questioned the Project manager, and he blamed his back office for the discrepancy! I told him I didn't trust anything he said going forward. I re-wrote the estimate based on the lower figure, and cut him a check for that amount. He presented me with an "open, unsealed" box of cookies as a gift. In this day and age of COVID and other issues, after paying him over $21,000, my client gift was a box of open, unsealed box of cookies. Well you can guess where those cookies ended up.

The very next day, a piece of drywall had fallen from the ceiling above one cabinet in the kitchen and a piece in the den's ceiling. I also in August found a hole just outside the carport ceiling as well. All has been repaired. After $21,000 I didn't expect these issues, but its 5 Star Roofing; so expect them.

Throughout all this, the more I questioned what the project manager was doing, the more unprofessional he became. His texts message read "You got a new roof and monies for interior work, for the cost of my deductible, and You are complaining." He would not have spoken to me in this way if I were a male. I questioned everything he was doing and he didn't like it.

I get it, with older homes there may be more damage found once the old roof is gone. However, if the insurance company could get a copy of the estimate then so could I. I finally forbid him to have any contact with my adjuster. I had to remind him that all monies came to me, and if he wanted to be paid, the buck stops here with me!

Once I understood the insurance process based on what the project manager told the adjuster, I didn't trust anything 5 Star Roofing said.

After a disappointing quest for affordable options, I found 5-Star Roofing and Bill Klundinger. He worked with us tirelessly to negotiate the cost of roof replacement through the home’s insurance policy. To make a long story short (because 5-Star will explain the process better), what began with estimates over $9000 resulted in less than $4000 out of pocket (including the policy deductible).

I give them my highest recommendation for his straightforward approach and impeccable customer service - never had to wonder about anything, and he was always on time every step of the way.

Ian was on site throughout the installation days. We had followup with him to ensure we were happy with the finished product. We cannot recommend 5 Stars Roofing and Ian enough!!

I’m not sure how they have such good reviews when my experience was so bad. I am still trying to repair the damage they caused.

They bent our gutters, marked up paint so much I need a painter to come here to fix spots I can’t get to, they got tons of debris/metal in our pool because the didn’t cover it properly, they damaged our new landscaping, they damaged our pool heater and had old shingles just fall off and hit whatever was below including our wood porch which needs touched up because of them, they knocked out our wired landscape lighting and just hid it under some plants….and that’s just off the top of my head. And then gave me $500 off which didn’t cover hardly anything. My neighbor said he was shocked at watching them work on my home and another one nearby.

John was good to work with and did a nice job getting it all lined up and working with insurance. But John doesn’t install it. And the install is what matters most.

I worked with Alex Dubois at 5 Stars Roofing and highly recommend him and 5 Stars Roofing. We had hail damage to our roof. Alex walked us through the insurance process, worked with the adjuster on our behalf and communicated everything to us completely and promptly. He was careful to answer all our questions thoroughly and made sure that our out-of-pocket expenses were as low as possible. The work itself was done well and very efficiently. 5 Stars recently replaced our roof that had suffered damage due to weather, Summer did an amazing job working with us, our insurance and their adjuster to generate quotes and have the work authorized and completed to a very high standard. The install day was also superb, with all work completed in a day and the yard left tidier than when the crew arrived. Would thoroughly recommend!! they live up to their name ..5 Stars given!
