Opal redid my roof. I was impressed with the service and how quickly the project moved from signing to finishing the job. I live in Chicago and the houses are close to each other. They took special care as to not bother my neighbors and clean up all the debris. I’d recommend them to my friends and family.

We were looking to replace our front entry door that was original to the house from 1947. Though a nice wood door, it had become drafty and difficult to open. The first places we looked were at the big box home improvement stores. We found a door we liked and wanted to buy it and get installation, but it was far from that simple. Measurements needed to be taken, which we paid for, but it quickly became and issue with getting their contractor to come out and do it. Eventually the box store's contractor came out and took the measurements, and then we never heard. I followed up a few times, and was told that either they were still awaiting the measurements or there was an issue with them and they would get back to me. In the mean time, I tried one of the popular door & window contractors we see frequently on TV here, but I also never heard back from them.

After not hearing from the contractors and box stores, I was going to tackle the job myself with the help of some contractor neighbors. Ran into the same issue with the measurements again from the box stores as they would only accept the measurements from the contractors they worked with. Back to doing more research, which is when I found Opal.

Right off the bat, the experience with Opal was great! Within minutes for completing an online request form, I was contacted both by phone and email by Opal to discuss the project and setup a time for their folks to come out. Tyler came out to take the measurements and also go over all of the possible options for our door. He showed samples and put together quotes for a couple of configurations we liked, and left us with brochures and emailed the quotes to mull over. Completely zero pressure experience. After making our final selection, he sent over all the necessary paper work that needed to be completed and I was also put in touch with Stacy to help go over it all. After we go the paper work done, Stacy helped coordinate having our Project Manager, Karel, come out to do a final measure and go over the project. Karel came out, explained the process and how long it would take. Once our door was manufactured by ProVia and at Opal, Karel called and coordinated an installation date. Stacy then sent emails with who the crew was going to be, with pictures, and what to expect during the installation. The crew came out, removed the old door and all materials, prepped for the new door, installed the new & storm door, cleaned the entire area (inside & out), then went over with me the everything about the door, a final functions check and sign off.

The experience really could not have been any smoother and we could not be any happier. We now have a front entry door everyone in the house can use. My toddler now loves to run to the front door and look out the storm door, as do my Labradors. I am considering having some additional work done around our home with the windows and will certainly entrust that business to Opal. Opal has literally been best home improvement contractor I have had the opportunity to work with. Their craftsmanship, communications and professionalism is certainly unprecedented. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have work done on their home.

The entire process went very smoothly. Charles and the rest of the team were courteous, efficient, and prompt. We appreciated the attention to detail around the new door frame. It looks so much better. We love our front door!

Purchased 10 Provia Endure windows to replace original windows on the house. Charles and Eli were very professional, informative during the sales presentation. They made suggestions that other companies had not considered or offered. The installation crew of Mitch and Sebastian were excellent. They were able to remove the old windows and install the new windows in one day. Joe our project manager kept us informed and resolved an issue with the screens on a couple of the windows to our satisfaction. From start to finish the process with Opal was easy and satisfying. Communication from Opal was consistent and timely. We are very satisfied with the installation and appearance of our new windows.

Opal installed an exterior door at my home earlier this month. Everyone at Opal, from sales to scheduling to project management, was great to work with - knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Fantastic experience with Opal Enterprises. They provided and installed a new front door at our home and it couldn't have been a more smooth or professional process. Eli brought samples, was thoughtful and informative. Joe, helped us through the process and managed the install. Mitch and team did a fantastic job on the install and were clean and thorough. We couldn't be more happy with how the project turned out.

We considered many different providers for our Andersen E-Series windows, but we kept coming back to Charles at Opel for his and Opel's determination to make us happy and put us at ease in doing business with them. Multiple visits with numerous samples, thoroughly walking us through the numbers, and the installation process. Then going above and beyond in the installation and post-delivery follow-up. They will strive to make and keep you happy.

This review is long overdue. I just wanted to give it my full attention. This review is for a 3 door replacement project.

They say you get what you pay for and Opal is a perfect example of that statement. Their estimate came a little higher than the other quotes but I felt more comfortable with them.

Every question I had, since day one, was answered adequately.

For the price quote visit, the salesperson took his time and went over every detail and why he thought Opal offered a better product and service. He was patient and gracious enough to meet with me a few times before I signed the contract. I'm very maticulous when big projects are involved.

Opal stayed in contact when It came to picking an install day.

The install day I picked was for mid December 2022. I wanted to be there to oversee the install but I had to work that day. I could've picked another day that would've allowed me to personally oversee the install but that would've put the install during January of 2023. I preferred to have the doors installed before the winter season got worse.

I expressed my concerns for not being able to be there for the install to Joe, the project manager. I asked if he could keep me posted with pictures and updates. Again, I'm very meticulous, lol. He was more than willing to alleviate my concerns. Which was exactly what he did. I felt like I was there with his attention to keeping me posted.

I got home later that night, checked the doors out and was impressed with the quality of the work.

I met with Joe a few days later for a face-to-face final walk through. I had a few questions and Joe answered them with patience and detail.

I'm still in awe and appreciation with their work every time I open those doors and anyone who does business with Opal will be as well.

We are so happy with our windows from Opal! The entire experience was wonderful. From the initial meeting with Eli to the installation everything went smoothly. Every aspect was explained to us and if we had additional questions they were always happy to answer. The installation team was timely and very professional! We would recommend Opal to anyone and would definitely use them again!

Great first visit where Opal helped determine the right sliding door for our needs. Excellent communication through the entire process.

We ordered in September, but had to wait until January for the door to be manufactured. No worries, Opal kept us updated regularly, and when they had an open installation date a few days before the one that was originally estimated/scheduled, they called to let us know, then installed it early — much welcomed considering it was the middle of January.

Installation was a breeze — it only took about three hours, and we’re very happy with our new door. We will definitely reach out to Opal again when we’re ready for new windows throughout the house!

Opal did a great job with the installation of two new casement windows and a new basement window. It was a very consultative approach and our sales rep made sure we were getting exactly what we expected and wanted. Good communication and would highly recommend them for future window replacement.

Got a quote from Charles. He was superb. Highly knowledgeable, excellent communicator, and very transparent. Highly recommend asking for Charles if you need a quote or consultant for your home project.

Had a very poor experience and unfortunately will likely need to resort to legal action to remedy our issues. Below are just some of the more egregious things that happened during our project:

1. They haven't completed the job and they have walked away.
They installed defective screens, which they previously agreed to address, but since they continue to have issues getting proper screens from the supplier, they have walked away and told me to figure it out myself with their supplier. Obviously this isn't what we contracted for and this will be a significant expense to resolve since screens are pretty expensive.

2. They installed a cheaper siding product than what they sold me and what we contracted for. By doing this they saved themselves ~$300 and time ordering the product vs. what they could pick up at the local hardware store and cost me a lot of money because the product they installed will last half as long and has a lot more maintenance. They never told me and when I found out, which was because I had a contractor review other work they had done poorly, they told me I was wrong. It wasn't until several back and forths and me having to make concessions on other issues that they agreed to a reasonable financial remedy that was close to the damage they caused.

3. They installed window trim incorrectly. They left huge gaps, between 0.5" - 1" in between the siding and window trim. They knew it was going to be an issue and verbally communicated that they would be addressing the siding during a pre-install meeting with their sales person. Unfortunately their ops person didn't care about that or doing it right and decided to leave gaps and fill them with caulk and not follow Hardie Board standards of using drip caps on window trim. 3 separate contractors have reviewed this said it was wrong, will lead to water getting into my house and this will be a significant expense to fix.

4. Laundry list of other issues that I was unhappy with: wrong windows installed, outrageously expensive change orders and poor communication prior to install.

This is my 2nd home remodel and 2nd full window replacement, I went with Opal initially because I felt like they could handle the complexity, but that didn't prove to be the case. They didn't concern themselves with doing it right, communicating and coming to reasonable resolutions when issues arise. I felt they just tried to do the job cheaply and fast which is leaving me with the issues I outlined. Recommend you find someone else for your project.

The crew did a great job on the installation. The best part was that Opal juggled their schedule to accommodate other work that was being done inside our house.

Everyone at Opal Windows was helpful and professional, going above and beyond to make sure we had a positive experience. They replaced 5 upstairs windows for us, and we're very pleased with the results. A friend of ours referred Opal to us, and we've already referred them to another friend!

What a great experience with my brick mold repair. Stacey at the office was super helpful and got me scheduled right away with someone to come out and look at a situation that I was in with my door frame.Joe was on time Knew what needed to be done and took care of it. I would highly recommend them and will be using them in the future.

Used Opal for my old house that was in need of some exterior upgrades. They re-did soffit, fascia, and replaced all the gutters (including adding guitar guards). There was also some siding work on the front.

I could not be more impressed with everything. Starting with Charles, who worked with us from the start. He was incredibly professional and answered every question we had (which was a lot since I'm fairly new to home ownership). Even when I had a last minute change to the siding color or needed a specific area vinyl wrapped, I was able to text him and he took care of it right away. The people at the office (Stacy and Becky) were so friendly and welcoming too. Opal never pushed us to spend more than we needed and in fact offered some cheaper options on the siding since it was such a small area. As someone who did contact multiple companies, you will find this is not the norm.

The crew was professional and did a terrific job (even helped deal with an old awning that was in the way). The project took 2 days and the house looks so much nicer. Previous issues with rain water overflowing from gutters or draining back toward the house have been fixed as well.

Overall, it was a great experience and I'd highly recommend Opal to anyone. Professional, easy-to-work with, and they do a great job. Will be using them in the future for windows.

The whole window project took about 16 months. It took them over 3 weeks to come out and measure after I paid the deposit. Some of the delay was due to COVID but they've missed appointments and communication was poor.. I told them I had three windows that weren't working properly and they finally came out 5/6 months later to investigate.

Charles came out for the initial consultation and was very thorough. He followed up with us and answered all of our questions. From day one we were communicated with in a timely and professional manner. Everyone at Opal was truly great to work with. I can’t recommend them enough!

Great service from Opal Enterprises. From start to finish. I hired Opal Ent. to replace 17 windows in my house. They were able to do the work in 1.5 days. It could of been done in 1 day, but because of weather issue, they informed me that they would had to start late morning and finish the next day.

Really nice job! They came ontime and were attentive and showed an interest in feedback, whether it was good or bad, to ensure that I was happy with their work. The replacement windows I had came with the house and were poorly installed. They were hard to open while these work properly. It's like night and day.

Had special order windows and 8 ft patio door replaced for my condo. They were very assistive in getting my windows measured twice as well as meeting my HOA's replacement requirements and getting the order placed. They were very communicative about delays due to covid and supply chain issues. Crew who installed were professional and got the job done and cleaned up after themselves. I am on the second floor, they were able to get all windows in without issue.

We purchased a set of custom-sized exterior French Doors from Opal.

I had three windows replaced, two standard and one basement egress window. The basement frame needed the most work done and I'm honestly very happy with how revitalized that area feels.
Communication throughout the project was great, replies to email before install was quick. After installation the crew walked me through the work done with the windows, how each one opens. The staff has continued to check in after the project was completed to make sure I was satisfied.
There are still more windows I'll be needing replaced in the future, I'll be reaching back out to Opal once I'm ready to begin.

Opal was was a great company to work with from start to finish with getting new siding, gutters, fascia, & soffits. Charles was wonderful with getting the process underway. The process of replacing our front door from beginning to end was a great experience with Opal. Charles, our project consultant, was friendly, knowledgeable and focused more on how Opal could help us rather than the competition. Opal workers are craftsmen. They replaced two windows this week. One large bay window was bid to include replacing and rebuilding the hip roof above it. While putting in the window, the foreman realized that the roof overhang did not actually need to be replaced. The company is refunding us for the unused material and labor. That is the sign of an excellent company.

Opal's team did an excellent job replacing all of the windows in my 100 year old stucco home. They solved design problems presented by the age of the home. Being new homeowners and discovering some rot that made opening up our bay windows difficult, I knew we had to replace the windows before winter. I actually didn't know what to expect, aside from the fact that my parents recommended Andersen windows. After placing a call to Andersen, they put us in touch with Opal Enterprises. We were in very good hands, between Charles, Stacy, and Karel (along with the Window installers). Replacing the 4 bay windows in front of our house took next to no time the day of installation and everything up to that point was properly laid out, planned and accounted for. We also didn't need to get our own permit as Opal took care of that (we were on the hook $$ wise). There were so many headaches we just didn't have to deal with because Opal was professional, accountable, communicative, and most importantly transparent. We would easily pick them again in the future for our window project!

The Team at Opal is great from sales to installation to follow-up! Our Anderson French door is beautiful and solidly constructed. The install guys were neat and detail-oriented. I would go back to Opal again.

Next we met the Project Manager, Karel, who oversaw the job and confirmed what we wanted through the whole project. The work crew, Mitch and Sebastian, were true professionals as they did the installation. We were very pleased with the final product and several Opal staff dropped by to confirm the work was done properly and professionally and that we were satisfied. I had filed an insurance claim with a roofing company due to a hail storm back in April ‘20 right when the stay at home order was in effect and I wanted to use the opportunity to also build out a new portico and upgrade my old vinyl siding to hardie board with decorative accents. I reached out to all the hardie board elite and golden preferred vendors in the north shore area. I worked with Mike P. from the des plaines office and the day he came out I found him to be the most thorough and ask the most questions to make sure he took the time to understand exactly what I wanted.

As I was in the process of getting other quotes Mike always stayed in touch while a few others didn’t care to follow up with me-I can say the customer service seemed to be the best of all the competitors. I was finally between the last 2 installers, Opal being one of them and it came down to price and a few small attributes Opal could not perform.

If it was solely based on customer service and comfort of process I would have went with Opal but unfortunately the other company has the highest reputation and gave a better price so it became hard to pass up. I would still recommend Opal, as I do understand the business decision in why they were pricing the way they were. Ask for Mike Pranschke in Des Plaines. If you call the sweet mannered lady, Stacy at the office she can take care of you.

My experience with Opal started on the right foot. I first had the pleasure to meet Eli Williams. He explained everything that would be done when my roof was being replaced and presented me with a folder with all the pertinent information. He was extremely thorough. His visit was followed up by a phone call by Stacy Golden who explained and sent to me the paper work concerning what would happen and what to expect when their team came to replace my roof. On the date promised they came promptly on time. The team leader, Roman again explained what would be done and what to expect. During this the project manager, Karel came with my permit and to see how everything was progressing. When the project was complete, Roman walked around the outside of the house with me to explain what they did and the care they took to completely clean up and everything was very spotless. You would never know anything was done. I am very happy with every aspect of the job done by Opal and would recommend them highly to anyone that needs their services.

Opal installed Jamies Hardie siding and several Anderson replacement windows on my house last summer. I also had Opal handle a roof issue that I had. I selected Opal because they are a James Hardie preferred installer, and their sales approach and responsiveness was superior to the other contractors I called. We had a couple of challenges involving the window replacement that had to be solved before the siding could be installed, and Opal handled that issue for me.

You learn a lot about a contractor by how they handle problems. The crew that was initially brought on the job proved to not meet Opal's quality standards, and they were fired after 3 days. Karl, the project manager, brought in a new team that Opal had a lot of experience with, and they did a superb job installing the siding and windows. I have to commend Opal for stopping the work of the first group of installers , and taking the financial hit, due to them not meeting Opal's high quality standards. I suspect that most contractors would have allowed the work to go on and hoped for the best, leaving the homeowner with a sub-par job.

Although the job took several weeks longer than originally planned, we are very pleased with the end result. Karl was on the job every day to ensure that the job went well and that we were happy. Karl also solved a roof leak problem for me.

I would definitely use Opal on future projects, and highly recommend them.

We hired Opal to replace 20 windows in our home about 18 months ago. After a pleasant sales experience, things went south. Fast.

My first red flag was the fact that on the first day of work, a man asked me to write a review of Opal in exchange for either a bottle of wine or a Starbucks gift card. I said I'd be happy to, but only after the work was done. He stood there awkwardly for a few moments before saying something like, "Okay but you have to promise to write the review." I remember thinking that it was odd. Now, of course, I suspect that this is the reason the company has had so many positive reviews on social media. (I've also seen reports of negative reviewers being bullied by company reps online, so I'm sort of dreading the response I'm sure I'll get for this.)

Shortly after our project began, the crew ran out of the trim they needed to finish the interiors of our windows. They said they'd order more and be back in a few days. I figured, "well, that's annoying but okay." They left, without cleaning up the boards with nails sticking up out of them and caulk guns laying around my house. And they did not come back for nearly six weeks. SIX WEEKS.

When they finally finished the job, we were very unhappy with the work. Cracks around the windows, uneven areas of drywall on the interiors, etc. And don't even get me started on the exterior. After popping the windows out, there were ragged areas of exposed cedar siding all around the windows. Opal tried to leave them like this. We asked them to fix this, and the crews slapped a single coat of paint over the exposed wood. It looked TERRIBLE. I was honestly embarrassed at how my house looked. We ended up repainting the exterior areas ourselves.

The last stage of the project dragged out forever, with us asking Opal to come and fix the things that we didn't like, and Opal lying to us about their responsibility for the problems. (Insisting, for example, that the cracked drywall above a newly replaced window was an existing issue that had nothing to do with their recent haphazard work on that exact window...) After countless back and forths, we ended up just wanting to be done with the project, and so we signed off on everything, resigned to fixing their mistakes ourselves.

If you're curious about this company, I suggest reading their yelp reviews. You'll find that I'm not alone in this situation. Many others have been similarly duped, and regret their choice to hire Opal as much as I do.

I was looking to have my roof replaced, and ever since buying the home I have disliked the brick color and overall appearance of the home. Mike pointed out some soffit and fascia damage and suggested changing out the ugly old iron column to a stained cedar post and came up with a very cool stained beadboard soffit and black James Hardie Fascia design. I couldn't be more pleased with the expertise and craftsmanship of the both the roof crew and siding crew. Carl was there everyday checking up on us and making sure the crew had everything they needed. Stacy was also very professional during the planning phase and once the project was complete. I could not have had a better experience!!

Great company. They stayed in contact with me to keep me updated on every step of the project. Showed up on time the day of the build and cleaned up and checked multiple times for any extra trash around the house and driveway. All workers were very professional. Would hire again for future projects.

First rate workmanship, but almost as important was the fact that they were reliable and honest. Have had many issues with contractors over the years, but Opal did not give me one ounce of stress throughout the process. They did exactly what they said would, kept me informed completely throughout the process, and were willing to work with me each step of the way fro any issues I may have. Highly recommend.
