Valley Solar

I decided to work with Valley Solar because they did not come door to door to solicit us. This ended up being a good decision - they were transparent to work with and respectful of our home. We have been operating our panels for about two weeks and are very happy with them. Getting the permission to operate did take a bit longer than expected, but I suspect that was an issue with city inspection timelines.

The entire solar purchase and installation process was absolutely fantastic. I was sent comprehensive and detailed designs, and had the opportunity to work with the Mike Shields to make modifications to the design so that the final product would not only meet my current needs, but future needs as well. Everyone at Valley Solar had incredible working knowledge of the products they are selling, and were able to provide me tons of information about what to expect from the system. Once the design was finalized the entire team was fantastic in handling all the necessary regulatory processes and lining up all necessary permitting and site work. The installation team arrived timely and promptly every morning. They were professional, conscientious of my property, and they kept the work site clean and organized. The installers were knowledgeable not only about the installation but the product as well, and provided me constant updates as to what they were working on, next steps, and were more than happy to answer any questions I had about the installation as well as the solar panels themselves. The installation included removing an reinstalling a portion of a paver walkway, which came out looking like no one had even touched it. That work was done by another LOCAL business who also clearly takes pride in their work, and the entire process was handled by Valley Solar. In additional to the panels, I had a battery system installed which works seamlessly with my houses electrical system. The installation also looks great, and the installers took the time to make sure the base blended in nicely with the landscaping. Once activated the system has been working perfectly, and the panels are producing in excess of my monthly consumption and as a result I no longer have an electric bill. I could not be happier with the entire company from start to finish they were absolutely fantastic to work with.

this company blows.couldnt get my address correct for months.Very vague when asked questions.shoddy paper work that screwed up the schedule Z for our electric bills.went online in early september 2024 and Eversource says now that possibly in February 2025 i will see credits.35000$ and what do i get? a hat or coffee mug for my investment.Use another company

It's up to you if you want to work with a company that bad mouth's another. Here's a direct quote from an email I recieved. I'm taking out the competitor's name. And BTW, they did not even come out for a site visit.

We all are scratching our heads as to how XXXXXXX could come up with the inflated production numbers they are showing you on paper. It is known in the industry that their estimates are typically higher than ours or PV2 but this is an exceptionally high estimate given the tree coverage on the property.

I understand the allure to proceed with a company showing you the highest production on paper but ultimately if you have 2 other companies telling you you’d need more panels to get close to where XXXXXXXX is promising it should be a good sign that it is not our data but theirs that is off.

We are sad to see a local company over promising this much to win deals. It is public data (and I am passionate on saving folks from being taken advantage of), so I will share – XXXXXXXX’s business is down ~40% this year, perhaps they are desperate to win projects and are resorting to unethical tactics. Valley Solar has grown by 8% this year, one of the only solar companies in the state to grow during the past year which saw a down turnover in solar installations statewide.

This system is priced at just $2.96/watt – our average installation cost is $3.84/watt. This is an amazing opportunity to get Valley Solar as your long term solar provider at less than $3/watt! We did not sub out equipment for cheaper options either, you are receiving best in class REC solar panels! On top of this, your system will be monitored by our in-house performance monitoring system ‘SunAlert.’

I have gotten both solar panels and batteries from Valley Solar over the past 3-4 years. Since I did not buy them all at once, it was challenging to integrate the systems. There were some problems at first and they worked on the system until they got it right. Now I am very happy with the system. It has been working well for almost a year. I am so happy with my solar panels. The process was well planned and accomplished. Everything was handled professionally and efficiently. I especially appreciate the fact that I’m not paying for electricity anymore.

When I decided to really try to do something about my carbon footprint, adding solar to my home was the best next step. After doing my homework searching local companies, I contacted Valley Solar. The response from Martin Jutres, my Rep, was immediate and professional. He was very patient and responsive as I Iearned more about what was involved and got my many, many questions answered, being a solar newbie.

The design and site survey process went very smoothly as I tweaked the layout, wanting to preserve the appearance of my colonial-style home. (I first looked into solar ten years or so ago with another company. The upshot was a more than decade-long payback and the need to remove more than a dozen significant trees. Valley's survey said one tree needed to come down and the 'payback' period is less than 7 years.) Once settled, Martin developed a comprehensive and detailed proposal, spelling the process and costs out step by step. There was zero sales pressure involved at any point, which I truly appreciated.

I signed up, and the big week came in early July this year for the installation. Hats off to the *fantastic* installation crew! The installers and electricians were awesome - knowledgeable and patient - and fun to have around for the few days it took. (It was during one of the hottest weeks of the year and no one ever stopped smiling!) Everything went off without a hitch. The system was up and running immediately. Once local municipal inspections were completed and the utility approved and swapped my meter head, I started sending excess power to the grid. Valley was instrumental in seamlessly handling all those interactions. (It does take a little time, and the wait involved was the hardest part for me. :-) )

After discussions with Martin, I opted for a Tesla battery so I could store power and I am *so* happy that I did. The HEAT loan (0% interest) made it affordable and now I'm 95%+ self-powered, i.e., the panels power my home during the day, and the battery handles my home's electrical needs during non-producing hours. PLUS, the battery (which switches seamlessly from panel to battery to grid - you won’t even notice it when it happens) is now my emergency 'backup generator' - in the event of an outage, my home stays powered without the need for an expensive, noisy, and costly to operate backup generator. (I'm looking forward to adding a battery 'expansion pack' as soon as they’re available to expand my storage capability.)

When all is said and done, it's not the physical solar panels or battery that will make or break your experience, it's the people you’re involved with, how they deal with you, and the care they take with your home. Valley Solar gets a AAA+ rating from me! Many thanks to the entire team at Valley!

We contacted Valley Solar late in 2023 in anticipation of our move from TX to MA. The request was more complex: install and connect solar panels to our newly purchased property in MA, install and connect our Tesla Powerwall we will bring from TX, and connect our car charger to the infrastructure in this 1962 cape. Long story short, it was a fantastic experience. Valley Solar "held our hand" throughout the process. Every permit and every piece of paper was provided upfront, reviewed, and then filed on our behalf. The team kept in touch with us to ensure everything was on track from beginning to end. The crew that came for the installation was particularly friendly, professional, and efficient. If you want a top-notch experience installing a solar system, look no further. Valley Solar installed an array and Powerwall2 for me last October. They did a fabulous job; it was complex given the oddities of my house, but they never complained and deployed a substantial and skilled crew who spent all the time that was needed to do a first-class job. Mass law requires lots of smoke detectors, and VS spent the time to do quality work in that regard too, hard wiring all the detectors and hiding the wiring behind all of the walls. Since the installation, my array is generating loads of electricity and it is clear that I will never have an electric bill again. The batteries have been great to have, and the MassSave programs for them make them a real value.

We have been thrilled with our experience with Valley Solar. They were able to install panels on our hip roof. Every step of the installation and impacts on our home were clearly thought out. The system looks great and is performing better than expected. Their communication was top notch throughout the entire process. Valley solar had to return to our house repeatedly to fix egregious errors they made including holes they put in the roof. Overall our experience was one of poor workmanship, uncoordinated crews and supervisors, and extreme inconvenience, not to mention the actual damage that was caused. There are so many solar companies now; do yourself a favor and choose someone else.

Valley Solar is the best. We had our system installed about 9 months ago but I waited on posting a review to see if any problems would arise, and to see how our solar would perform. Before going with Valley we interviewed another solar company and felt they weren't as forthcoming about all the options available to us as Valley Solar was. The other company was steering us towards what gave them the most kickbacks and not was in our best interest. Valley Solar was the clear winner, and once we signed on, the installation actually happened more quickly than we expected. They made the process seamless and we were up and running well before we ever thought we'd be. They cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave a mess. Recently our system did stop producing. The app they use is great clearly showing you production vs usage, so I spotted the issue early on. I called Valley Solar late in the afternoon to let them know, and they had the situation resolved by mid-morning the following day. I realize that not all problems can be resolved so easily, the important thing is they acted on it immediately. Our system is providing all the electricity we need. I haven't had an electric bill since it was installed and expect I'll always have enough credit to keep it that way. I highly recommend these folks! Go local!!

We had a great experience before, during and after the installation. We are extremely happy with the units and the good work Valley Solar did for us.

We are very pleased with Valley Solar. We have not had to pay a utility bill since we got the system in May, and have a $300.00+ surplus with our service provider, Eversource, at the time of this writing. Also, we have had two power outages of approximately one hour each in this timeframe. In both cases the system worked flawlessly, instantly switching over to our solar Tesla battery so that we hardly even realized there was a power outage.

I can't say enough good things about these folks. My system was down for nearly a month due to defective shutoff switch (see photo) My installer (SunSlug) knew about the issue last year when one of the switches failed in April 2022 and did not proactively fix it. When it failed for the second time in early August (2023) they could not fix it until 9.15.23. So six weeks with zero production.
I contacted Valley Solar and they had someone out to replace the switch in just a couple days and the repair cost was significantly less than SunSlug. Moving forward Valley Solar is taking over the maintenance of my system. If you need help with your solar system then contact the team at Valley Solar. They know solar, they are local and they will exceed your expectations.

Very happy with the entire Valley Solar team from start to finish. A lot of thought was gone into designing the system to fit not only our current needs, but our future needs. Layout was beautifully done and the install team was very professional. Lots of comments from my neighbors about the clean look of the panels on the roof. We are already producing more energy than we thought we were going to. To top it off, my neighbor across the street also has a solar system being installed in August. Guess who the installer is - Valley Solar!

After interviewing several solar companies, we decided to go with Valley Solar to install solar panels on our roof.

Overall I'm satisfied with the system installed by Valley Solar. Price and installation quality are both good. We did have a few hiccups though.

We had to iron out some issues with the workmanship warranty as starting in 2023 the company has switched from a 15 year warranty to a 10 year warranty, and this was changed on some of our paperwork without notifying us. Ultimately everything got resolved, but the parties who were needed to authorize it were not responsive to emails or our sales representative.

This was my second solar project on the same roof. After 10 years, the market has changed and there are more options, making contractor selection more of a challenge. Martin took me through the process with great attention to detail and rapid communication. I especially appreciated that I was given the option to select a single inverter rather than the in-panel inverters. The installation crew and electricians were professional and neat. My electical panel needed replacement and that was handled well also. Highly recommended.

Starting with Sean, he took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and was super helpful and patient anytime I called back with questions. He also made sure we understood our options so that we chose the system and plan we wanted, with zero pressure. The on site crew were all professional, courteous, and informative during the installation. They didn't even let a spring snowstorm slow them down! Lastly, Dawson and Arthur were very helpful getting the project wrapped up and our system online. Even though we have not had many sunny days since being online, we are still generating a bit more power than we are using, so we are super happy and looking forward to years of reduced electric bills! We are so grateful to have found Valley Solar - we knew we wanted to make the switch but have been hesitant in the past. Working with Martin was a very enjoyable and educational experience. He took the time to explain everything in detail and was the least bit pushy about the sale. Valley Solar was professional and on the ball from the first immediately returned phone call. The process was thoroughly explained and painless. Everyone involved was easy to work with, thoughtful and helpful. Installation was a lot simpler and faster than I imagined. The solar array is generating lots of power every day, so the tech side seems to be working as advertised. I like that a basic armchair assessment of a site's solar potential was free, using today's high tech. That made exploring my home's solar potential much easier.

Chris Batchelder of Valley Solar was extremely helpful and informative as to the benefits of solar panels. We early in our research but he was able to provide numerous resources and data that was most helpful. We will certainly use them when we are ready!

I didn't end up purchasing a system from Valley Solar for reasons I will mention below. Overall, I had an excellent experience with Chris, who was extremely helpful in helping me to navigate my concerns and interests with getting Solar. These concerns were more than just financial, but included where on my house I would like them installed (ground mount or roof mount), how many different installs (I suggested a potential piecemeal approach), and others.

I had reached out to Valley Solar in 2021 for an estimate. During this time period I had made it clear that I was interested in doing this primarily as an investment. Chris showed me the costs and benefits of installing a system and utilized some of the knowledge he had about agreements with interconnecting in a municipally-owned system (I live in Holyoke). We arrived at a payback time of many, many years over what I found to be palatable.

I reached out again in 2023 to see what had changed. He did the math with me, and again, had knowledge of new developments in tax incentives and requirements for municipally-run grids. This knowledge led to a payback time of ~60 years, which again was not good for me.

I really appreciate Chris wasn't just trying to sell me something and worked with me to make sure I got the result I wanted. To anyone looking to investigate solar, I wouldn't hesitate to give Valley Solar 15-20 minutes of your time to at least get good information.

One of the best measures of a good company is how they handle problems.

Even though the system was working fine, we had a question about one aspect of the aesthetics. A team of two from VS immediately came out and did an even better of job of correcting the problem than we'd expected.

On top of that, in its first year, our system has actually slightly over-performed in terms of its predicted output. We're very happy we went with Valley Solar.

Last year (2022), my monthly Nationalgrid costs more than doubled, even though I was consuming fewer kilowatt hours, and I decided to look into converting to solar. I remembered meeting two of the Valley Solar founders about 10 years ago when I was a dean at Holyoke Community College. They had been collaborating with HCC faculty interested in developing a clean energy curriculum that would support a new workforce. I was impressed and decided to see how the company had been doing. It turned out that many of my friends and former colleagues had been using Valley Solar and gave them glowing reviews. Being bombarded by solar sales pitches, I decided to go local with a company that I knew would be with me for the long haul. Martin Jutres was very helpful in navigating the permitting paperwork and making me feel comfortable with the process. The schedulers, electricians, and installation staff were pleasant, professional, and prompt. I've been recommending Valley Solar to interested neighbors and to my own family members.

By far the BEST decision for home improvement. The service was impeccable. Chris walked us thru the process without any pressure to accept. Once we agreed, the process was very smooth and the Valley Solar team walked us thru the process with updates weekly. All the paperwork and permitting was done by the team there. Dawson when it came to setting up the installation was amazing and Eugene and his team were amazing. EVERY question was answered and they took the time to explain.
Randy setting us up to run and prior to this coming out with the site eval was fantastic.
The Valley Solar team was by far the reason why we chose this company. They are by far the best in this field in our opinion and we haven’t regretted the decision to get solar.
Our first full month of use we have eliminated the electric bill with a credit on our account. As of today (12/28/23) we have a credit with Eversource $1k and have yet to have an electric bill all year. We’ve produced enough to cover our usage and the left over we have accumulated the credit.
Valley Solar if anyone is looking into solar should be their first choice to look into.
