I recently hired TwaIn to do a project replacing my shower cartridge in the master bathroom. He was very friendly, professional, and efficient. He did a great job on the repair. In the future, I look forward to work with him on more projects. Michele L Phoenix Az
I am the owner of Twain's Handyman Home Repair and Remodeling, llc. I am not able to reply to the negative review by Cameron Wiles. So I wanted to place this here. Something wrong with google. First and four most i take full responsibility for what happened on my end. This couple's wife called me and set up an estimate. She knew that I do my estimates early, would contact her early the day of the estimate, I work alone, and to get an idea of what you want. She knew completely up front, and agreed to everything i said to her. They had ten days to do this, okay. The customers that I work with most of the time on remodels and repairs, have an idea and know what they want. Okay. I showed up early because I was running late that day. I would rather be early then late for any estimate. Good thing i was not late, they really have a thing on time. I was 32 miles one way from them. So i really did not know when exactly i would be arriving. Most of my customers do not have an issue if i am early or late. I was shocked that they found this a problem, because most contractors are either late or do not ever show up. This happened out there on this estimate. . 1. She stated to her husband 3 different times that she wanted to go with a different contractor with a crew bcause of the factor time of getting it done faster. 2. They did not know what they wanted to do or install. Very important and have an idea of what you want. 3. She also said she did not care how the work turned out, bad idea. You pay for something, you want it done right. A profession job. Not an ameture attempt at all. 4. Then she proceeded to yell at me, when I said, I need to know what you want to do. In order to give you a proper estimate. After this happened I did tell them that they needed to go with a crew if this is what they wanted.. Having 40 years of experience in the remodeling field. I knew there was no other way for them to be happy with me. So these things helped me come to the decision to make a professional business decision to not take on their project. Plus i really felt that i could not make this couple happy at all. I also do a high quality craftsmanship type of work. i do not like to produce an unprofessional job for my customers. I know that they are not happy now, but eventually they will come to terms with this, and realize that I did the right thing, and gave them what they wanted. I always want my clientel to be happy. I did not want to waiste their time or mine. I also sold a project the following Monday. This would have been a large time issue for them. I felt i could not devote myself to them 100 % to their project. I can take on 2 projects at the same time. I have done it before. But the customers always both of them, must all be on board. She was not wanting a time issue like I said. Meaning being stretched out long term. I did not summit a written estimate bid. I also did not have a signed contract, or a project with this couple was not done. I did not do any work for them at all. So they were not my clients at this point and time. I did contact them by cell, text, and email. As a business man I use all forms of communication. Most contractors do not even call you back. I was wondering why the husband did not put all this into his review. In the end because of the above issues. I chose not to enter into a business agreement with this couple. The estimate did last up to 2 1/2 hours. But trully an estimate can take a considerable amount of time, pending on what you are wanting to do. Also i did explain to them about another one of my clients that I used as an example, who chose to put something in on a remodel i was doing. Even when i advised against it, and that it was not a good idea. They still had me install it. With in a year they were unhappy that they had done it. I am not rude, scatterbrained, or unprofessional. I hope future customers understand this review and why I placed this on here and why I did not take on their project. I do hope all goes well for this couple on their future project. Have a great day. Twain's
TL;DR A bit rude, unprofessional, and scatterbrained. Find another contractor.
We made an appointment for 7am on a Saturday, which is the only time he offered, no room for negotiation. He calls us at 5:30am that day to confirm, we are still sleeping. He shows up at 6:30am, calls us wondering where we are. What. We say we are showing up at 7am and he was exasperated. We show up a little early and he starts making jabs and little comments at us for not showing up exactly when he did, even though the appointment time was 7. Anyway, we go in, we show him around, tell him what we are looking to remodel. Starts throwing a ton of different options at us and telling stories of other clients. We just say we want something simple, nothing fancy, and ask for broad estimates on budget and midrange options. He also kept pushing for options we don’t want, and tried talking yo us about other areas of the house we didn’t want to remodel. 2.5 hours go by because he ranted about off-topic subjects and he kept making jabs at my wife and me. Pretty sure he thought we were dumb because we are young. We finally part ways and he says he will contact us in a couple days with an estimate on the guest bathroom remodel. An hour later, he calls my wife and leaves a voicemail, then immediately calls me asking for our email addresses to send the estimate. Why not just text us? 2 days later, he texts us saying he won’t provide an estimate since he doesn’t want to “waste our time” and he is very busy with other jobs. Okay… then why meet with us at all? The whole interaction was extremely unprofessional and I suppose I’m glad it eventually turned out the way it did. We will absolutely be going with another contractor.
Only giving 2 stars since he at least showed up, and he is licensed and bonded.
