We highly recommend Troost Bros. for all of your home renovations. Jeff comes out to see the scope of work needed and gives you a written estimate for the work requested and Scott is your everyday contact supervising your job. We had the team of John and Alex who were punctual, and very knowledgeable in their crafts. They have a solution for anything out of the ordinary. The renovation consisted of new kitchen cabinets, new white oak flooring throughout, new staircases, custom railings, installation of two 20 ft. load bearing beams, removal of two load bearing walls that were supporting the structure, upgrade of electrical system to 200 amps, installing led hi-hats in kitchen-living room-outside soffits, crown molding top and base and duct-work for outside venting of the fan. All work was done within budget and on time. The electrical crew, Ridge Electric, Tommy, Jimmy, Jake, and Mike were very knowledgeable and completed all the work needed and more. They took the time to make sure all fixtures were installed in their correct location. We highly recommend Ridge Electric for your electrical work. Lance’s painting finished the project with a beautiful paint job by Allisio. He was very punctual, neat and cleaned up before leaving every day. The reviews don’t lie that is why Troost Bros. is known as one of the best contractors on Staten Island.

Firstly, let me say that I do not typically write reviews, but when a company does a good job, I will definitely make the effort to write one. That is the case with my experience with Troost Brothers. I hired them to do a small job --redo the shower in my master bathroom and completely demolish the island in my kitchen because there was a terrible leak from my dishwasher a few years ago. My first encounter was with Maria who was very pleasant and professional over the phone. Jeff came out to view the job and provide the estimate. I knew immediately after meeting Jeff that I was in good hands. He was professional, kind and very pleasant. He promised me a start date and that is exactly when he started the job. Jeff provided contacts I needed to get my supplies started. He outlined items I needed for the job and who to contact so items would be ready for the beginning of the job. On the morning of the job, he, his brother Scott and a demolition crew arrived on time, laid down protective paper on my floors and began demolishing bathroom and kitchen. It was cleanest demolition i have EVER experienced. The crew was thorough. I was very impressed. The job was done in an organized manner with each step coordinated with the respective experts for each stage. Very thorough, very organized. It was a team effort but i would be remiss if I did not mention some stand out people. Carlos is the consummate professional and hard worker. There is no job too great for Carlos. My counter top was done by Stonemart who I thought was awesome to work with. Victoria did my island and came out promptly to assess, measure and order it. A big thank you to the workers who installed my shower tiles and actually rebuilt my shower from scratch. All coordinated by Troost Brothers. Rarely during my 34 years as a home owner have I encountered such professionalism and coordination in a contractor. I am grateful.

Renovation project recently finished by Troost Brothers Inc. Let me start off by saying they were responsive to the initial call and setting up a home estimate and they do charge you $30.00 estimate fee for their time. Their time is very valuable so keep this in mind. This is the first sign how they do business with a potential customer.

First off, you have to be extremely detailed in the contract with this company. Take your time word for word and go over everything you expect, not what they want you to interpret in a contract they hand back to you after you discuss a job. Reason, when you say I want to see everything back to the way it was gives them the opportunity to upcharge the initial agreement.

Second, do not expect to the workers or owners to think outside the box, if it is a complete gut job so you can make improvements forget it. They look to upcharge you for adding supports, fixing corners or a simple frame out. My guess all the houses they work on after a gut job are perfect and need no modifications. If a wall comes down and the flooring was completed to the old wall dimensions and thickness then its not our problem. If an old hanger is lower than the ceiling they sheetrock right over it and cause a bulge in a new ceiling. Old work electrical box does not fit, gouge it out and slap spackle in the hole.

Two rooms front rooms were part of the demolition, they listed in their contract contained but not dust controlled. I am far from an unreasonable person and understand that there will be dust. The plastic curations installed were as thick a paper bag. We had a basement and three rooms completely compromised by the demo. The basement door was not event covered and led to a complete cleanout for a homeowner.

We had to once again explain that were are living here and it needs to be clean at the end of the day. There were nails on the floor and nails sticking out of the door frames. After complaint, thicker plastic went up to help but it was already a mess.

The pics of these events will be posted in the end of the review. I had to contact the owner Scott to have these items address. They were all eventually addressed after I insisted they were not acceptable.

Finish work, took the time to go over choices and options. No samples only pictures from a book. This leaves room for error. You're offered only base moldings include in the contract. One option only, anything different its an upcharge as written in the contract.

Be mindful when hiring these contractors be specific in what they include and request more than one option. All this before giving them the business. And when you say you want everything back the way it was don't forget the shoe molding some reason installers want to forget because it was not in the contract.

Troost Brothers were recommended by friends and would recommend them to others. Just be mindful that costs are high for everything these days and customers are being charged a premium. The details should be taken into consideration when working with homeowners. Don't ask homeowner's to pay an additional $40.00 for a expired DOT dumpster permit. Especially when your workers are still using it and the job is not complete.

My review is solely based off what I experience and pros and cons that happened throughout the job.

Worth every penny. Excellent work!!!! We have had a deck built by Troost and they replaced our windows and doors. Excellent and professional work. Super high quality. Cannot say enough great things about these guys. Don't bother with other contractors. If they can do it, have them do it!!!

We had them install an Andersen Bow Window.
The workers showed up at the specified time.
Before they started the job they protected our hardwood floors with Masonite, the also covered the rest of the area with thick Rosen paper to protect the rest of the work area.
They weren't there just to slap in a new window and rush to be done.
No the men were precise with their measurements they checked each other's work.
These men were professional they cared about the work they were doing and when it did not meet their standards they removed the issue and made it correct.
The owners Scott and Jeff were so easy to work with
They asked what we wanted and they LISTENED they did not try to upsell us with this and that.
They gave us a very complete and detailed proposal.
As the workers were installing the window they sealed every possible area of infiltration.
My wife was concerned about how messy this kind of project was going to be.
The workers cleaned up everything that made a mess, they even swept out the dirt under the window work area (even the debris the gardener left).
We are very happy with the workmanship and their professionalism.
When they finished there was no trace of the work area.

Excellent work, great experience and outcome of a new bathroom project. They are clean, reliable and quick. My bath ry oom is 2 years old and looks brand new.

We had ten replacement windows put in. The workers were great. They kept the mess down to a minimum and protected the rugs and furniture. The job was done efficiently and the windows look great. Jeff and Scott are hands on and came over to check on things often. Everything was put back they way they were before and there was not much we had to clean. Would hire them again!

This is the third major job that I have used the Troost Brothers for. From
the moment you sit down to discuss your requirements to the end of the
project it is a professional and friendly encounter. We have all heard
of many horror stories when dealing with contractors; Troost is the
opposite. They are a pleasure to deal with and the finished product is
PERFECT. The projects have included the following: 1) new roof; 2)
kitchen, bathroom and mud room completely redone and 3) a beautiful
new deck installed. I HIGHLY recommend them.
