After many companies quoted a new roof for our Dutch Colonial we decided to contract The Great American Roofing Co. Although we were happy immediately with the crew and their careful work, only the past 5 years has shown us how great their work truly is. Our 100 year old home is in a high wind area. The roof is beautiful and all the repairs have stood the test of time. Several neighbors have used them since and have the same regard for GAR.Great family business! Thank you!

These guys are fantastic. Ryan spent an hour walking me through everything I felt that I needed to know, and that's about 45 minutes more than anyone else would consider giving you. When having to replace the roof on your home it can be a very upsetting process due to the extensive cost involved. We are 100% sure we made the right choice going with GARC.
We had seen at least 3 other roofing companies and only Ryan was interested in going into my attic to see how the structure of the home was and make sure there were no issues from the inside out.
He then explained the issues we were having and what GARC would do to fix these with their new roof system.

When we met with the other roof companies we felt they would replace the roof but were not comfortable with them.

Pricing was definitely and issue and when we weighed all we did not go with the cheapest nor the most expensive. GARC was very competitive and with their warranty we felt that was most important for the future.

Stephen and his crew finished our job in one day when we were told at least 2. They worked from dawn to dusk to get our job done.

A week later and we had 3” of rain fall. The home was perfectly protected and no issues.

GARC is a family run business and not a large conglomerate. They are extremely accommodating and friendly to work with.

I cannot recommend them more if you are looking to replace your roof.

After meeting with 3 other companies in the area, we ultimately chose GARC based on its Master Elite GAF status. We have a friend in commercial roofing who told us how distinguished and important it is. They unquestionably live up to the hype.

Ryan was our salesperson - he came to the house at our convenience. He thoroughly explained the entire process, let us touch the materials and ask questions. We were given a very reasonable quote (based on calculations our friend did for us ahead of time) to replace our home and carport roof with the highest standard shingle as well as replace all of our gutters and downspouts including leaf guards.

Andrea helped schedule us for installation and was understanding and accommodating when we had to reschedule. There was a 2-week lead time. They took care of all the permits for the dumpster, etc. (which the town made very difficult for them - definitely went above and beyond on this front).

Steven was our project manager and he came with a large team at 7am on our scheduled day. They worked hard all day long, finishing the project about 4:30pm just as daylight began fading. They were respectful of our property and landscaping, cleaned up after themselves thoroughly, and were courteous.

Roof looks great and we are very happy.

We had the roof replaced on our house, garage and barn. Steve was the Forman to watch over entire project,I would give him a 11 if i could,he even added a cricket to the rear of our fireplace chimney. We couldn't ask for a better person, job whent smoothly the crew got all done in 1 day including new gutters. Every scrap of old roof picked up and gone. If you need a new roof this is the company to call.

Our entire experience with GARC was pleasant, easy, and reassuring. We needed our roof replaced on a short timeline and they accommodated that. Everyone we worked with or even spoke to on the phone was very professional and kept us informed all through the process.
Ryan, the salesman, explained our options very thoroughly, and did the most extensive inspection of our roof and attic out of anyone else who gave an estimate. The work was actually performed ahead of schedule, and the crew was efficient, pleasant, and left our property very clean. Stephen, the foreman, was there for the job as well, and took plenty of time to explain how to maintain the attic fan and how we can avoid future issues with the roof that we have had in the past.
In addition, the cost was in line with other estimates, but we also got a new attic fan installed and higher quality shingles than what other contractors proposed to use.

We just had Great American Roofing finish their work on our house and they did an excellent job. Not only were they efficient but they were fast, bringing in two teams and finishing the entire job (3500 sq fr + roof, chimney takedown, new gutters, replacement of some rot) in two days. They are a local family owned business, so knew our area well and took care of all of the permits as well as dealing with any town officials that stopped to check in on the project. They left the worksite spotless and swept the entire property for nails afterwards as well!

While looking to get my roof and gutters replaced, I received about 10 estimates from contractors. I ultimately decided on GARC because Ryan listened to my concerns and came up with solutions for them. Ryan was also very responsive and answered all my questions right away. Even after I received my initial estimate and wanted to change some things, Ryan provided a new estimate right away.

We had some weather issues that kept pushing the date back, but GARC kept me up to date.

For the job itself, the foreman was super easy to work with, answered all of my questions, and provided updates as the project went along. The foreman was also the first one there and the last to leave and stayed throughout the whole project, not just someone stopping by every couple of hours. The workers were respectful, efficient, and kept the work site as clean as possible.

In 2015 I had a roof install by Great American Roofing Company and was extremely impressed with them at that time. So I called last week because I desperately needed to identify gutter drainage solutions and met with Ryan. He was terrific. He demonstrated professionalism and patience - spending time with me to review my property and explain his recommendation for the best drainage option that should alleviate my problem. I will definitely contact Great American again!

Great American did a great job with our roof replacement. We had a few estimates and their number was fair/competitive. We moved forward with Great American because Ryan was very responsive and informative throughout the process, including information regarding the warranty. And they were reasonably local (ie not coming from out-of-state). Stephen and Thomas who were onsite for the job were excellent. At the risk of overstating it, we had one issue/question several months later and they responded/addressed it, no questions asked. This is what you want/expect from a fairly material investment like a new roof.
Before moving forward, I had spoken to a couple previous clients of Great American and they too were happy.

This was a complicated project that also coincided with a solar panel installation. Ryan came out immediately to give me advice and a fair quote. He went above and beyond to help me with an insurance claim - even when the company was being difficult. Ryan also worked seamlessly with my solar installation company to arrange scheduling and payment. On the installation day, extensive rot was found in the original underlay - adding complexity to the job. The whole team was professional, hard working and their cleanup was immaculate. They are offering quality product and a top of the line warranty on materials and labor. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I used TGARC to replace a roof on a rental property in Allendale. I worked with Ryan throughout the entire process and he was wonderful. He was very responsive, from the very first inquiry, all the way through the completion of the job. The price was fair, especially for the additional work needed once the shingles were removed. The home was built in 1919 and the current roof was over 25 years old and Ryan wasn't sure exactly how much of the plywood needed to be replaced during the initial inspection. He was upfront about that and we knew the cost we received could increase due to the condition of the wood once the work started. I was kept informed of the additional supplies needed on the day of the job so I didn't receive an invoice that caught me by surprise. They were very professional and left the property clean following the work. I HIGHLY recommend Ryan and The Great American Roofing Company.

Ryan was a complete professional and very knowledgeable and explained in detail the entire process of installation of a roof.

We loved working with Ryan to replace our roof. He was very responsive and took the time to fully inspect where the leak we had was coming from (even climbing into a tiny space in our attic!). He was also very thorough in explaining the issues we were having snd how best to fix it. Pricing was also very fair compared to other roofers. The entire job was done in one day, which was much faster than we anticipated. So far it looks good and the leak is gone.

After a competitive bid process, our HOA selected them to replace 45 roofs over 2 years. From the beginning, their proposals were the most thorough and detailed, showing a level of professionalism that you don't see every day. Once selected, they went about securing the supplies needed (no easy task in a pandemic with the material shortages). When they actually started the job, we were blown away by the quality of the work and how smoothly everything has gone. Great American Roofing installed our roof about 5 years ago. We noticed water coming down the ceiling near the chimney and called the company to report we were having an issue. They sent someone out the next day to investigate the issue. It ended up being work that had been done on the chimney and not the roof that was causing the leaking issue. He was able to do a temporary repair job on the chimney to take care of the immediate problem and allow time to get the mason company out. I really appreciated the timely response and service.

From the original consultation to roof replacement, Ryan, Steve and their crew were professional. We originally had the install slated for November, but then the horrible winter hit and had to postpone to warmer weather where we were promptly serviced. Crew came at 7 and we're completed and cleaned up by 10. Ryan also arranged a chimney fix as well which was serviced by TNT masonry and was as professional as GARC.

Summary: The job turned into a nightmare of getting the runaround. Job not completed, Holes left in roof for a month after paid in full. Many promises broken. Paid $32,000! Have to hire someone else to finish.

Full Story:
March 2021.
We are restoring an old Victorian house. The roof was in bad shape. We got a lot of quotes in. Despite the fact that they quoted us $26,000 when the runner-up quoted us $16,000. There were 3 main reasons we chose GARC.

1. Ryan appeared to have understood our values to maintain the look of the house. He anticipated the need to replace some framing. That experience gave us a lot of confidence that they have dealt with old roofs before.

2. Ryan mentioned that they will practically rebuild and re-slope the Yankee gutters.. We appreciated the restoration to the original gutters.

3. Ryan said the facia and crown molding will get damaged when the roof gets put on so you do not want to do is separately. This was logical to us as we have never replaced a roof before.

Agreed price $26,000. The workers were friendly and very respectful. They started ripping off the old roof and found some surprises. Turns out the roof had more layers than they anticipated and more framing of the roof was rotten and needed to be reframed than they thought. We were ok if it was going to cost a little more.

By the second day, they informed us that they had performed an additional $5,000 on top of our agreed $26,000 price. That was more than we anticipated but our roof is open and we just wanted to get it down. Before we agreed we asked, if that will be the end of it or is that price going to keep going up. This is when we met Lary(the owner) and everything just kind of went down hill.

They told us that they can't tell us how much more its going to be as they had not opened up the roof on the porch yet and did not know what is under there. We thought that was reasonable did not know the range. Another 5k? how about 20k? We asked them to open up the roof on the porch, look under it to give us a price and not do any more worked that we have not agreed to a price on. We wanted to make sure that we are not an open checkbook and that we know what we are getting ourselves into. They kept asking us if we want to stop the work, and we replied that we want a price.

Eventually that day, they gave us a price of +$8,500 to finish all the work, but told us that they can no longer do the facia because there is too much rot but that they will still do the crown molding. Now we had something tangible and so we agreed. They subtracted $1,400 from the price for not doing the facia. So what is left is Roof and Crown molding.

Day 2 we were told by Larry that the guy who does the facia and crown molding (his friend) was going to be there that afternoon or the next day. That was the first time we found out that they actually wasn't going to do our facia or crown molding, that they were going to hire another company to do that.

On the 3rd day, they finished the roof and asked for payment in full. I told them that I would withhold $10,000 as the contract says that payment is due when the job is done and the crown molding was not finished and we had holes in the roof. Larry said I could withhold $2,000 for the crown molding. As a sign of good faith and to mend a high tension relationship. I paid in full. That was a mistake. They left the roof open for a month. We were contacting them every other day and kept getting the runaround. Eventually, 1 month after, they send people to patch up the holes where the animals were getting in that were ripping out the insulation. NOT to do the crown molding / facia, just put ugly patches over the holes.

I do not have time to hate but if you are considering using their business, I would meet with Larry first and feel it out for yourself.

We had a roof installed by Great American Roofing Company in 2015, and it is now 2021. I was first impressed with the owner's attention on a Sunday to assess our need back in '15. The roof came out excellent, and in the subsequent six years Larry the owner has been attentive to our questions about unrelated matters. We recently had a weather-related issue, and GARC resolved it right away and at no cost (despite the issue being from weather, and not their fault). We highly recommend GARC and would definitely use again.

The Great American Roofing Company was incredible. From the moment Ryan came to the house for a consultation I knew this would be the company I went with. Ryan did a thorough inspection and instantly identified the causes for the issues I had with the roof. No other company was able to provide the information Ryan did. His patience and attention to detail when going over the process was perfect.

On the day of installation the GARC crew showed up right on time and immediately got to work. The owner, Larry, was at the house the whole time. It was comforting to have him there to answer questions and provide guidance on some decisions that had to be made. In an industry where a lot of consumers have skepticism and are leery of a companies integrity, I can say that I had nothing but trust in Larry and his team the entire time.

The roof came out great and the cleanup was fantastic. With all of the work they did replacing the entire roof it’s amazing how clean the area was after. GARC went above and beyond for me and my family and I would strongly recommend them to anyone. In fact, before I committed with them they didn’t hesitate to provide me with a few references to call about the work they had done. After my house was complete I told them to include me in that list going forward.

Great American came out and did a review of my roof after a storm. Revealed some substantial damage and incorrectly installed attic venting.

The team from Great American gave me a great quote. Substantially less than the two other bids.

Their installation was done less than a week after the quote and took only one day. The team was incredibly professional, fast and clean. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing a roof.

During the install, a high hat light in our guest room popped out and we didn’t notice until the next day. One call to GARF and they were out with a ladder to put the light back in.

UPDATE: After the most recent storm we had a leak. After just replacing the roof i was concerned. Ryan came out the next day and did everything he could to identify the source of the leak which ended up being an old window box which had cracked. Not only did this have nothing to do with the great work done by GARC, Ryan spent his own time fixing the crack for us.

Ryan and the team at GARC were outstanding and super professional! I will definitely be recommending this company to everyone i know with roofing needs!

I recently had my roof replaced by the team. I was very impressed by their work and professionalism. Work started promptly in the morning and was completed by afternoon which included clean up.
