Absolute nightmare

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Four Star Construction Company. After a house fire, we entrusted them with a full renovation of our home, expecting professionalism and transparency during a very vulnerable time. Unfortunately, they delivered neither.

Much of the work that was promised and covered in the insurance estimate was either done using cheap, substandard materials or not completed at all. The contractor consistently misled us about where our insurance funds were going and pressured us into signing a proceeds contract that lacked any clear scope of work or timeline for completion.

Even worse, he attempted to collect the full insurance payout before finishing all the required work—work that we are still waiting on. This entire experience has been frustrating and emotionally draining. I would not recommend Four Star Construction to anyone seeking honest, quality workmanship or clear communication. Proceed with extreme caution.

We used Four Star for a bathroom model and we were very pleased with both the process and result. We appreciated the clear and transparent communication about pricing, with no hidden charges (but also flexibility when we decided we wanted to tile half walls around the bathroom instead of one full accent wall). José, who did a lot of the electrical and installation work, was especially wonderful - clearly incredibly experienced and also lovely to work with. Angelo also worked very hard to help us try to find a tile edging that matched our fixtures and handled all the permitting beautifully. Overall, we had a great experience and we’re very happy with how the bathroom turned out. Would definitely work with Four Star again.

Charlie and Angelo are very responsive and competative in pricing. Their work was done as promised and they added nice touches to make my small job look great. Their time guy was an artist. I recommend you give them a call.

Charlie, Angelo and the team were absolutely excellent. From the competitive quote for the jobs, to the quality and cleanliness of the work, it was a smooth experience. Angelo was a responsive GC and PM, working closely with myself to choose the items required for the jobs. He made sure all permits were obtained, and all inspections scheduled and completed. He regularly visited the job site to check my satisfaction and the progress. Juan (job supervisor) and his teams quality of work was excellent. They completed our front steps and two bathrooms with a high attention to detail and in a timely manner. They were always punctual, clean, polite, and responsive. When there was one small hiccup on the job, Angelo immediately responded and handled it professionally and rapidly. Within 24 hours, the entire team was present and fixed the issue to a high standard. It was fully resolved in a very timely manner and to our full satisfaction. Angelo went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied.

I plan to have other future projects completed by Charlie, Angelo, and the team, and would highly recommend them.

I had to have the floor and subfloor replaced in a bathroom. It was an emergency. The floor was sinking and it could have affected the residents below me. Angelo from Four Star Construction came right away and even worked on a Sunday and Labor Day. He also pointed out that I was about to have the same problem in the second bathroom and he and his team took care of that too right away. I’m very grateful for their responsiveness and professionalism. They explained everything as they went along. They didn’t leave any type of mess. They didn’t leave me hanging. Extremely professional. We used Four Star for our bathroom renovation and I couldn’t be more happy with the result. Charlie and his team are great to work with and always respond to phone calls and texts right away. They are able to meet all my requests for my new bathroom and his contractors did an excellent job. My old bathroom looked very outdated and now it is completed updated with a brand new look and looks modern and amazing. It was a great experience working with Charlie, he’s super friendly and professional. He helped us with the design and picked out the materials and guided us thru the process. I highly recommend Four Star. They are amazing and deserve more than five stars!!

Honestly, I never ever thought I would be so very happy with a General Contractor! In one word: AMAZING! Charlie is the ultimate professional and our bathroom is like a showroom! The individuals he has working for him are passionate about the job, and always do their best. If there was anything that was not 100% in my mind, Charlie was responsive and made sure it was 105%. He insisted that all of the work was exactly as we wanted and accepted no less. I would highly recommend the company!

Charlie and team did an excellent job on our 1st floor kitchen renovation! It looks beautiful! It was a large project and Charlie was honest about all costs upfront. He also advised us on the best way to do things and how to layout the kitchen. I could not have envisioned it without Charlie. Our house looks amazing now!
Charlie was very responsive, always checked in with us and came by to check on progress frequently to provide direction. His team are great guys who are very professional and skilled in what they do! The quality of our cabinets are great as well as the quartz we put in the kitchen. Charlie also worked with us on our bathroom and deck as well and it all looks fabulous! I would recommend Charlie to everyone!

I did some very thorough researching before choosing Four Star Construction to do my kitchen remodel. I was looking for a contractor who would take care of all the details for me, including design suggestions. I found that with Charlie, the owner of Four Star Construction. He is a gem! He has an amazing capacity to know what I want before I know it. His design skills are fantastic. Although he was willing to accommodate the many changes I requested with patience and humor, I found his suggestions were ultimately the right choice. He is super friendly and easily reachable. He is all about customer service and satisfaction, above and beyond anyone else I have ever dealt with. I love, love, love my new kitchen. It is absolutely gorgeous and looks like it belongs in a showroom. I'm so happy I found Four Star Construction and would definitely use them again.

Four Star just recently completed an extensive remodel of our condo/townhouse rental property, and they helped with everything from material selection to stylistic decisions, etc. They were great to work with, and really modernized and refreshed the entire space, which helped to significantly increase the marketability and rental value for the property. I live in a lower level studio condo that was flooded by Ida. They did a great job remodeling the whole unit. Kept in touch the whole way through and always returned phone calls. Even after hours. They were awesome!!

They set a date to evaluate my previously flooded basement, then the day before sent a text saying they would have to come 2 days after that date. Then on the morning of the new date, they left a phone message saying they can't come, and that they would call me the following week. Never got that phone call, and didn't respond to my calls. Not reliable.

Charlie is the man! Renovations are never fun but Charlie actually made it an enjoyable experience. He is honest and genuine, and worked with us through unexpected issues. He gave us one price and never up charged even when unforeseen problems popped up. I highly recommend Four Star General for any renovation project. I felt like I made another friend with Charlie and not just another hired contractor.

I had a sliding door replaced. The product was not available in a timely manner due to COVID-19 but I was contacted all the way through the process. I was also able to contact them when I had a question. Great customer service!

We recently had Four Star Construction complete my grandmother's entire house. I can’t tell you how happy my entire family is with the final look. My grandmother had recently lost her home due to a fire that left a lot of smoke damage. Thankfully no one was hurt. We were having a difficult time working with previous contractors until we met Charlie Bonnici. He was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and flexible in every situation to make sure we were happy. He met with us several times to plan what we wanted, was responsive to our questions/comments, and leveraged his professional relationships with vendors/city municipal/insurance companies to take care of any road bumps that raised. The team of employees was great to work with given we needed a lot of help to completely renovate 2 floors, plus a basement. Work began and the amount of care for our home was evident from day one. We have now moved my grandmother back into her new home and she could not be happier. The attention to detail and building exactly what we wanted was unmatched. I would highly recommend Four Star Construction to anyone who has a home project to be done. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough to Charlie and his team.

Charlie is a hard, dedicated worker who designed my "dream" bathroom and kitchen. He is kind and caring - even through the global pandemic, he returned to work on my home as soon as it was safe and took all the necessary precautions. It was evident that Charlie truly cares about what he does also because he promptly responded to all of my questions and concerns. I would not hesitate to hire Charlie again for his wonderful services.

It was excellent working with Charlie(the owner of four star construction) and his team. We had a fire in our house and had been out of our house for almost a year when we met charlie and had our insurance claim approved.He hand held the entire process of working with the insurance to release money for our house in different stages and was very patient throughout the process and tried to get us back into the house as early as possible. He would constantly visit the site himself and would respond to every question or suggestion I had. In some instances he worked with us to redo stuff that was already done, to make sure it came out as we expected. His ideas, attention to detail, and the way that his foremen worked helped make our house what it is today. Him & his team were very professional from start to finish. The house turned out beautiful - we receive compliments on it every time someone visits the house!! We thank charlie & his team from the bottoms of our heart!!

We had almost the full house including kitchen two bathrooms all floor and wall paintings renewed. These guys are great and most importantly after the job is done they always come back to fix any problem.

Every day I smile when I walk into my beautiful new kitchen. I got everything I wanted. What impressed me the most was the patience and expertise of the owner, Charles Bonnici. My late husband always took care of the house. This was my first project. I was overwhelmed and uncertain often but Charles guided me to a beautiful kitchen. The foreman was excellent. He showed tremendous respect for my home. My home was protected and the work was superbly completed. I am a very satisfied customer.

Four Star Contractors have delivered what they promised. They are 'talk the talk and walk the walk' type of guys. They had done a splendid job renovating our spacious condo from A to Z early this year. Four Stars worked with us from selecting the right items at shops for our condo to personally speaking to the condo management to get things done expeditiously. Best of all, they are not just 'fixers' but also 'interior decoration idea givers' so you would get two in one package. Four Star certainly left us feeling good about our home.

Condo Remodel: Our job was a rather small one, but Charlie (owner) treated us as if we were a customer with a huge place to remodel. Charlie is very professional from start to finish, quickly responds to any questions you may have, and delivers a thoroughly finished product. We are glad to fully recommend Charlie and his crew for any job, big or small.

We ran into trouble with our old horrible Contractor who seriously screwed up inside of our house, and were desperate. We interviewed numerous new contractors, but after meeting Charlie (as well as reading a lot of wonderful reviews about him online), we felt at ease. We truly had no doubts that he will deliver on all his promises to fix up our place and make it look beautiful again. And he did! He and his crew went above and beyond, and All the work performed was truly done with a meticulous attention to every detail. Work was done in a timely matter, we were always kept in loop with work progress, and Charlie was always there to answer any questions we had for him & any suggestions/advice we wanted to hear from him.

Charlie (Four Star Construction) is without a doubt one of the best General Contractors out there. I strongly recommend him.

In early 2015 we hired Four Star to do a kitchen remodel. Job was done correct and in a timely manner. Definitely will be calling them again when we renovate the bathroom.
