Superior Roofing - Charlottesville, VA

We had our metal roof painted by Superior Roofing in November 2020. Per our contract, this work is guaranteed for 10 years, but within 6 months the paint had started peeling off. I spoke with Lamont Payne, owner, on 7/20/21 and he asked that I send pictures and I did. I never heard back from him so I called to follow up. Each time I followed up I was given an excuse as to why they had not been out to look at my roof. On 9/6/21, Jonathan from Superior Roofing came to look at our roof and determined that the roof had not been primed/prepared correctly before painting. This is clearly a workmanship warranty issue. We then began trying to schedule dates for the repair. For a year+ we went back and forth with scheduled dates and “no shows”. Lamont even told us that they had the paint and were ready to go. It seems that Lamont had/has no plan of fixing what was not done properly in the first place. We have been given about every excuse in the book for not showing up and I am sure that with any response to this review, there will be more given. Finally, on 9/14/23 my husband spoke to Lamont and followed up with an email stating that if we did not have this completed in the next 30 days we would file a breach of contract. A date was scheduled for work on 9/25/23. My husband received a text from Jonathan at 7:30 pm on 9/25 stating that “for unforeseen weather conditions” they were unable to make it. We had no rain or other weather conditions at our address. We rescheduled for the following Monday, no show and no contact. There is NO excuse for this lack of professionalism and deceit. We have been given no choice but to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and file a small claims action.

On the day of the repair, the team arrived on time and worked efficiently. They were respectful of my property and kept the work area clean throughout the day. They took the time to explain the process and answer any questions I had. I was impressed by their attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

We just got a new by Superior Roofing and their work is very impressive! It took us almost a month to decide who to hire and we're happy we chose those Guys!!

Do not use! Had a leak 2 years after roof was replaced. Superior roofing refused to make repairs after several attempts to contact them. They did not honor their warranty. Had to hire another roofing company to make repairs. No one has worked with me from Superior Roofing. I find it interesting you have time to comment on a post but haven't called or emailed me back.

We’ve been calling roofing companies all morning to get a tarp on our roof for the coming snow and not only did Superior Roofing respond, they came out and put a tarp down for free!! Thank you Superior Roofing!

This crew did a wonderful job with our repair we've been neglecting! We're definitely going to hire them to put on a new roof on this summer! GREAT GUYS!!!

We saw Superior Roofing at our neighbors house a couple months ago and was amazed at their work and how well they did! We hired them to put our roof on and they did a fantastic job as well- finished in two days!

I rarely write reviews, let alone a bad review, but considering our recent experience with Superior Roofing, I felt compelled to write. Last week we had scheduled an appointment for an estimate, and the project manger, a Mr. Hernandez, did not show. I called, and the polite, professional, young man who set up our appointment answered, told me he would find out what happened and call back, he never did. Because of the gas shortage, I figured something had happened and called back on Monday. The same young man explained the gas shortage played apart, and we rescheduled for today. It happened again, I wait, and Mr. Hernandez was a no show, I called, was told by the same young man that he would get back to me within five minutes. He did not, no one showed, and no one called. I stayed home from work to wait. If they show this lack of support and respect for someone trying to have them estimate a job, I can only assume that should a job be contracted, the same lack of concern would be the same. I wouldn’t recommend them and suggest folks look elsewhere for roofing and stucco work.

The Superior team has been amazing from start to finish. We bought a house at the end of 2020 which we knew needed a new roof, plus new siding on the upper floor of the house. They turned around an estimate quickly and worked hard to schedule us promptly. We were able to select from lots of different materials and colors for both our roofing and siding. They were also very receptive to working concurrently with our chimney repair company. The crew was terrific; because I work from home, we saw a lot of each other! This house does not have an easy roof and the team handled it like it was nothing. Our neighbors liked them and their work so much that both sets of neighbors asked for estimates for their roofs. Most importantly, we are incredibly happy with the quality and workmanship of this roof and siding.

My Husband and I received 4 estimates before we decided to hire Superior Roofing. Jose did a great job of making sure he answered all of our questions and we were most comfortable with their company overall. They did an absolutely wonderful job!

After researching several companies we chose Superior Roofing and it was definitely the right choice! The crew worked diligently and did a really good job.

It has been over a month now since Superior Roofing sent an estimator to look at the damage to our roof. The only positive in our experience with this company is that they sent someone promptly . I was told by this representative that I would receive an estimate in the next few days. That never happened. No phone call. email, or text.
The day the estimator came out was after an ice storm. A tree was bent over in my driveway. So instead of stopping his vehicle and walking up to my house, the estimator chose to make a detour off the driveway, across my water-soaked lawn, and then back to the driveway, stopping 30 feet closer to my house. I discovered this after he left.
After a couple of weeks waiting in vain for the estimate, I sent the company photos of the damage to my yard. I asked the very polite secretary to please have her supervisor, the manager, the owner -someone- contact me. No one has responded.
I decided not to use their services.

After reading the response from the company I would like to offer a few facts that differ from their spin.

Their office manager did not "reach out" to me. I called her. After weeks of not hearing back from the company, I told her, during that call , that
receiving an estimate from the company would no longer be necessary, because I would not be using their services, because of their unresponsiveness. I then asked her for a response from the company about the damage to my lawn. Which still has yet to be received

45 minutes after posting my negative review, I got a voice mail from a phone number outside my area code . The message was from a consultant for Superior Roofing who wanted to talk with me about my review. As a courtesy I returned her call as soon as I noticed it. I gave her my name and asked why she called. She did not recognize my name, had no information about the call, asked me no questions, and never initiated a conversation. Puzzled, I politely terminated the call. I never said I "did not know who Superior Roofing was", or anything like that.

After my experience with Superior Roofing , the only thing I wanted from this company was an apology . If I had gotten one, I wouldn't be writing any Google comments. Evidently optics are more important to this company than simple courtesy.

We’re thankful that we got a new roof before the Winter came. We are very happy with our roof and pleased with their great service!

We were referred to Superior Roofing by a neighbor last Spring. We chose to hire them after getting a few estimates and we definitely made the right decision! Our project was delayed because of the rain twice, but they did keep us abreast of scheduling. Our experience was very favorable from start to finish.

After choosing Superior Roofing out of the coupons we got in the mail they came out and gave us a free estimate to replace our roof and give us new gutters. While they were there giving us the estimate the field tech took his time making sure we understood how the job would go if we chose them to replace our roof. Well, after getting several more estimates we decided to hire these guys because of the attention to detail they showed us while giving the estimate. They put our new roof on and put our new gutters up in 2 days! They worked very hard and did a great job! I’ll be a reference anytime for this company!

The crew at Superior Roofing came out Friday morning and they started on our new roof. They finished Saturday morning and it looks amazing! Very good group of guys!

We had 2 layers of shingles and that crew worked nonstop all day! They finished our roof and garage in two days! Clean up was amazing!

It took me and my Husband almost a month to choose a company to replace our roof. After meeting with several other companies and weighing all options, we chose Superior Roofing based on timeline, price and the customer service they gave us. We called them many times to ask questions making sure we understood how the job would be done and what we should expect. Their Project Manager Josè was very helpful and patient and we are more than satisfied with the entire experience. I’d recommend this company to anyone seeking more than just a great looking new roof!

We were initially apprehensive about hiring Superior Roofing. But after speaking with Josè, we were sold! Needless to say, they did a fabulous job replacing our roof!

I had a scheduled time to get a estimate for a replacement roofing. I left work early to wait for them. They did not show up and they did not call to cancel or reschedule. Never had this happen before but know I will not be using this company or referring them to anyone. They could have atleast called to let me know they was not coming. Call today Noone answers the phone.

I am updating this review to reflect the last two weeks, which was a much better experience than the first two months I dealt with this company. They have a new office manager that was wonderful and I feel like a lot of the problems with communication may have been caused by a burst of new customers from the August 6th storm in the Charlottesville area, and problems with the previous office manager. Either way, I received my new roof and finally got in touch with the company (within 10 minutes after I posted my original review below). The roof looks to be of excellent quality and I have no issues with the work. I still cannot give this company more than 2 stars because of how negative my experience was as a whole. But hopefully things will be better, permanently, with their new office manager being the point of contact for new customers.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I signed a contract with Superior Roofing back on August 13th after a tree fell on our house, putting two holes in our roof. The contract states that the job will be completed within 60 days of the signing of the contract. They also require that you put in a deposit equal to half the amount of the job before they will even put you on the schedule. However, after we gave them over $1000 we did not receive a call to get us scheduled. Calling the company, they told me that they will just call the day before they come out and that they don't schedule people ahead of time. At this point I'm beginning to think they stole my money. I have not been able to get in touch with them for the past 3 weeks. They never answer their phone, literally, and the 60 day period is up in one week. We will be seeking our deposit back from the company or from small claims court. Don't listen to these fake reviews. Check the BBB website, there are two other reviews on there with similar experiences to mine. This company is incompetent at best, and swindlers at worst.

I was ecstatic with all the positive reviews so I called and set up an appointment for an estimate. They gave me a time and day. I was home the entire time and nothing. 20 minutes after the appointment time had passed, I called and received a text back saying they were on the other line. I told them that no one showed up for the appointment they made. They replied back that someone was in the way - 15 minutes out. Over a half hour later, still no one showed up so I told them to cancel it all together. It has been almost 15 minutes and no reply. Being on time is a pretty big deal to me and this company has disappointed me.

I emailed this company on 7/23/20 inquiring about a new roof and gutters. A gentleman called me the next day and scheduled someone to come out to our home on Monday 7/27/20. The time he gave me was between 5-6 pm. My fiancé left work early to be there as well, at 5:52 I called and left a message just to confirm someone was coming. I called back at 6:09 and the same gentleman that I spoke to on Friday answered. He said he would reach out to the guy and give me a call back....no word! Still no word on Tuesday from them. Even if they were planning on calling me, we will not move forward with them.

Update 8-6-20!!!The response from Lamont is incorrect. We have cameras and no one showed up to our house on that Monday and no card was left. On 7-29-20 I received an email from Lamont thanking me for allowing them to come do an inspection. The amount he gave me was $7,250.61 for the roof and $703.49 for the gutters. My response back to him was asking how can you give an appraisal and no one showed up?? We went back and forth on emails and he said that he was going to have the PM come back to the office and explain but he would like for us to give them another chance. The reason we went with them was the reviews they were excellent so we gave them a second try. On 7-30-20 the guys was suppose to come out between 6-7pm but I got an alert that they were at our house after 4. The gentleman called me and told me he was at our house as well, I totally understood they were trying to beat the bad storm coming and they barely missed it. I have not gotten anything from this company, I called Lamont on 8-6-20 and left him a voicemail inquiring about our inspection....no response.

Jose and Darwin were excellent. They go above and beyond to help us. The whole team are hard workers and do an excellent job. Drip edge, bathroom roof vents and gutter guards were all installed nicely. The shingles and installation are excellent. The roof is now perfect. Love their service and hard work. Amazingly, they had the best price from all the bids I received. I would use them again if I ever need another roof.

Our roof is very large and complex, so the replacement took a long time, but the workers showed up every day and worked hard to bring the project to completion. They were always polite, responsive to my questions and notified me of any problems or issues when they encountered them. LaMont Payne, Client Relations Manager for the company, was very professional and helpful all along the way. Superior's prices are competitive and we were extremely pleased with the results.

Went above and beyond to fix a small error, during a really difficult time (Covid) where materials were hard to secure. Honest, straightforward dealings.

After a few hiccups with scheduling, the team of roofers was stellar and did an amazing job. Not just roofing, but they also repaired and resheathed the chimney as well as dormer trim.

Because of COVID-19, we were apprehensive about having our roof installed right now and considered waiting until later in the year. Lamont worked with us to have our new roof installed, within a 3 week window, before the closing on our home. A large crew came and did a very professional job. The price was very fair. We would recommend them to anyone planning to build or replace a roof.

From first phone call to full replacement the turnaround was 17 days! Some other places couldn’t even get me an estimate in that time. They valued our time and did great work.

The crew was very informative during the job and friendly. Our roof was completed in two including the garage and the crew cleaned the yard well following completion. And the price was very fair compared to other quotes we revieved.

We had an appointment for an estimate for a roof cleaning project. They called a few minutes prior to the appointment and said, "It looks like it might rain, so we're not coming out." You can see the entire scope of the project from the ground. It never rained a drop that day. And they never called to reschedule. I'm quite annoyed by the lack of courtesy and professionalism.

I had been waiting all summer for another company to find the time to replace our gutters. I finally gave up and started calling other roofing companies. Many didn't return calls, a few said that they couldn't get to me for months, one even told me they simply don't have enough staff to service all of the demand. When I called SUPERIOR ROOFING, they responded immediately, got me an estimate within days, and completed the job beautifully within a week of my submitting the contract. Just wanted to share my great experience with Superior Roofing. Our roof project was just completed and let me tell you, we are more than happy with our new roof! Jose and Darwin are simply the best! Superior Roofing replaced the roof on my house and added a.ridge vent to the top. They also replaced the roof on my shed. They did a fantastic job. They were on the job site at 8:30 am and worked till around 7 pm tearing off the old shingles and replacing with the new ones. Not Impressed with my short experience. I got a Valupak coupon so I figured I would call and get a quote for comparison. They said someone would be by the next morning, I was home the next day and waited for someone to show up to talk about the quote. Noone Showed up. Later that day I got an email with a quote. The quote was nearly double the two other quotes I recieved. DOUBLE! I don't know where they came up with the price, but they obviously didn't even got out of their vehicle to take measurements, if they came by at all. Someone followed up with a phone call to see if I wanted to proceed, I laughed and told him the situation. He said he would follow up with it, but that is where it ended. If you are going to use Superior, get a second quote from a competitor.

Had a 4:30 PM appointment which I took off work for. When I called at 4:45 PM they said they were running behind, asked if they could come at 6 PM, to which I said OK. They never showed up and never called. Next day: still no call and no one is answering the phone. First impressions matter, guys.

When we looked for a roofing company in Charlottesville, we chose Superior Roofing because they came out and gave us a VERY competitive estimate in 2 days! They did an excellent job on our roof and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for the best roofing company!

Man, these guys are the best roofing contractors in Charlottesville I swear. I'm a real estate investor and I flip houses, these are my guys now! No better roofing company in Charlottesville. I'm telling you, if you need a roof Superior roofing is the one. Call 'em like yesterday!
