I was referred to Sunland Coatings by my neighbor who is a retired contractor. He'd been using Sunland's elastomeric roof coating on several of the commercial buildings he had built and maintained for many years.

I had one 5 gallon bucket of elastomeric from a previous supplier. I used it as a primer coat for some roof repairs I was doing.

The quality difference between my previous elastomeric (that lasted about 7 years) was immediately evident.

Sunland's elastomeric is much thicker when rolling on.

After it dried: When I was cleaning up the buckets and peeling off the paint residue I was even more amazed at the quality difference. The Sunland coating was much more elastic. I peeled a 7" piece off of the bucket and it stretched when pulled on, but didn't crack or break.

Whereas the previous coating I used more easily cracked when I tried to stretch a similar sized section of peeled paint. It has very little elastic quality to it - even though I had emptied both buckets on the same day.

I had 5000 square feet of roof to coat. A couple of the days I was working on the roof, rain came down as I was finishing coating. It wasn't a big rain storm, but the roof definitely was coated and there were some puddles left the next morning. The Sunland Paint didn't run - there were a couple of places where it did blister from not having time to cure, but on the whole it was solid despite the rain that fell soon after application.

I had the opportunity to speak with both Thad (who makes the paint products) and Dustin who does the roof repairs and recoating.

They're both super knowledgable and genuine individuals. They are hard workers and trustworthy - they had the product ready when they said it would be, they returned phone calls and their price was exactly as quoted.
