Summit did an amazing job on our new window replacements. They handled everything with insurance to handle our claim and get us money that we would have never thought we could get. The installers were very professional and did quality work in almost no time at all. I couldn't recommend the team at Summit more!

Summit did a great job replacing my roof after some storm damage. They were prompt did a great job on a very hot day. Cleaned up nicely afterwards. I worked with Christian who was great to work with and always quick to reply to any questions or concerns. I would definitely use them again and recommend to friends!

I originally gave this company 5 stars for completing the roof — the work looked solid and was done on time. But everything went downhill from there, starting with the skylight and a series of frustrating, careless mistakes.

They installed the skylight incorrectly, causing water to leak into the house. When I contacted them, they tried to blame the skylight itself. I reached out to the skylight manufacturer, who sent a representative. The real issue? Their installer had cut the skylight frame before installation, compromising the structure. The rep had to order them to replace the skylight entirely.

Both times they installed the skylight, they hired installers who did not speak English and clearly lacked experience. The foreman also lacked experience and technical skills, which only made the situation worse. As a handyman with solid knowledge about home building and building codes, I had to supervise and guide them step-by-step to prevent further mistakes.

Throughout this entire process, they kept pressuring me to pay the remaining balance for the skylight installation, but I refused to pay until they fixed the problems.

Then I discovered they never reconnected the bathroom fan vent pipes in the attic, allowing moist air to vent into the attic. When they finally came back to fix it, they didn’t even bring the proper tools — I had to let them use my own tools just to get the job done.

They also installed the garage heater’s roof vent crooked and tilted significantly, which caused the connector pipe below the roof to pop out. As a result, my heater was blowing carbon monoxide directly into the garage. I had to fix the vent pipe connector myself to prevent a dangerous situation. Imagine if this vent had been inside the house — we could’ve died in our sleep. This wasn’t just poor workmanship — it was life-threatening negligence.

During the skylight reinstallation, they walked all over the roof ridge, cracking about 10 feet of shingles. They refused to fix it until I involved the city inspector, then they agreed to replace the damaged shingles.

When it came time to repair the drywall under the skylight (damaged by the leak), they sent someone completely unqualified. He slapped on drywall pieces, applied mud without taping, and painted without letting it dry. When I confronted him, he packed his tools and ran off. I took photos and sent them to the company. They sent another installer to redo it, but it took a whole week and they left drywall dust and mud all over my kitchen every day. Despite asking them to clean up, we had to clean after them every night.

Overall, this was a terrible experience. My recommendation to homeowners is:
•   Always make sure the company pulls the proper permits.
•   If you have a window installed or replaced, insist they hire professional window installers.
•   Only pay for work that is done and inspected.
•   If you don’t, you might never see them again when problems come up.
•   Don’t hesitate to involve the city inspector if you need help.

If you want peace of mind — and safety — avoid this company.

Our experience with Summit is simply 5 out of 5 stars in every and all ways. From the start of the lengthy process of replacing our storm damaged roof with Insurance with Brett leading the way from the start he was flawless. Everything felt by the book and seamless and each step of the way was perfection. Then we get to the managing of the roof replacement on the day of the replacement by Nick and his team and there could not have been a better team.

The team treats you like you matter and it is truly something they enjoy from start to end.

Wow, I cannot say enough good things about this company. First off Sally their representative noticed that my roof possibly had hail damage and knocked on my door. It took almost a year of her fighting with my insurance company for me to get a new roof she knew I had coming. She never wavered once and did 99% of the work on it.The roof was installed yesterday. Absolute perfection. The roofers were all so clean and courteous. Saul was there supervisor and he made sure everything was done correctly. They even did a couple of extra things that were not in my original contract. Could not be more impressed with this company!!!

Initial interaction with Christian regarding hail damage to our roof was cordial and low key. He determined that our roof was damaged to the extent it needed/justified replacement of the shingles. In spite of initial resistance from the insurance company, he provided the additional necessary information convincing them of the of the need for replacement. Minimal work on my part. From that point on the entire process went smoothly as the crew showed up on time, worked hard throughout the day, and finished their work by quitting time the same day! Everything cleaned up before they left and no damage to new flowers blooming beside the house. Used extensive tarps and 4x8 plywood sheets to protect siding and windows. Summit Construction Group did a great job on the new roof for our commercial building. From the first walkthrough to the final cleanup, they were solid. Easy to work with, stayed on schedule, and kept everything clean and professional.

We used Summit after a hail storm caused damage across our neighborhood. Summit is local and not a storm chaser. Their work was professional and the rep that assisted us, Christian Decker, provided assistance in engaging the insurer and was available and knowledgeable when we had questions. Talking with neighbors that was not always the case with other roofing companies. Overall a good experience, they made dealing with the hassle of a roof replacement much less of a chore.

tl;dr - Matt helped navigate the insurance gimmicks to ensure my roof replacement was covered for storm damage. Also recommended upgraded shingles which reduced our premiums and will pay themselves off in 5 - 6 years. Highly recommend.

Background:
My roof was damaged during the 2017 storm one year after being replaced. Since shingles were largely intact, insurance would only cover replacement of valleys, metallic fixtures, etc., plus a few surrounding shingles. The replacement was performed by a builder that was recommended by family. I've since learned, most reputable builders will not perform this sort of repair since it sacrifices the integrity of the roof over its lifetimes.

Fast forward to last August and the shingles which had been repaired / replaced during the valley replacement were no longer sealing against the roof. During a heavy wind / rain storm, the wind blew the shingles up which allowed rain to enter the sub roof and pool in the attic above my garage.

I submitted an initial insurance claim for wind / rain damage. The first roofer I had out to assess was unrelated to the 2017 company and provided an estimate $50k to replace the roof and remove / remount our solar array. Even if insurance covered the full replacement, that seemed like price gouging. I brought out five other roofing companies including Summit to assess.

Of the six companies, Matt was the only one to explicitly recommend a separate claim for hail damage. He pointed out there was abundant evidence of hail damage including to the shingles, valleys, and other metallic surfaces. On his advice, I filed a separate claim against a hail storm from ~11 months earlier (just before the one year cutoff).

I agreed to have Matt / Summit represent me during the claim inspection (that was the correct choice). The initial claim of wind / rain damage was denied, however the hail damage claim was accepted in part. That would have put me back in the situation from 2017, except Matt sent a sample of my shingles to a lab to match a matching 'new' shingle. Comparing my roof with the new, approved shingle showed obvious visual differences and Matt got insurance to agree to cover the entire roof. From there, we further got insurance to cover removal and reinstallation of the solar array.

I worked with the solar company myself to manage that portion. That is my only regret from this experience since Summit partners with a solar company and likely would have been able to move more quickly with the project.

As it was, Matt was knowledgeable, patient, and accommodating. The actual roof replacement was completed in one day, the workers were courteous and cleaned the work area well, and we have gotten plenty of compliments on the new roof since. On Matt's recommendation, we upgraded to Class 4 shingles - it was an out of pocket expense of $3k but our insurance premiums dropped by $500/year so it will pay off before long.

Many thanks to Matt and Summit. I'm a future repeat customer for sure.

PS Regarding final price: Summit + my solar provider were ~$17k less than the first roofing contractor. Whether I paid out of pocket or through hiked up insurance premiums, it's nice working with a company that charges reasonable rates.

Summit put a new roof on my home and it is beautiful and high quality. The roofing crew was splendid - worked together as a team, always being careful (3 stories up) and were very organized in completing tasks. Supervisor Montana Ovikian was so careful explaining the process before, listening to my concerns re. ladders and people in my precious gardens, explaining codes, was here during the work and always helpful answering my questions! It was complicated because I had Gutter Helmet over all gutters, 1 long gutter that leaked and he arranged for replacement of that, 2 skylights and the roof is dangerously high with some narrow steep areas at the dormers. He was here and helpful to the insurance inspector who had to check for damage to qualify for replacement. He always answered my texts, calls or emails promptly. I am very impressed with Summit and will recommend them to others.Thank-you. A great team!!!!!

To say this company was wonderful from beginning to end is an understatement. Brennen our project manager was amazing and so informative. He went above and beyond for us and made the process so easy. Our roof was installed less than a week after our insurance approved it. The site supervisor, Nick, answered all of our questions and filled us in from beginning to end the day of. The guys who installed our roof were clearly very skilled and did a wonderful job. The best part is that they had it done (2200sq feet) in less than 8 hours and cleaned every last bit of our yard and driveway up before they left. Christian was out the same day to inspect the roof and assisted with filing an insurance claim. Our new roof was approved and installation completed less than 2 weeks from the start of the process. From the very beginning, Alex was prompt and friendly. He took the time to explain what he was seeing and answered all our questions so that we understood the processes as well. I was very impressed with the overall experience and knowledge of their sales team Christian and the work of the actual field team. They protected the house and shrubs with OSB, fully tarped the lawn and driveway for debris from the roof tearoff. They left the yard clean and completed the work in one day.

We feel very lucky to have a beautiful new roof (and a separate one on our detached garage) installed by Summit Construction early last week! We love the color, a great match, maybe even nicer, than what we had before, and the texture of the shingles; and they look so neat and straight and perfect. The team did a great job, including a thorough and excellent clean-up, in less than one day. They were extremely careful to avoid debris falling on our shrubs and gardens! The crew worked hard and quietly (just the normal roofing sounds) and were polite and friendly. Our house and yard looked wonderful when they left in mid-afternoon!

We are very, very pleased with Summit, and especially with our project manager Jeff Rozman, who guided ours from start to finish. Jeff was so organized and prepared whenever we met with him; he had so much information, very clearly letting us understand all the steps in the process, from planning, to financing details, to precisely what would occur on the day of roofing; and he was here most of that day in case we had any concerns or questions. He came the next morning to check with us one more time--did we find any debris they left? did everything seem as we had expected it to be when the job was done? did we have any further thoughts? I was a little apprehensive when Thomas Keller knocked on my door asking if I mind if he took a look at my roof as others in the neighborhood had experienced some storm damage. But pleased that I did. Thomas was very helpful throughout the process. Met the insurance adjuster on site to point out what he was seeing, explained the whole process to me. The Summit team was very fast getting to the roof, completed the work in 1 day. Great clean up. I great experience all together!

We recently had our siding replaced by Summit Construction. Because we had such a good experience with them when our roof was replaced, we opted to go with them again. I left a message for Sam Buss and got an immediate response and when a cancellation presented an opportunity, Sam got us on the schedule. The project started on time, the workers were positive, respectful, and professional and did a wonderful job. We feel like we have a new house! And finally, when a couple of questions popped up, Sam responded immediately as we have come to expect. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Summit Construction and Sam Buss as your project manager for any roofing or siding project!

Christian and Summit delivered on all of their promises: 1) they verified, surveyed, and photographed the storm damage 2) they filed the damage estimate with the insurance carrier and met the adjuster for his home inspection 3) he obtained final approval from the carrier with the approved budget 4) we picked out top performing shingles and gutter guards 5) on the mutually agreed upon install date, a crew of 10 were on my roof to demo with a dumpster by 7 am, and by 9:00 am a crane delivered the shingles to the roof. The roof install was completed by 4:00 pm with everything cleaned up including the use of a magnetic rake to ensure no nails were left behind. 6) our carrier made the payments to me to cover the claim less my deductible. I give Summit and Christian an A+ - very impressive job - they know roofing! Jfb

Roger was very friendly when I met him and asked if he could check out my roof, I had already been turned down for damages but he got a insurance adjuster to come out and it was approved for full replacement. The job was done before I knew it and my insurance covered everything, thanks Roger and the whole crew, the roofers started at 6 am and were cleaned up and gone by 11 am. Very happy.

I was referred to Summit by my mom, who has a much bigger and steeper roof than I do. Mom's roof was done in a day and, since I've never needed roof work done, I called Summit Construction and couldn't be happier with the results! In short, Summit Construction walked me through everything from insurance claim submission to the actual build, finished my St Paul roofs (both my home and garage) in a day, and cleaned up all the mess exceptionally well and I'm happy to write a good review for them.

This was also the first time I made an HOI claim. I worked with a sales guy from Summit named Jeremy and he made the process very easy. Jeremy compiled pictures for my insurance company (Kemper, who recently left MN), had some back and forth with them about roofing details I'm not familiar with, and even stepped in when there was a communication problem with Kemper part was through the process. Jeremy made everything easy on the front end... But the paperwork was only half the experience.

From a construction standpoint, a supervisor named Ryan brought a crew over bright and early on a Monday morning. Honestly, we forgot about the roof work and were sleeping until the crew rang our doorbell at 6:30. By the time we made it downstairs to the front door, the crew was already on the roof ripping off shingles! I'm in Saint Paul with close neighbors, boulevard trees, etc so these guys had to carry the materials up by hand. I'm very impressed with their work ethic not only throughout the day but even at the end, when they cleaned up the debris very well! We haven't found a single nail in our yard yet, which I appreciate. No leaks & no problems - the crew made it very easy.

Again, I'm in St Paul and this is the first roof work I've had done... But I have a lot of neighbors who've had roofs replaced recently and a lot of them are impressed with how fast ours was completed! My next door neighbor's roof took 2 days (he also got his garage & house roof done, which are similar sizes to mine) and the guy across the street took a week (granted I'm pretty sure he has different shingles than us, as I have the standard shingles and his may be the more expensive shingles).

In the end, roof work is major construction. It's loud & tough work that impacted my work-from-home schedule... So I really appreciate that Summit got the job done in a day. Both roofs look great and I couldn't be happier with how easy the whole process is. Everyone I talked to at Summit was nice, engaged, and just wanted to provide a good experience and I'm happy to refer them to anyone who needs a new roof.

Our neighborhood was hit with a hail storm last fall and after talking with some neighbors, we called Summit Construction to come take a look at our roof. Shortly, the process was underway. The Project Manager was helpful and guided us along the process from initial appointment, to install and completion of project. We had a new roof in 3 or 4 weeks. The guys doing the install were fast and friendly, the Project Manager was on site to help facilitate the process. Overall, great service, fast and friendly.

Summit Construction Group did an incredible job replacing my roof and siding. The project manager was attentive and knowledgeable, answering all of my questions, and promptly addressing concerns as they came up throughout the project. And what a project it was! Given the age and unique design of my home, nothing about it was simple or straightforward, but the Summit team never got frustrated or discouraged. Every time a new issue cropped up, they buckled down and found a solution.
For example, as you can see in one of the pictures, my roof has unusually large overhangs, and the soffiting angles up (parallel to the roof line rather than being level like most are) so none of the standard soffit products come in a size large enough to have fit. After exploring a few different options, Summit ultimately determined the best solution was to hand-craft each individual soffit section, on-site, using custom vents they ordered to spec -- and they came out great! The craftsmanship is just remarkable. Zoom in on some of the siding pictures, and also checkout the bay window. Their crews are super talented. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the job Summit did. From start to finish, it was a pleasure working with their entire team, and the results speak for themselves.

You never know what you’ll get when a roofing contractor knocks on your door. So I had mixed feelings when ‘the guy’ (Christian) told me there was damage due to a hail storm.
I followed through on it and it worked out great. Christian handled all the logistics and dealt with the insurance. He came by three times with different shingle samples to help us pick one. Installation was mad! There must have been like 20 guys here from 6am to 8pm but they got it done in one day even though our roof is quite large.
While I haven’t seen the final bill yet, the experience so far has been great and the new roof looks very nice.

He was willing to work with us and with our insurance to make sure everything was going the way it should go, and expedite it as much as possible. We never felt pressured or rushed, and always felt heard. Not to mention the work! The work was as timely as possible, and looks amazing. We never felt pressured to upgrade or to cut corners. When they discovered areas that didn’t need as much work, they talked with us and adjusted our quote as necessary. Christian was very nice, and kind. He checked and followed up when the roof was replaced. He went back to clean up and removed the extra materials in front of my yard.

The window crew were exceptional in caring for my house through the whole installation process. They covered all my Furniture with plastic and put down tarps down to cover my carpet. They also did a Great job with the cleanup. Thank You Noah Barton and your wonderful crew. A few days later the touch up crew arrived to do touch up also a wonderful job. Connor came to the house and checked out my roof. It had hail damage that I did not know about. He contacted the insurance company and I had to do nothing after I approved the replacement of my roof. The team did a great job. Came early in AM, covered everything, got right to work. Job done by 2:30 PM AND CLEAN UP WAS PERFECT. Could not be happier!

We loved working with Andy and the rest of the team at Summit! The whole experience was great -- he was clear in communicating everything along the way and scoping it out ahead of time. We had a new roof installed by Summit in August 2023. The roof needed replacement due to hail damage. Project Manager Reese Johnson was very easy to work with. He answered all our questions and concerns clearly and promptly. Reese handled all the interactions with our homeowners insurance company. His estimate of project cost vs. insurance coverage were spot on. The roofing crew was very courteous and respectful of our property. Most importantly they did a great clean up when the job was complete. We were very satisfied with Summit and Reese's performance on our roof replacement project.

Charlie and his team were fantastic to work with! He replaced all my windows a few years ago. This summer an errant lacrosse ball shattered one of our big picture windows and Charlie’s team from Summit Construction took care of us. Project was roof replacement on house & garage along with two skylight replacements due to hail damage. Project Mgr, Brennen Newham was very professional & personable, very communicative - always available as needed & regularly on-site. He went to bat with insurance company to be sure all documentation, costs/reimbursements were proper. Crew was polite & professional, never using loud music disturbing neighbors. Even with a few "blips" and punchlist items, all was corrected properly at jobs conclusion including a custom solution for a skylight screen improperly sized. Happy clients!

We enlisted Summit construction to replace our roof and gutters after being referred by our neighbors and they did not disappoint.
