John Covington is the only person I will ever let come to my house and lay tile and do a major renovation in the future. He is a man of integrity, reliable, and a hard worker. His tile work is some of the best I have seen and he is a true craftsman. He came independently recommended by two different tile shops. The renovation of our master bathroom was completed approximately one week ago. We have been ghosted by two other contractors which really upset me at the time but so glad we got John. One thing that really impressed me was the excellent crew that John brings in to work with him. There was a lot of mutual rapport and respect and it showed in the quality of work at the end. The subcontractors (plumber and electrician) had many compliments to pay about John. They went out of their way …even working on weekends so that they would not delay John’s schedule. That’s a great sense of teamwork and loyalty in the contractor and it benefits the customer in the end.
The job was completed on time and did not go over budget. The budget for our master bath was more than reasonable and we cannot be more pleased with John Covington.

We couldn't be more pleased with John's work on our bathroom. He was timely, courteous, and fairly priced. He and his guys worked neatly and carefully to ensure a beautiful finished product and we absolutely love it. They even went above and beyond in many ways to make sure our home was left looking miles better than when they arrived. Beautiful work, great pricing, and a pleasant experience all around.

We took a 1/3 of our enclosed porch and make it a sunroom. John did a great job of installing the tile and Schluter heated floor system. Design was by John.

.
Recently undertook a custom master bath and bedroom remodel. Solicited various quotes from three contractors and they were all over the board on price and weren't really forthright with my questions. Every time I said I wanted to do something the price went up even though I was only reinforcing what I wanted before they even quoted. Guess they didn't understand the word custom.

We wanted Contractors ideas and the wow factor but even though they all said they had designers no such effort came forth in the quote.

Since I had to pick everything out myself and did all the legwork i decided to "be my own Contractor sourcing my own materials and SubContractors.

I searched far and wide for materials and saved myself $15k.

Next I had to locate subcontractors to do the work. I found "Straight-line Painting and Tile" who did tiling, painting, schluter heated floor and curbless shower install and carpentry work. Plumbing was "Faith Plumbing", Shower Glass install was "Toler insulating", and electrical was "Wired Up Electrical". and the Ambrosia Maple hardwood was sourced from Danny Hylton in Goode. I even sourced the exact tub new on Craigs list (NC) for $1,000 saving from a local quote.

This group worked extremely well together to complete the project and saved me $10-$15,000 in contractor project management which i could than apply to more upgrades.

The whole key to pulling this off was having a sub like Straight line that could do a demolition, tile, carpentry, drywall, and finally paint, I like that you were willing to offer up options, pro and cons, and worked overtime to find a solution for the 2" slop on a steam shower ceiling and floor with two wall system. Your vast knowledge on so many topics really help me have confidence to project manage my own remodel. It's is so nice to have worked with a someone who loved their job and end product. I am lining up future project.

Straight line tile is a Tile Installer Perfectionist". Toler glass shower installer said he has never seen such a level floor system. Within 1/16" which is unheard of. Straight-lines expertise was critical in helping me to schedule each of the subcontractors work to keep the project moving.

I pretty much did all this work on a time and material basis knowing that errors would need to be corrected or that unexpected issues would need to be paid for. The other option would be hard quote with built in rework cost for unknowns that may not even happen.

I would highly recommend any of these subs to handle your custom bath remodel. The master bath is equally as impressive but I didn't have "before" pictures to show and it included heated floor units.

Just thought I would share as my experience was great with these guys and we ultimately got the WOW factor we were looking for.

The bottom line is I used some of the $25k saving to get the latest and greatest custom features and these sub contractors are experienced on how to install the latest and greatest systems.

They came out and painted the interior of my home and did a wonderful job. John was upfront with the cost and in the end it didn't even cost as much as expected. They were able to come out quickly and did the work in only two days. I will definitely use them again when it comes time to paint my kitchen cabinets

I own a home in Lynchburg and I reside 2.5 hours away. John and Straight Line Painting was recommended to me, and I contacted them right away to paint the interior of the home. John was always very responsive, honest, trustworthy, timely and the quality of his work was wonderful. Thank you for making a potentially challenging long distance situation hassle free and smooth. We will definitely be reaching out to them again!

John and his guys were great. Upfront with pricing and really accommodating to some schedule changes on my end. He and the team got our walls skimmed and prepped for painting quickly and the workmanship is fantastic. John also offered lots of helpful tips to my wife and I as we are doing a lot of the home renovation work ourselves. Overall, to anyone looking for quality work, a friendly team, and good pricing, I'd recommend Straight Line in a heartbeat.

If you want the BEST painter & the MOST UPFRONT, HONEST & RESPONSIVE individual in the area, Jon & his team are it!!

When my family relocated back to Lynchburg, our realtor, Kensie Johnson, referred us to Jon @ Straight Line. Jon was EXTREMELY responsive & he didn't leave us hanging like some contractors did. Jon was easy to work with & his workmanship was FANTASTIC.

Our first project together was when he painted the interior of the home. Needless to say, it was wonderful. Then we had him put in 2 exterior wooden railings. We then had Jon build a custom built in toy box/storage chest in our sunroom. Today, he just finished painting the exterior of the home.

If you're tired of the unreliable, unresponsive & apathetic contractors around us, call Jon.

If you want a good & reliable guy, Jon is the man.

Poorest tile work I have ever seen - and as a homeowners insurance adjuster I have seen a lot. Laid numerous broken and chipped tiles even though there was more than enough tile to do the job. When chipped tiles were pointed out he used a pen to color the chipped area in. Thinset was poorly applied. Some tiles could actually be moved after the thinset dried. When notified of the problem John said the grout would take care of the loose tiles. His crew used tools belonging to the homeowner to complete the job. Both days his crew was on site expensive tools belonging to the homeowner were taken and were returned in poor condition only after the homeowner discovered they were missing. John and his crew left their trash - wrappers, cups and fast food bags sitting on the counters. If I could give negative stars I would.

Needed to have a room in my basement redone after some flooding and and having a pump put in. We needed flooring, drywall and painting. Called John and he came by the same day and looked at what needed to be done and gave me a price estimate that same evening that was very fair. I hired him and he started after his already booked commitments were taken care of. John and his crew (Jason and Matt) showed up on Thursday morning and were done with everything by Friday afternoon. They laid a new floor (vinyl planking) hung and finished the drywall, put up a tongue and groove accent wall, and painted the entire room. I was amazed they did everything in two days. I was very satisfied with the work and John checked in often to make sure things were like we wanted. I’ll definitely be hiring him again for future projects!

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
