Spartan Homes built our Lake House in 2009. Their pricing was inline with other builders we contacted. Over our lifetimes we’ve had several homes built. By far Spartan was our best experience by far. They suggested changes in the design and implemented many changes we requested at a reasonable cost. The home was completed on time despite the numerous changes that were implemented. Their Sub Contractors were terrific. The customer care after completion was exemplary. Any issues that arose (there were very few) were addressed in a timely fashion and to our satisfaction. We couldn’t have asked for a better builder!

Spartan built our home in 2018-2019. The project was done on budget, on time with good quality materials. We have been in the home for 4 years and have had minimal issues. We would recommend using this builder for your custom home project.

We built a semi custom home with Eric and his team. We can’t recommend them enough. We chose our plan, and then they worked with us to modify the plan to our wishes. Eric and the team then hit all the construction deadlines (which shocked us). And all throughout, we were just blown away by their attention to detail. We have bought several homes (moved a lot for work), and have never had as easy a process as Spartan delivered. Would recommend to anyone and would look forward to working with them again (though we have no intention of leaving the home they built us)

When my wife and I were looking for a builder for a project we contacted several builders, some wouldn’t even call us back. Spartan Homes was the only one that took the time to look at our project. Eric and his team explained all of our options and they were professional and very thorough on the details for the completion of the project.

Spartan Builders recently built a 4000sf family vacation home for us on the water front at Lake Anna, VA. The Co-construct process they use helped us know what was needed from us and kept Spartan on time. It also helped us know what costs were included and what options were an up-grade. The entire staff at Spartan was cordial and helpful and always kept their commitments and promises. We got a quality home for a reasonable price and would recommend that you consider Spartan Builders for your next project.

My wife and I moved into our Lake Anna home on March the 10th 2020, just 3 days before COVID "closed the world." Eric Henry of Spartan Homes, working directly with us, handled the design and building of our retirement home. He worked with us as went went through 4 designs revisions, which took us a year before we began construction. Eric provided us with the flexibility we needed The end result is that Spartan Homes took us through the processes, was very supportive and responsive, and gave us our dream home. It was and is a pleasure to deal with Eric and his Spartan team.

We are very pleased with our new home from Spartan. They build a very high quality house and are nice to deal with. Everything they do is top notch. Many of the features I didn't expect and noticed after it was finished. We highly recommend them.
I would like to add to my review that Spartan's follow up has been tremendous since we closed, and they have been very helpful in many ways that are not part of the their responsibility like helping us contact the county , get internet etc.. Also I have used some of the Spartan sub contractors for some extra work and they are also top notch professionals.

Spartan Homes built our dream home/forever home in 2019-2020. We are proud of the home they helped us build and the entire building experience (pre, during, and post build) was fantastic.

We interviewed 8 builders; reviewed their standings (BBB, online); spoke with existing customers; and walked the model homes or homes under construction. We did our due diligence and wanted a solid, well-built, high quality, and energy efficient home backed by a team of skilled, easy-to-work with, and reliable and responsive staff with an eye for detail. We wanted a builder with a long-standing history with their team/subks who manages them efficiently/effectively with quality throughout. We’ve built before and renovated before – we knew what we wanted. We interviewed each asking questions to uncover what our end result would be. For example, I don't want items in my China cabinet to rattle when walking across the room. One builder asked what type of joists we wanted -- they should design to prevent the problem from occurring vs us having to do their homework. Additionally, we also asked to tour in progress and finished houses to understand their attention to detail and finishes. Some builders refused to show their final product - why?

We selected Spartan - they met all of our criteria - and are pleased with the outcome. They exceeded our expectations and demonstrated why they are different from the other builders. They always treated us professionally, were in constant communication, worked with us hand in hand and explained things in layman’s terms, responded promptly to inquiries, and acted with accountability.

Spartan went beyond the standard – they overbuild as part of their base product. Things we had to ask other builders for were standard in Spartan homes. 9’ ceilings in basements, rounded drywall corners, superior drainage systems, etc. No nickeling and diming.

Subk relationships were 10+ years and held to high standards. Co-Construct software kept us up to date, included daily pictures, details for every aspect of the home, allowed reviews and changes to selection with price adjustments, ability to ask questions and keep track of messages. Very useful, engaging, and assured on budget and schedule.

Speaking of budget, the house plan we selected did not come in under our budget. Spartan worked with us to make changes that did not alter the overall look and feel of what we wanted but reduced the costs significantly and maximized our waterfront views. For example, by reducing our ceiling height from 14’ to 12’, it altered the truss system substantially lowering costs, and hardly noticeable. We asked other builders for suggestions and told ‘we build to the plan you selected’ and were not willing to consider change PRIOR to plan submission with county. Spartan worked with us to make appropriate changes, adjusted our price accordingly, and followed through with their commitment.

They also rate at the highest NAHB certified green level, third-party independently verified, cutting utility bills nearly in half.

We were comforted knowing our house was going to be delivered on-time, on-budget, as promised, and at an exceptional crafted quality regardless of if we checked in or not. We never questioned Spartan’s integrity and never will. They stood by their word then and continue to do so today, even 3 years after moving in. We broke something, while be it minor, and asked them for recommendations on how/who should fix it. The next day they replaced the part with no charge. Now, no one should ever take advantage of such, but we do appreciate their continued commitment to ensuring our dream home remains our dream home.

Spartan is family-owned and operated, honest, reliable, and easy-to-work with company. We highly recommend them for anyone wanting a custom, quality-built home with impeccable service. I consider Spartan more than a home builder; I consider them dream makers.

Spartan is truly the BEST at home building! Not only are they VERY responsive before and during the build they also stand behind their craftsmanship years after completion.
Eric Henry is a perfectionist and expects the same from his employees and sub contractors. If I had it to do again I’d still go with Spartan without any hesitation.

We were impressed by Spartans attention to detail. Every conceivable aspect of the process from the driveway to the well and septic to each light fixture and on and on are taken care of with quality workmanship. We love our new home !

Spartan Homes is an outstanding builder - we highly recommend them. Our home was just completed in May and we couldn't be happier. The quality and craftsmanship is superb. From the moment we met Eric we knew Spartan was going to be our builder. The entire Spartan team is responsive and was always patient with the hundreds of questions we had throughout the process. Their construction portal is fantastic providing visibility into all our selections, construction progress, weekly pictures and a record of all e-mail communications. Bryan, our construction manager, was terrific! Every week he would send us a note on what was accomplished that week and what was scheduled for the following week - including pictures of the progress. We always felt very informed. We were also very impressed with the vendors they work with for flooring, cabinets, and granite - all were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in making our selections. The entire family at Spartan - Eric, Megan, Krista, and Matthew were a pleasure to work with. If we ever build another home, they'll be the 1st ones we call.

Spartan custom built us a home on Lake Anna last year. We’ve had the keys since October and are loving it. Beautiful home that we designed using another home they built as a model and adding a few upgrades/changes. Design and build process was easy. No problems with the house detected after 4 mos. We found the owner, Eric, to be honest and fair. I would highly recommend Spartan.
