Solid State actually did both my and my sons home with 2 different crews. We went with the Hardie board clapboards and trim. While certainly not "inexpensive", this is a true case of VALUE. The product is top notch and we will never have to to another thing to the exterior of my home and my sons home.

Two different crews worked through VERY COLD days (and SNOWY) and got the jobs done. Both crews were AWESOME. The quality of the product was matched by the quality of the installation work.

Some important things to note:

- They worked fast and effectively, the job of complete stripping of the cedar shakes and trim was done in a few days. Wrapping and weather proofing only another few days.

- The installation of the Hardie Board was meticulous and not rushed.

- The teams cleaned up everyday and after the job was completed both yards were spotless!

Anytime I had a question or concern, it was addressed in a timely manner.

We needed to have the siding on our house replaced after finding out that the original contractor hadn’t put any weatherproofing under the siding and we developed some leaks into the house. I asked around in the town Facebook group and one of the recommendations was Solid State Construction. We met with Jarrod, the sales rep, and he was great about explaining the whole process, going over our options, and addressing our concerns. We had hired another company to do doors, windows, and some other exterior work and got kind of burned by them, so we were very cautious going into this project and asked a lot of questions. Jarrod was great about answering all of our questions and we ultimately decided to go with Solid State Construction for the project. We were really happy with the work they did. The crew was great and the project manager, Thiago, was also great about answering any questions we had and addressing any concerns. We would highly recommend Solid State Construction if you’re looking for new siding.

The folks from Solid State Construction were very professional, friendly and polite. They took great care residing our house, communicating questions and status frequently. We felt included in the process and are happy we chose Solid State Construction to do the work. The value and skill they bring to a job make it easy for us to recommend them.

Hired this company to come and replace our deck after being damaged during a thunderstorm. The whole process with them was amazing! Adam listened to what we wanted done and kept open communication with me the whole time! Crew is professional and very polite!! Any question/concern I had was answered immediately with no BS. I would recommend them again and use them in the future!

Installed full house Hardie siding. Everyone was great, from front office to crew. Small hiccup with not ordering enough factory painted Hardieboard trim pieces. Crew handpainted every unpainted piece they had to install. Solid State gave me a credit and informed me that they and Hardie will honor original warranty and cover the non-factory painted pieces. Crew was efficient, pleasant and kept job site very clean. Whole job was completed in a little more than a week. Great experience. Would highly recommend!

We selected Solid State from 5 companies, and we are very happy with the result (James Hardie siding). Sales person (Adam) was great, he explained what exactly should be done in our case, and his explanations were the most reasonable. Unlike others he did not inflate the price so that he would be able to lower it later, and his price was very reasonable. He explained that we will not pay in advance for unexpected problems like rotten wood because he does not expect substantial problems and he does not want to charge us many thousands in advance for something we most likely will not need (and he appeared right, these extra charges were reasonable and minimal). The guys that did the job were great. They paid attention to everything, they knew what they were doing, and the quality was excellent. They implemented all our reasonable requests and very politely explained why a few requests were not reasonable (they were right!). The workplace was clean at the end of each day. The result was even better than we expected.

Solid State just wrapped up completion on an extensive job for our two family home which included a new roof, removal of four skylights and a massive two story deck.
The first face of Solid State that we had the pleasure of meeting with was Adam, who came out for the initial assessment and planning of our project. Adam was very personable, knowledgeable and extremely easy to work with. He promptly returned with an estimate and a detailed presentation about the company and their products so that we were well informed and confident before we made the decision to hire Solid State.
The owner, Jeff took the time to come out and meet with us, he also spent many hours with the planning of our rather complicated set up to accommodate both a lower and upper deck. Jeff made himself available by phone, text and email and quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had.

spent 70k for residing the whole house. I called 4 times and sent email asking about when they will come out to take a look at the water damage to the soffit, but never got a response back. Same typical company that once they got your money, they won't be back for sure if you have any problems.

I recently had 17 double hung windows and two large casement sliders replaced by Solid State. I am thoroughly satisfied with the quality and choice of the (US made) windows from Provia, the patient and low-pressure sales approach, the follow-on communication and project management, the professionalism, efficiency and workmanship of installation crew and subsequent follow-up from management. Their price was very competitive with the 3 other companies that bid the job; I felt I got remarkable value at the price point.

Want to share our great experience with Solid State Construction and James Hardie siding. With the house having been painted at least four times, the results of a fifth were going to be less than desired. The pictures pretty much show the before and after. It was a complete stripping of shingles, soffits, etc. Also the windows were replaced. The result is stunning, and many people walking by stopped and asked about the job. Also want to add the great experience with the crew. They were on site every day(except one Holiday and a rain day), cleaned up at the end of the day. It was also beneficial to have anticipated some unexpected issues, especially in a 55 year old house.

It's really hard to say enough good things about Solid State. They are certainly not a low cost option, but when you really get into these types of jobs, the experience, installation approach, quality, and attention to detail is what matters the most. The project manager, Vinnie, assigned to our job was incredible and gave us confidence and transparency throughout the entire process. The QA lead they assigned (former Hardie employee) walked through the house with us and made sure any small items were taken care of to our satisfaction - and shared many valuable tips for maintenance going forward. It goes without saying, the finished product looks incredible.

We had a great experience working with Solid State Construction and are quite happy with the finished product. We had vinyl siding and the original lead painted clapboard removed from our 1950s house and replaced with James Hardie siding. We also had 10 windows replaced.

From the start, I was impressed with Solid State. I really enjoyed working with Kerri on the initial designs and decisions, and then once work started, Chris and his crew were always very responsive and easy to communicate with.

We got multiple estimates for this job and while Solid State was the most expensive, I also felt the most confidence in them and I was not disappointed.

Issues will always pop up with this kind of work. But any issue we had was resolved promptly and professionally and without any drama. Solid State Construction did a phenomenal job revitalizing and preserving my beloved (but very weather beaten) 132-year-old, 3-1/2-story Victorian home with James Hardie siding and 19 ProVia windows! From my first call to the company, through the creative design consultations with Kerri T. via Zoom, the demolition and installation phase led with skill and a keen attention to detail by Project Manager Brandon K., Crew Chief Ezequiel S. and his team, Quality Control Consultant Rudi D., and the trouble-shooting expertise of Electrician Steve, the helpful updates from Executive Assistant Jackie C., up until the final punch list item was done, it was clear this talented team not only knew all about James Hardie siding and how to install it, but how to do so skillfully and carefully on an older home. A small yard and common driveway also posed challenges for equipment set up, material storage, and debris collection, but the team dealt with all of that in stride. Communication throughout the project was EXCELLENT. Daily texts, regular phone calls, and on-site chats with Brandon ensured my peace of mind as the work progressed. The window and siding installation crew members were extremely punctual, hard working, courteous, and respectful. It was heartening to hear the team share my enthusiasm for this project as we watched the house transformed from the saddest looking one on the street to the most beautiful! From the beginning it was clear to me that Solid State was a different construction company. It wasn't just the sales team's low pressure attitude or showing the value they provide, or what they have done for other clients for that matter, it was the communication that really stuck out. We contracted Solid State Construction to replace the siding, trim and front door of our home. As it is a 19th Century Victorian in a historic district, the house demanded a specialized approach. The team at Solid State exceeded our expectations amidst historic district approvals, weather and production delays. The team deftly guided us to project completion while keeping us informed in a timely manner throughout the process. We are thrilled with the final result!

Solid State Construction saved me from a horrible and less than honest contractor who's work was dangerously bad and looked like it was done by remedial wood shop students. It took only a week to see that they were making a mess of my home. And ruining expensive James Hardie siding product and trim. Not to mention papering over existing holes from their window installation. They must have thought the siding would cover it up.
Solid State Construction advised me on how to proceed with properly residing my home, from rewrapping the house , properly mounting and attaching and sealing the new windows, and repairing any underlayment that required it. Basically starting over in Dec of 2020.
The crew worked in awful winter conditions, and took the time to do it beautifully and correctly. I can't say enough good things. Steve, Brandon, Norman and crew are worth every penny. And more. You cannot go wrong with Solid State Construction. Take it from someone who tried elsewhere.

The estimate was thorough and they took the time to make sure I understood all parts of the job. Once materials arrived they made it happen in a matter of days working literally from sun up to sun down until it was completed. A great job.

Our project included replacement of siding, trim, roof and windows. Work was started and completed during covid. Though time estimates were a little off, the work was completed within the contracted time (pretty good under the circumstances). Work quality was very good for all subs. Supervisors and main office were easily accessible and responsive. Costs were transparent, reasonable and within initial estimates. We had installed James Hardy products. The crews had very good knowledge and experience with the product. I'm very pleased with the outcome and confident in the long-term quality of their work. We had some exterior repairs done as well as removing all wood siding and replacing with Hardie fiber cement siding, installing gutters, and shutters. The house looks INCREDIBLE!! It was great working with Solid State Construction; the people are easy to reach and responsive to any questions or concerns, easy to talk to, and flexible! The installers- Norman and his team are the best - they are super nice and respectful, work diligently while also paying attention to detail and not taking shortcuts, clean up at the end of each day, and my dogs absolutely adore them! We loved having them work at the house and would absolutely reach out to Solid State for any other projects that might come up!

We hired Solid State to do our siding project - and we're so glad we did! They installed James Hardie siding and trim on the whole house and installed gutters. Throughout the 2 month project, our PM, Chris was very responsive and helpful, we felt confident that he had a firm understanding of the project and that he would do whatever he could to make sure we were happy with the end product. we hired SSC to replace the siding and exterior trim on our house in summer/fall 2021.

they were by far the best contractors I've worked with, and I've worked with a lot of them on this house. they were super communicative, very clear about what was or was not included in any line item of the contract, responsive to questions or requests we had during the project, and didn't give us our final invoice until we were 100% happy (two different people came out to check on the work and to ask us if we were completely satisfied). the main crew was fast (our estimate was 4-6 weeks; they were done in two and a half), clean (really good about putting tarps on the lawn where they were doing any cutting of material etc), and friendly, and the other trades who came in seemed fine too. SSC's field guy stopped by probably every other day to make sure everything was running smoothly.

I honestly can't say enough good things about working with SSC and would hire them again in a second.

Just completed the re-siding of our house with Hardy Plank siding, as well as installation of a sliding glass door out to our deck. Very pleased with final outcome. Crew repaired several areas of rot which were exposed upon removal of old 40+ year old siding.

I spent a few months researching construction companies for the project, and every step of the way, Sold State Construction proved themselves to be ahead of the competition.

From my initial interest, the communication was consistent. They followed up every step of the way, and ensured I was comfortable moving forward. Frank, our project consultant, spent the time going over what we wanted in our finished home. It was a soup to nuts review of everything from the trim, to the color. The software they used allowed us to have a vision of what the house would look like when complete.

Once we made our decision to move forward with Solid State, we felt confident we made the right decision. Their whole internal team was patient and continued to make sure we were comfortable as we made the deposit, and Alex always called to check in to see if there was anything else they could do for us.

As the project start date neared, Lisa reached out and I was certain we were in good hands. Her amazing personality, her humor, and her down to earth nature made it seem like I was working with people I've known for years. She helped us prepare for the demo, and introduced us to our construction team led by Chris Lamica.

Chris was there on day one, explained how things were going to proceed, and made it clear what they were going to do and what we need to do. He had to share how the project had to be adjusted due to prior siding, our rafter tails, and was always upfront about what needed to happen and why. We felt confident speaking openly with Chris, and he respected our decisions as we moved forward with any adjustments to the scope of work.

Once we got the project started I was a little shocked by the demo of the old siding and whatever else needed to be torn off the house. It's loud, and frankly a bit unnerving to hear and feel your home being torn down from the outside.

The demo team was amazing though...they were thorough, efficient and worked really hard. They were so clean, to the point where they were going through our neighbor's property every day to ensure there was no debris. Not to mention the surrounding area in our driveway and yard so we never had to worry about the dog or kids stepping on anything.

The construction and siding team were also some of the best I've seen. They varied on the number of people from day to day (depending on what had to happen on the house), but the crew was efficient, hardworking and actually had fun! There was singing, and there was laughter and there was joy on the project. My wife and I actually missed them when they weren't there.

Also there was a lot of carpentry on our job. They rebuilt the soffit and fascia, and their lead carpenter was AMAZING. I have a neighbor that's a carpenter, and he would stop and just talk about the quality of the work and how it was tight. Not only was he good, he took the time to show/teach some of the other crew how he was doing things. He built a complete custom window frame to make the siding flush, and you would never know that it wasn't factory built.

The project slowed toward the end, when we were ready for it to be done but we made it across the finish line and couldn't be happier with the finished results.

Also shout out to Steve, as his graciousness and professionalism (and patience) shined when we thought..."Sure let's see about getting a new front door, since we're doing the siding" without even considering that's a project in itself....Thanks Steve!

To wrap things up Chris and Lisa came to the house, brought some pastries and walked through everything to ensure we were satisfied with the end results. They took care of our punch list items, and we have what feels like a brand new home...it was quite an amazing process.

So for those that are doing their research (like we did) on choosing a company to transform their home (and made it this far), I will just say Solid State was a great partner from beginning to end.

Solid State replaced my siding and repaired my front porch. The results were amazing. I love the detail of the framing of all the windows and doors. Brandon King managed the crew that worked on my project. They were there early every day and the stripping and major replacement was done quickly. Once they were down to the final details they worked cautiously so the final pieces were perfect. I had this done at the time of year when the weather is unpredictable. We had some snow, a couple of very windy days, and lots of rain. Brandon always kept me informed when his crew would be out and when it would not be safe for them to be there. They worked weekends and late into the day to keep the project on track. My front porch was a mess from work a handyman did for the prior owner. Though not part of the original contract the office worked with me to get this done at the same time. I went back and forth and had some small changes once the porch was opened up and more issues were identified. The company worked with me and was very accommodating throughout the whole process. I can’t say enough about how much better it looks. More importantly, it feels safe and I know It is built right. The house is nearly 100 years old so some things were off aesthetically. They did a very nice job masking the imperfections. The whole time Brandon worked with me and made suggestions and was very mindful that the finished porch would blend with the rest of the house. There was also an inspector who showed up intermittently to check on the progress. All the people I worked with from the salesman to the front office were professional and very customer service oriented. The electrician and the gutter people were also very easy to work with. Several of my neighbors came over during the process more than once to say it looked fantastic. My family and friends cannot believe the transformation. If it were not for the older details and the few windows I still have to replace you would think it was a new build. I met with 4 companies before I settled on Solid State and the James Hardie product. It did quote in the higher price range compared to some of other choices but the work is guaranteed for 30 years and the materials used are superior to the other siding I looked at. And I never paid any more than what I was quoted. I worked with the salesman and we discussed some small details I could add which did not raise the price significantly and gave the house a whole new look. I ended up going with the cedar style plank boards and added some shingle details. It is so much nicer than just being covered in a single design. They even helped me hang my mailbox and replaced an older, crumbling light fixture. Lisa Wyn from the office came out to thank me and was able to give me some photos of the house before the job had started. I wished I had taken more once I saw the transformation. Since they take so many for the job initially she was able to help me get what I needed. It was worth every penny and I am so happy with the results. I was so stressed about getting taken advantage of on such a large project since I know so little about what goes into it but I have no regrets choosing Solid State ]. There is so much contact and discussion throughout the whole project I always understood what was happening and why. Of course, price is important but the little details and customer service mean a lot to me too. I love seeing my house when I turn the corner. I recommend them highly and definitely would use them again on future projects.

I had Solid State replace my ROOF, SKY LIGHT, Hardie Board SIDING, 2 DOORS and GUTTERS. The roofing crew, 6 people, was very fast and thorough. A new skylight was also installed. The primary carpenter for the siding was very good. I would hire him again. His helper was ok. A second helper was better. I had many questions and they were addressed to my satisfaction. The Electricians were very good, I bought my own fixtures and they provided the extras I needed to complete the installation. The Gutter guy went above 100% installing a larger gutter than quoted, due to size of roof. Lisa, in the office is very good, Chris the Foreman is also good to work with.
Cons: Winter, makes everything harder.
Would I use them again? Probably . If I need to? I have extra parts .

Solid state was absolutely wonderful to work with. I used them to install new Hardie plank siding on a three family in Cambridge - it came out beautifully. From start to finish they were professional and worked closely with me to line up everything I needed to do before they started (asbestos removal, and insulation). They also coordinated with my other contractors to make sure everything ran smoothly! Unlike most contractors they started and finished when they said they would and did a great job cleaning up! I would highly recommend them.

I have a 368-year-old house that desperately needed to be resided. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to go with clapboard again or if I wanted to use Hardie plank. I contacted Solid State construction and spoke with one of their sales reps. It appeared that Hardy plank was my best option. I could not have been happier with this company from start to finish. They kept me informed, did an amazing job on my crooked old house, their employees were professional, exceedingly friendly, and I couldn't have asked for a better company. Solid State installed my Hardie Siding and its beautiful and professionally installed. Jeff was easy to work with and very accommodating. They also did two sets of stairs which are also awesome and professionally installed. This was on a newly constructed home. Quality materials and quality only workmanship which is not easy to find these days.

Complete roofing and siding replacement, including metal and asphalt shingle roof, individual Hardie shingles, PVC trim, exterior doors, porch decking, porch skirts, gutters and downspouts. Roof was structurally upgraded to handle solar, and included a full layer of rigid insulation to fix ice damn problems. Siding included full stripping of existing shingles and an additional layer of plywood sheathing over the original planking to add stiffness and proper backing for new siding. Great coordination with our window replacement contractor (which was completed first). Additional followup work was excellent and maintained the same look and high level of quality.
We would hire them back every time!

After hearing very positive things about Solid State Construction, I chose Jeff and his company to rebuild a first floor porch, originally a deck, that required structural support from below. The team assigned to my project were reliable, courteous, efficient and highly skilled, especially when problem-solving unleveled and off-plumb spaces. Once underway, it became apparent that additional structural support would be necessary; I was made aware of this possibility prior to signing the contract. Jeff’s team did not miss a beat; ditches were dug, footings poured and new structural walls went up. I love my 3 season porch and because of the construction and insulation, it feels more like a year-round space. The 6 large casement windows and beautiful ProVia glass door allow the sun to warm the porch and brighten the kitchen. I will just add that the basement storage area, beneath the porch, also underwent a major upgrade as a result of this project, which greatly improved the space. I was extremely satisfied with the end result of my project and highly recommend Solid State Construction.

We had spent more than two years searching for the right siding material and the right company to install it. When I spoke to Adam for our quote I was confident that we found the right company and after some minor negotiations we settled on a fair price. Nick and Lisa handled our customer experience and coordinated the crew for us. Diaz and the team did a fantastic job on the removal of our old siding, installation of shearing as well as the new HardiePlank. We chose to use an unfinished/primed material to paint to our preferred color by another company. We had a few minor issues with the initial fit & finish of the install but the the crew kept coming back to fix minor issues until we were perfectly happy. This is a MAJOR investment into your home and they understand the need to be completely happy at the end. The team at Solid State can be trusted at their word when they assure you total happiness. We have no regrets and love that they turned our 60 year old home into what appears to be new construction. Well done!

i hired Solid State Construction to re-shingle my roof. They responded quickly. Solid State set up a Zoom meeting to discuss my roofing and finance options. They were very communicative through every step. The roofers showed on time, were professional and polite, and did a great job cleaning up after the project was completed.

My antique cape is now maintenence free thanks to Solid State Construction. They stripped and resided my entire house with a combination of Hardie plank and vertical cedar siding. All the trim including windows, facia, sofits, etc were all replaced with Hardie product. All this done without losing any of the charm and character that is so important to me. Let's admit it, finding the right contractor is usually difficult, sometimes resulting in a long and drawn out construction phase and poor workmanship. Not with Solid State Construction! They were on budget, professional, and the excellent quality of work has resulted in my house being a showpiece. I have no regrets!

We hired Solid State Construction to install new siding on our 30 year old home. We wanted to replace our very dry and cracking vertical cedar siding and researched several local contractors who could install Board and Batten siding but we selected Solid State as they could install the James HardieBoard Aspire siding vertically. The SSC crew arrived and completed the siding removal, re-wrapping, siding installation and necessary trim replacement within the 2-3 week period that they stated that it would be completed. Work areas were cleaned after each day and for the few minor issues that arose, the Site Project manager Chris was available via cell phone and would arrive to ensure that the crew was on-point with what needed to be done. Kudos to the field crew of Johnny and Zack who worked hard through the COVID-19 face covering protocol in the heat of summer. PM Chris and other team members were very responsive to any and all requests.

SSC replaced the siding on my house this summer. From start to finish they were prompt, professional, and adaptable. They understood my needs and guided me to the best solution. They also used technology creatively to develop a no-contact estimate, contract review / signing and payment arrangements. The siding project is now wrapped up and they have done an AWESOME job. Chris, the project manager, was great to work with and the guys were very pleasant, skilled and professional. I'm super pleased and am planning more work with SSC in the near future.

Solid state construction was a pleasure to work with from quote to completion of the siding/gutters we were extremely pleased with the final product! We would highly recommend them.

In early January, I noticed a trade sign for Solid State Construction in a neighbor's yard. They were installing James Hardy siding on their home, and though II had never heard of Solid State Construction or that James Hardy was in the siding business, I was impressed by the appearance of the siding, and called the company to request a quote.

Their Sales Rep called me the next day, and came to our home (pre-Covid 19) to explain their process and show me the products that would be used. We decided to request a quote for a new roof at the same time.
He took pictures that were later turned into a detailed, dimensioned set of drawings.

We met a few days later and after reviewing his quote, and several questions about options, alternatives, etc. decided to sign up.

The project got underway a couple of weeks later, and aside from a few rain days, and a short delay to seek state permission to continue the job during the Covid 19 shutdown, two or three workers were on the site every day.

I cannot say enough about the quality of workmanship I observed. Every cut and joint was made precisely to the James Hardy requirements for installation. The job site was cleaned every day, and materials kept neatly stacked and covered with tarps. The roof was replaced while the old siding shingles were being removed, and was completed in one day.

I wasn't impressed with the electrician sent to reconnect outlets and lights at the end of the project. The gutter contractor was fast, and careful, and used heavy gauge aluminum, with brackets every 12-14."

Every question I had was cheerfully answered, and their execution met or exceeded the contract requirements. I am a very satisfied customer!

Solid State recently replaced the clapboard siding on one side of my house. The design details, materials and workmanship was very high quality and on schedule. The initial estimates included discussion of the important flashing details which is an indication of their design focus on small details that will make a lot of difference in the long term durability. They also use PVC trim and include extra wide trim where splashing could be an issue. The James Hardie siding material is an excellent product but it must be applied correctly which was done. I believe Solid State is one of the largest users of James Hardie siding in the North East.
so they really know how to apply it well. The removal of the old siding was done in one day by a crew trained for just that work and all debris was cleaned and removed. The Hardie underlayment material is very strong and was well taped at all seams. The siding and flashing was installed by a second team who were true artists. The job was done perfectly and minor extra requests (making two vent PVC mounts for another part of the house that was not part of the quote) were done readily by a crew who obviously new what complete service really means. The final pleasant surprise came when I found that the Hardie siding used does not require paint so there was a considerable cost savings on that. Contracts and billing was all done on line and seamlessly. All in all an excellent experience. I will use Solid State in the future and recommend them to others.

Solid State did an amazing job with our roof replacement. We contracted with Solid state in Jan 2020 to do our roof. Then the Coronavirus hit! We decided to delay the job until Massachusetts opened up to all construction. Nick, our project manager, kept in touch with us throughout and was easy to contact when we had questions. This week (June 15) the job was completed. The crew (at least 8 men) was amazing. In one day, they stripped the old asphalt shingles from the house and garage and replaced them with the new Ultra product line. The crew was courteous, hard-working and efficient. A few of the crew came back on the second day to complete installation of the skirt boards by the dormers. The dumpster was retrieved on the third day after completion of the job and cleanup. The crew completed all the work outlined on the contract and cleaned up very well. Nick was very helpful throughout. I would highly recommend Solid State. They were more expensive than some of the other contractors we contacted but we feel the cost was well worth the end product and experience.

My two home improvement projects, new roof and new entry way, were to be started and completed during the April time frame. Challenged with the COVID-19 and state restrictions, NIck our project manager was able to start early, and execute superbly. A consummate professional and committed to complete customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Solid State for any project, and suggest to ask for Nick specifically!

My expectations were definitely exceeded. The roof is beautiful, the quality of the product and installation were outstanding. The job was done in a day, with a crew of 8 who were professional and industrious. Everyone knew what to do and where to work - it was like watching a well rehearsed orchestra. Attention to detail, including cleanup were amazing.

Lately, our roof had been showing stain and moss all over the surface. In addition, after windy rainstorms, we were finding water stains on our interior walls and ceilings as well as various shingle pieces throughout our yard. So, along with my husband, David, I began to do research on companies that replace roofs on residential houses. As part of this process, we talked to our friend Tina Delatina Rosa who is the Quality Assurance, Marketing and Events Coordinator for Solid State Construction. This led to Tina and Rob Blanchflower, a Project Consultant for Solid State, visiting our home on January 17 to assess our needs. With absolutely no pressure but lots and lots of professionalism and competence, Tina and Rob studied our roofing structure both inside and outside, including a tough to get into and out (for former NFL tight end Rob) assessment of our attic space. In a relaxed presentation around the dining room table, Rob told us who Solid State Construction and their product supplier, GAF, are. Everything was clearly explained; from old roof removal to installation of new underlayment and ventilation systems and finally of the GAF shingle product. GAF guarantees this product for 50 years if it is installed complying with GAF’s strict standards and, of course, Solid State Construction is a certified GAF installer. The price was actually higher than some of the other options we looked at, but the comprehensiveness of Rob’s presentation and the absolute pride he exuded while describing the merits of Solid State and GAF convinced David and me that this is the way to go.

On Saturday, March 21, Tina along with Solid State Construction Assistant Project Manager, Nick Keegan, showed up early in the morning with eight workers. Watching these men during the day I realized just how well trained and experienced a crew Nick was overseeing. Of immediate note to me was that right from the beginning at least one worker was assigned to clean up. No having a giant heap of a mess to clean up at the end of the day when everyone is tired and wants to go home. Along the way and after removing the old roof, previously unseen problems appeared. This required replacement of rotted structural boards and cross members which Nick had his men do without looking to nickel and dime us in the process. A good-sized portion of our roof covers a family room that we added to the house years ago. It was covered with regular shingles, but Nick advised me that a far superior covering because of the pitch of the roof would be rubber. So, right there while actually carrying out the work activity, a significant change in scope was made with no increase in cost or time to complete the project. At the end of the day, with only a few minor items that were taken care of the next morning, the project was done and everything was cleaned up. The quality of the final product fully reflects the expertise and professional workmanship of Nick Keegan and his extremely hard-working project team. Two of our neighbors spent years in the construction trades and they came over to tell David this is complete quality and professional job. One, usually skeptical, said, “Dave, when they told you to put rubber rather than regular shingles over the family room, that’s when I knew these guys knew what they were doing.” We couldn’t say it better. We are totally pleased and satisfied with our roof replacement provided by Solid State Construction and its product supplier GAF. We very strongly recommend them. Oh, of course, we had some questions after everybody left. No problem, David just called Nick Keegan who responded right away.

We discovered we had a leak in our roof in late November. After doing due-diligence we decided to go with Solid State Construction.
From the first time we met with the sales rep (Heidi) we felt comfortable with our choice. Heidi was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had. (and some we had not asked)
We settled on materials and such, and the crew showed up when expected. Due to the extreme weather we had, the roof took a day longer than expected, but that crew was up on the roof working on a day it was 9 degrees out. The crew cleaned up after themselves and were so quiet, we didn't realize they were gone. Rob, the site manager kept in constant contact and answered any questions we had. Over all, a great experience and a nice new roof! We will use them again should we ever have another construction project.

A total win, from initial consultation through project completion. Solid State works very hard to make the home renovation experience as stress-free and professional as the end-results. They're honest, they show up when they say, and they do really great work.

We had our home re-sided with HardieBoard, with new windows and new front and side doors, as well. Solid State worked with suppliers to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. Went over a lot of up-front options to make sure we were happy with the new look of our home.

Chris (our project manager) and Jeff (owner) took a lot of time to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Let's face it: these types of projects can be expensive and fill you with anxiety. Take the best route and go with these guys. You'll be happy you did.

The sales process with Solid State was a pleasure. Andy was very knowledgeable about the product and really sold us on their Hardie Elite preferred status. They were the most expensive of the quotes we received but we decided to hire them with the expectation of a high quality job.

The crew started the project earlier than expected but within 1 week things were off to a rocky start. While pulling off our old siding they managed to break a window, left exposed areas of the house open to the rain and punched multiple holes through our drywall. We observed them taking shortcuts (using nails instead of staples on the wrap since they didn’t have the supplies on hand), neglecting to install flashing and not following proper siding patterns (i.e. you should never have overlapping seams!). It seemed like this was their first ever project. We were absolutely furious considering we paid a premium for “supposedly” expert installers. The project manager Joe was very reasonable and he brought in a whole new crew. The second group was much more professional and did a nice job. Once the siding was up, the crew packed up their gear and somewhat disappeared. They turned the project over to their service team and it took multiple weeks to get the final punchlist items resolved. The service team was very courteous and also did a nice job but that group must be understaffed due to the long delays.

A straightforward siding job ended up taking over 2.5 months to complete. I’ll give them 3 stars for making things right in the end (they patched the holes, replaced the window etc...so yay!) but the frustrating experiences and long timeline to complete the project aren’t exactly a ringing endorsement. Based on the other very positive reviews I think we were an exception rather than their normal project.

The salesman was very upfront with us as we selected different parts of our project. Weighing the investment versus our plans for the future and helping us understand where extra money would be well spent. He was able to run several scenarios and price out multiple options that included items we didn't even think of that were common in our neighborhood. Once signed (a very straightforward process), we communicated over email and text message (our preference) for when the project would start, including a flexible start time around my work schedule. The project manager was always available to meet and discuss our questions about the project and explain options behind dealing with issues they came across. The siding and windows part of our project was exceptional. In general, they installed everything perfectly, including some tricky spots on our house. They managed to fix some areas our house as they discovered damage for very little additional cost and even provided suggestions on some fixes we should make while they weren't around. Every evening, they cleaned up after themselves, picking up nails and debris around the areas they worked. Our biggest complaint about the project was the electrician and the gutter company. The electrician sent to our house was an inexperienced, less than friendly guy who randomly showed up one day. After a second trip, he completed the project and we were satisfied. The gutter company showed up without any notice, which left me unhappy. Luckily, work was flexible and I could be there to discuss how the previous gutters were insufficient and required reworking. Once I explained the situation, the gutter company adapted and installed everything flawlessly (after a few heavy rainstorms to test them).After 4 weeks of work, we were very pleased with the project and the professionalism of Solid State Construction.

Solid State Construction did a great job residing our nearly 60 year old house, I would highly recommend them. They were easy to work with from the first meeting with Andy through the final sign off with Chris. They replaced our siding, added new trim, new soffits, and a new door. Alex, John, and Zach were at our house every day the weather allowed and worked professionally, efficiently, and pleasantly. In addition to their hard work they cleaned up after themselves daily and really thoroughly at the completion of the job.

We are truly happy with the results!

Because I knew next to nothing about the process of residing a very old house, I appreciated the information, time and handholding given me by Solid State Construction. They did a thorough and professional job of examining my property, explained everything, and presented to me a detailed estimate and contract. There were no surprises.

Solid State did an awesome job with our siding and replacement windows and doors. We hired Solid State to reside our 99-year-old Dutch Colonial home with Hardie Siding. The house had two layers of siding: the original and 70s aluminum siding. We also replaced two new doors and two new windows as a part of the project. The Solid State crew was always punctual and hardworking and finished the project in a timely manner even during a very rainy spring. All questions and concerns were addressed in a professional manner. The house looks beautiful, and I would highly recommend Solidi State.

The salesman, Andy, was fantastic. When he saw we were hesitant about the high cost of the complete residing project, he drew up three plans, which we appreciated. The siding team did a terrific job in July heat, working 12 hours a day. We are very pleased with the results. We wish they would have been a little more mindful-they destroyed some plants, even those we tried to protect, and left many nails around the job site. The project manager left a lot to be desired. His boss was apologetic for the project manager's lack of professionalism.

Solid State Construction replaced the roofing on my Colonial with attached family room and 2 car garage Premium GAF materials were used and the workmanship was very good. Cleanup left no nails are material behind. They were the only contractor to inspect my attic for proper ventilation. They recommened Provo vents and installed them;

After living in our house for over 20 years, the original vinyl siding was really looking it's age. Our neighbor is a contactor ( Creative Custom Carpentry ) and a very good one, had Solid State Construction reside his house with Hardee siding. HIs house looks great. Now our house does too! We met with Jeff, the owner, who came up with multiple options that would fit our needs. We ended up choosing the Hardee siding and we are glad we did. Not only does it look good, you can tell that it is much more durable than vinyl. Jeff is very professional and you can tell he cares for his company by standing behind his work and making sure his clients are completely satisfied.

We would highly recommend Solid State Construction. They did a thorough review of our roof, explained our options to overcome a lack of any venting, and gave us an estimate that day. They took off the old roof, put in ridge, edge, and propa vents, and put on the new roof all in one day. They also did a good clean up afterwards. We love the roof color and the job they did.

Solid State Construction (SSC) is a trustworthy, honest, responsive and professional organization who completed multiple projects for us with a very high degree of craftsmanship. We had numerous projects with them this year, including: roof, skylights, siding, gutters, windows, and front door. The size of our scope made us very concerned about finding a contractor that was a) able to handle the entire scope, b) was able to fully commit resources to it, and c) was able to manage the project from beginning to end. The team at Solid State delivered on all three fronts. I want to specifically call out the fantastic relationship we established with Chris, our project manager. Chris always made himself available, was incredibly reliable, and very knowledgeable through his tenured experience in the industry. He helped coordinate across all crews and suppliers and made it a much less stressful process for us. As with any large project, there were things along the way that we wanted to be done differently; and although I wish they had done some of these things without me needing to ask, they were determined to correct all items and make things right. At the end of the day, that meant the most to me. The crews at Solid State are James Hardie specialists. Hardieboard needs to be installed in a very specific manner, and these guys know exactly what they are doing. We went with the Cedar Mill in Pearl Gray and absolutely love it. We complimented the siding with the Arctic White HardieTrim on our corner boards and around all 29!!!! Marvin Integrity windows that they installed. They also suggested to put ram's crown moulding on the top of our front windows and front door, which we love. It was a subtle, yet elegant feature that really sharpened up the curb appeal. The front door was made by Provia in a Mahogany finish. We are extremely happy with the end product and were very satisfied with the work done by Solid State Construction. I have trust in SSC that they will provide high quality work and provide a great customer experience. I believe this is set from the top, and it was clear to me that Jeff Brooks ensures that it is carried throughout his company.

I had many roofing companies come out and quote me prices along with describe what will be done about to correct the problems with snow build up and water entering my house.

They where lower in price then most but the one thing that made me choose Solid State Construction was they where the only ones to suggest a rubber roof in the back part of my house.

After the job was done we noticed water leaking on the ceiling in my daughter’s room. We called Solid State Construction and they were at the house with in the hour on a holiday weekend. They went into my attack and found that the water was not from the roof but my central air conditioning.

This year, with the snow we have had, none of it has stayed on the roof it slides right off.

Solid State was knowledgeable and candid. They delivered everything they promised. The two projects (roofing/skylights and windows) they did for us were both completed on schedule.

Most of all, they are a contractor you can trust. We will use them again.

These folks are fantastic. We had a big project--tearing off three layers of old roofing, replacing some boards, and reroofing a very large multifamily house. They did it a remarkably quick two days, protected our close neighbor's house from falling roof shingles, and left the site pristine. They followed up multiple times to be sure we had no issues with our finished roof. We'd be happy to call them in the future.

I couldn't be happier with Solid State's work. They did an absolutely beautiful job on our James Hardie siding, new doors, and custom-built front door surround. During the coldest weeks of winter the guys still showed up promptly every morning and left our home in neat condition at the end of each work day. The work crew, the Project Manager, Chris, and the Owner, Jeff listened to our questions and concerns before, throughout, and after the project had finished and made sure we were satisfied with how everything had turned out. They were courteous and professional, and showed the kind of attention to detail and quality of workmanship that every owner hopes for when they hire a contractor. When one of our new door locks fit a little too tight and a window needed some more caulking one of the guys came back within a week to make the adjustments. That's first-class service! We would definitely use Solid State again! Wish they did kitchens...

Solid State Construction just removed our old siding (which had lead paint), and replaced it with beautiful James Hardie fiber cement siding. We are thrilled! Between my husband and myself, I think one of us comments on how great the house looks every time we pull in the driveway! The project manager, Chris, was great at keeping in touch with my husband throughout the process. And Diaz, the foreman, was very knowledgable, professional, accommodating, and and willing to answer our questions. I would definitely recommend this company (as well as this product)!

I recently contracted with Solid State to do some repair work on a rotting deck and the whole project from start to finish was excellent. I reached out through their website and within a few hours had received a phone call and email scheduling an appointment to scope out the project. Jeff the owner was honest and very fair in his estimate of the project and all the work was completed on schedule. Joe managed the project and his team could not have done a better job ensuring the work was done correctly while communicating any unforeseen changes/ issues before taking action.

The end product looks amazing and everyone I worked with was professional, honest, and committed to the project. I plan to use Solid State for future projects and would recommend them if you need any exterior work done.

From the beginning of our experience with Solid State, there were aspects we really liked and some things that were frustrating, and that stayed true throughout our entire experience.

The Good:
-Jeff, the owner, was really responsive when we'd had a bad experience with the initial sales rep who came out, and he personally came out to work with us on a revised bid. He asked really thoughtful questions about what had gone wrong, and seemed genuine about wanting to hear our feedback so that he could make fixes. He also replied to my call when issues arose during install, and was again, very receptive/helpful.
-Their revised bids were in-line with if not slightly below other bids we received from competitors on both the roof and the siding (the original bids were much higher, but the revised ones were within a thousand or so of others we'd gotten). -William, the project manager, was very nice and professional when we did have problems during the install (more below on that).
-So far, the roofing and rake board look good, and did well about a week after install with a heavy snowstorm.

The Not So Good:
-As mentioned, we had a rough start with Solid State, with a sales rep who came back for a second visit without formal proposals as we'd discussed at our first meeting, and very high, non-detailed rates. A separate rep followed up after we declined to move forward, to schedule a follow-up with Jeff, the owner, and we were frustrated when we called to confirm the day before only to find out the rep hadn't realized Jeff would be on vacation. Eventually, we did get to meet with Jeff, and moved forward with the roofing as noted above.
-One of the things we were really explicit about with Jeff was that we wanted to ensure the yard/property were cleaned up after the job, as we have a dog and a toddler, and we use our lawn a lot. We were really disappointed that we had to ask multiple times for the yard to be cleaned up more after the job, and we are still finding nails and staples around the lawn weeks later. We also realized after the final walkthrough that there was a powdery residue left across our back lawn from the team cutting the PVC rake-board for install, which we are very disappointed by. One of the reasons we chose to go with Solid State is because of Jeff's assurances that the site would be spotless after, so this was probably our biggest disappointment.
-There was a lot of confusion/lack of communication around aspects of the install process. William had called me to tell me they were going to be delayed by a day due to rain, stating that they never start roofing jobs in the rain. That was fine, but the crew showed up two days later to begin work, when it was still raining. I asked them to hold off until I talked to William (who wasn't onsite yet), and after about an hour when I was able to reach William on the phone, he said they shouldn't have been there until after the rain. We also had issues with communication around the end of the job, as I'd been assured the project would be done in 2 days. I was traveling that second day, and my husband returned home to find that the job hadn't been completed. Again, we had to reach out to get the update that they would need to finish work on a third day. I also had to request scheduling of a final walkthrough with William to ensure everything was completed to our satisfaction. William was very professional and helpful whenever I reached out, but I do wish things were more proactively communicated throughout the process.
-Our gutters were removed/reinstalled as part of the process, and the gutter guards were haphazardly reinstalled. William quickly had the crew fix this after the final walkthrough.

All in all, our roof looks good, and we are hoping that it continues to perform well for years to come.

Solid State removed our old siding, installed James Hardie siding and also replaced the stairs to our back porch. All of the work was done promptly, on schedule and with a focus on our satisfaction with the results. Chris, our Project Manager, did a great job of checking in frequently and promptly attending to any questions or concerns about the work. Been working with Solid State for several weeks now on our home project in West Newton replacing our existing 6" thick exterior of cedar shakes and aluminum siding and most of our old and leaky windows. Chris the project manager is terrific to work with... Extremely knowledgeable, very responsive and great listener. Process is enjoyably collaborative. Crew is good natured on on point. A+++++ construction company! From the consultation and financing to the last deck screw, they were first rate with everything. Extremely professional. We had three decks put in: a mini side entry deck and a separate larger rear deck, as well as a pool deck. Could not have asked for better craftsmanship. The decks are better than we imagined and we cannot wait for next spring and summer to enjoy barbecues and swimming in our pool once again. This time knowing the decks we have are safe and soundly constructed. Thanks again Solid State! You did an incredible job!
