Preston and his crew did a great job. They work really hard to make sure you are satisfied with the end results. We would definitely use them for future projects.
This job was to remove all the old screens, paint, pressure wash the porch (inside and out), put in new rails, a doggie door, do some electrical work, etc. Let me start by saying all but the painter was super nice. Even he was nice until I realized he was one of the worst painters I’ve ever seen (see pictures). I told him to stop before more damage to the windows was done. He returned to the job but refused to speak to me. Oscola, Preston’s dad was managing the job and he was accommodating and responsive. The two men who installed the new screen system were great to have around. The crew was not the problem. The problem was the finished product. It wasn’t what we expected. Most of the corners on the screens had gaps and so they weren’t nicely mitered corners like one would expect. Screens are made to keep bugs out so having gaps where spiders and bugs could crawl in was not what you’d want on a screened in porch. Our old system was better in that regard. This looked like we tried to do it ourselves instead of having a contractor. We discussed this with Preston who did make an effort to correct the issue. He called the company and they said this was the way this particular system worked. They redid everything we asked but it didn’t improve anything. We should have been advised that this system would look like this because we certainly have never seen anything like this before. We would have used a different company. Other problems: the painter got paint on the vinyl part of the windows, was sloppy in painting, didn’t pull down the top windows in order to have access to painting the frame of the top windows. I ended up spending hours fixing the mess. They forgot to put the porta john in the yard (it was in the contract) and they forgot to pressure wash. I had to remind Preston to do that. He also doubled his estimate of the electrical add-on onto our invoice. We adjusted that ourselves and he gave us a discount! Not a discount, that was the estimate he originally gave us. What I have since come to hear since this experience is that sometimes they are excellent but often they are mediocre. I would not take that chance. I also would add that Preston is not responsive to emails/texts/phone calls. It would be weeks between emails prior to starting the job.
Great experience working with Preston and Oscola. Amazing service and always willing to help and guide through the renovation process of our primary suite. They brought great vendors and subcontractors to the project and made it all easy. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
