Solar Holler

In October, it will have been four years since my solar installation. I have asked continuously when they will come and fix their shotty construction. I am afraid the company will go bankrupt because of their top heavy business model before I get my Solar repaired! We are in the process of selling our house and this is a major issue when people are looking at buying our home! I have called and emailed several times and have been told, we will get to it when we are in your area. If you cannot get to FAIRMONT in four years... What are you doing???

We have been Solar Holler customers for almost two years and I can truly say, they are fantastic. We were getting some electrical work done a few months back, and on the phone when I told the electrician we had solar, he said "that usually means problems" but when he got here, he said that "it was by far the most professional installation he had ever seen", from the panels to the connections outdoors and the panel in the basement and he asked for Solar Hollers number. I guess that says it all.

Everyone that I had dealings with at Solar Holler was personable, knowledgeable, and willing to share any information they might have with questions asked.

I have been a Solar Holler customer for the past six years and my experience has been nothing short of five stars. From introduction to installation, there has been a high level of professionalism in dealing with their team. Its awesome to see a local company that has the best interest of the community at heart.

My husband and I met with a sales representative via google meet. The meeting went well, but and instead of answering all of our questions all she kept doing was trying to close us. I have never felt less like buying something in my life. She acted like a used car salesman. Once we told her we were getting other quotes Leah could not get us off the meeting quick enough. I would not recommend this company for this reason.

We recently had 84 solar panels installed by Solar Holler. This is an addition to 70 panels we had installed several years ago by Solar Holler. Solar Holler has an excellent staff and outstanding management and their work is very professional. We love our solar panels and are grateful that we were able to have them installed by such competent and professional workers.

We had a small system installed in Barboursville about 2 years ago. Everything went well, and our electric production has exceeded expectations.

The promotion advertised to me in the sales process was that there were no payments for 6 months. That was true! What they didn’t tell me was that interest accrues for that time, leading to the first ten payments of the loan going entirely to interest.

I’ve been told by a rep that the sales pitch now mentions this. But I’ve reviewed my sales proposal and it wasn’t mentioned. This is a dishonest practice (intentionally or not) that really sours me on an otherwise satisfactory experience.

Why would it be a perk to accrue 6 months of interest?

Enjoyed work with them they’re very professional and laid back always willing to answer and questions or concerns you may have. I’m very happy with my setup thank you solar holler great work.

I went in with high expectations, but after my experiences I would not recommend this company. I had a combined loan with solar and a separate roof installation through their recommended lender, Credit Human. Credit Human released the funds to Solar Holler, which should have then paid the bill for the new roof. Weeks and weeks went by without the payment being made, and I contacted them to find out why it was not paid. They needed tax and business numbers that the roofing vendor had not provided according to them. OK. So why wasn't I given a heads up in all that time? Soon thereafter, the roofer put a lien on my house, which I am still trying to get removed months later. They finally paid the bill (no apology, of course). The solar installation? Not bad except for a failed microinverter that took weeks to get repaired. The laborers seem okay, but the company itself is a mess. They offer cash payments for recommendations to other potential customers, but I couldn't in good conscience recommend them as a reliable company to deal with.

Everyone with Solar Holler has been extremely professional and courteous. Everything was explained to us and we were kept informed through all the steps related to our solar PV system—and it's working perfectly.

The solar pieces and batteries are excellent. But it’s the incredible that the people who work on Solar Holler who help me tremendously to receive federal and state money. Much appreciated to have those people all the way to the CEO at the top!

From beginning to end my experience with Solar Hollar has been nothing less than what one could reasonably expect. Beginning with my initial contact with David Daugherty, the panel and final installation crews, I have been very satisfied with the process, communication, installation and ultimately the system performance. I don't have enough good things to say about Solar Holler, The entire staff was fantastic. From the initial call, then the first inspection of the property, the DC installers and the AC installers were professional and very personable. Everyone answered all questions quickly and the communication was fantastic. The Process to get financed and the dealing with the power company were all handled quickly and super simple. We're delighted to have our installation of 35 panels and a two Powerwall back-up system up and running. The equipment seems to be top notch, and the field personnel who did the work were competent, professional, courteous, (and patient with all our questions!) We did however have issues with timely and complete communications with the office-located staff which is why we aren't giving a higher ranking. Because of our rural, hilly location and the fact the panels were placed on a barn not immediately adjacent to our house, there were challenges determining the location of the panels which delayed the project. In addition, the engineering of the system--being done solely from aerial photos and GIS in a remote office--was inadequate, resulting in complications with the physical installation. Despite our frustrations, we're happy to have gone with Solar Holler as they were lower cost, with technology which better suited our situation than other installers we received quotes from, and we admire the passion of their people to make their company's mission statement real.

Solar Holler did a great job with high quality installation of a large residential solar project for me. The skill level on conduit and other areas of the physical installation was super. One small area that Solar Hollar could improve on it the communication aspect of the project. There were several times where I had to push for updates on delays and it took a few phone calls and messages before I would hear back. Otherwise, would recommend on the quality of installation alone.

Wow can’t believe we finally have it. So far so good. The team at Solar Holler was great to work with. Big thanks to the Installer’s electrician’s and all of the Project Managers. A few bumps in the road but we made it to the finish. Love mining ⛏️ the Sun . Big thanks.

I would recommend Solar Hollar. The project managers took ownership of and managed all challenges in a responsible and considerate way. Communication was always good. My system is running like a champ now :)

I believe Solar Holler has great people. They accommodated my rather unusual schedule and went out of their way to do so. The system has been operational for about 3 weeks and all seems fine at this point. The one aspect that unsettled me was that there was not an individual overseeing the project that I could identify. It seemed to be a succession of different managers. That would be my one criticism. I would definitely use them again. I am glad we have a good company in WV to provide solar installations.

Great company to work with. They honored timelines, met goals, and their entire team was a pleasure to work with. There were some snags at the finish line that held us up 6 weeks, but the overall process was satisfactory. Now we wait to see if the actual savings meet the projections.

This was a great decision. Loved everyone who came to work on the project, everyone was great, very responsive. I love watching my energy production on the app! If you are thinking about it, give them a call, you won't regret it.

Overall a great experience. Everyone involved from sales, to project management to panel installation & hook-up were efficient and knowledgeable. Both crews of tech who actually did the install and electrical work were fantastic. ... I only have 2 issues: 1st, the wait between installing the panels and the Solar Hollar hook-up was very slow. Panels installed July 5th & 6th with estimated 4-6 weeks for electrical hookup. That ended-up being 9 weeks and was disappointing. ALSO, 2nd, we were told that if we signed on or before June 30th, there was a "guarantee" to be Solar live by Sept 1st. That date was missed as we didn't do live until Sept 15th. Since no one has addressed that although I did ask about in an email to Leah on August 14th, I do not know what, if anything, the "guarantee" actually means.... I have had several neighbors stop and ask and I have highly recommended Solar Hollar as an great investment and overall experience.

Overall this installation has been a positive experience, however, there have been some frustrating issues. The time from beginning the install to actually getting up and running has been excessive (IMHO)..starting in June and finally finishing in late August. There have been a few instances of one person telling me "facts" that were not "facts" according to the next person. The inspection process before the digital install was not very accurate...I was told the next phase would require access to my attic..not true..I was told the battery and some control components could go in my garage which will be converted to living space..not true.... The conduit from panels to control units was galvanized rather than more color appropriate for house color...and conduit was run down middle of roof rather than along a wall where it would be more asthetic and likely easier to deal with when roof needs to be replaced.... There were many emails from the "project directors" which were completely out of stnch with the actual work. For example, i had recieved my inspection and the power companyvinstalledcthe bidirectional meter, then a week or so later i got an email telling mecthat soon i would have those functions pergormed...I am still waiting for the breaker box cover panel to be re-installed due to a fitment issue...
The folks who came to my house were all great..very personable and likeable..the dry wall guy was very talented and detailed about his job. I would recommend Solar Holler to friends."

Every Solar Holler employee that contacted our home was exceptional. We find the EnPhase usage monitoring app provides us with electricity production/consumption in an easy-to-understand format. Since our installation we have been encouraging everyone in our neighborhood to explore Solar Holler as a way of combating raising electricity rates while also doing their part to combat global warming.

So far, so good! Our solar array just went online last week and we're already banking energy credits. The process from start to finish is long and there are a lot of steps, but the folks at Solar Holler have been fantastic about making it as smooth as possible. Communication has been great, their customer service is top-notch, and every employee I've spoken to from office staff to installers has been super knowledgeable and more than willing to answer questions. Solar Holler kept us informed during the entire process .(Quote, Financing, Installation). Being snowbirds, they postponed the installation date at our request and as soon as we were back they started the installation process right away. We definitely recommend them. They were always on schedule and did what they said they would do. They were concerned to keep any ground disturbance to a minimum. We had our array installed as a ground mount. They followed up after installation and connection to the power grid to answer any questions we might have. It has been a pleasure dealing with all aspects of our installation with Solar Holler.

The whole experience was easy and straight forward. The people were pleasant, helpful and kind. My wife started the process and when she passed away suddenly solar holler was compassionate and went above and beyond to help me finish the project my wife was so fond of. Let’s start off with this company came in clutch at the very end…
I started talking to them while deployed and they worked great with getting paperwork started while over there. After I got home, they sent the engineers and answered all my “more than normal complicated questions.” I know the answers to common questions because of my experience. I spend hobby time studying solar. Simple questions like “how does solar work when the lights go out” and I will recommend you have a battery backup. Powerwall and Enphase backups are both great and offered by this company. I worked with Matt at first (no longer there) and this experience was second to none. He was knowledgeable and willing to find info he didn’t know. When he left, I ended up talking with 3-4 people regularly to get anything done. It made anything getting done complicated. I started talking to Matt Sept 23, 2022. It was completed 3/23/2023, six months later. It was a very mild winter. There was no blame on weather.
The two people I talked to most Alison and James were very pleasant to talk to and both worked to get this completed. They both got pretty serious about half way through February and they did push to get it done. The electric company and certification department took about two weeks together to complete for certification and the bidirectional meter. Then I could watch it and Solar Holler turned these panels on as soon as they got word these two items were completed. Here’s where they came in clutch: the 23rd of March is when everything was turned on and on the 24th we had a huge wind storm. It knocked out power for everyone in the area for THREE DAYS! My powerwall kept most of my house going, so the fridge and deep freezer kept cold. The internet also stayed on. They asked what items we wanted to put on battery backup. These were all items. It worked perfectly.
Please let me clarify this too: I own two electric cars. The level two charger did not work and was not set up to when only on solar. They did make sure both cars would charge on slow charge when the grid was off. SOLAR HOLLER KEPT ME RUNNING ALL THREE DAYS WITH NO POWER!
Overall, the only negative experience was the timing and how long it took to complete the project. Most people have theirs on in under 2 1/2 months. The people were pleasant and knowledgeable. The cost was as expected. Going much cheaper? You get what you pay for. I tried another company here in WV first and my confidence was lost quickly. Solar Holler proved to be honest and will complete as they promise (minus the timing) with everything else. Thank you Solar Holler and I DO RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

The folks at Solar Holler were amazingly patient answering questions and responding to our requests for different solar panel configurations. We received a detailed review of our electrical usage and our solar production capacity that gave us all the information we needed to make decisions.

We are now roughly a year and a half post-installation, and our solar experience has been great. The system has performed better than we anticipated. We are not being billed for ANY grid power (there is a ~$15 charge by AEP to stay connected). We can track energy usage through a website or app, which is pretty cool. Our solar loan payment is lower than our old electric bill (and the solar payment will end, the electric bill was forever!)

Beyond the system itself, our experience with Solar Holler has been fantastic. Jenn has been our contact (and she is amazing); she made sure we knew what to expect as we went forward. Installation went smoothly. Solar Holler found us the best financing. Everything worked right from the start. It takes a month or so for AEP to recognize the setup, then clear sailing as far as electric bills, as well.

If we decide to expand on our solar installation in the future, whether for additional capacity or to add storage, we will not hesitate to contact Solar Holler.

Getting solar was an extremely easy process with them. Our salesperson, Matt, gave us all the time we needed to come to a decision while answering all of our questions perfectly. When we finally said yes, evaluations happened after about a month, then panel installation about three weeks after the home evaluations and took a single day. The electrical team finished connecting everything about 5 weeks later and took two days since they had to upgrade our home electrical system to be safe and ready for solar. The installation and electrical teams were professional and friendly. I felt good about having them in my home to work. I cannot recommend Solar Holler enough. They should be the only company worth discussing solar for your home.

Solar Holler has been a first class business to deal with. Every one who came to my home, first to inspect our roof and wiring, second to install the panels, and finally to connect to our electric service, was great to work with.

Right from the start working with Matt to determine our solar needs was a pleasure. Matt was so helpful and easy to work with. No pressure just listened and provided exactly what we were looking for. Even when I changed my mind halfway through the process and modified our system he didn't bat an eye and was so easy to work with. Once Matt handed us off it was as easy as scheduling a day for the panel installers to work and after that we scheduled the electricians a couple of days to do our new 200 amp service and the rest of the batteries, disconnects, transfer switch, and controllers. This is a professional operation, and good at what they do.

After a somewhat long installation process I am very happy with the solar performance. Solar Holler did an expert design for my residential 24 kw system including 80 solar panels and 3 Tesla Powerwall batteries.

The system has been in production for almost a year and it has exceeded my expectations for both reliability and performance.

I am still in the planning phase of my home’s solar system but I have been extremely pleased with every interaction with Solar Holler thus far. Jennifer Pauley has been absolutely fantastic at explaining every detail of the process. I spoke to a couple different solar providers but Jenn’s knowledge, communication and professionalism made Solar Holler the no doubt company to proceed with. Can’t wait to get our system up and running.

Solar Holler was great to work with from the initial consultation to final the installation. All questions were answered promptly from the beginning and even still today, I still remain in contact and receive immediate responses for any questions I have. I am thankful for the savings I'm seeing in my energy consumption and would highly recommend this company to others without hesitation.

Hands down a reliable, trustworthy and knowledgeable on all things solar. After A LOT of market and vendor research I decided go with Solar Holler and very glad I did. I keep hearing horror stories from other that decided to use "other" installers; just not the case with these guys. Everyone and I mean everyone has been super to work with, from the designers to installers it has been a great experience. What I think the most is the continuing support; I can reach out anytime and they are there to answers my questions! Don't make the mistake and go with a company that cannot / does not provide the after the sale support. These guys are not going to "take your money and run"!

I'll post some drone photo's later.. One recommendation I'd make is go ahead and replace the roof if you are anywhere close to needing a new one; makes no sense not to IMO.

We are so thankful we went solar! Everything the solar holler team promised has proven to be true and they were very helpful every step of the way. We have a $0 electric bill now and the loan for the panels is less than 1/2 of what our electric bill used to be. No regrets whatsoever! Recently I received my electric bill from Appalachian Power and it is $13.95. Billing was from July 8 to August 5. I love my new solar panels and they are sure paying for themselves! Thank you Solar Holler.

Overall, my experience with Solar Holler has been excellent! From the initial inquiry to final installation and operation, I could not be more satisfied. What really stood out was the detailed evaluation of my property and models of expected production. They never tried to oversell the decision and made me aware that my location was not optimal. However, my system has exceeded expectations and is saving me more money than originally anticipated. It is nice to think we are doing a small part to be more energy efficient using a renewable resource. I would highly recommend Solar Holler because they truly want satisfied customers and provide an honest sales approach.

Other than still waiting on one of my panels to be updated after the techs changed the microinverter on it a few weeks ago, I have had an awesome experience....very happy I went solar, and have enjoyed dealing with your team so far.

As for the system it works fine.As for their reps.You better have all your questions in line.If you don't file taxes you will not get energy Tax credit and if you don't get the battery back up you won't have power if main line goes down. These are things they don't tell you

We are more than pleased with our Solar install. company was excellent to work with, explained things well along the way. we are excited to participate on the next chapter - mining the sun and making our contribution to the planet!

I really like my panels, but honestly Solar Holler wasn't great to work with. They installed the panels and didn't connect them to my internet, and then when asked if they would come out and fix it, they basically just told me to figure it out. Additionally, after having the panels installed, we found out our roof had a lot of issues and leaks that were apparently insanely obvious to three individual professionals that came to work on other projects for us. We contacted Solar Holler to see if they would take the panels off and put them back on since it hadn't even been a year since they installed them and they refused. They claimed they would never install panels on a roof that needed fixed or replaced but were insanely dodge-y when I asked how they justified installing our panels, then, considering the whole roof needs replaced. They are now charging us $2,200 to un and re-install the panels. I cannot stress this enough - go with someone else; these people are not here with your best interest in mind. Solar was definitely a great move for us, but I wish more and more every day that we had gone with someone else.

Despite several hiccups and multiple changes in plan, everything has turned out great! I’m now feeding solar back into the grid, as well as no longer dreading power outages with my back up battery! Very happy customer!

Solar Holler did excellent work, and were always quick to respond to my concerns. My only issues were with AEP taking so long to get my essential net meter installed. Until that is done, the solar panels are only allowed to put out 1/5 to 1/7 their total power. It took 2 months to the day after the completion of the install for AEP to get the net meter installed, and at least a month delay was caused by AEP using a wrong account number for my net meter application. As a result, I probably lost over $500 of solar production for the two months of delay. I strongly recommend Solar Holler, but AEP is far from efficient.

We have been really happy with Solar Holler. Everyone we worked with was enthusiastic and competent, and they didn't give us a hard sell. The only difficulty we had was waiting for the project to be completed, but I think that was like a ten year old waiting on Christmas. It is up and running and worth the wait.

Fellow truck drivers. Do not follow gps it will bring you to the front of the building and its not for trucks. Only way to turn around if you come tru vernon st is tru rail road tracks which are dangerous to get stuck be careful. The only way in and out is tru camden rd. I highlighted the truck route follow it. Thank me later :)

We had 66 panels installed late last fall (2020), and due to the weather thru February, we were seeing a limited offset to our grid consumption. That all turned around in March...from that point 'til now July 2), the only bill we've paid AEP is the service charge for their meter ($12.00). We are producing roughly 2-3 times more power from the solar array than we're using, every month.

Solar Holler has been a pleasure to work with, from the very beginning when determining if this investment made sense for us, through the installation, and now when we still have the occasional question, they are quick to respond.

As of July 1, 2021, AEP was granted a 6% rate increase. You know who doesn't care? This guy...and everyone else who's made the switch to Solar Holler. Give 'em a call, as you have nothing to lose, and perhaps a great deal to gain.

I've been extremely happy with Solar Holler! Everyone in the company that I've had contact with has been very helpful. They not only mounted my panels, but they discovered several electrical problems I had during the original inspection and took care of them. My all electric house has been producing more electricity than I've been using from April on. It's so nice to be getting $0 bills from the electric company.

We are so happy and excited to have our solar panels up and working. The initial process was easy and benefits of solar energy were very clear. The initial team was responsive, communicative, and efficient. Everything was explained well.

We did run into a few issues with communication later in the process-both between solar holler and the power company and solar holler and us. For example, once our panels were on and we were making payments on our loan, we were seeing no significant decrease in our power bill or energy usage. When I reached out about this, it took several weeks and attempts to get a response and then we were told that paperwork hadn’t yet been sent through to the power company to add their meter and we weren’t yet up and running. However, this was never communicated to us. It was a bit frustrating to be making payments on both sources of power when we weren’t yet getting the benefit of the panels and thought we were with little communication and response-but I believe that was an isolated situation. I do believe overall, solar holler is wonderful and we would do it again without hesitation. I would recommend solar holler.

When the Solar Holler bid came in for half the old one, along with tax incentives, other benefits, a smart system for monitoring, and better technology and looks, we could not say no. And we were not mislead. Not only did the install go painlessly, but now that we are up and running the system works like a charm, delivering exactly what was promised. It will pay for itself in just a few years at this rate, but money aside, we just feel like we are making our small contribution to fighting climate change and the energy crisis. Plus, the web interface is way cool!

I couldn't be happier with Solar Holler and my solar panels. My power bill is $12.75 a month and it only took 1 sunny month to get there after my installation was completed.
