Do not buy Infinity bay windows that are made by Marvin! We purchased several casement (crank out) windows and 2 bay windows to replace the same style windows in our home. We are HIGHLY disappointed in the seat boards of the bay windows. For many years, we have used our large bay window sills for knickknacks, children doing projects or bird watching, growing houseplants and garden seedlings, and as a place for cats to perch. Troy Soberg knew this as we had to move things out of the window sills when he came to measure them. Within ONE WEEK of installing these rather expensive Infinity Marvin Windows, there were dents, gouges, and scratches in the seat boards!! When we contacted Troy Soberg to report the problem, he sent us a YouTube link of someone trying DIY repair--with a clothes' iron--and said that "might" work for removing the gouges! So our options are to: 1) ban the household from getting anywhere near the bay windows or 2) attempt to iron out all the marks and hope that doesn't worsen the situation, or 3) continue to use the seat boards and deal with even more damage. Another company we looked at had suggested using two standard windows (removing the head and seat boards), in place of the bay windows and for a much lesser cost, but we wanted to keep the bay areas because we use the extra space they provide. Had we known that we could no longer USE the shelf-like areas of the new bay windows, we would NOT have chosen Infinity windows! We will say, during purchase and install, Troy Soberg was very friendly and quick to have them installed. He subcontracted the installation to Folliard Construction. Folliard had a large team do all the windows on the same day. Their installation was excellent and they, along with Troy, ensured the house and yard were kept tidy after construction. In conclusion, if you plan to use your windows as shelves or seats (or you have children or pets), find another product. If your windows are out of reach, then you can use the Infinity products. They are not wood, but rather a composite material. We rate the bay windows at LESS than 0 stars, the casement windows at 4 stars, Folliard's installation at 5 stars, and Troy Soberg's service at 4 stars for an overall average of 3 stars. Attached are photos of the largest gouges, which happened a few days after installation, and there are other scratches and nicks as well.
