When we purchased our home in September 2020 the original homeowners had purchased the bow window from simplicity, siding and windows and we were in charge of the install date. Initially it was noted on the receipt that the window was ordered on July 8 and would be expected delivery of September 7. We purchased and took ownership of the home on September 2.
I started reaching out and contacting the contractor on September 7 and every two weeks to find out if the window had come in however, the window ended up, not arriving until the end of October. On October 27, 2022 the owner and his crew arrived to install of the window.
Prior to the installation I had discussions with the owner that we wanted the roofline to remain the same and was confirmed by both the owner and his crew that it would be, in fact, the same roofline above the window.
During the installation at some point I did leave to pick up my daughter and came home to find they had demolished the roof that was above the window and just encapsulated the area and space where the roof used to be. After many discussions with them they said this is how they do roofs now however, this was not what was discussed, and I wanted to get the roof line fixed back to what was discussed and intended to have a roof above it. We have been waiting since October 27 of 2022 to have this roof fixed back to the way that it was supposed to be installed.
On March 3, 2023 we discovered that our window was leaking and damaged the windowsill inside the home. I had contacted the owner who came out to investigate and told us that we should try soaking the window so we can try and see where the water is coming in. He told us also that he wanted to wait for warmer weather to be able to investigate this more.
Well, I waited. I reached out to all side window company and they had an associate Harold come out to investigate the window and they determine that it is not a window defect, but in fact, is an install defect issue.
Per the owners request on April 23 we soaked our window to find out where the water was coming in and determined that it was in fact from the area that he encapsulated as opposed to making a roof. They did not put on enough silicone caulking. The caulking was poorly put on and is now all over our existing soffits on our home.
On May 18, 2023 I had reached out to the owner and let him know that I needed this roof fixed and the damage replaced. He sent a team out to do a roof and when they were about to install we determined that they were going to do a roof that was not agreed-upon and not what we had discussed at all. So Work had ended again. They put more caulking in the area where they felt the water was coming in to try to remedy it.
We have now been going back-and-forth with the owner about coming out to get our window fixed and our roof line corrected since May 18 of 2023. Every time he makes an appointment and says he is coming, He either does not show up, states that he did not send a text message that he thought he did stating he needed to reschedule and/or makes an appointment date and then goes out of state and says he is not available for that appointment .
At this point our window has areas where it could still potentially be leaking, as well as mold, growing from the water that did come in the areas that were encapsulated. There is black growths on our windowsill that I am not sure if it was mold, growth or anything like that.
At this time we are simply wanting our roofline fixed and window corrected. The owner is no longer returning our phone calls or messages, and is making no effort to rectify the issue
