Jose and team did an excellent job showing up at 11pm for emergency water leak and by the time we woke up they had the house extremely clean, all debris gone and fans and de-humidifiers going. Great attention to detail, very educated staff, and affordable. We didn’t want to file an insurance claim, so they helped us get a low rate financing option to pay out of pocket. It was very fast, and very helpful, and saved us a fortune. Will use Service Master for any restoration or construction in the future.

We had a water leak in a room in our basement from the bathroom upstairs. Our insurance had Service Master come out and start the drying out phase. They had very nice people working for them, Micah and Lucas were the ones we worked with the most and they were very competent and nice. We were very happy with the job Service Master provided for us.

I had some water related damage in my house. Clemente from Service Master came over and got right to work. He explained how far the damage had gone and what had to be done. He quickly called more of his crew over to remove the damaged sections of drywall and insulation. afterwards they set up dehumidifiers to remove all the water from studs and wood floor. Clemente also helped me with insurance claim. In under a month everything was back to normal. I highly recommend them to anyone that has to go through unforseen events or for remodeling.

In short: never hire this company. And if you do, do not pay them in advance, get everything in writing, and double check every piece of work they claim to do.

We hired them in the summer of 2020 following a house fire to remediate fire damage, remove and catalog non-salvageable items for the insurance company, store and clean salvageable items, and repair the fire damage. Once they had our ~$70,000 initial payment (signed over before work even began), there was one issue after another. Overall, they are dishonest, disorganized, expensive, and slow. It got so bad we had to fire them and bring in other contractors to finish the job. I could write a book on all the issues, but here are a few of the examples:

1.) The contractors were caught rummaging through a locked storage trailer on the property. We had to file a police report.
2.) They routinely cut corners to increase their profits. For example, they told us they replaced all windows and interior doors in the house. In actuality, they replaced 4 of 7 windows and 5 of 6 doors. They would have left it that way and charged us for completing all tasks if we didn’t catch their error and insist on them fixing it. Similarly, they tried to charge us for 15-18 inches of insulation in the attic (standard), but actually only placed 8 inches of insulation.
3.) They are slow. Overall a project that should have taken 3-4 months took almost a year and, even then, we had to fire them and hire someone else to finish the work. For example, it took 4+ weeks to install ~1,000 square feet of flooring.
4.) Their project management team is generally horrible. During the life of the project we were assigned 3 different project managers. Despite the group effort, they did not apply for the required county permits, they were fined by L&I for not having a contractor’s license, and they missed more than 10 estimated completion dates.
5.) Their disorganization consistently causes delays and frustration. For example, we provided the major design choices (paint colors, cabinet selections, carpet, kitchen flooring, etc.) in September and October of 2020. Months later when they finally started ordering materials, we found out that they had lost all design choices. We had to re-provide every choice because of their terrible record keeping and some of our selections were no longer in stock/available because they waited too long to order them.
6.) The non-salvageable items list was clearly incomplete. When we complained about their initial report they found 100+ additional images of non-salvageable items. After reviewing the additional images, it is obvious that the report is still incomplete. They have made no further effort to resolve this error and it has made our personal property claim with the insurance company difficult to prove. Additionally, when the items were taken out of storage with them they discovered that they had “accidentally” stored hundreds of items that were actually non-salvageable, including large furniture and mattresses. In true RBD fashion, they made no apologies for the error and profited from the unethical billing (they billed to pack/haul/store non-salvageable items for almost a year, billed to catalogue those items after a year of storage, and billed to dispose of those same items after they were stored and catalogued).
7.) They sent us multiple incorrect invoices. For example, they sent us one invoice (three times) for a $12,990.28 bill that had been paid 4+ months earlier. Their explanation for repeating the error was an “internal accounting issue”. They also sent us an invoice for $46,360.79 more than the negotiated repair costs. They offered no explanation for the additional charges, refused to provide an itemized list, and ultimately retracted that invoice in favor of one that lined up with what the insurance company was willing to pay to close out the claim.

I would not call this company Service Master..its more like Service Disaster. I regret listening to the advice of the insurance adjuster. I should of went with my first choice. At first we bought the song and dance of the Project Manager...we were lead to believe we were going to be taken care of and assured that we were a priority. Things began to unravel, and that was not the case. A REAL lack of comunication. A hole lot of misplaced blame for those comunication issues put on laborers. Damaged wires and other issues with so called dry out. Things left undone that we had to point out, still unsure if they ever were. Later finding out 3 other people we have spoken to since had the same problems as we did, and only a month's time. It's sad when your going threw disaster and feel even worse after having went with these people. I'm unsure how they were able to charge what they did to the claim. from what I understand the project Manager is skilled at racking up the charges like a bulldog going after a steak.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
