SCRUGGS CONSTRUCTION

This contractor did a terrible job redoing the subfloor and floor in our house. He took three times longer than initially estimated to complete the job and was inconsistent on when they would show up to work with poor communication. He tried to cut corners everywhere he could including not replacing sections of the floor despite us paying for all of the the material (he also took that extra material). His crew destroyed the floor in one entire room of our house because they did not stop as soon as they realized they were causing damage. They left moisture sensitive materials exposed in the rain - we had to move it inside ourselves once we found out. Our subfloors have multiple areas with creaky spots, bows and waves across all areas of the house. These defects have now caused the flooring to crack in multiple places as well. They attempted to charge more than the estimate even though they did not complete the work agreed upon and would not fix the problems they created. As most of what they did has to be corrected, the value for cost was terrible.

I do not post reviews often so the fact that I am means a great deal. I want to warn anyone thinking about using this company as my experience with the owner has been unpleasant and unprofessional and costly. He promises a lot but doesn't come through. He did part of the work but not everything and definitely not to what was discussed and agreed upon. He also doesn't stay on schedule. He has your full attention when he's promising the world but once you've committed and paid, it's a different story. This is a definite buyer beware.

I have a 20 sided aging beach house with the original shingled roof and needless to say I was NOT looking forward to getting my roof replaced. Scruggs Construction made it easy and they nailed it. So far it's been through 2 major hurricanes and multiple tropical storms without any issues. (Metal roof) You just can't beat a friendly, local and quality contractor right here in Franklin County. I'll definitely be calling him again.
