25 years ago I was looking for a contractor to replace my roof. I am very particular when it comes to contractors. A co-worker recommended Steve and mentioned he was doing a roof in his neighborhood. I went and observed Steve's workmanship without him knowing. I liked what I observed and called him for a quote. I hired him and was very pleased. Fast forward to today. I noticed shingles were coming off the roof and was concerned. I called Steve and explained what was going on. Steve remembered the roof. Steve communicated and arrived when he said he would. He was prepared with tools and materials, showed me the damage, explained how the birds pecked away at the shingles, replaced the shingles, and cleaned up. He takes pride in what he does. He was dependable, reasonable, and professional, just like he was 25 years ago. When I'm ready for a new roof, it will be no one else but Steve Sanderson.

Absolutely the best!!! Do not use anyone else to replace your roof or gutters. Nobody can or will do better. They also replaced my porch railing with vinyl. My house looks like new.
Mr Sanderson took some “hard to reach” shutters down so I could paint and then he put them back up. Not to mention that he cut a limb down that was resting on my roof.He did not charge me for those services. I priced 5 roofers, he offered best deal

S.M. Sanderson did a great job installing a mechanically fastened standing seam roof on our historic home in McKenney. They paid close attention to detail in hand-crimping the ridge line to provide an authentic, historic appearance. They honored my request to work from left to right in order to match the appearance of the metal roof from the 19th century, even though modern techniques would typically work from the center out to the edges. Our home is a National Historic Landmark, and we are getting historic preservation tax credits for the project, and Sanderson was great in providing us the proper paperwork for that effort and in executing the work with proper historic details to satisfy the Va Department of Historic Resources. Above all of that they were friendly, fair, and great to work with! I would highly recommend S.M. Sanderson for your next roofing project!

I contacted them after they had finished another roofing job in my neighborhood. It looked great by the way! I had left a message with his answering service in the evening. I received a call from him the next day. Very Quick! I also explained to him about some issues that I knew about my roof that he would not see until he was on it. The house is 3 stories tall. He gave me a very fair estimate to strip my roof, lay all new tar paper and shingles as well for the repairs it needed. He also installed a new gutter and cap on the gutter. The new roof looks great as well as the gutter. Mr. Sanderson and his crew were very professional and the job was completed in one day! After completing the job, they cleaned up the job site. I am very satisfied with the job they did. I would not hesitate to recommend them and use them again!

S.M. Sanderson roofing replaced our roof in 2010, so when a tree branch punched a hole through our roof last week we contacted them via chat. We got response right away and Mr. Sanderson came out did a temporary repair to keep the rain out, and then did the permanent repair the next day. This company was great to work with. Steve was very responsive and went above and beyond. They completely replaced our roof and gutters all in 1 day. We have now had snow and rain to test it out. I had Mr. Sanderson install my new roof a number of years ago(well done, and ahead of schedule).I recently had a gutter issue that asked him about. He inspected the gutter, and let me know that it looked fine. He could very easily have sold, and charged me for, a new gutter. As a woman that has had to deal with some unscrupulous contactors, I very much appreciate his honesty and integrity, as much as the quality of his work. Would definitely go with his company again.

We built our home in the late 1980's and when it needed replacing after 30+ years I called Sanderson and he had the best price. He was also the one that put the original roof on when it was built. I saw that during the replacement not one piece of plywood needed replacing. that was a testament to the quality of work this company does. When a family member needed a new roof I called them and got the best price quote using quality materials and fasteners so there would not be any unsightly lines on the roof as you see on a lot of homes. Overall I wish there were more stars to give. The work completed sooner than quoted, grounds were left spotless and final invoice was cheaper than expected. After three great roof jobs I will not call anyone else. Thanks Greg.

Steve, Jordan and crew were great! They did an excellent job of removing and replacing a 30 yr old roof, on 2 structures in less than 3 days. They were always cordial and considerate of our property and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. Hope I do not need them for 30 years, but definitely would hire again!

I have ammended this review after talking to the owner. I called him. He offered to come out and look at the roof. I said no thanks. He said he can't get to all of his calls. He also said his son writes the review responses. I said then your son needs to learn to read. My review does not state that I called 3 days ago. It states that 3 days passed without receiving a return call. I called on Thursday not Saturday.
I also told the owner that if they spent as much time returning calls as they did protecting their online reputation they would not have receiced a 1 star review from me. Also, the owner stated that he had seen my name on the call log from Thursday so the reponse that they return calls in 24-48 hours is innacurate My prior 1 star review is as follows.
It is the factual truth. It is not an attempt to extort their business. - I experienced the same non-response as the other 1 star rater. I called and spoke with a woman who said an estimator would call me back. 3 days later I have not heard from them. No missed calls in my call log and no voice mails. My voice mail box is not full. No way to run a business but so typical of bubbas who do this kind of work.

Will not call you back. I live and work in the Tri-City area and I called them three times in three days and they have never called me back. Not sure how they do business, but not calling a potential client doesn't make sense to me. I'm moving on.

I saw where you had tried to call me, but that was after I have moved on. Nothing to talk about at this point. I feel that after 3 attempts to try contact you without a call back was enough. We had an aging asphalt roof that was starting to flip shingles in the wind storms. I located Sanderson Roofing online and was immediately impressed with the quality work in the sample photos and overwhelmingly positive reviews. We wanted a full roof replacement with metal and contacted them for an estimate. Sanderson’s estimate was very competitive and their heavier gage metal was very nice. I really liked there was no sales pressure and no attempt to up-sell anything. They began the job right on schedule and on time. The polite, professional crew was promptly on time each day. They were friendly, never had loud music, never vulgar language, and humored me on fussing over the shabby lightning rods we had on the ridge. They worked practically nonstop, I never saw them rest except to grab a quick lunch. They lightly cleaned the site each day and thoroughly cleaned it on the final day. The roof panel workmanship was very high quality and the attention to detail for flashing and facia was amazing. They actually made a small notch in an end panel to fit neatly around a mounting screw for an antenna bracket on my facia board. During the entire process it felt like family was doing our roof (we are not related though). The final result is beautiful and the whole family loves it. An exceptionally memorable experience all the way. I highly recommend Sanderson Roofing and will refer everyone I know to them without hesitation.

I called Mr. Sanderson because I was in need for a new roof on my home. He wanted to come by my house to take a look and see what I wanted and also what would be best for me. After making up my mind on what I wanted, Mr Sanderson gave me a date on when he would be able to start work on my roof . He kept in touch and he came by my house to begin work on the agreed upon date. He was finished in two days and he did an excellent job. Mr Sanderson was a true professional who knows his craft well. The finished product looks even better than I thought it would. I recommend Mr Sanderson to anyone needing a roof.

We're very happy with the work by S.M. Sanderson. Cost for this standing seam metal roof was not much more than regular asphalt/gravel shingles...Plus, I see many 100+ year old metal roofs in the countryside...Please note the roof over the front porch (and side porch not seen here) were "shed roof" design, which lead to many leaks...Mr. Sanderson was kind enough to suggest the "A Frame" roof, which a framing contractor changed. We're very thankful for the reasonably priced, expeditious work that S.M. Sanderson and his crew completed. Please see the "before" and "after" photos, from a happy customer.
ps: We haven't decided on painting and replacing the window shutters, yet.

My house was under contract to sell and ended up needing a new roof. With a week until closing, Sanderson came out quoted a great price and had the roof complete before closing and of course did a great job.

Sanderson Roofing just completed a job for me. They repaired a leaking roof (not one they installed) and replaced my gutters and installed gutter guards. Steve and crew has been on point throughout the entire process. Great communication from Steve and his office! They arrived promptly when scheduled and completed work quickly! Steve (owner) explained what he found with my roof and explained the corrective measures taken. This company uses thicker gauge metal on their gutters and installs more stand-offs than other companies to ensure the strength of the gutters. I have already secured additional work with Steve when they can work me into their schedule. I was very pleased with the fair price I paid for the work and highly recommend Sanderson Roofing! I found this company through a referral of a friend from work, very thankful. This is a company you can depend on and trust!

Steve and his employees were polite, professional, and timely. He was very helpful with providing me with information on a metal roof versus a shingle roof when I was undecided and assisted me with choosing the right color. When the work was complete it was so beautiful I decided to extend it to the detached garage and shed. It is such a relief knowing I will not have to replace my roof again. I’m so thankful that this company sent down materials from Virginia to help the Florida Keys after Irma! So many roofs were damaged and many of my friends were forced out of their homes.
