Jim is the best! If you want an honest and professional roofing company, go the Richards & Swift. The crew came out promptly and got the job done quickly and the cleanup was great. They stripped & replaced the shingles and replaced the 14 wood panels the same day, the job looks great.

They even repaired my gutter on the garage that was starting to fall off. They did excellent work and now I don’t have to worry about water getting into my garage and causing damage anymore. They are an excellent business and I would recommend them for any roofing needs you have.

I had a fantastic experience working with Richards and Swift Roofing. After reaching out to them on April 4th, I met with Jim, one of the owners, on April 7th. The same day, I received a detailed bid for the project.

Following approval from the church vestry on April 13th, the team promptly began work on April 23rd and impressively completed the entire job in just one day. Their efficiency and expertise were evident throughout the process.

Not only was the work executed flawlessly, but the cleanup afterward was so thorough that it was nearly impossible to tell the roof had been redone—no debris left behind, just a beautifully completed project.

Of the dozen or so companies I called, Richards & Swift Roofing was the only one that didn’t try to push unnecessary work or inflate the price. Jim, the owner, personally came out for the quote, a stark contrast to the usual “salesmen” other companies send.

Jim told me exactly what needed to be done—no more, no less. He reminded me of my grandfather, who was also in the trade. Both of them are the kind of people whose handshake/word meant something. Him and his crew replaced my roof and gutters with precision, speed, and care. No stress. No surprises. No shortcuts. Just honest work, done honestly. People like Jim don’t exist anymore. If you need a roofing professional you can trust, this is who you call. When the work was finished the only evidence of it was that my roof looked brand new; he also brought my kids stuffed animals and coloring books which is honestly the kind of nicety and thoughtfulness that’s missing from the world.

I called this company the end of last week to request two weeks on my garage roof and one of my gutters raised. They offered to do it Saturday by ask them to wait till Monday. The men came and fixed both leaks plus a damaged shingle on the end of the roof. They also raised the gutter a few inches. I went on the roof to watch them and I feel they did a good job.

My experience with Richards and Swift Roofing was absolutely amazing. From the quote to the finished product, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were able to answer any questions and concerns I had from the front end, they were able to schedule the service within a short timeframe, and the new roof was slapped on in only 1 day! Jim was fantastic to work with! He was able to come out the very next day (Tuesday) to provide an estimate. Jim was able to schedule me that Monday as my roof was in desperate need of repairs. Jim did a great job explaining everything and answer all my questions in detail. He was price very well. The crew was very nice and detail oriented. They did a great job cleaning up any messes made from the tear down. 10/10 would recommend!

We are very pleased with our experience with Richards & Swift! Not only were they the most reasonably-priced, but they were the one company that didn't give off a vibe of just trying to "sell us something." Instead of sending out a salesman to give their whole spiel, Jim Swift himself came to talk to us about our options and answer our questions. The work was completed in one day and they did a good job with cleanup as well.

For full transparency: a few days after work was completed, we went into a guest room that we rarely go into and saw that the ceiling had been cracked through (probably a worker dropped something or fell onto it... not sure). We sent them a picture and they immediately responded and sent out a drywall repair company to fix the ceiling and give it a fresh coat of paint.

We are very happy with our decision of choosing Richards & Swift and we would recommend them to anyone looking to get their roof replaced.

We cannot say enough great things about Richards & Swift Roofing. First, a few years ago they did the roof on our home and then just last month they roofed our 2.5 car garage. Each experience was fabulous. The workers are expert, courteous and especially careful with our landscape. They even went next door to make sure no nails or old tiles ended up on our neighbors yard!

I contacted them for new seamless gutters. They showed up, did the job, and they were done in an hour and a half. They leaf blowed their mess and cleaned up perfectly! Gutters look amazing, they replaced some of the wood behind the gutters as well. Lastly, the best part is they remembered to close and lock the gate to our backyard. Could not recommend them enough. We had a leak we discovered in our garage roof last week and our roof was in rough shape. I was recommended to this company by a friend. I called Jim and he came out immediately to check it out for me! He was so friendly and informative from beginning to end. He always answered all my questions and his crew does great work! They cleaned up the best they could with the snow and Jim said he'd come back out when the snow was melted to make sure the roof is good and the yard is all clean. Highly recommend this company! Our office building has a flat roof. Not all companies do flat roofs. When our roof started leaking in the Fall of 2022. These guys were at our property to stop the leaks quickly. We ended up doing a complete roof. They did a great job, showed up on time, charged a fair price, and even included pictures of before and after the job. I highly recommend this company.

My wife and I contracted Richards & Swift for a full tear-off and replacement. Jim came out to give the free inspection and estimate. He was straightforward and professional- he didn't spend an hour+ giving us a pre-rehearsed sales pitch like some roofing companies do. I really appreciated that. As we discussed the job it was evident that he has a lot of experience and stands behind his work.

The price was far better than competitors, and backed by a warranty on workmanship which a lot of competitors only offer on their "premium" packages. When it came time to pay the were no hidden fees.

The crew was polite and unintrusive. They cleaned up after themselves and Jim personally came by to sweep up with a magnet the next day. They even cleaned up some branches I had left lying in the yard and re-hung a small piece of siding which had slipped on our garage.

My fiancé and I recently just closed on our house and the first thing that we needed to do was replace the roof. Richards and Swift Roofing was very professional, timely, and the final product we received was well worth the money that we put in. We highly recommend this company and their work, and are so excited as we continue making this house our home!

Everything leading up to the work was good. After the work was done, however, there were a lot of problems. Jim came out to look, saw the issues and then has ghosted for the rest of the year. I had to hire another roofing company to fix all of the issues that resulted in water leaks causing other damage to the house.
Issues - didn't install flashing, installed flashing backward, didn't put shingles all of the way to the siding, had staples sticking into shingles, lost gutter pieces, didn't reattach gutters to house, and severely scratched skylight windows.

The fact that the work was done poorly, was left with issues from the beginning, and then promised to come for months to fix the issues but never came leads to this poor review. Stay away from Richards and Swift (Jim Swift) roofing. The price was good, but you get what you pay for.

I had a leak in my roof after some heavy rains and called Richards & Swift to see about locating the source of the leak. I left a message and was called back within 15 minutes. I explained my situation and Jim came out the next morning to check it out. He was actually early, checked everything out, and gave an honest assessment without trying to unnecessarily upsell me on anything. I will definitely call this company for any future roofing or gutter needs.

A section of shingles blew off our roof this spring. I happened to be driving behind a Richards & Swift Roofing truck on Thursday afternoon and called the number on the truck. Jim, immediately returned my call. The next day Alex came by and gave us a very reasonable estimate. I called first thing Monday morning to schedule my repair. My roof was fixed by the end of the day! Amazingly fast service! Super friendly. I highly recommend these guys!

Had Dale Richards do this roof 5.5 years ago. Had a leak since day 1, and tried multiple times to get them to fix it. Now that it's Richards & Swift, Mr. Swift states he will not honor my warranty. Had to pay another company come and fix it right. They reported nails from the old roof causing leaks as well as a complete failure to flash in these skylights. All they did in the past was pour on caulk.

Had Jim Swift replace roof at my kids house in Troy couple years ago. Great work, reasonable prices, no issues since. Recently needed a rental condo checked for roof leak. Jim promptly called back, checked the issue and found a cracked vent in the roof. He fixed it no charge! Definitely my go to person for all roof work.

Great team. Showed immediately following approval of estimate. Completed my roofing project even quicker than expected. Following tear off and during installation of new roof, they always cleaned up at the end of each day.
