After talking with several contractors in this daunting pursuit of building my ADU, I chose RG Construction Services, LLC because they handled every aspects of the build from giving me a price range to chose from for the ADU itself, an estimate of the extra cost that may be incurred during the process, handling the permitting process with the city, hiring other tradesman, scheduling, building, helping with design and communication with me throughout the process including scheduled payment as the build progressed. I had a great design team that listened and open to what I wanted/needed in my ADU once I chose my basic home design/size and a contact person I could call with questions (Hannah, Krista, Betsey, Allison, Andrea, Linnea). Once the city gave its approval several months down the road, I had a great supervisor to work with (Brandon) who made sure we talked or texted daily and I understood what to expect as the build proceeded! This was a long and learning process but the results and cost was worth it, thanks to the rest of the team including Richard, Ronald, Sergio, Nick, Roza, Erik and anyone I did not name!

We found them from BIA, but I’m upset with the quote after the design of meeting, and probably lost our down payment, which is about double price if you hire engineers to draw. If you keep working with them, the cost is even double with other contractors. Need to be careful to send out money and sign any agreement. I didn’t know that they need to spend that many hours on drawing, and all the meeting between their team, all the cost is on customer. We can’t keep going because it’s way over our budget, and if we want to keep in our budget, the design was not what we expected at the beginning. Not like at the first free estimation, the salesman said it all doable, it could be within your budget. What an expensive lesson learned! It’s not a pleasant experience at all.

It is difficult to know where to begin in describing the wonderful experience we had working with R.G. Construction. We live in a 1940 ish farm house and to put it mildly, it was “creatively” built and the equally creatively “remodeled” in the 70’s. It was tired when we moved in and when we raised our kids here, we killed it the rest of the way. When we began our efforts to fix it, we prayed to be guided to GOOD people, that we could trust with our money, and would help us achieve our goals. From our first visit with Richard we knew RG was the company to use. From Design to finish we worked with WONDERFUL people. They helped us every step of the way. The Subs they sent to our home and the RG1 team are the best you could ask for. Remodeling a home with such huge issues is no small thing, and sharing your home with the construction team for months could have been a nightmare. We honestly enjoyed the process. It was a pleasure to welcome such good people to our home every day. And we are beyond grateful for all they have done for us. It is truly a blessing to live in a home that is good as new (if not better) from top to bottom. We are grateful that the RG team accepted the Challenge that WAS our home and made it so incredibly beautiful inside and out.

We used RG Construction for a partial renovation of a house prior to move in. We were several states away and coordinated everything with them remotely.

Bought a house that was remodeled and flipped by the owner of this company. Assume he used his company for the work. They laid down new flooring, and encapsulated water while doing so. We have already had to replace this flooring since it was massively bowing and mold was starting to present. ($13,000).

Stove was directly hardwired into the wall. No outlet. This is illegal and highly dangerous as a fire hazard.

This is just what we’ve found in under a month. Would not recommend this company for anything if this is a flip done by their owner.

The team worked with us from the beginning design and responsive to all our changes throughout the project. The end product was more than we expected. They worked will with our selections and personal purchases to integrate into the building.

The best thing one can say about a construction co. build is that it looks like it's always been that way. That's exactly how we feel about our new garage addition. RG has a great office team, who took care of us start to finish. And a great sub-contractor team, who made sure everything was completed properly. Our foreman Nick was outstanding!! We used RG construction to build an approximately 1800 SF horse barn on our property. They took the concept from design and budget to building it and everything in between. The stress of the project was very low for me. I was in constant contact with the superintendent and he was present on the jobsite daily. Communication was very good. Overall I am pleased with the end result, the cost, and just my overall experience. They continue to respond to questions I have and stand by their work 100%. Would definitely use them again.

Update: we used RG construction a second time for a kitchen remodel and some other improvements to our house incl laundry room relocation, flooring, and reside/paint all at the same time. Very smooth process and excellent communication. There were some hiccups but each issue was fully addressed and the team communicated well. When someone is in your house for months working and receiving large amounts of money from you, you want to feel like every detail is being communicated because that’s your money and your investment in your home. Also each day work continues is a day you’re not in your home. I felt good about the communication (and transparency) throughout the process. And of course the workmanship and end result was to my standards and in many ways exceeded my expectations. Already planning for a third project with Richard and the team! Definitely would recommend.

The most difficult part of choosing a contractor is finding a business that is honest, fair and will stand behind the quality of their work to put your faith into. Unfortunately, Richard and his team missed the mark on all three. What we got for our 10K investment was 3 life lesson. I will give them to you for free.

Life lesson 1
Bring a tape recorder to all meetings. RG refuses to do much by email. They prefer verbal communication. It is much easier to deny the things you have said if there is no record of it.

Life lesson 2
Do not trust online reviews. We should have talked to our neighbors to find contractors. I am not sure how their reviews are so high. I am sure there are many individuals that have had great experiences, but I have a hard time believing we are the first customer they dropped the ball so badly with.

Life lesson 3
Get out early. I knew after our first meeting there was a problem. The first revision was so far off from what we were told we could get done within our budget. We should have talked to the team about ending the relationship at that point.

I have no animosity with anyone we worked with. We like their team and I wash them the best. Life goes on.

The only reason I'm giving them 5 stars is that I can't give them 6... They're very flexible and reasonable... Rohelio has a good vision to see how things will look.

We are very happy with the ADU that RG Construction built in our backyard! It’s a great live-in music studio for my son and will serve as a wonderful future mother-in-law house for me:)

I highly recommend Richard and his team because they were professional, conscientious and pleasant. They provided full-service support through all the phases of the project. Most importantly they listened to our ideas, needs and vision of the design. All of the interactions were positive and helpful. Anytime I had a question or concern, Jon (site superintendent) and Dana (client relations) responded promptly. The coordination and management of the subcontractors was impressive.

The process of selecting a construction company was extensive, it involved a lot of research and speaking with previous customers. However, the congenial nature of the receptionist was the most compelling component. The whole staff worked diligently to make our dream house come to fruition.

We are truly satisfied with the finished building and would hire them again for future projects.

The team at RG construction are caring and thoughtful of the clients budget and they make you a pert of their family. At the end of the day they are very professional and very willing to do the right thing.

I chose to work with RG Construction because of the attention to detail and thoroughness of their initial proposal. It was the best decision because the crew was fast, didn't miss a detail, and had excellent workmanship. My communications with Beth were a pleasure. She was succinct, made valuable suggestions, was light-hearted, and has a great eye for design. They were honest, accurate with their estimates, met the deadline, and even went above and beyond. They have old fashioned values and take pride in their work. I was more than satisfied with the completed project and would definitely work with them again and won't hesitate to recommend them to friends.

We used Rg construction to add an additional 735 sq ft to our existing house, as well as replace all the floors, light fixtures and added a kitchen pantry. They were prompt, responsive and receptive to changes along the way. They were upfront about costs and worked with us to accommodate our budget. I would highly recommend them and we would use them again for other major projects!

I was soooo lucky to find RG Construction Services for my kitchen remodel! This was my first remodel project. The Team and Richard were wonderful. All the Contractors were courteous, professional and did a great job. I got more done than I expected and even came in a little under Budget. I would highly recommend RG Construction and have to my neighbors!!

We hired RG Construction to remodel our basement because they were the most responsive and professional when we were getting bids from multiple other companies. They understood what we wanted and were able to move relatively quickly in getting the project started and completed. We were really impressed by their communication during the process. While the basement remodel was happening our floors were being refinished upstairs by an outside subcontractor that we found and unfortunately there was a smoke/fire incident that basically ruined the main floor and upstairs. At this point with insurance involved we were working with the insurance recommended restoration and construction company and they were starkly different from RG, not responsive at all and we could not get them to start rebuilding the home for months. During the time, RG worked with the other construction company whenever they needed things done in the basement and at some point we realized that working with the insurance recommended company was really failing so we asked RG to step in and complete the rest of the home. The house was down to the studs and RG worked with us to enact the plans we wanted in terms of removing certain walls, reconfiguring bathrooms, replacing all the windows, HVAC system, new insulation, and building the home into a better version than it was before. Along the way our project managers were fantastic in responding to our text messages and emails and whenever anything was off or missing they were really responsive in getting it corrected. We worked with them for over a year in the whole process of redoing the basement and then the main floor and upstairs. In that time we witnessed the professionalism and work ethic of their crew and came away extremely impressed. We love the home now and are so thankful we found RG.

We had a sunroom room addition done and it turned out even more beautiful than I had imagined. They are so easy to work with, very friendly and patient with changes. Our project manager, Blake was amazing to work with.

Richard, Brett and the RG team came to our rescue when our framing job got botched by another company. They swooped in to manage the rest of the framing stage, and turned what started as a nightmare into a beautiful chapter in our brand new home build. Incredibly knowledgeable, responsive and pleasant to work with. Highly recommend these people to any owner-builders in the area!

Wonderful company with an excellent team. I needed extra hand holding during the process of removing the tub and installing a walk-in shower so I could age in place. Lots of decisions and they made it easy for me. I would definitely recommend them.

We worked with Richard and his team on a total kitchen remodel of our 1931 house. We had a pretty firm budget and Richard was totally upfront about costs and worked with us to find selections that would keep us within budget. From the project management onsite, to the help from the design team and responsiveness when any issues/questions came up, everyone on the team was really top notch. I recommended RG to my best friend who is now mid kitchen remodel and also very happy with the process. We will definitely use RG again for any major construction needs.

Richard and the RG Construction team have done several projects around our home and do top quality work. They are extremely responsive, professional, and truly care about their clients. If we need something done we call Richard because we know it will be done right.

Richard responded extremely quickly after I contacted RG about installing railings in our loft after learning our insurance was about to be cancelled. RG did a custom design and took care to match the existing woodwork grain and stain color. A talented carpenter set up outside our home to custom build and install the two railings, working a long day to have it completed before leaving, minimizing trips and exposure. The follow-up after the installation was good, touching up and completing the finish. I don’t leave many recommendations, but whole-heartedly endorse RG. They epitomize Customer Service with their actions, attitudes, and follow-up!

Everyone was polite, on time and got job done quickly. Good communication, and overall happy with the experience. I plan to use them on another job in the future. Thanks RG.

RG Construction did an awesome job on our remodel. We had them install flooring, replace a couple exterior doors, full bathroom remodel and kitchen counters/tile work. They are a company you can depend on, they are more than fair, and go the extra mile for you. I feel the true test of a contractor is how they handle problems that always seem to come up in every job and RG handle those issues like the professionals they are. We are totally pleased with such a wonderful company that treated us like family . We had a unique problem with our bathroom flooring , other contractors didn’t want anything to do with it !! Can't speak highly enough of Richard and his team.

Stuck with us through the Covid pandemic - quickly updated schedules and kept us abreast of upcoming delays. They tracked our schedule and budget in their handy online dashboard so we could check on progress.
We had a couple unique asks (concrete floors, underfloor heating, toe kick cabinet drawers) and they bent over backward to get it done right.

To speak to their quality, when asked about a 1 week delay on the concrete floors, they noted they were not satisfied with the quality of the first pour and were in the process of tearing it up (on their dime) and getting a second bid. The end result is a fantastic beautiful concrete floor that my wife loves.

They were also the pinnacle of professionalism addressing any changes in scope or outstanding concerns without any pushback or complaint. Sometimes even coming back after the job for touch ups upon request. It was a very refreshing experience. Thank you RG and look forward to working with you on any of our future projects!

Richard and his team recently did a great job building a large 3000 SF shop building for us. Richard was very patient with my many questions during the project and always took the time to explain every detail that I asked about. He followed through 100% with quality materials and workmanship and did everything he said he would do at the same exact cost as his estimate. He was always available to answer phone calls, and promptly returned any missed calls. He personally came and checked on progress a number of times. His team members were very pleasant to work with and the framers were also very nice guys that did a good job and did a number of finish details that I had not expected.
Richard is definitely someone you like to deal with who does everything he says he'll do, and is genuinely concerned that the customer is pleased with the work.
The project took far longer than expected due to long delay getting permit from Clark Co, but Richard did his best to keep things moving as fast as he could and helped solve a couple of problems the County had with my project.
It was a great experience dealing with Richard, I'm very pleased with the project and I would recommend RG Construction to anyone considering a building project.

We needed a repair to our retail building and Richard and his team worked around our operating hours, finished the job without disrupting our business. They even cleaning the shop and we couldn't tell they were even there. The whole process was very smooth, on budget and done in a timely manner. I would recommend RG Construction to anyone.

We had just moved into our home and our bathrooms were very outdated + small. Richard was great in terms of giving us an overview of what it would look like to expand the space. Once decisions were made, the team jumped right in and didn’t waste anytime with getting the project started. Everything was done in a timely manner and communicating with the team was very easy. Responses were fast and if we didn’t like how something was done, they were quick to change it to what we preferred. We felt that they really cared about the outcome of the remodel and our budget. RG Construction remodeled two bathrooms for us as well as tending to a variety of projects showing up on the inspection of a newly-acquired house. The bids were reasonable relative to competing bids, but they are not the least-expensive alternative. Richard is willing to bid on just about anything. The projects started on time and moved right along, staying within a day or two of a schedule provided to us up front. We are happy with the outcome. Richard comes around every few days to see how his guys and the subcontractors have been doing; anything needing correction gets prompt attention. Several call-backs also were dealt with promptly. All were nice people and easy to get along with. Responsive when contacted. We would use them again. And, Beth makes killer sweet rolls.

You know those house unveiling shows on TV where a house is remodeled and the owner never gets to see it until it's finished and is blown-away by the final result? Well, that's what Richard did for us.

We bought a house in Battleground, WA that needed to be completely gutted and remodeled. The timing coincided with a two month vacation to Europe that we had booked long before we bought the house. To make a long story short, we put Richard in charge of the whole (huge) remodel and, with his designer Abigail, they transformed our house from a dark cave into a beautiful home that we love to be in.

The number one thing I like about Richard (besides his personality) is his communication. Richard will get right back to you even though he is very busy. This is why we really like working with him more than other contractors and why it was possible to have all our house work done when we were away. We picked out most of our house fixtures on-line and sent the information to Richard via email or text and he would install them for us. We also depended upon and used the recommendations that Richard and Abigail gave us.

In conclusion, I have not worked with a more professional builder than Richard. He will stand behind and fix any problems that may come up so you can trust that the job (however big or small) will be done to the highest standards.

Professional in one word. We couldn't have been more pleased with the professionalism of all the RG associates. Our first contact with Beth was very pleasant and extremely helpful. Made an appointment and then sent us a confirmation email. So efficient we were blown away. Then meeting with Richard was a wonderful experience. Very knowledgeable, lots of ideas, no high pressure salesmanship BS, and a joy to walk through the initial process with. Can't say enough great things about our foreman James. Professionalism was top notch, customer satisfaction was obviously priority one w/him, and communication was flawless. We always knew ahead of time what was going on and when to expect the next step and what it was. As to be expected in contracting any job, there are always mishaps along the way. James handled every one of them in a fashion that our satisfaction was job one! Jake and Levi were also extremely polite, hardworking young men. I was super pleased with my experience  working with RG Construction. I wanted to add almost 500 square feet to our home and remodel our main bathroom. In the addition we added a kitchenette, full bath, small lounge area and bedroom. Thanks to Richard Garrett, I was able to accomplish this. I love my addition.  The walk out shower is so practical  and beautiful.

I have been involved in a number of construction projects during the past years, so I can compare my different experiences. What stood out to me about Richard is his positive "can do" attitude, his desire to make the client happy and willingness to fix any problem with the clients happiness in mind. We had RG Construction perform two jobs for us. One interior was floor to ceiling shelving along our fireplace, It turned out beautifully We also had RG Construction build an exterior patio cover which is one of the most professionally done and nicest looking we have seen. That patio cover designed and constructed by RG construction has "class." Everyone who sees it loves it. The company owner, Richard Garrett and his staff, and his staff are terrific to work with. They stay in touch. They developed a plan and stuck with it. I fully recommend them because of what they did for us.

Richard and his crew did an excellent job on our home remodel. We bought our first home and had a few things to take care of, like removing a wall in the kitchen for an open floor plan, carpentry and woodworking for the cabinets, venting the attic, and adding a couple of windows for much-needed light.
