Red Roof Inn Charleston West - Hurricane, WV

We were here for a few weeks and was great, close to work, but Chelsea was amazing, she is on point when cleaning the rooms, never went without and alway willing to get us what we needed. She's a keeper!

Room was clean and well kept. The house keeper Chelsea was efficient and thorough. The room price very reasonable. Fix place to stay

I had a room here and I was told as long as I made my weekly payment it would be held for me. This morning I went to renew they told me they didn't have room...... when looking for another room Expedia had a room of the same type available for the night at thesame hotel! I had been there approximately a month and was planning on staying until the end of October even though room service is not very good. I will pay a little more and get a nicer place. I will not be staying there again.
Edit after response - I will not be taking the chance of the same thing happening again. I usually would but when I saw that the same room type was available for rent on Expedia for the night I was kicked out completely takes any chance of me coming back away.

Front Desk- Good, friendly service.
Room- bug free, clean floors, clean bathroom, clean sheets, Pet friendly.

Cons- one pillow case was not clean and had lip stick on it so we didn't use that pillow.
There were a lot of cigarette butts on the ground in the pet elimination areas which is not safe for fur babies.

Note: There is no breakfast but it was my own fault for not checking into that to begin with.

Overall this hotel was decent. It wasn't the best Red Roof I've ever been to and it wasn't the worst either.

For the price, I was expecting something rundown with no amenities. But this was just as good as anything we'd pay twice the amount for. Well furnished, good mattresses, pet friendly. Didn't have any issues.

I am currently staying at this place and I just read reviews stating there are active cases of bedbugs. And I have reasons to believe that I was just staying in one of these rooms . Now I'm told owner is away in vacation and currently awaiting a phone call from the owner who has yet to contact me. I am pretty livid at the situation considering I've paid around 800$ thus far for my stay here to only now to be at risk of being infested with bedbugs.needless to say this is ridiculous to think that management would allow such an occurrence like this to happen to a cash paying customer to which at the end of my first week of staying here was kicked out of my room for being 2 hours late on payment of a promised return stay to which the manager was told after about the sixth return to my room that he kicked me out of as he was looking for payment that was promised while I was there with my dogs awaiting my fiances return as she had the cash payment to give him after her meeting with an insurance adjuster due to a fire that displaced us from our home. As I had to place my belongings on the sidewalk outside the room along with my pets for two and a half hours waiting in the cold for her return with the cash payment. And when she arrived to find all of our stuff in the sidewalk she paid the bill and we were given a different room no apology effort was ever made and to be honest I wasn't expecting one I couldn't pay because I didn't have the money my fiancee did along with our phone as I sat there in the cold waiting I did think of a few cuss words to myself I get it no pay no stay my word was not good enough therefore no apology was expected on my end. And now the thoughts of being exposed to bed bugs I'm needless to say not a happy paying customer at the moment and if this review happens to stay up I will tell of the conclusion as to what happens next.

I've never stayed in a red roof inn until now. Tonight will be my fifth night in a row here. I've stayed at the Hampton Inn, quality inn, holiday inn, etc. I was honestly super surprised. Every day I check in, everything's back in the original place. New towels. New soap. Beds are folded symmetrically. Remotes are placed in the same spot for use of the tv. The floors are clean, the sheets and pillows are clean, and the biggest part is the rooms smell like someone just cleaned it every time I come in. Keep in mind I've stayed in 4 different rooms during the last five visits - so if everything has been the same between all the rooms, that means they're providing the same good service in each room they have. Every mornings ive left, the house keepers are out in this cold weather back and forth cleaning the rooms. I work outside a lot myself and it's freezing. So for them to not shortcut even the smallest thing and clean and make sure every room is spotless - I think that's really awesome. I'm surprised because I had heard all this and that about red roof inns but it's extremely nice for what it's worth. The sink is granite countertop also and the shower curtains are the ones online that are fancy. Every night I've stayed I've slept like a baby on fluffy pillows and clean comfy sheets. I work a lot so having good sleep is important and I've slept through the entire night each time. If I could, I'd probably stay here every night. Life doesn't work that way though! Also, it's very quiet for a hotel which is very nice. Thank you for making it a great experience. Life's short and I'm just happy I've been staying here. I work in Huntington which is 35 miles away and there's plenty of hotels along the way but I've come back from my 12 hour shifts every night because I know I'll get the same experience. Blonde receptionist and house keepers are so kind. But the manager is very rude and unsympathetic towards humans it's sad. And on top of that the prices for the room are very over priced. The rooms are decent but some also have bedbugs. Definitely not my first choice to stay

Everything was great. I also want to mention the exceptional service from the night clerk and day clerk and the housekeeping staff who did an outstanding job of cleaning the room. Highly recommend!

Worst ever experience i had in my life with the receptionist. I booked a room for 1 night stay, when I showed up at the motel the receptionist said to wait for couple of minutes. After that she said she doesn’t have my booking and can’t provide me a room since she completed the audit. I requested that I will check out by 11:00 am as per my stay. Nowhere it shows that i have to check in only before this time.I have already paid for my stay, still i was ready to pay at the motel if she
provide me with room. But she said she doesn’t have any rooms available. When they don’t have any rooms available why should they take the reservation with payment. She refused to even talk to manager. I highly don’t recommend this place.

Roches (by safe and in microwave), Broken A/C room 120, 9/20/24

Checked in for 2 weeks now, requested an extended stay up front for around 30 days.

After I asked for the A/C to get fixed they wouldnt allow me to continue my stay.

0/5 stars if possible for the BS upfront.

If you want a good review back, Reimbursement for something is a must. Especially since I intended on staying here for a decent while and was basically kicked out for higher paying people assumingly not staying for a weekly rate.

House Keepers are doing their job, maybe everyone else can try harder too?

Nice for the price. The room was clean, the beds comfortable. But it does seem to be older and in need of remodeling and/or repair.

Very clean inside and out. . Room was very clean. King Mattress was comfortable ,nice and clean. No refrigerator, microwave or coffee pot.

Even though the Red Roof Inn no longer has smoking rooms available, I stop here because it is pet friendly. Meaning no fee for Puppie! However, I can smoke on the premises while walking with Puppie. And it is quiet. When it is quiet Puppie is more comfortable and will often enough lay down and enjoy it a few extra minutes.

I usually take a standard room, but this time I wanted a fridge and microwave. (I travel with a single cup coffee maker. I want/need that when I wake up! Otherwise I am - how can I say - a bit grouchy!)
The room and bathroom were clean. Everything in good operational condition.
Two wheelchair accessible parking slots on the backside. And, I believe, one to the front.
Coffee is served in the check-in lobby until 11a.

Everybody was welcoming and accommodating! Process of checking in and out was smooth and easy! Rooms were clean and the housekeeping crew was efficient and friendly! Andrea was especially helpful! Great people. Great hotel. Great all around experience!

Overall, my experience at the hotel was great thanks to the friendly and helpful front desk staff.

Despite the initial confusion with finding the entrance, Andria, Sandy and Will from the front desk made sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their kindness truly made a difference, especially with the frustration of our hotel reservation being cancelled at a different hotel.

I will definitely remember their exceptional customer service and recommend this hotel to others.
I did not have time to roam the hotel, I don’t think I saw a gym nor a pool.

The place was clean, price was reasonable, and is conveniently located. The room was very clean, maybe a little outdated but not by much. There are lots of restaurants nearby, a department store, and many other stores. Will, at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be staying here again during our travels.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room is clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this location to all West Virginia travelers! Pet friendly is a bonus!

BEDBUGS in room 135. Another reviewer from a few months ago found bedbugs here, too. I wouldn’t have booked a room here if I had been more diligent in researching. I booked through Bring Fido because I was looking for a cheap pet friendly place to crash at for a few hours in the middle of a long road trip. Lesson learned.

Aside from the bugs, the room was really very worn down and dirty. There were stains all over the bed, the sheets had a lot of hair and someone’s press on nail in them, floors were filthy, the walls were yellowed and had mystery stains, and there were dead bugs and caked up dirt in the corners of the floor and along the walls.

We checked in late, around 1:30 AM and the woman working the desk had clearly been sleeping in the back. I waited in the lobby for at least five minutes. I announced myself and after some time I called them on the phone and it rang endlessly. Eventually the woman came out from the back office and didn’t even acknowledge or apologize for the long wait.

Finally got checked in and our room keys didn’t work, so I had to run back to the lobby to get that fixed. Then, we inspected the room and were absolutely disgusted. I’ve stayed in some seriously cheap hotels for a night during a roadtrip before and this was the nastiest place I’ve ever seen.

We bailed pretty quickly and found another pet friendly hotel (the wingate), but I visited the lobby again before we headed out to let the woman know there were bedbugs and that we wouldn’t be staying there. Her response to being told about bedbugs was literally “ehhh” and not shock or apology, so this couldn’t have been new information for her. I asked for a refund, and she took care of that and offered a half hearted apology as I was walking out the door.

TLDR; don’t do it. Shell out some more money to stay at a nicer place or maybe even sleep in a car or tent before you book a room here.

Room was very dirty there was trash under the beds and the trash cans were disgusting under the garbage bag. They don’t clean behind the sinks and the shower head was broke very concerning that these rooms are like this. I will be looking else where when i stay in this area again

Your staff are so friendly at the front desk, but my rooms cleanliness was very bad. I noticed someone's old sock underneath the bed and it was crusty. There was also a beer can in this room and it reeked bad. I honestly believe my room was haunted. I heard the taunting cries coming from the plumbing.

Feels like home, very clean and inviting. Coffee is great, service is even better. Andrea needs a raise, she’s a doll.

Never in my life have I had to deal with bed bugs until I stayed at this hotel. I am absolutely mortified over this. They tore me up overnight.

Aside from the bed bugs, I had some random female guest walk up to me in the parking lot last night and threatened to cut my throat. Law enforcement had to remove her from the property. Apparently she's been living there for quite some time and is a known nuisance. Not sure why they allow trash like this to continue to stay at this place.

Apart from those issues, every employee I encountered was extremely friendly. Although the rooms are dated and falling apart they were somewhat clean aside from the bed bugs.

Great people to deal with both at check in and check out, they where kind enough to accept our 2 well behaved mid size dogs unlike the rude lady at the red roof Dunbar. The only thing negative would be the very strong air freshener, we aired the room out for a while,it wasn't bad, but might affect someone with breathing issues,(sorry if this is wrong one about the air freshener but i the servive was great,I stayed at many RR inns on my trip personally I would stay again.

Spent two nights here and it wasn’t too bad. The door lock was tricky because the knob for the bolt wasn’t working properly. The heater seemed to be stuck on full blast no matter what temperature I set it to. Finally I shut it down for an hour and a half and tried it again. After that it worked it fine and cycled at the set temperature properly.
The room was kinda beat up looking, furnishings had seen better days and the bedspread had a stain on it.
The location is quiet and picturesque on the backside.
The best part is the helpful young lady at the front desk. Courteous and professional. A real asset for this establishment.

This was my first time to stay at this particular Red Roof. It was a bit hard to find, as it's located behind a shopping center and the sign is on the opposite side of the road where you turn off WV Route 34. This is a typical Red Roof setup with the exterior corridors, which I prefer. I stayed in a standard room with no refrigerator. The room was adequate for my purposes, if a bit small. I wish there had been a TV channel guide in the room and more channels to choose from. The wi-fi was good, shower water pressure was adequate. I'd probably stay here again, as it's the cheapest location I've found between Huntington and Charleston (it's located about halfway between the two cities).

Worst Hotel I’ve stayed in. My company bring them a lot of business due to the large crew we have working in Charleston. They still manage to not clean my workers room nor my room. They have bug infestation, some rooms smells like wet dog, and much more. I would go to the office to request for my room to be cleaned almost everyday and they still don’t clean my room.
What’s freaking unbelievable is that the only day out of a week staying here, they cleaned the whole room but my bed, because I left a shirt on my bed. Office staff stated that since it was my shirt and I wore it, they didn’t wanted to touch it. It’s freaking stupid because they replaced my towels and that touched my private area, idk how that’s different from a shirt that only touched my upper body.
The staffs here are a joke, they pick and choose which room to clean and what to clean. One of the housekeepers even told me that they don’t clean the room if it seems too messy. Isn’t that their job? This place is a joke

Mr. Will and Mr. Hunter are the nicest people working for the hotel!! Anytime I stay here and they are working they always put my priorities before anything else. Top notch work ethic and friendliness! I have noticed my room wasn't cleaned very well there were previous skid marks on the toilet seat. Now I still wish yall had breath mints. They are the top tier fresh minty candy! The night shift woman is always complaining its cold when I'm down there? I don't know what that's about.

One of the best red roofs in wva. Again outta town for work And half the time hit me because I gots lots of stuff to chew on

I cannot say enough about the service provided to guests at the Inn. All staff were friendly and helpful, but those words do not go far enough. They treated me as if I was the most important person to them. I left a medical device in my room, was told they would try to locate it and call back. And actually did just that! Then they went further to get the device sent back to me, wrapped securely to protect it, and sent to my daughters where we were staying, on the time frame they stated. There was no cost incurred Absolute kindness that is sincerely appreciated. You have the right stuff Hurricane, WV Red Roof Inn! Wishing you success in all your endeavors. Also the location is a nice quiet spot and clean with hardworking reliable staff.

I have bedbug bites all over me and they are gaslighting me into thinking I never woke up with the bites all over me.

I had to seek medical attention for the reaction to them. I have never gone through something like this and they are the trauma I had experiencing this.

Please don’t stay here unless you want to itch!

I've stayed at this location twice while passing through Charleston. Both times my room was very clean and was given a ground floor room because I was traveling with my dogs. The Landscaping around the hotel was up kept really nice. Making potty breaking dogs super convenient! Andrea at the front desk was extremely sweet and helpful during the booking and check-in process. It's in close proximity to gas stations, and a few restaurants. This hotel exceeded my expectations for the price.

For the price point of this hotel I find it suitable. The room was clean the bed was very comfortable. Staff was helpful during my check in. I would stay again.

It's nice that it's so close to a few stores and restraunts and it's nice for what it is: a chain hotel. If you need somewhere to stay, there won't be breakfast but the rooms have beds and bathrooms
