Our experience with hiring this company to re-roof our one-story, 1200sf home was extremely disappointing and frustrating. From day one, lots of delays and excuses regarding his crew (after he telling us he didn't trust them to do a good job, he left them on their own to work on our roof), his vehicles breaking down, needing to borrow our ladder because his was on another job, etc.
They did not get a city permit before starting the job as they stated they would do in our contract; they did so about a week and a half later only after I asked about it when I noticed that I couldn't pull up a permit for our address in an online search.
Two weeks after starting, the tear-off was still not complete, and where they had installed new underlayment it looked haphazardly applied. After we asked the owner to correct this so that it looked more uniform, the owner collected his tools and left the jobsite saying he felt like we didn't appreciate him.
We had to hire another roofer to remove the underlayment Rainshadow had installed; the new roofer said he had never seen so many staples used for that type of underlayment and that the underlayment was even screwed on in some places instead of stapled.
Once our new roofer removed the underlayment that Rainshadow installed, the new roofer found that Rainshadow had papered over nail and screw heads that were still sticking up from the tear-off they did and that there was damaged OSB underneath that we were not informed about. If new roofing had been installed over Rainshadow's underlayment, the nailheads and screws they left would have poked through the new roofing material and caused leaks down the road.
We also discovered that the metal that Rainshadow was installing was a thinner gauge than what we had paid for and than what was stated on our contract. So, now are out of an $8600 deposit we paid to Rainshadow for work that someone else had to correct and complete, and we have a driveway full of metal that is too thin so we also have to pay for new roofing material.
By contrast, our new roofer showed up on time, and with his skilled crew he was able to document all of the issues from Rainshadow's work, fix all of the mistakes (pound in the protruding nailheads, etc), and expertly install new underlayment on the entire roof to get our home dried-in in one day. This level of professionalism, craftsmanship and efficiency was completely lacking in our experience with Rainshadow.
We absolutely would NOT recommend Rainshadow Roofing.
