Put out a lot of money to renovate. I was told we had a year warranty to get things fixed after signing papers. They said they would not come back until they were signed. Been trying to get them to fix things for over six months. All I get is a run around. Now I have a wall that was supposed to be redone, shattered and caving in, a shower you cannot turn on. Pipes not attached inside wall. Hardwood floors that have gaps, cracks and buckling. The list goes on and on......

If this is related to closed company from Virginia Beach, Proper Contracting LLC, do not use. Attached picture is the latest in things done wrong, basically this not to code wiring could have cost us our home and potentially loss of life due to a fire. If you used this company for any work, I would have someone you trust check behind them.
Here is the short version;
January 2020 we signed contract for bathroom remodeling
February 2020 demo day
August 2020 "finished" according to company, but had multiple issues and poor quality of work
January 2021 major water damage from poor installation - company didn't want to resolve leaks due to the holiday and told us to call back in 2 days - meanwhile it was an active leak. We called insurance and had water mitigation started immediately
October 2021 - finally got an outstanding contractor out here and as they finish demo of the bathroom they uncover more things that were done wrong.

Jeff with Proper came and helped me to fix 12 years of wear and tear and squirrels on my house, a roof leak had destroyed two floors of drywall and my floor! Proper helped me to fix the roof, replaced, and remedy the dry wall and floors. Replaced the floors with a darker engineered hardwood. Looks amazing!! Very happy with the work done in my home and now we have to look outside to see if it’s raining because it is not raining inside anymore!!

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
