Pro Woodcare

I recently bought a historic log cabin and contacted Pro Woodcare for some information on how to take care of it and to have maintenance done on the cedar roof. They were extremely helpful and quickly got back to me with quotes on various projects but also were happy to provide information on some things I could tackle myself.

Their work on the roof was outstanding. The team was professional and left everything even more cleaned up than it was when they arrived. The shingles they replaced look great and I'm happy to know that I have someone to take care of my home for years to come.

We had an excellent experience with the team at Pro Woodcare. Our deck required more than the usual on terms of removal of old finishes and the team did a great job of restoring it. Tom was very good with communication. We will be using Pro Woodcare in the future again as we have great confidence in their process , capabilities, and communication.

We had a major refinishing job done on our log home and these folks were terrific. From the estimate to the final cleanup communication was excellent and the work was fantastic - everything completed as promised and on time. I will definitely use Pro Woodcare again when needed.

At this point we've used Pro Woodcare a total of 3 times for our deck maintenance program. It dates back to 1999 and though we have had to replace a few boards here and there and expanded it in size, everytime Tom and his crew are finished, it is like new and the pride of our backyard entertaining.

This is the second time I have the honor to utilize Pro Woodcare. Now and 22 years prior on a large cedar home. The workers are diligent, Kind and very thorough - I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company for the workers and the products use.

Everyone I dealt with at Pro Woodcare did a professional, excellent job on my wood deck. This is about the third time in 24 years that they have done the power washing and restaining for me, and I’ve always been very happy with the their work. Great company! I highly recommend Pro Woodcare!

We've had Pro Woodcare out to clean and seal our cedar roof two times. Would recommend! Added fall bonus- they blew out the leaves from the gutters during the course of work.

We recently had a portion of our deck stained. During the washing and staining phase the deck turned out looking great. Very satisfied with the outcome. However during the wash stage a hanging plate was broken by the workers. Tom reimbursed us for the broken plate with no problem. During the staining phase workers did not stain our wood bench which was on our work order. I ran out to their truck and they came back and stained the bench. All in all I would highly recommend Pro Wood care services.

The carpenters did an excellent job on the repair of the exterior logs which were damaged from an electrical fire. Pro Wood Care was extremely thoughtful about working this small job in among all the other work they had scheduled in order to keep our restoration on schedule. They have helped maintain our log home for the eight years we've owned the home. Highly recommend Pro Wood Care to all log home owners.

We couldn't be more pleased with the work Tom and the Pro Woodcare team did again this year on our cedar deck. They prepared the deck and railings, took care of some woodpecker damage, and stained everything in a careful and complete manner. They are a key reason why our deck still looks great after nearly 30 years! Thanks!

They were very nice guys, a couple of skippers and runs but someone came back today and touched them up . I would use them again.

We had a great experience with the team from Pro WoodCare this spring. We had a significant number of logs replaced over the course of about 7 days. The carpenters kept us updated each morning and in the afternoon with their progress, they answered questions throughout the day and addressed other minor issues that they discovered outside of their scope of work as repair work progressed. I really appreciated their advice about caring for our home and suggestions on products to use for minor repairs and staining the replacement logs. Despite the spring weather impacting their expected schedule the work was done well, as quickly as possible and with little disruption to our daily lives. Thanks Pro WoodCare!

They cleaned and repaired the roof quickly and worked around some rain. When they were done, they cleaned up and left the property as they found it.

Rude salesman, poor quality- initial work looks nice, but wait. Poor quality stains do not stand up to the elements. When things do not go right, Salesman Tom (pretends to be owner until you call him on it) will respond w/ sarcasm and defensive verbal comments insinuating you are an idiot. He actually laughed right in my face and I had to ask him 4x to please leave my property. Doubt he would have behaved this way had my husband been home-no respect for women. I would caution against using Pro WoodCare. They look good on the outside, but they will not help you if you have a complaint past their short 18-month warranty.

Had small deck/steps sanded/stained in late 2020. Upon initial estimate, Tom was friendly and convincing with promises such as, and I quote,: “Our stain contains fungicide and ‘mildew-cide’ and after our treatment, your deck will never have mildew or fungus again." “No maintenance needed for 2-4 years.” Seems he will tell you what you want to hear to make a sale. Initial work looked very nice for about a year. After the 2nd spring, about 18 months after treatment, the cheap stain began to wear away on the main traffic path (used mainly by 2 adults), steps, railings. Black mildew/green slimy fungus grew over half the surface. By year two, the deck looked terrible: Stain worn away. Moldy. Black mildew, green mold/fungus covered almost all the deck. (Better off w/ a DIY job using Menards products. Our original treatment w/ a polyurethane coating, was done by family and lasted 10-15 years of kids running up and down the deck all day before showing any signs of wear & tear. Tom laughed at that, too, insisting that’s impossible.) We called to complain at three years and understood this was past the 18 month warranty, but based on Tom’s assurance that “no maintenance would be needed for 2-4 years,” we inadvertently postponed. When Tom came to inspect the deck in September 2023, his customer service was worse than the bad appearance of the deck. His response regarding his observation of the worn, fungus-coated deck: “It looks as expected,” then he blamed the location of the deck. Ridiculous. He did not make one single effort to try to correct the problem or truly listen to my concerns. Instead, he displayed an unprofessional, condescending, sarcastic demeanor. He made excuses, blaming the location of the deck and the fact that we hadn’t called them to “maintain” the deck. When asked if he was the owner of Pro WoodCare, he hesitated, then rattled on about being there for 30-some years. I had to repeat the question to get a direct answer. He finally said no, he wasn't the owner, but had being there the longest. When this “inspection” was going nowhere, I asked him to please leave. He refused. He continued, in his arrogant manner, trying to convince me we were in the wrong for not having the deck maintained. I said, “ok, thank you” and asked him again to leave. He refused a second time and continued to repeat that we were neglectful and in the wrong. He asked "What are you looking for?" I said for "Pro WoodCare to commit to customer service and stand behind their products/work." He sarcastically replied, “What do you think-we’re going to redo your deck for nothing?” When I said, “Yes. We would expect Pro WoodCare to do something without cost to us to correct the poor work,” he literally laughed in my face, waving his hands and exhibiting obnoxious facial expressions and began to argue. I ignored his continued attempts to engage me in conversation. It took two more polite requests (total: 4x) for him to leave my property. At this point, I was ready to call the police. Poor quality materials aside, I would never recommend PWC due to this inexcusable, unprofessional behavior.

Pro WoodCare’s Workmanship Guarantee warranty states “We believe that Quality Workmanship is the key to our commitment to our customers.” It does not appear this includes products or customer service. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by a representative of a local business. Search around for alternates for your deck needs.

Had my wood deck sealed and stained for the first time. Tom was here every step of the way to ensure a job well done. The deck looks beautiful and I am truly pleased with the way it looks.

Pro Woodcare did an amazing job restoring my cedar pergola and wood patio furniture. I was especially impressed with the results or the furniture as it was rather faded and water damaged. Looks better than new! Service was a fraction of the cost of replacement

In recent years we've hired Pro Woodcare to clean and re-stain our cedar deck several times. Each time the work has been satisfactory, however this most recent job was not without issue.

The workers applied the stain on a windy day using sprayers vs. rollers or brushes. This resulted in stain overspray on everything nearby: siding, grill, patio furniture, annuals, perennials, herbs, stone stairs, and both concrete and lannon stone pavers. When I saw deck stain on the leaves of my herbs, I asked the worker to cover the planter before continuing. He did immediately and apologized, but he admitted that he thought the herbs were just flowers. This was disappointing and I later pruned out many of the damaged stems, but most disappointing of all were the several quarter-sized drops of deck stain on our concrete pavers, obvious overspray on our vinyl stairs, and even larger areas of stain on our lannon stone walk which appeared to have been spills.

We reported this concern to company VP, Tom Lefebvre, who quickly responded and came to our home. He clearly stated that this was not acceptable and promised to make it right. And he stood by his word!

He sent a crew to power wash the patio furniture, siding, vinyl staircase, pavers, and lannon stone. This method was insufficient to remove the stains so he returned again to apply another solution. Although the solution used for the second application was again insufficient to lift the stains, Tom was not deterred. He advised that he needed to approach the cleaning using conservative methods to ensure no additional damage to any of the various surfaces, but ultimately he applied a solution which totally removed the stains!

We greatly appreciate his cautious, methodical approach to lifting the deck stain. We are pleased and satisfied with his concern and response to our issue! We will continue to use Pro Woodcare in the future because we trust their commitment to delivering excellent service and professional restoration! We were very happy with our deck refinishing by Pro Woodcare! From the project manager to the crew, they were communicative and professional. Even returned days after the job was done to put back the furniture!

Our cedar roof went from black to a very nice brown and looks like new. They were so thorough and careful and spent a ton of time cleaning the sides of the house and around the house as well -- which was covered with dirt from the roof. Very disappointed with Tim(president) and Steve(foreman). I contacted several companies to restore my log home and ultimately chose ProWood Care. I specifically wanted corn-cob media because our property has a 30-acre lake that has fish and we use it to water our organic crops. We also have well water and a septic. I made it very clear many times and in our contract to use corn cob only (not glass) before our project started. My husband came home to find that glass media was used. Steve was notified and he said his boss would call us. Tim never called. We made our complaints known many times and no one responded. Our gutters were damaged. Our doors and windows were not taped off, my husband had to demand it be done. No one cared. Glass was everywhere inside our house, in our neighbors house and in the lake. The crews took breaks for hours at a time throughout the day and were drinking alcohol leisurely on the job. How many of those hours were we charged for?! Our complaints were never taken seriously. We finally received call backs from Tim when ProWood Care wanted the 2nd half of the payment which we were hesitant to pay immediately because our contract was breached and our concerns were never addressed. Instead Tim threatened us with a lien and openly refused to honor the very specific terms of our contract. This company is lacking professionalism and ultimately integrity.

Pro Woodcare has refinished my cedar deck for many years; usually have it done every other year. The deck is +30 years old and looks like new. It is large [450 square feet] and would be expensive to replace. Spreading the cost to refinish over two years is effective. They check the deck for damage and replaced a couple of boards a couple years ago. I am completely satisfied with the work they do; highly recommend them to deck owners.

Had our log home washed, resealed, caulked, Bee gone insecticide added and restained. They did a very good job, only minor complaint was they left a couple downspouts loose. Called them and adjusted the bill very satisfied. This is the second time using them, would use them again.

Pro Woodcare did cedar roof cleaning and sealing and repaired missing or damaged shingles. They were exceedingly professional and did an excellent job of making the process painless and provided an excellent clean-up.

Very satisfied with the work that was completed. All staff members were professional and courteous, offered suggestions, worked very hard to complete the project.

This is the second time we’ve had Pro Wood Care clean/stain our fence, front porch deck & rails. The first time we had to decide on stain. Tom is great to work with, brought us numerous samples to select from. We love what we went with and this year called them back. Jose, Chu & Jason are a great team, personable, easy to work with, updated us on their visits, attentive to detail, answered our questions adequately. Will definitely stay with this company.

We recently used Pro Woodcare for the second time. We were very happy with their service. They cleaned and treated the wood surfaces of our deck. We would not hesitate to use them again.

They have stained and sanded our deck twice now. They always send an accurate estimate and are very reliable. I think their professionalism is impressive and love the way the stained deck looks. Would definitely use again!

The crew that came out to do the pressure washing, moved the 4 door mats out of the way by throwing them into the adjacent perennial beds rather than leaving them on the brick walkway. They were so muddy they all had to be washed. When they disconnected the gas grill- they turned the ball valve of the hose to the on position and left it, luckily the coupling has a check valve or there would have been a gas leak. The hose that they used instead of being neatly coiled like they found it, was left a tangled heaping mess and partially hanging out of the hose pot.

If this sounds like it was too good to be true, it really was. No question who we will continue to entrust with the care of our log home and decks. No question.

I made the mistake of painting my deck, it was just awful. At first Tom told me he couldn't remove the paint and suggested I replace my deck boards (which were rotting from years of painting). After I replaced the deck boards, Pro WoodCare came out and has been staining them every since - 7 years now. Tom and his crew are always friendly, clean and professional.

Our deck was in rough shape, and we couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Very responsive and helpful.

Truck DT8945 on 8/28/2017 @ 4:09 pm hasnt set his phone down once. Swearving all over his lane locking up his brakes last second when braking in the rain. Honked at him twice. I am the passanger in a car behind him. If I could add video to this I would.

I'm not sure what this company actually does. I have a wood deck that needs work and I'm told they can't do anything. And when I asked for a name of somebody else I was told to call Menards and order wood? Could literally not be less helpful. Wasted my time.
