Preferred Construction will forever be my go to contractor. I had my primary bathroom remodeled 6 months ago by someone that clearly didn't have the proper skill and that resulted in water damage and poor craftsmanship that needed to be redone. This crew came in and redid everything CORRECTLY and it's absolutely stunning. They show up early, work a full day, stick to their contract, and are overall great guys. They went above and beyond and treated my home with nothing but care. Picking a company to do a large project can be overwhelming but they made the process easy! 10/10 recommend!

The team has replaced all the flooring, painted, built a custom pantry, build a wall to section off an office and closet along with minor repairs and installations. All of the work turned out amazing. They have also been quick to respond when adjustment’s needed to be made after installation. They have been our go to company. Highly recommend.

Everyone knows the worst part about getting work done is finding a competent vendor, especially if you have a smaller sized project. I'm so glad I found the jacks of all trades that's Preferred Constructions! I'm SO happy with the work they did on replacing our bathroom floor from the awful yellow to chic gray (tape under toilet is from us). They were punctual and prepared. They notice I had shoe molding on part of the bathroom, but not all of it so they went and got more shoe molding which wasn't something we decided on in advance so it was purely going above and beyond! The estimate process was quick and easy and charge VERY reasonable rates! Will be recommending them to everyone and using them again in the future!

We were so incredibly pleased with our experience. We used Preferred Construction for a flooring project. Our wood floors are so so beautiful! But most of all we are so thankful with how quickly Carlos got the ball rolling and his communication was always super quick and helpful. The pricing was also fair. Recently my boyfriend and I decided to move in together. While I had a fair amount of closets, they were not configured in a way that maximized the space. The doors in 3 closets were far too small and most of the volume of the closets was wasted. This was a high stress job for me for a lot of reasons.

Carlos and his crew worked around my home furnishings, covering and cleaning each day and then removing coverings when then left. They worked around my dog as well. The large closet had VERY large custom barn doors that they made themselves. Getting it all right was a heavy design job that is WAY beyond "handyman" work.

We had a couple small miscommunications (that was nobody's fault) and everything was made right *immediately*. My biggest fear was having things wrong and having to argue or fight for the perfect solution I wanted. We are both very happy w our new spaces and we even have space to spare!

I cannot stress enough how incredibly professional Carlos and his team were. You can always get in touch with them. We were living there during the construction, they were amazing. The end result was beautiful craftsmanship. I will be using Carlos and his team for any and all work I have going forward.

First things first: Carlos and his team are worth every penny. Carlos will be the first to tell you that he is not cheapest, and that is true. But it's also true that I went with another cheaper contractor and it was a disaster. Carlos ended up fixing half the stuff that was wrong.

Another reality is that if you are doing work you are likely not a professional and sometimes describing what you want is hard and you will need feedback from your contractor. Carlos is excellent at this and did 2 walkthroughs at my place before they started work. He was communicative on schedule and I had pricing before the job started. Because I am not a pro I added scope to the job twice, mid work. I did not notice any disruption.

It is also possible that not everything will be *exactly* how you want it. The difference between most contractors is that Carlos sent his crew back *the next day* to correct the small error. Things are going to happen. You want someone that will recover and make it right. That is Preferred Construction.

The work performed was fixing water damaged floor, fixing poorly done baseboards, painting ceilings, exterior door painting, and door installation.

Carlos answered my call when other contractors would not. He came out the same day. Actually 30 minutes after we spoke on the phone. He gave a fair and reasonable estimate the same day. He and his team stayed in contact with me and completed the work the next week.

We had a great experience with Carlos and Preferred Construction for our new deck. He was very knowledgeable of county code and the price was exactly what we anticipated. We went with a Trex product for low maintenance. We completely replaced our old sad deck with a new larger multi-level deck. Carlos always communicated clearly so we knew what to expect for when work would start, when inspection was happening and when they would be finished. He worked with us around some drainage issues for the lower deck and the price did not change. I highly recommend him for your home remodel projects! He and his company are local to Fredericksburg. We would definitely use him and his crew again!

This company is amazing! Carlos and his team were professional, responsible, kind and hardworking the entire time they were doing work for us. We replaced our entire main level of flooring (our hot water heater leaked) and had to replace some drywall and paint in some places because of the damage. We also updated our half bath on the main floor(New vanity, toilet and flooring) and created a large beautiful pantry (we only had a tiny one before.) We replaced our old sliding back door with French doors, expanded our doorways (took out old trim and old hardware) and gutted/ replaced our entire master bath (vanity, flooring, toilet, shower, shelves, fixtures and paint.) Carlos listened to what we wanted and made sure the team executed our desires in their amazing work. We are so happy with the finished product and I have already recommended this company to others. We also look forward to working with Carlos and his team again in the future with other home remodeling needs!

We had some water damage in our home due to a bathroom leak. The whole team did a great job and worked really hard to get our home back into working order. They redid our shower, laundry room and completely redid our half bath. They did a fantastic job and always asked questions to ensure it was exactly we wanted and gave us recommendations to get the best outcome. We love the finished job; very polite, and cleaned up everyday. Definitely will be using them in the future for our home remodeling jobs.

Carlos and his team recently replaced the exterior shutters on the second story of my home. While this was not a large job I appreciated the fact that Carlos was willing to do the job for us!
