Powell's Roofing & Siding

I've been using Powell's Roofing & Siding for roughly 10 years now. They not only do great work but are always very clean and neat (cleaning up debris outside and wearing shoe covering inside). Also, Gary (the owner) is easily available and extremely trustworthy, which can be hard to come by these days. He's even been on-site for larger projects to make sure the work was being performed as planned. I highly recommend them!

I have used the services of Powell Roofing for over 15 years, inclusive of having the full roof replaced, gutters installed and having gutter protection system installed (8/2022). Commitment to delivering quality work from start to finish, explaining clearly and with patience the work to be done, treating the customer with care and respect, and providing an honest estimate have always been consistent every time I had work done by Powell Roofing. Gary Powell’s commitment to this ethic is also present in his staff members, who represent the same values. Trust in a business is among one of the most important factors when choosing someone to work on your home and this is the case with Gary Powell, my trust in his work as never been broken.

We have been using Powell's Roofing for many years which includes a major repair after Superstorm Sandy. He just completed replacing our roof, couldn't be happier. He kept to his timeline and the communication was great. When we thought we had an issue during the install, he got back to us within the hour! He's replaced both my mom's and brother's roofs at well. We continue to recommend Gary to anyone with any type of roofing need.

A big shout out to the crew at Powell's, especially Alex and Ariel. They were here for a partial roof replacement, but additional damage was found, and the job turned out to be more complex than anticipated. They quickly diagnosed the issues and came up with a solution to fix. Everything was done quickly and professionally.

A very professional company that performs great quality work. My new roof looks great. I will be sure to recommend Powell's Roofing to everyone I know. They were on schedule which was very important to me since I had painters scheduled right after my roof was installed. Thank you Gary and thank you to your wonderful crew.

Quality of new roof and attention to details was top notch. They did everything by the book and quickly fixed one issue that I brought up. Would use them again. Love the shiny copper flashing!

2nd Update: Two separate groups worked on my repair. The siding group came in the morning and finished their repair but left dirty smudges on the siding which is hard to reach and clean as it is on the 2nd floor. The gutter group was to come in the afternoon. I emailed Gary at 2:45 PM with no response. As it was 4PM I called the office and Gary answered and stated they will be here at 5 PM or he will call me to let me know that they will not be able to make it that day. Called Gary at 5:30 PM and no one answered the phone. Gary did call at 6 PM. At this point it makes me wonder how reliable is this company and if choosing this company was a mistake. The gutter guys came the next morning but my issue is after they completed the work. What a mess. No cleanup. Screws and brackets over the work area and wet corking on the ground which I almost stepped on. The screws lying around are dangerous if you have pets who can eat them. Also, they left a bottle of water on my driveway.

Being generous and giving them 3 stars as the work was completed. However, the lack of responsiveness, leaving dirt/grease smears on the siding which could have been easily cleaned by the worker and debris over the worksite that was never cleaned up lowered their rating. They did the work but you will have to be on top of them. Usually, the owner or project manager would come back to review the completed work to make sure all looks good but no one reviewed the work or called.

UPDATE: Appreciated the office calling to explain the mix up. Gary came over within a few hours to review and explain the work that needed to be done. He was very helpful and we have decided to use his services. Will provide an update of how well it went when the time comes.

Emailed them for a quote on repairing siding and replacing gutter. Received an email response asking for a picture of what needed to be worked on. Never had that requested on me before from any contractor. I sent them the picture but did not receive a response. Emailed them again and asked that if it is not worth their time to let me know out of courtesy. No response. Would not recommend them. How can I trust a company that does not respond back after a couple of request. Very unprofessional.

These folks were excellent. I was actually able to get someone on the phone, first of all, when I first called. I thought that other places weren't returning my phone calls because maybe they thought my job was too small. Customer service explained their process and sent an appointment reminder. The gentlemen who came to assess the repair gave me options and was honest about the work involved. For one area, he gave me advice for a simple fix that I could do myself rather than the complex work that would have been done which wouldn't have solved the problem anyway. When I agreed to the contract by email, they were here in the next hour to start the work and they wrapped up in a couple of hours. They got here so fast, I had to confirm that they were from Powell's, thinking they were just other contractors asking if we needed any work done. Payment was then able to be made online. Great work!

I was very happy with Powell’s as they replaced my vinyl shutters. They were cost competitive, quickly responded to my inquiries, and were very neat during the job. I’d recommend them for sure.

Just finished repairs and serious carpentry work in our house with Powell's roofing and can’t say enough of praise to Gary and his highly professional team of workers for the whole handling of our project! From the beginning Gary was very upfront with us about when his team will be available to start their work. It is very hard to find a reliable company ready to handle more than just basic roofing repairs and Powell’s Roofing did it all! Now our roof looks great again and most likely it is even better than when it was new!

Very honest and prompt. I had several leaks in my roof, after a brand new roof was put in. I had several quotes all of them telling me I needed to replace the new roof. Gary (Powell's Roofing) told me where the leaks were and fixed only that area for a much lower price than I had been quoted.

Powell's Roofing removed my old leaders, gutters, and Gutter Helmets, and replaced them all, installing Gutter Pro-Tech cover system. The work was done in a very professional manner, looks great, and functioned well during a "christening" downpour the evening after they finished the job. They left our property spotless, and didn't disturb a single planting along the front of our home. Having had experiences with other roofing contracts over the quarter century we've been here, I would recommend Powell's Roofing to anyone looking for a good roofer.

Powell's has done siding, roofing work and gutter cleaning work for me and they were great. Gary is friendly and professional, as is his crew. Most important, Gary is trustworthy: for some of the work I asked about having done, he advised that not disturbing the roof was the best option (even though that meant less work and money for him).

We would highly recommend Powell's Roofing. Gary was very quick to come out to give us an estimate on our roof, also he was very knowledgeable and friendly. The work was done quickly and efficiently, and the clean up was great also. Best of all, the night after the work was done , we had a severe rain storm and no LEAKS!! We also had them replace five sky lights and no LEAKS there either. Best roofing company ever!

We had this company clean our gutters and install a vent on our roof for a bathroom fan. Although the vent installation appears to be without issue, the same cannot be said for the gutters. They damaged the gutter by resting the ladder on it and we still have a plugged down spout. I’ve contacted Gary multiple times and he has not returned my calls. I won’t be using this company again and I would not recommend them.

In response to your post:

I called you multiple times. You answered once and told me to call the office, which I did. You did not follow up to repair the damage you did nor did you come back out to unplug the downspout - which was never properly cleaned in the first place. The time it took you to post a response could have been spent by addressing the poor service provided. Bottom line here is we won’t be using your company again nor will we recommend you - and I hope others read this and think twice.

A rapid response to a roof leak, led to a 2 day tear away shingles, shakes, re-ply and roof with precision and efficacy. My 3rd job given to Gary, and the team is a great one. Always know as well that no micro-inspection is needed because if I ever find anything wrong it is a quick phone call, and rapid response as well. Happy Holidays to the guys.

Gary Powell and his team did a phenomenal job replacing the roof on our 1735 historic museum and 1900 general store. The beautiful cedar shakes were custom cut and installed individually. The work ethic of his crew was amazing. I will be recommending him to other historic sites in Union County.

i had Powell's Roofing do my roof and Gutters. all of his workers were very cooperative. they did a great job and the clean up was great. i would highly recommend Gary's company to do anyones roof. Also Gary is very reliable. When you meet with him, he explains everything in detail and he is very concerned on how his workers perform on the job. it is very important to have that concern.

Powell's Roofing in a quick sentence was excellent. While is price is not the lowest, it made up for it in the quality of the work, the responsiveness of Gary and his team as well as the good back and forth on issues as they came up during the project. I had a 20 year old roof with some unusual structural characteristics. We met and formulated a plan together on how to fully replace the roof in such a way that it would tackle all of the issues and keep the costs within reason. Some issues did come up related to those unusual characteristics and Gary kept me informed of any added costs as they came up. His crew also did a great job on gutters, fascia repairs as well as soffits.

Got a call back within 30 minutes to schedule the estimate, and in addition, Gary, the owner, showed up during the promised time period. Showed total professionalism during all phases of talking with him or his company.

We first hired Powell's Roofing in 2012 to do the cedar siding and roof of our new addition. With cedar siding being so time consuming and not so commonly used anymore, we had a difficult time finding a company who wanted to install it. Gary, the owner, not only was happy to take on the job, he offered the most reasonable price in town, and worked tediously and efficiently to do the job to perfection. We were so happy with the outcome, we called just recently to have them install 10 replacement windows in our home. They managed to complete the whole job in a day, and left the inside, as well as the outside of our home spotless from debris. We currently have blueprints for a 2nd story, bathroom addition, and with so many other decisions to be made, it's comforting to know that I have a reliable company to do the windows, siding, and roofing. I would highly recommend Powell Roofing to anyone, as they are perfectionists at their craft and are a pleasure to work with.
