Gikas just finished a full exterior painting of our 1910 home. George came out for the quote and was extremely knowledgeable. The price was about in line with other quotes we received but I was sold by the expertise George brought. Our project manager, Alex kept the whole project on track and was communicative and helpful. My home has wooden shingles and had not been fully painted in about 10 years. The back of the house was peeling and had paint chips all over. Gikas team sanded and replaced rotted shingles. It looks like a new home. Am very happy with the service and price!!

Gikas and supervisor Alex recently completed painting the exterior of my home in Glen Ridge. The entire experience was 5 star. Painter Luis is amazing, he takes his time to assure everything is done right. Alex is there on a daily basis to monitor process and ask if there is anything that needs special attention. I can not believe what amazing workers those guys are. They were so particular and precise I have to give a shout out to Walter the carpenter, beautiful Carpentry. The solo painter was unbelievably professional (never knew his name). The whole crew cleaned up at at the end of each day.

Very good experience with Gikas. Reasonably priced, very cutrious - workmen were very polite, quiet - project leader Alex was very nice, communicated well, listened to concerns and was truthful about what he thought would work or not. Overall quality of the work was excellent, and our house looks great!

We had Alex and his crew demo and drywall a bedroom ceiling, paint the walls and do some ceiling and trim work in our kitchen.
The crew was fantastic, they were polite, friendly and extremely talented.

Demoing a plaster ceiling is messy work and they did their best to keep the dust and debris from spreading all over the house. Every day they put up plastic and covered our stairs with a drop cloth. The kitchen ceiling needed paint and plaster patching. Mike was meticulous with his prep work and putting up plastic to keep the dust from getting out.

The Bedroom is looking great, all back in order with a great coat of paint. The real improvement was in our kitchen where a previous contractor had done some mediocre ceiling and trim work. Mike quietly worked his magic, the trim looks perfect and the ceiling is patched and painted, even better than new.

Alex checked in with us every day and in 3 short days they were done and have moved on! I think their prices are on par with the quality work they provide and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Gikas Painting & Contracting is a rare company. I'd even go so far as to call them unusual in this day and age: they combine the highest quality work with the most amazing customer service. I had just returned to my home after living abroad for almost a decade, and a home inspector I hired told me I needed a new roof and a new paint job. I called Gikas -- because I have known the company and their excellent reputation for years. George came right away, and he reassured me that the roof would be good for another 10 to 15 years and the paint job probably another 5 years. (Imagine a company telling you that you DON'T need to hire them right away for major work? I was so relieved I wanted to hug him.) Still I decided to have the front porch painted and the porch ceiling/roof checked out. (For a very fair price.) It was surely a small project for them, but they treated it as if I had asked them to renovate Notre Dame cathedral. Immediately, Alex, the project manager, was on the job looking to set up a start date right away and also coordinating with the Gikas roofing guy (sorry I forgot his name) to investigate an issue with the porch ceiling. (Imagine a company practically nudging you to start the work rather than ghosting you or giving you some vague start date depending on their schedule?) This guy Alex is amazing: organized, efficient, responsive, attentive. (Gikas, you don't pay him enough!) He was on site every day and coordinated well with the paint crew, who were also excellent: highly skilled, tidy, and friendly. Needless to say, I was super pleased with the work they did. A final note about customer service. Alex told me they would return a few days after the job was finished (so the paint on the floor could cure) and put the porch furniture back on the porch. (Honestly, I wasn't sure whether to believe they would really return.) Sure enough, they came back and brought all the porch furniture back onto the porch and arranged everything nicely AFTER I had already paid. (Imagine a company following through after they have been paid in full?) And when I mentioned to Alex in a text a few days after that that an ancient coil spring on the screen door seemed to have been broken, he personally came back to see about it. In sum, if you imagine working with contractors who are honest, professional, excellent at what they do, and peerless in customer service, look no further than Gikas Painting & Contracting. A rare gem of a company. (Final shout-out to Peggy in the office. She, too, is efficient and responsive and answers every question with grace and a great sense of humor.)

What an amazing experience working with Gikas on renovating our kitchen, and more specifically our project manager Manny! Being that this was our first home renovation, we naturally had a lot of questions and needed some guidance. Manny was always available for a text or a call for any questions or advice. We had a hard finish timeline that we communicated to Manny, and even with some delivery delays, he kept true to his word and got it done when he said he would. His crew was here right on time every single morning, they were respectful and always cleaned up after themselves. We hired Gikas to replace our damaged roof. They were total professionals, and the work they did was top notch. The new roof is beautiful. The attention to detail was excellent, as illustrated by their cleanup. Anyone who has lived through a roof replacement knows the mess made on the ground - nails, shingles, tarpaper, etc. Almost a month after they finished and we have yet to see a single missed nail anywhere around the house. I'd recommend them to anyone!

Alex and team did a great job. The company provided a few different services for this job: exterior painting, add new railing to front and new downspouts that had become damaged over the years. We have worked with Gikas for years and have always been extremely happy with the results and the experience every step of the way. They renovated our front porch and it turned out even better than my original vision. The latest major project was an exterior paint of the house which required sanding down to bare wood and replacing many wood boards. It took weeks and the end result is gorgeous.They helped us with understanding paint colors and were very patient with all of our questions. One of the best parts of working with Gikas in my opinion is having Alex on hand to troubleshoot and problem solve. He is such a pleasure to work with and a gives me peace of mind knowing if we are not happy he will work to find a resolution. Another important component of any renovation is the crew that is at your house. I have to say I have always been pleased with the professionalism, knowledge and courtesy of the Gikas crew. They clean up every day and treat our property very well. That may sounds like a given but we have had some horrible experiences with other companies and not felt comfortable with who was here. Living in an older home you will inevitably come upon "surprises" and not the good kind when doing a home renovation project. We have found Gikas to be excellent at pivoting and working with us to explain what they have found and what our options are moving forward.

I recently hired Alex and his team to power wash, sand and stain my large wooden deck, and I couldn't be more pleased with their service. Alex was very punctual and excellent with communications throughout the entire process. The painters arrived on time every day and carefully removed all my furniture from the deck before starting their work. They power washed and painted the deck over the course of the week with great attention to detail. Alex regularly checked in to ensure everything was progressing according to plan. Even after the project was completed, I discovered some minor issues, and they promptly came back to fix them without any hassle. I highly recommend Alex and his team for their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction.

We are completely impressed with the high-quality work of the Gikas team. Our Montclair home was in serious need of painting, along with needing the multiple exterior carpentry fixes that present themselves over the years. And our color plan included 8 different shades of several colors! When George came to walk the property to gather info for the estimate, my husband noted that he was only one of the several people from whom we solicited estimates to not take a single note, and yet when we got our estimate in about 5 days, it was highly specific and detailed and George actually had "found" things we had missed! And even after that, as the job progressed (with no added charge), they fixed more and replaced more shingles than we anticipated. Alex was our project manager and was highly responsive to any text/call. He also made himself available at a time convenient for the designer we were using to talk paint finishes. The crew was there by around 8am, 6 days a week. They seemed to have good relationships with each other and I would credit Alex as when he came by, inspecting and advising, there were always smiles. I'm sensitive to how "bosses" treat "workers" and I never had any stress in that category. Every day as they left the property as cleared up as possible. And, of course to note the most important thing....the results. The workmanship is A+ in our opinion. If any of you are considering Gikas, I'm glad for the office to release our address for you to check things out for yourself. And the "window on the chimney" has never looked better, Alex!

George gave us the estimate for exterior house painting and repairs after telling us we didn't need complete painting job only a refresh. The Gikas Painting Co., worked diligently on our kitchen refinishing/updating project. The Supervisor (Alex) and his painting crew were very atune to the details in refinishing 30+ year old cabinets. They worked both onsite and in their paint shop to complete the priming and painting of the cabinets. Gikas did a great job painting our home in Montclair in May. Very competitive pricing, and work done as scheduled. Unlike some home contractor experiences, they started the day they said they would, and kept a steady crew on-site every day until the job was completely finished. No delay even in handling punch list items. All workers were professional and hard-working, and Alex the supervisor was available for any and all questions and making sure the job was to my satisfaction.

We just had Gikas paint our house. They did a beautiful, neat job. It was done promptly, especially considering the weather this spring. The workers were pleasant and easy to have around . I coordinated the work and arrangements with Alex and he was great to work with. This is the second time they have done our house and I strongly recommend them.

We have owned in Montclair since 2006 and had our house painted three times since then, once by one of the other names you see on yard signs around town and twice by Gikas. As that suggests, we were happy with Gikas the first time, but they really upped their game this time around (spring 2024). The carpentry work (deck, shingle, and porch-railing repairs here and there) was much finer and the paint crew led by Denis did absolutely A+ work on their end. My house is 123 years old and I sought recommendations from neighbors and contractors to identify a company with carpenters and painters who know how to treat the nooks and crannies of an old house. Not every contractor knows how to do this. So I chose Gikas Painting & Contracting.

Alex kept to the budget and the schedule. Punchlist items were handled with dispatch. I have no complaints -- only praise.

SNAPSHOT REVIEW
We just did three projects with Gikas and I highly recommend them. Working with them was easy, the prices were great, and the customer service was second to none. Jorge simply knocked on door one day and our house is looking better than ever because of it! Jorge informed us of some wind damage to our roof and some fallen shingles and explained that Gikas could help us use our home owners insurance to help pay for a new roof (we were already shopping around for contractors for that project). Thanks to Gikas, we were able to get a new roof for the house and saved thousands as a result. Thank you Jorge!

GUTTERS
Brand new gutters were installed easily and look great.

EXTERIOR PAINTING
Once the roof and gutters were done, we moved onto painting. Alex and his team completely rejuvenated the exterior of our house. The finished job was perfect as can be and the entire project was smooth sailing from the very beginning. Anytime we needed to know something, Alex was quick to answer and help out if needed.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the work that Gikas provided for my home. George is very knowledgeable about older homes such as mine and upon review of my home made several recommendations . My project was basically a restoration of my nearly 100 year old home- new roof, and gutters. new back deck off my screen porch , new window boxes, restoration of my garage and new paint. George was helpful with my roof and gutter selection and I’m so happy I went with the Owens Corning Duration line. Alex was very helpful and professional and listened to my needs.He made several suggestions regarding the colors for the house and in the end I am very pleased. As seen in some of the before after photos, my house went through quite a transformation! I’m still getting people stopping by to ask who did my project!

The exterior of my house was really in need to be painted. George was the only one to get back to me and came over to do a survey and provide an estimate. The price was about what I expected and I hired Gikas to do the job. In less than a month my house now looks 100 percent better. The guys were efficient and even worked on Labor Day. The project manager Alex stopped over every day to make sure things were going the way they were supposed to. He would always answer any questions that I had. Overall, great experience with Gikas painting! Had contracted them out to paint our home and noticed some trouble spots (peeling) after about a year. Not only did they honor their warranty, but the service was the same great experience from the first time around. Make sure to ask for Alex, he knew exactly what needed to be done and was extremely responsive and professional through each interaction. Big credit goes out to the crew as well, they did an amazing job and always leave the job site clean.

Gikas provided Outside House repairs on woodwork and Stucco and painting of both the house and garage. The work was completed in a timely manner.
