Norfolk Iron & Metal

Delivered to Norfolk steel and metal. Was there on time. The people were really friendly. But I waited 7 hours to get unloaded. Talked to other Trucking friends they said Norfolk steel and metal is the worst place to deliver or pick up from at any of their locations. I won't be picking up or delivering for them ever again. Time is money in the trucking industry.

Deliveries. It doesn't matter the order you show up. What matters is who's at the check in office first. Also, you can park overnight on road. Its usual full by 9pm. Check in is at 7 but you'll see at least 1 driver waiting to check in at 6 am.
When you pull around back you'll sit in line. There will be 15-20 trucks looking to hook up to their trailers but... you guessed it we're all lined up in front of the trailers.

First time to unload at this place. Arrive at 11:00 a.m. and empty at 1:00p.m. 2 hour unload and 30 minutes of that was for their lunch. When I got there, I was third in line to unload. I hear this is a hit or miss time line depending on their work load but today all went quick. All the staff was friendly and welcoming. One star off because knowing this place is in windy Kansas it needs a wind block area for untarping. That wind is going to get someone hurt. All in all a good experience. Keep up the good work.

Another company/location Im getting strong sense of disrespect from. “Bathrooms and breakrooms off limits to drivers until further notice” I get that theres a pandemic going on but theres other options (which plenty of places are using) besides openly forsaking drivers, using covid19 as an excuse. Why not just hold up a sign saying “give us our s h i t, and gtfo”.

Not to mention they were a little slow even though theres a half dozen people working in the receiving area

Slow as molasses up a hill in winter. 4.5 hrs to load a flatbed, they load it their way not how driver wants it. Two tier load of steel bar, they load the small bar in between the larger bar, no matter how you chain it, the small bar is not really secured. Lot that drivers tarp in is a mud hole, bring your wader boots. Overall, I will not take another load from here.

Unloading pretty fast. Also take your tarps out on the street if you don’t want them dusty

The only reason they are getting a star is because I don't have a choice. I have been here for over 3 hours still haven't touched my load. The workers walk so slow you would think they are zombies. Robbing a paycheck. They seem to like to text and stand around and talk and look at each other rather than unload a truck. Truck driver's have other places to be. We get paid for driving not for sitting. This a major problem with you big companies you think it's okay to make drivers sit for a long period of time and not pay them for it. All trucks have elogs now. Our time counts down when we are sitting. 3 1/2 hours and now it's break time. We are under another load but we might lose that one. This place will be on the list of not returning to. Bay 8 had 4 trucks in and out before I got into bay 7. When I did go in they were bringing there 5th truck in. I was the 3rd truck in line. 4 hours in and the first bundle is finally being taken off. Almost 5 hours to get unloaded at this place today. Drivers need to start taking a stand and boycott these places until they can get it together. They have absolutely no respect for any driver by making them sit for 5 hours.

I hope this place will shutdown ASAP

These...I don't know how to call them,need 2 hours to unload one truck and they start with receving after 11 because until 11 AM they load their truck which was company's priority.
So try always to avoid this horible place or if you take a load for here,ask for double or at least double price because nobody made a delivery and a pick up in same day if the delivery was at this S_IT company
