James and his amazing crew at Mountain Man Construction recently renovated our old garage, into a beautiful guest house. Over several months, everything was seamlessly orchestrated, from demolition, to concrete, to carpentry, to electrical, all without overlap or delay. James is super knowledgable and was able to contract the best tradesmen for the job. To our design, James offered numerous touches, including under-seat storage, floating shelves, and kitchenette drawers, all built at their offsite workshop. As a contractor, James is the best! He’s a great communicator, guiding us through all expectations, issues and decisions. He’s also very fair, and his workers are some of the best we’ve encountered; very polite, highly skilled, and hard-working. We would whole-heartedly recommend James and Mountain Man Construction to anyone embarking on a building project.

After waiting a full year for just an estimate from our first contractor, we were referred by a friend to Mountain Man. James returned my first inquiry within a day, we had an estimate for replacing our screened porch within the week, and an expertly completed project two months later! Communication was clear and timely, crew was courteous and highly skilled, costs were fair and well worth the value of the job. We contracted built-in cabinets for our living room to hide our tower speakers, rear speakers, and subwoofer along with improving the look and storage in the room. This included pipes in the wall for running wires from the back of the TV into the cabinets. We have great sound from the speakers from their enclosures and are satisfied with the look of wall to wall floating shelves and metal mesh cabinets, so the project checked all of our boxes.

They fabricate cabinets off-site. This job took about three weeks once started in the house, with about a week of that for painting and another week for all the finishing touches including professional cleaning. They are thorough and respond well to instruction if you know what you are asking for. If you don't know exactly what you want, they have good creative and problem solving skills to get the end product functional and good looking.
The initial quote was all-inclusive and close to our final cost, so I would say that you can trust to be within 10% of what you are quoted, knowing that you can incur extra cost if you wish to expand the scope of the project.

There are many small details that were not skipped over, like putting additional outlets into cabinets, quality hinges, and magnetic covers on the rear speaker boxes, so I don't think there is much, if anything, we would change if we had to start over. That is a high compliment for a custom job.

We are no strangers to renovations and have had a few problems in the past. Renovations are never easy but I have to say with Mountain Men the process was much easier. James is a great communicator and his contractors are hard working men that take pride in their work. We had a screened porch 16x24 added to our home and we love it; we quickly moved to a bathroom reno once the porch was done. I think if you're looking for a dependable, professional contractor, I would choose Mountain Men. I had 3 or 4 quotes and Mountain Men came in lower than my other quotes; I would certainly do business with this contractor again.

James and the whole team were great from start to finish.  Everything from the craftsmanship, professionalism, communication, collaboration, and more.  We couldn't have done the work in our 1915 house without them.  Looking forward to working with the team in the future.

We hired them to replace an old deck with a covered, screened in deck and in the process, found some rot under our front door which they added to the list and handled seamlessly. The quality of the construction and little details is excellent. James kept us in the loop at all times, the project moved along at pace and any delays were explained and updated. we would recommend them unreservedly.

James and his team recently rebuilt the wrap-around porch on my 1927 home. They did an excellent job, clearly identifying issues with the existing structure and making recommendations for ensuring the porch was up to code and structurally sound. They completed the job on time, and each day cleaned up the work site. They were always on time, and professional. I would use them again for any future projects!

James and his team did an absolutely phenomenal job on our upstairs two bedroom addition and bathroom renovation. The project was very challenging given his team would have to skillfully take off half the roof, reconfigure the new roofline, structurally reinforce the floor below and get it dried-in ASAP to avoid exposing the house to the elements for an extended period of time. His team was tireless and covered/protected the house and checked on it constantly....because of their efforts, we had absolutely zero water intrusion during that time period (in March no less). We also threw a lot of changes and requests at James and his team mid-construction and they were very responsive and gave great advise when we had questions/concerns. They finished AHEAD of schedule even after adding a ton of scope from the original addition/renovation. The finished product is high quality and we just couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. We highly recommend Mountain Man for any and all future projects!

James and his team did two large projects for us. He renovated a master bath at our previous house. We liked his work so much that we hired him to build a screen porch at our newly purchased house. On both occasions we were more than satisfied with the quality of the work. Also both projects were done at a very reasonable price. His crew is hardworking, polite and respectful and James is typically on the scene directly supervising the work. We would highly recommend Mountain Man Construction for your next project.

MMC added 600 square feet to the front of our home (foyer, dining room and bedroom) and got it to match! They found the original brickmason and original brick pattern, and found a way to match our existing windows as well. MMC also moved walls to improve flow, added a new bathroom, renovated another bathroom, moved our laundry, and created functional and beautiful built-ins; and it was done so seamlessly that our guests can't tell what is old and what is new.
They are creative, flexible, friendly, polite, and competitively priced with the other high-quality builders in the area. I would recommend them for any project, small or large.
We went approximately 15% over estimated cost, but we did make changes to the scope along the way. We were able to move in within about a week of our target date.

James and his crew did wonderful work! They were professional, responsive and detail oriented. I had custom bookshelves and cabinets built for my home (among a few other projects) and they turned out beautifully. I will use Mountain Man again!

James and Mike skillfully built an 1100sqft addition onto our 1924 craftsman home, including adding a bathroom, large retaining wall and patio, and a kitchen renovation. They seamlessly integrated the new house with the old, were always positive, prompt in returning communication and took our concerns seriously. Mike did great work in matching all the trim and casings and building a custom island. Original budget was fairly accurate, additions to scope and unforeseen issues ran us over a bit (~8%). Had a few delays with weather and personal issues for us, but in a 7 month project, only ran 3 weeks late. James was honest and upfront on all issues arising. We would do the project with MMC again!

We are so very pleased with our screened porch and fire pit addition. James’ creative vision resulted in a beautiful addition to our home. We liked the work James and his guys did for us so much last fall that we hired them again to remove two interior walls between our kitchen, den and dining room. Once again they did an amazing job! They did a fabulous job repairing the foundation of our house so we could sell it! They also were very reasonable with pricing especially given the labor-intensive work.

James and the crew helped with creative and practical ideas and the final result was a solidly crafted, safe, and fun structure. The kids love playing on it and it makes for a romantic dinner setting, too.

He and his crew came out did the job as agreed, professionally, personable, and with a genuine friendly manner towards me and my client. To add to that I later ended up having another situation which he was able to point me in the direction of a good company to take care of it since their crews were working in another city and couldn't service it in the time frame we needed. We were so pleased with their work, we hired them to completely renovate our master bath and add a new three and 1/2 stall garage with a bedroom and full bath upstairs.
