Modernize IT LLC

So many good things to say about these guys. Most if which you can see reiterated through all of the other reviews here. My personal experience was great. Prior to finding "Modernize It," I had reached out to some other contractors I found online through searches. (most all were not enjoyable). But then I came across Modernize It, and boy what a relief. What initially stood out was all their online reviews and vast amounts of before and after photos of their jobs. I reached out online and Josh got back to me quick and was already more than happy to answer any and all of my questions right off the bat. He is very friendly and personable in his calls, texts and emails. (which stood out from other contractors I was dealing with).

Josh arranged a time he could come by and see my house and existing deck. I had an 20yr old deck that was poorly constructed by the previous owner and was falling apart, as well as not up to code. Josh walked around with me, answered all my questions, discussed all my ideas, and gave me all his ideas and possibilities I could consider. The whole time he was up front with the costs of the different ideas and helped me understand areas where could try to save some money and other areas that would be more "bang for the buck," or possibly things I could do in the future. It was a great initial meet up and Q+A session.

A short time later I got my first quote from Josh and was delighted again to see a very detailed quote, itemizing each piece of material, down to the nail and screw, all showing a detailed price for everything and and breakout of the cost for labor and disposal. This was amazing, given the fact that all of my previous quotes from other contractors had zero detail or explanation of cost (like they are trying to hide it from you). And not only that, Josh's quote was a better price than all the others I had gotten previously.

Fast forward a few weeks, Josh and I had worked together for a complete set of options, ideas and plans for the build. His team showed up on time and got right to work. The whole team of about 4-6 guys was there for the week. Also note that it was freezing cold in the middle of February. These guys are troopers. They were always polite and friendly. They would pet my dog, say hello to my family members etc. Any time there was a question on their end they would Matthew would politely knock on the door and ask if my wife and I had a moment to discuss. The whole team a pleasure to work with.

These guys are also more than just deck builders. During our process we came across some issues with my house. There was rot in the wall that needed to be addressed and some other structural issues from the age of my home. Again the team helped me work through it gave me different options for deciding what I could comfortably afford. Given the fact that I had some sections of wall that were going to need to be replaced, I asked if they could replace the old windows and sliding door as well. They were happy to do so and got right to ordering the extra material so they could fit it all in within the timeline of the ongoing deck build.

Fast forward to the end of the week and everything was complete. My old deck was gone, my new deck was complete with every little detail and modification that I had asked for. My previous deck was a ugly mess and a hazard to be on. My new deck is beautiful and now the focal point for my family and friends.

I feel very lucky to have come across this company. Josh, Matthew and the crew are fantastic. If you are starting to think about building/replacing a deck. Don't hesitate to reach out to these guys. As all the reviews here, and all their posted job photos show, these guys do great work, and a great price, with nothing but friendly service.

We started out with just an idea and found Joshua and his team from TimberTech’s website! Our backyard had no space to entertain but with our irrigation system we couldn’t do a in ground patio. Joshua actually came out to see the space and show us the material options in person. We also had an eyesore of a DIY porch that we were wanting to be taken down and Joshua said no problem! He sent over the quote within a day and we knew he was the right guy for the job. They installed our deck with expertise and took down the ugly porch. They also were able to make a trap door for us to keep access to our valve system in the deck! We are so in love with our final result and are looking forward to enjoying the summer outdoors! We’re planning on re doing the stairs and lattice work with Modernize IT sometime next year. This experience has made us loyal Modernize It clientele and would recommend them to anyone!

I have to give a HUGE shoutout and THANK YOU to Josh and his team at Modernize It LLC for building me a beautiful new deck in less than two days! My house is about 7 years old, and I bought it last last summer. The original builder's grade deck was tiny, falling apart, and had to go, so upgrading it was a top priority this year. After getting multiple quotes, my gut told me to go with Josh.

Price is always a factor, but it wasn't the main driver for me. What mattered most was the big picture when it comes to hiring someone for such a major expense. He came with samples so I could see/feel the decking options and colors, he was very professional and walked me through what to expect, he followed up when he said he would, stuck to the timeline he gave me, and the price was super competitive since I had them do it so early in the season. He applied for and received the permit pretty quickly, got started with his large crew first thing yesterday morning, and they were done by 1PM today. I now have a deck that's more than double the size it was, and it came out exactly how I wanted - I really couldn't be happier!

There are many very talented deck pros out there, but Josh and his team stood out and will always get my business when needs arise. Long story short, we needed a crew to remove our existing deck this spring so that a failing sewer line could be replaced below it.
After waiting for other contractors to offer quotes, we finally found Josh and his team at Modernize It. They offered a very reasonable price for the demolition, and they arrived to do the work within a couple of days because they knew how much we needed speed to get the plumbing work completed. They took the deck down in one morning with not one bit of evidence that they'd been working on the property - everything was perfectly clean.
When it was time for the rebuild, we didn't hesitate to contact Josh for a second quote. We were shown various styles and materials to choose from, and even received a digital mock-up of what our new deck would look like. The cost quoted was fair, and Josh and his crew completed the construction of a 14x16 ft deck in two days in early June - a full week earlier than we'd anticipated from the initial scheduling. We are so pleased with the end result, and we were also very happy with Josh's professionalism and good communication throughout the process. We are already planning to hire him again to rebuild our front steps in a similar style this fall/winter. Great company to work with!

Moderize IT LLC just completed our deck and we could not be happier. Which received quotes from multiple contractors and their price was very reasonable and we also received professional renderings of what the product would look like. Josh did an outstanding job explaining the various material options and worked with us on a design that would best suit our needs. He made smart recommendations that we did not originally consider which became part of the final product. Josh was the head contractor on the project and was on the worksite during every hour of construction. The 700 square foot deck was completed in only 7 days. Every step of construction was explained to us so we knew what was going on. The entire process was great and we highly recommend Modernize IT LLC if you are building a deck, porch, etc.

Josh and the whole team of Modernize IT were amazing to work with from beginning to end. Josh was very responsive from the first time I asked for a quote, through the whole process of getting our deck done. He constantly checked in and made sure we were happy with what we were getting. We had an issue with the town getting a permit for the original design we were looking for. He came out immediately to help us make changes and to give suggestions about what would look best. The guys that came with him to work on the deck rebuild were friendly and respectful of our property. We also had them work on the inclosed storage area under the deck, they made sure the previous issues we had with water and chipmunks wouldn’t be an issue anymore with the effort they put in to fixing it all. As well as finished it all with white lattice to make the whole thing look beautiful. I would highly recommend hiring them for any home needs.

When my wife and I started thinking about replacing our deck, I started paying attention the work local companies were posting online. Modernize It, was very impressive and so I reached out to Josh. We are incredibly pleased with the work that he and his crew did in building an amazing deck and screen room/sunroom! He even accommodated a couple last minute additions, including replacing the landing in our garage. The quality of work is top notch, the price was fair, and the crew was fantastic!

Joshua and his crew built a small landing and full flight of stairs outside from my patio door to ground level (Timbertech and Trex). I initially met Joshua for an estimate in spring 2023. Joshua communicated well from the time of the estimate to the installation. He and his crew took two days to build the structure. Joshua was present for the entire installation. There were two glitches that arose that he solved. The structure looks fabulous! Last night and today, we have had heavy rain and some strong wind gusts. The structure has been able to withstand that weather. Function and visual appeal have been successful. I highly recommend Modernize IT/Joshua's company for deck and stair projects.
Addendum: In May 2024, I hired ModernizeIT again to replace the siding/trim on my house. This is the second project on my house. Joshua and his crew did an amazing job throughout the project. They are all professional. Joshua was cognizant of the safety needs of his crew. The final outcome of the project is excellent. The siding has withstood the recent strong winds and is esthetically pleasing to see. I cannot believe the house looks so fabulous. Many neighbors have had positive comments about the outcome. Thank you so much to Joshua and his crew!

We were in a very bad place with a contractor who would not be able to complete our job. I reached out to Josh who got back to me with a quote quickly, just by seeing a few pictures. He and his team were hired after that. They pulled a permit and got to work right away. They turned an 8 week mess into exactly what we were looking for in less than two days. His crew was on site by 7am and worked all day to ensure things got done. They even took time to remove the mess left by the other guy. If I had more work I would hire them again today. High quality work done by a crew who cares to do it.

Josh Roy and his team have performed a variety of jobs at our Condominium Association over the last couple of years and he has always done an outstanding job. His team always conducts themselves in a professional manner and the owners in the association love the work he has done for their condos. We plan to have him work on our decks in the future.

If you can be excited about a deck, then we are so happy with the work Josh and his crew did.

Josh was incredible. Professional. Punctual. Excellent communication. His estimates came in considerably lower than the eight others I received. He was THE ONLY ONE to actually visit and look at the house before giving an estimate. Not one other company visited or met in person. The work is quality and he constructed both front stairs and deck quickly. I changed Trex colors right before he came to demo the old deck, and he was totally fine with the last minute change. He even refunded the cost of materials he didn’t use. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Call Josh!! You won’t be disappointed.

Joshua and his team do fantastic work! They replaced my old, ugly deck with new Trex decking and railings. They also completely rebuilt the stairs. They arrived on time, finished within the timeframe they promised (3 days) and left the yard spotless. Very easy to work with, and the cost was reasonable. Highly recommend!

Joshua was excellent to deal with from the first day that he came to see the job until the job was finished (Composite Deck Installation). He was communicative, responsive and made us aware of all the different steps of the installation from the time he would be showing up to what he would be doing. All of our questions were answered and we never felt that he was bothered by our questions. We actually requested a bit of a structural change to the deck as it was being built, and Joshua was very understanding and made it happen. The deck is very study as he used stronger footings, making the deck more resistant to bouncing when the kids are jumping into the pool. Above all, he is fair, prompt and got the installation done in a reasonable amount of time.

I have referred him to my friends and neighbors and look forward to hiring him in the future for other projects!

The Deck came out beautiful! Better than I had imagined. They had an opening come up earlier than originally planned and were able to get the job done quickly and beautifully.
