I highly do not recommend Mistry Construction Inc. We were lied to during the entire renovation project. When we hired them, we were promised a 6 month timeline. However, it turned into a 12 month project in which a plethora of things were not done. They prioritized their personal projects over ours and this also lead to the extension of the work. During the first three months absolutely nothing was done in the house. Once work begun, it was inconsistently and unsatisfactory “done.” We requested that the flooring and baseboard be completely wall to wall; including under sinks and appliances, and it’s not. The floor is uneven, there are gaps between the floor and baseboards, the windows are uneven, the paint is uneven and spotty, they did not complete any lawn care that was in the contract. During the project, when we asked any questions about a completion date, status update about on going work, or when will they return to the house to continue to work we got vague and inconsistent answers. About halfway through the project, the owner stopped all communication with us and refused to answer our calls, text, and emails. On top of this, Mistry Construction Inc tampered with our power meter that resulted in it being shut off by the company, not only did he lie to us about it, but he also passed the fine to us, refused to reimburse us, and asked our neighbor to run an extension cord from their house to ours so they could continue to work. We purchased a stacking kit for our laundry appliances that they did not use, “lost” and did not replace. Since they constantly failed to meet deadlines, they kept extending the contract. Finally we got fed up, took the house as it is. After they left, they left 8 buckets of mix, three opened bags of concrete, their paint table, drywall, installation, tools, and a bunch of garbage. In all, I do not recommended this company.

This company is completely unprofessional, and their work is satisfactory at best.

We closed on our home on 11/30/22, and according to our contract, they were supposed to begin renovating the project on 12/1/2022 and have it completed by 5/31/2023 (6 months). However, they did not start until March of 2023, wasting three months, due to them prioritizing other projects over ours. This was not discussed with us in advance nor did they communicate the truth with us throughout those three months. We reached out multiple times during the three wasted months to ask if the project was on track, and the answer was always yes. However, once work began in March, we would visit the property almost daily to see the progress, and it was very clear that there really wasn't any. There would only be 1-2 contractors working at a time if any at all, and there did not seem to be a consistent schedule. There were several times we showed up to the property during business hours and no one was working on the home. Again, we reached out to our general contractor, and we were always given brief and vague explanations about how everything was still on track to finish by 5/31/23.

While work was being done, the crew was very trashy and did not clean up behind themselves. They would leave fast food bags, wrappers, and cups half full of soda all over the house. They left empty water/gatorade bottles all over the yard. They also left bottles filled with a mysterious yellow liquid in the backyard. Once the plumbing was hooked up, they used the toilets inside of the house but left dried urine stains all over the seats for weeks at a time. It was absolutely disgusting. Not only did they leave personal trash all over, but they also left trash from work materials. Trash piles, cardboard boxes, and scrap material were constantly left in our yard and driveway. For example they replaced a bay window on the front of the house and just threw it into the front yard. The window frame and broken glass stayed in our yard for weeks. When they tore down the old concrete steps to the front door, they left the giant pile of concrete in the yard for weeks. The township of La Plata wrote the property up a few times for having a trashy appearance. Whenever, we received a write up the contractors would only clean up the bare minimum to avoid a fine, but they definitely took their time and waited until the last minute to do so.

Along with being bad communicators and trashy, the quality of the work was not good. Almost every window or door frame is crooked in the house. The floor is not level. The paint job is patchy. There are missing shelves in our cabinets. The concrete used for the front steps and walking path to the driveway is not smooth. The list goes on. And when we complained about anything, they claimed they would fix it but never did. They just kept trying to extend the contract although no one would show up to the property to work on anything. Whenever they did work on the property, it was only to do the bare minimum to pass inspection. They never addressed our punch list of unresolved issues in the house. They just continued to waste our time to the point that we decided to just end the project and accept our losses.

Overall, they do not communicate with their clients, their employees are trashy, and the quality of work is terrible. Do not hire them to work on your property.

High quality work, done on budget and on schedule. I initially hired this company to build a couple of custom furniture pieces for my home.

The hiring process was efficient and easy: After an initial phone conversation with Sunny Mistry (the owner) to discuss my requirements, Sunny drew up some designs and and a detailed estimate. The price was competitive and I was impressed the the amount of thought put into the design.

The two pieces of furnature (sofa table, and a king sized bed) were delivered and installed on time and on budget.

Since, I’ve worked with this company a couple more times for odd jobs around the house (install new shower, design/install new cabinets in the kitchen).

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
