Minnesota Exteriors was very quick to arrange an estimate for my new gutters. Troy Dvergsten came out and measured and gave me a price on the spot. I've used Minnesota exteriors before and I give them a great rating for service and workmanship.

Brandon C helped us immensely with every aspect of the project. We were able to get approved through insurance everything we wanted and needed and have an awesome update house look! Would highly recommended Minnesota exteriors and specifically Brandon!

This is the second time we've used MN Exteriors and we've worked with Troy both times. We couldn't ask for a better representative. He never pressures us and doesn't try to upsell. Stone and his team weee a pleasure to work with. Windows and doors have many levels of quality and price, and Stone did a great job of explaining their advantages and disadvantages. The best of several companies I spoke to about my replacement front entry door and sidelights. His work crew was also very professional. They were extremely careful in their install and invited me to look at their work so they could explain what was being done. And when I had follow up questions, MEI was quick to respond. Working with Scott at Minnesota Exteriors was wonderful! I had no experience with roof replacement or filing insurance claims and he made it so easy, helping with all the forms and knowing what needed to be done. Terrible customer service and lackluster finish quality. Ordered trim that was smaller than the exsisting to leave exposed paint from years ago that required touch up. Left gaps in the siding along the house so that gaping holes into the wall were just left wide open. To top things off, our sliding screen door is warrantied, and we have two small tears in it from no more than a couple months after Install, and I’ve gotten in contact with every form of customer service they offer and never get a call back or follow through. I’ve even spoken to someone who passed my project on to the service team and still no response. As the customer I shouldn’t be the one expected to follow up continuously to get a service provided that I paid for. Will not be using this company for anything ever again.

Worked with Bob G on hail claim for roof, gutters, and window wraps. I couldn’t have been happier with the work done. There was a snag with rotting fascia boards under the gutters and their team helped fix that too. The biggest part of this was Bob doing a great job communicating with the insurance adjuster to get this rolling because I’ve heard of many people around me getting hail claims rejected (usually with a certain suspect insurance company). Thanks again Bob and team at MEI.

If it wasn’t for Rudy being so nice and addressing my concerns with MEI’s work (and not charging for it), this would be a one-star rating. He was helpful through our many mishaps.

We had nearly every window replaced in our home in mid October (which is not cheap!) That was the plan at least, but after miscalculating our measurements for our basement windows and damaging stucco on our foundation while trying to install windows on our lower level, they had to reschedule (7 weeks later) to finish the last two window installs. Then we had to wait weeks for them to come back and seal those additional windows up.

MEI damaged our walls around many windows and we had to have even more work done to repair it - but then had to wait several more weeks over the holidays to get their partners AM out to finish painting the interior window frames and patching and painting the damage MEI’s installers caused. (One of the rooms they paint matched is definitely not a match, but please see update at bottom as this was rectified.)

They still need to arrange for our stucco to be fixed. As I write this, it’s mid-January. I’m tired of this dragging on (we ordered our windows in July) and can’t wait to close this chapter. We have more exterior work we plan to do and it will not be with MEI. This has been a disappointing and frustrating experience. I will actively not recommend MEI.

Update on 2/7: MEI resolved the paint match issue and covered the cost to have our room repainted by their contractors, and they did a good job.

Another addition: After I posted this, MEI reached out to me promptly requesting I remove this review (by phone, and also by showing up at my home unannounced.)

We hired Minnesota Exteriors to fully replace siding on our home and detached garage. Communication with the company has been poor. We were repeatedly told it would be a 5 day job. They somehow managed to underestimate the amount of siding needed by 15%. It has now been 20 days; we have had no contact from the project manager on when the remaining material will arrive, and snow is beginning to melt into seams where roof flashing was removed.

Each time I have called them about our project, I have been told I would hear back by the end of the day, but have never been called back. I don't know how to work with a company that won't communicate with its customers.

Don't bother with them! MEI did our siding installation, so I didn't think it would take much for a repair for an existing customer. But apparently 3 different messages at 3 different times one of which was left with Greg the service manager - and no one bothered to return my call even?? Needless to say they won't have my return business, and shouldn't get yours if this is how they view customer service.

Troy and team at MEI did a great job replacing our roof after a hail storm. They communicated well and the job was completed in one day.

From the start of the process, Troy was fantastic. He was very helpful in picking out our siding and was very responsive to all of our questions. The crew did a great job and everything looks great. The sales person was excellent! Super helpful, honest, not pushy. But it all fell apart after the sale. Zero customer service. I was told that my gutters would be done within two weeks, but no one contacted me, so I checked in and was told that they would call the day before. Not great planning. A subcontractor from another company showed up to do my gutters and left a mess. Gunk from the previous gutters was stuck to the side of my house, stuck on my patio, and chunks in my lawn. After installation, no one called to see how it went, check in, see if I was happy. All they did was send a bill and say pay immediately. Absolutely zero care for the client after the sale. I called and reported this. They just wanted their payment and said sorry and that they talk to someone about it and that was it. I won’t be using this company again.

MN Exteriors has been great to work with. They made us a priority and we're very fair. Troy listened to us and our experiences with other companies. Troy did a great job hearing us out and finding the perfect windows for us.

The staff has been exceptional. They really know their stuff. When it comes to having them handle an insurance claim, they really made it simple and took all the timewasting out of it. (And, I am an adjuster!)

There should be a zero rating for this place ! They have Done 2 jobs for us and f t up both ,they don't know how to measure ! They can't keep there promises, have alot more to say than I can put in this review!!!

MEI did some window work and re-sided my house years ago and I would not recommend them. The subcontractors they hired, for the most part, cut corners and did substandard work (not painting cut edges, bubbled caulking, etc.). Their project management is suspect considering they did not even finish the job (e.g. filling in nail holes), and were initially unaware of it until I informed them after I received the final bill in the mail. Yet they felt justified in repeatedly seeking the final payment for the job even after being made aware they had basic work remaining.
If you want to roll the dice on poor workmanship, look forward to a hassle getting them to address it and getting border-lined harassed to pay before the installation is finished then MEI might be right up your alley.

The start of it was great, easy to get on the schedule they called to set an appointment on one day and a full crew was here the next day. The work only took a day to do and the Forman was a nice guy. However I have been reaching put to them for 3 to 4 weeks now. Their is bowing in our roof tiles from the rain.

I called them for a week someone finally called and they said a Forman has to reach out to me and come out. It,s been 2 weeks and not call. I gave them a week with time with the holiday. However it has been a 2 weeks today and nothing. I have called them every other day This week.

We had MEI replace 3 small basement windows in 2017. We were pleased with that encounter. Because of this, I contacted them about replacing an egress window. Unfortunately this time around, my experience was less than acceptable. The salesman suggested a swing out style of window as the existing up/down is no longer code. Once installed, I was unable to open the window very much because the existing cover was angled and stopped the window from fully opening. I was thinking they would come back and they didn't so I called. The service team that then came out tried their best to come up with a solution, the window then was able to open all the way, and now it took in water onto the well. Also, the egress area is very narrow and really doesn't accommodate exiting. I to find a company that custom fits window covers. I really feel that the salesperson neglected to consider both the size of the existing well and the necessary slope of the cover. Had I been made aware of these issues I may have made a different choice or been prepared for the ramifications the window style caused.

Had air leakage on latch side of a Marvin french patio door. Tim, Dale, and Genadiy did a great job in solving the problem with an adjustment of the door frame. They were friendly, on time, efficient, did great job with clean up and arranged a follow up to replace a part for the weather seal. Couldn't ask for a better crew.

Working with Troy from Minnesota Exteriors has been such a wonderful experience! Our storm door install is going to be a little tricky and he has worked so graciously with me through everything! Minnesota Exteriors came recommended to me through my parents and now I recommend them to everyone who wants to get some quality, caring work done on their home. :)

Joseph Aalid from MEI came out for an inspection on my home and did a thorough report for us and advised us on any projects we needed to take care of and wasn’t pushy. Definitely recommend him and MEI!

When Troy came to our home to look at our windows and give us a quote, we felt like he was truly interested in helping us. He listened as we described our window concerns, and he was respectful as he evaluated our needs and offered a variety of options, including what we needed to do and not do. We have had people from other companies here, too, and all were more than happy to include in their quotes unnecessary work. But Troy from MN Exteriors was honest in his regard for us, and as a result, he and his company earned our trust. We recommend them highly.

We had a great experience working with Stone and the team at MEI last year after the hail storms. Unfortunately our insurance company denied our claim and we didn't actually have any work done. BUT! The amount of time and energy that Stone and everyone we worked with at MEI put in over the course of a couple months to try and get our claim approved was above and beyond, especially because it was done free of charge! I'll for sure be working with them after the next storm that hits.

Great service. Siding job a few years ago was top notch. This week we needed woodpecker damage repaired. Within a few weeks from us calling with concern, the affected siding was replaced. Looks great. I haven't had this kind of service response in years. Thank you service department.

We had an excellent experience with MEI. We had siding replaced and were impressed by their staff. Our sales rep, Troy was responsive to all the questions we had and returned all calls promptly. The installation went smoothly and cleanup was great.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. During the project, the workers did more damage than what nature did. Project managers were rude. Always having an excuse saying it was already damaged before hand. If that was the case the bidder would have documented it. Lastly the company is so unorganized. I am having trouble closing my project with them due to the lack of communication.

Updated- I waited in the company parking lot for 2 and half hours with my check to close the project because the project manager did not update anyone. So the receptionist( not her fault) and I had to wait over 2 hours so someone can say yes to the amount due. What a joke company.

I cannot tell you how much Troy goes above and beyond to get his job done to make sure everything is handled in a timely manner.

When I walked through the door that first day with a nightmare of a situation, Troy eased my mind in a hurry and I knew I came to the right place. Troy sat down with me late Monday morning, went over everything and asked if or how I wanted to proceed. By Monday afternoon, he was at my home doing the Hover Report.

Already impressed with the timing of the Hover Report Troy surprised me with my quote in less than a day! Just to be clear for everyone, we are doing the roofing, facia, soffits, gutters, siding, a new front door and a new sliding glass door. So not just a quick job to throw together - talk about turnaround! Troy definitely goes above and beyond to get everything you need done for your home, when you need it and is always available without hesitation when a question may arise.

We engaged MEI to replace our home's windows and patio door last July. We opted for the Provia windows and had a good initial experience finalizing the contract. Once the contract was signed and down payment made, communication wasn't as great. We discovered an issue on the rim joist below our patio door in August and reached out to MEI to review prior to our installation to determine if any additional work / cost would be needed, but no one followed up. We understood that installations were scheduled out pretty far when signing the contract, but our installation got delayed for almost a month and a half beyond what was initially estimated to late November. Once installation got going, things went smoothly with the exception of our rim joist issue. The onsite superintendent and head installers were concerned that the issue might require the removal of our deck to replace a substantial length of our rim joist which would have been great to know in the summer when we initially brought up the issue! They were able to patch in a repair to get us through the winter, but we unfortunately had to delay that fix until sometime this year when it warms back up again. We opted for a craftsman style trim on our windows with the top rail extending past the side trim pieces which results in a lot of flat cuts and no mitering. The pre-finished trim had unpainted ends when cut, so in addition to filling nail holes and caulking gaps between trim pieces, the ends would need to be primed and painted to match the faces. It wasn't made 100% clear in the initial sales process that the finishing of trim would be an additional cost since a different crew takes care of that scope. It would have been another $900 to do the filling and caulking on the faces of the trim for 11 of the openings and that would not have included painting the unfinished trim ends. We've opted to do this ourselves to save on the added cost, but didn't anticipate that it wouldn't be a completely turnkey installation for such a substantial investment. Overall we love the end results regardless of the bumps along the way, but there were definitely some areas for improvement. Thank you, MEI!

- Quick turnaround on quotes
- Installers were very thorough and skilled

Cons:
- Not truly turnkey - extra cost to caulk / finish window trim
- No follow-up on our reported issue prior to installation
- They're booked out a ways and installation got delayed until the end of install season

Avoid. Poor communication, damage to shrubbery, prolonged start dates, didn't start on the stated date, etc. I had Minnesota Exteriors replace the shingles on my home 10/18/23 because of previous hail damage. My down payment of almost 70% of the job cost cleared on 08/30/23. It took 7 weeks before work was started. I requested to view more options of available singles rather than the limited selection brought to my home. I was suggested to drive 60 miles to their warehouse to see the full assortment of availability. I was told I would have to wait for the material to get in because of delays. I contacted the office on 09/29/23 and was informed material had been in a week prior. I received a call from Scott Marcks (sales rep/adjuster) on 010/06/23 stating material was still delayed thus putting my job start date farther out. I told him I contacted the office and that the material was in and had been sitting in their office/warehouse for the prior week. Scott stated he was unaware the material was in and available. I was told the job would be started/completed 10/16/23. I took the day off from work so I could be home but no one showed up other than to put the license on the front door. I contacted the office and they stated someone should have contacted/informed me of the delay. The crew did show up and completed the next day 10/17/23. I was not available to be home that day. From my ring camera, I could see ladders were set up, material was being brought up in a location near landscaping/shrubbery. I sent Scott a pic/video of this and asked them to please be cautious to not damage shrubbery or gutters. He replied that they would let the crew know. The trees ended up being damaged. I informed Scott of this issue/sent him pictures and it was addressed by a text stating he "hopes they will be ok". I requested to speak with someone about the issues. I was contacted by Dan Hobbs, Chief Revenue Officer at Minnesota Exteriors. I explained to him the issues I had and he repeatedly told me that there is nothing he can do about it. I asked for an invoice of charges/work done/materials used. He told me that their accounting system is "archaic" and a breakdown of that information wasn't available. I sent the final payment enclosed in their business address stamped envelope so I could receive a receipt showing full payment along with invoice/job numbers to keep on record in case of future warranty claims. I would have paid electronically but I did not trust their online payment system after being told by Dan Hobbs their Chief Revenue Officer that their accounting system is "archaic". Weeks later I still received invoices with added late charges. I contacted the office and was informed that they hadn't received my payment and that they would look for it. The check was processed within a week and still had to get in contact 30 days later to again request a receipt for final payment.

**Waiting and waiting for a response from MEI on issues that need repair. Whether it’s workmanship or incomplete work. If no response I’ll update this post with pictures and a new, not so glowing review!!!

After a storm in June of ‘22 we worked with another contractor for hail and storm damage. Worst decision we ever made!
In May of ‘23 we called MEI to replace all of the previous contractors work. (roof, soffit, facia and architectural details on our front porch). BEST decision we made. From the first appointment with MEI we knew we made a good choice. The salesman, crew, production supervisor all were excellent to work with. We love how our home looks now!!
Don’t waste your time with anyone else. MEI is the best!!!

MEI COMPLETELY transformed the look of my home with new siding. I have hired them again (two years later) to side a separate building on my property to match the house.

In addition to quality and efficient workmanship on the siding, Troy, the salesperson, is an easy person to do business with. He makes the process easy, but best of all he really listens to your needs.

Troy visited our home yesterday and gave us a quote for replacing 5 bedroom windows. We are impressed with Troy's professionalism, friendliness, and above all knowledge of his products. His quote was very reasonable and we immediately signed up. I highly recommend Troy and Minnesota Exteriors to anyone needing windows.

Put windows in about 2 years ago. Took 6 months to fix all the mistakes (and eventually gave up due to frustration) and to this day all 6 windows still leaks cold air. Terrible !!!! I hesitated leaving a negative review but a waste of $20k.

I am following up regarding the recent siding and window installation at my home. I just had new siding put on the house and over 1/2 the windows installed needed to either be replaced or fixed. Your response indicated that the issues I pointed out are only “cosmetic.” After further review, that is not accurate (attached pictures). The problems was improper installation and workmanship, which could affected performance, weatherproofing, and long-term integrity.
