Metro Home Insulation & Waterproofing

Five years ago, I contracted with Home Depot to have the insulation in my attic upgraded. Metro Home Insulation did the work. At the time, I thought they had done fine, blowing several additioinal inches of insulation in. However, recently I had my home inspected and mold was discovered in the attic. I called Metro to come out to inspect the problem and tell me how to solve it: it took three calls before anyone called back. The tech who returned my call told me it wasn't their problem, even though all I wanted was an inspection and advice in order to solve the underlying causes, and they referred me back to Home Depot. While I felt brushed off, this was not the worst part of their service. When the mold removers I hired went up into the attic to remove the mold, they discovered that the new insulation had been blown in on top of moldy insulation! At no time did anyone from Metro -- neither the estimator nor a technician--inform us that there was mold in the attic: they simply went up and blew their product on top of the existing mold. Given that the mold continued to grow, I suspect that their insulation installation not only failed to solve the mold problem, but exacerbated it by interfering with existing ventilation. I won't ever know, as Metro chose not to come out to examine the situation. So I can't recommend their company either for its customer service or its work.

I had Metro Home Insulation do my insulation when I built my home back in 2008. At the time they sold me on this exterior block sealant, covered by fiberglass insulation sheets which they stucco sprayed the exposed areas below the siding to the ground. They called it their "Watchdog System". I had issues with the stucco right away and couldn't get them back out. 10 years later large chunks of the stucco have fallen off exposing the yellow insulation. The stucco covered fiberglass sheets slid down the block wall (6 +/- inches below the siding in spots) exposing the black seal coating on the block. Essentially and the whole thing looks terrible. In some spots where the sliding occurred, water intruded behind the sheeting and now large portions of the fiberglass have separated from the wall and I lost what little insulation value it provided. When it was originally installed you could easily poke a finger right through the stucco. It was a terrible product that should have never been sold and now I have to rip it all off from the siding to the ground as they refused to do anything about it after they got paid. Keep in mind that was ten years ago and hopefully they have since changed their ways. I do have to give them credit on the interior insulation work as that I was satisfied with.

Wow, called in to get a quote/estimate on a spray foam application on an old farmhouse and even before I could fully detail the project Brian abruptly said "Nope, not interested" Fair enough, their business but I'm in an industry that gets a lot of requests for recommendations to trades people and I certainly won't be giving Metro Home Insulation's name out. All it would have taken is a "Gosh, thanks for the call and checking but we have concerns with that project for this or that reason" Sorry Brian, but poor customer service skills will cost you a lot of money in the long run.

When going through the estimating process, we felt they had the most knowledge and the best approach. They completed the work on time and on budget. Our heating and cooling bills have been lowered dramatically. We were very pleased with their attention to detail and the end results.
