Merit has been nothing short of great. They arrived quickly, communicated the whole process with me, worked with my insurance and made it really easy to continue our normal life and not be totally disrupted by our water leak.

The team at Merit are great people to work with! I’ve referred them to multiple friends and family with restoration needs.

Second time calling Merit Restorations for an emergency situation in our home and once again customer service was 10/10. The team was able to get to our home quickly, assess the situation and walk us through next steps. The team at Merit Restorations exceeded our expectations! From scheduling to completion of the job at our home in Round Hill, VA, their team was professional, attentive, and detail-oriented. Communication was seamless with every member of the team. They left everything better than they found it and kept the job site tidy. Their workmanship meets high standards. Highly recommend!

I believe they are subcontracted by insurance companies (specifically Allstate) for business and to minimize costs. They appeared to find the least expensive, untested, subcontractors, rather than anyone actually affiliated with Merit. While common to sub work, I expected trusted workers they would use in their own homes. This did not happen. While I initially used them because of recommendation and my commitment to trying to always support local (Purcellville area) businesses, I was sadly let down. The quality of subcontractor work, particularly the drywall repairs, were glaringly subpar, with noticeable imperfections. Despite requests for corrections (and a few attempts made), along with the quoted project timeline (growing) that was already much longer than anticipated and planned by others we interviewed, we ultimately decided to cut our losses with Merit and move on. We are very pleased with that choice.
In our search for a new contractor, we found a reputable and licensed company who successfully brought our initial vision to life, incorporating the upgrades we desired. Interestingly, Merit was offering to replace old materials/design with similar, and at the same exact cost that Allstate had quoted for the repairs - nothing more. The new contractor did upgrades (ex. frameless glass shower vs Merit's cheap insert), used materials to modernize the space, etc. at below this price. They even recommended options (ex. bathroom fan closer to the shower to eliminate more moisture) we agreed to in the final, lower, price. This experience led me to believe that Merit was overcharging for the cheapest labor available and marking up material to maximize overhead costs. Additionally, there was minimal effort in terms of customer service or addressing our concerns with our project manager, Nathan, before we decided they were not the right fit for our project. Looking at other reviews and the inconsistency of work quality, my suspicions that work is subcontracted to the cheapest available workers doesn't seem crazy. If you book them, just hope you get the right random crews coming in to get your home in order. Overall, we were disappointed and would never recommend.

No, I would not recommend this company. What they promised was not consistent with what they delivered. They were supposed to clean up smoke damage from a tenant we had in our home. They sent an untrained crew to our home for two days who improperly cleaned smoke damage. Merit left wet rags on wood flooring; cleaning solution streaks on walls, windows, molding, stainless appliances, doors, and kitchen cabinets; rinsed cleaning solutions and rags in our brass and stainless sinks; and overall just did a poor job.

They charged for an incomplete job and did not show up on a Saturday when they were supposed to come back and finish. They also charged for equipment use left over the weekend resulting in a five-day vs. two-day charge. They declared that the job was “complete” and claimed that there was nothing left for them to do.

We now have to get our home cleaned again before repairs/repainting can begin. Maybe we just got an inexperienced crew based on the other reviews, but we are taking this up with their corporate office.

Merit Restorations secured and renovated our home after we suffered a fire in our garage. Merit was first on the scene shortly after the fire department extinguished the fire, and before the insurance company could provide recommendations regarding who to contact to ensure our home was boarded up and secured overnight. Their timeliness was critical as we were exhausted, stressed out, and shaken after escaping the fire. Pip reassured us that our belongings would be safe as he waited for his team to board up the home. Once the insurance company cleared the scene, Merit began the full renovation and restoration of our home from top to bottom. I am extremely pleased with the results. Our home looks better than the day we bought it. Our insurance covered the restoration of our home, but we were also able to work with Josh to make some out-of-pocket upgrades and fixes that we needed to do anyway. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Merit Restorations again if I need to renovate a home.

When a serious water disaster struck our home, we were faced with both the recovery from the water damage and the restoration of our home.

The recovery phase was handled by a well known company who were purported to be an expert in recovery. Their performance was miserable and they left a situation that would hamper restoration.

When it came to the second phase, the restoration, Merit Restoration was a breath of fresh air. Pip Patterson, the Director of Large Loss and Emergency Services, assured us that there would not be any repeat of our frustration. And he was spot on!

Josh Patterson, the Large Loss Project Manager and Estimator, got immediately to work. His coordination with our insurance company relieved us of a mountain of red tape … a lifesaver. He and his crew were very receptive to our needs and concerns, and the quality of their work was exceptional. Issues and concerns that we had or that arose during their efforts were promptly evaluated and corrected. Changes and improvements were handled without them skipping a beat.

To sum it all up, we heartedly recommend Merit Restoration.

We had the house fire October 2022 and finally we are very close to moving back into our home. I have to say it's been long and hard to get to the point of moving back in. Finally, I can say we are 99% finished and we can start the move-in process. I can go hours and hours about the people who’ve offered prayers, support, and etc, but I really want to make a special thank you to Sam Chapman and his team at Merit Restoration. When we first hired them we knew little about Merit (just what we read on reviews), but hiring Merit was the best decision we made. We had immense challenges from a construction standpoint and financial standpoint. From a construction standpoint Merit found ways to resolve any issues without having us worry about anything. Not once did Sam and his team at Merit say they couldn’t do something. Merit always found ways to resolve a situation. From a financial standpoint we got caught up into a difficult financial situation. Merit could’ve walked away from the job, but Sam went way over and beyond his duty to help us out to resolve the situation we got in. I honestly don’t know who else would’ve taken that kind of risk on a client like Sam and his Merit team did given the situation. The only explanation I can offer is that someone was watching over us and sent us an angel to work on rebuild. There are no enough words to thank Sam and his team enough for what they did for me and my family and I pray that no other family have to go through what we’ve went through, but if there is a catastrophic event like a house fire and you need to call someone hands down Merit is best. Merit will make sure you are taken care of better than family. We want to thank Sam for being there for us; Nathan our project manager for the daily grind; and the entire Merit team for treating us like family and not giving up on us. A big Thank You from the bottom of our hearts!! We will never forget what you guys did for us. In all honesty I think Merit deserves 10 stars, but we can only give them 5 =)

Cody the project manager. Is a very courteous And knowledgeable individual. He stays on top of all the contractors and assures that they perform as they should. I would recommend Merit for all your home restorations.

Called them out of the blue, needed attention, they were here in less than 2 hours, assessed and remediated my water damage quickly and handled paperwork and communication with our insurance company, There repair persons were very talented and did a quality job in record time! I wanted to share about my recent experience with Merit Restorations in Lynchburg. I could not be more thankful for the job done by Brian. He arrived at our house, introduced himself and walked us through the process of the mitigation work that we would need to be done. He did a comprehensive walk through with us, explaining everything in detail and answered all of our questions. He came prepared with all the fans and dehumidifiers needed for our job, and got right to work to eliminate any further damage, even "after hours". He did a wonderful job and made a very stressful situation a 100% better by taking time to communicate with us and put our mind at ease every step of the way! These guys are top-notch, and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

We had an issue with a steam dryer that caused a large amount of water damage to our home. Merit sent a crew out as soon as out insurance company contacted them. The guys that did the mitigation work were top notch professionals. They were very careful and made sure we knew each of the steps they needed to go through in order to dry the house out and get it ready for repairs. Once that part was complete Merit sent out the restoration PM who estimated the work and arranged for the crew to take care of that part of the project. Once again the crew that did this work were careful, highly professional and did superb work. I can’t recommend this company enough for their professionalism and work quality and pricing as well. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone in need of water mitigation services.

We had a sewer line backup and had to have the carpet in our family room replaced. The team that replaced the old carpet and installed the new carpet was incredibly competent. Guests in our house have commented most favorably on the apearance of the new carpet and the comfort when walking on it due to the better padding underneath the carpet. A job well done.

My experience with Merit Restorations has been outstanding and I couldn't be happier. There is no doubt that JD and his Team are professionals who genuinely care about their clients. They kept me updated throughout the entire process and were very accommodating.

Luke Rambow and his team were awesome. Not only was the quality of work great and cheap but he also helped me in every step of the way. Very easy to communicate and coordinate with as well as knowledgeable. Will use them again if we have more remodeling needs

Does not listen to customer it's been 3 weeks and my basement is still in diary. Labor took all day to rip flooring out and paint 1 wall. Still unable to wash cloths. Left hot and cold water off that is connected to washing machine and drainage hose on the floor. If I didnt check behind washing machine I would have had more water damage. Left items outside. I did not know until after it rained.

After high winds toppled a tree onto the roof of my lawn equipment shed, my insurance provider put me in touch with JD who promptly arrived, assessed the damages and provided an immediate quote on cost and time of completion.
The highlight of the entire service was Matt. A one-man demonstration of commitment and integrity, Matt single-handedly took the task in hand and after he finished, you couldn't even tell that the roof had sustained a gaping hole from the tree falling on it.
The job was done quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.
I would recommend Merit Restorations to anyone.
