Their ideas made the design better than we could have imagined, and they brought so much experience to the table that the build couldn't have been easier. The feeling of knowing that every detail was as important to them as it was to us made it as easeful a process as I could imagine. Thank you so much Melton family!

We had Tara Beals ( new to Melton Refresh Design Group) give us a lovely presentation on our request to have a kitchenette designed for the basement. She provided 3 visual options to select from and a very detailed Scope of Work. Due to circumstances beyond our control this project has been placed on hold for now by the family.

We went with Melton for a kitchen/living room renovation and were thoroughly impressed by the work and the process as a whole. Angela, Jess, and Ariel were amazing during the design process and came up with some great solutions. Micah and Pierre did fantastic work and kept us fully in the loop during the entire construction process. Everything was completed to an incredibly high standard, as well as ahead of schedule so all-in-all a great experience all-around. I would highly recommend Melton to anyone looking to start a renovation project.

I work for a law firm that has an upstairs neighbor who just moved into our building. Melton Design Build needed to access their plumbing through our ceiling after hours. Michael Soliday and his crew made sure it was as if they were never in our suite. They cleaned up and left everything as if they were never in there. Very respectful and professional team. They also finished their work earlier than expected! Great company!

I am over the moon with my kitchen and am super happy with every aspect of the Melton team! I will call out the design and carpentry simply because they were probably the trickiest given our kitchen (and house) are quite small. I love the custom artwork over our stove, and the hidden drawers built-in to our ladder, making everything really unique! Melton was great at communicating and came in on schedule! Thanks team!

Melton has done quality work at my home over the years. They are quick to respond with any follow needs, and I have continued to call on them over the last several years for new projects or advice.

We worked with Melton on a major remodel of our cabin. Melton was very accurate in their estimate of what the project would cost - no surprises. Melton does a lot of pre-planning, so there were no delays from suppliers or subcontractors that delayed the project. I also appreciated their flexibility and routine communication. And they were very willing to work with some of our special needs and unusual building materials. I would definitely work with them again.

We used Melton to get a brand new kitchen and I wouldn't have wanted to use anyone else. They were amazing every step of the way and did great work. We had an incredible experience with MeltonDB - it's been almost 2 years since we've had our kitchen remodel and it was absolutely impeccably done from start to finish. (And no issues to this date!) The team was so incredibly kind, helpful and kept all of their commitments and scheduling and were realistic with us as well about what was possible. I have had renovations done before, and while I expected a certain level of stress coming in, I did not expect the relatively easy-going experience with Melton, it was truly turn-key. They gave us choices, we made decisions and everything went easily from there -- each employee or sub-contractor in our house was incredibly kind and easy to talk to. While on the higher price point, I would absolutely do another renovation with them for the ease-of-mind and quality of work they provided.

We had a great experience with Melton. One of the biggest benefits of using them is that they are a one stop shop, so everything is handled by them. When there were little snafus along the way, we didn’t sweat any of it - it was a Melton problem to figure out. There entire team is great. Every person who came into our home was on time, respectful of our property and kind, not to mention highly skilled. Our project manager, Nick, was always super responsive and approachable, while our designer, Lindsey, was a creative genius. We are thrilled with the finished product and will absolutely use Melton again for any future projects.

We asked up front if MDB had experience with small builds.  We heard "yes, no problem." We then had the initial kickoff meeting where budget expectations were set.  We signed a contact with that budget.  Before I could even pay the retainer, they came back with an amended contract that increased the budget. We paid the retainer, waited several months, and received project estimates with budgets that were 50% over that budget. It was shocking and unbelievable, and a huge waste of everyone's resources.

I'm a structural engineer in Colorado/Boulder and was trying to build a house in Boulder. Went through the Melton process and if anyone wants my opinion before getting under contract feel free to reach out.

Edit: I also looked back at emails and they did mention the cost to install well and septic so I thought it was being accounted for but at the last meeting it was like no that's not in this estimate for 1.2 million. And this came back at the higher end of fees with me completing the engineering design. So if you already own the property, got geotech, survey and site civil on your own, completing the structural engineering on your own, a house with melton is still in the 600$-700$ sf range just for labor and materials cause this did not include their own design fees. Soft cost & hard costs should have been thought, we definitely were thinking about it and bringing it up.

Many years ago we had Melton remodel our home. Recently we had a small problem that was a result of something that had been done badly in the remodel. They ended up fixing it, and fixing it well, way, way after the warranty had expired. And not charging us. This is my idea of a responsible business!

Extremely high quality/craftsmanship and wonderful design. They really listened to us about our wants and design style. The job was completed on time and within the budget. They get our highest recommendation.

Melton redesigned the entrance to my home as well as interior space and constructed a pergola for shade and aesthetics. Every step was meticulously planned and executed. The design staff was patient, thoughtful and creative. The construction management was organized, punctual and considerate. The Melton construction team's extreme attention to detail added unimaginable value and beauty to the design. In spite of supply chain disruptions and poor weather, Melton completed the project on time and the quality of the work exceeded all my expectations.

Melton completed a full remodel of our master and guest bathrooms about a month ago. I echo the favorable reviews previously posted. Having done several prior remodel projects with other contractors, I can say without hesitation that Melton's work was exceptional. The level of supervision and communication were incredible. Everyone who worked on the project was highly skilled in their area, conscientious, delightful to be around and did an excellent job with great attention to detail. As other reviews have noted, Melton is far from the least expensive company around. However, at a certain point in life you start figuring out that simplifying a difficult process, having good people working on it, and ending up with a superb end product (that is covered by a multi-year guarantee that I have never seen the likes of) is worth a whole lot. If you're willing to spend the money to avoid a world of hassles and end up with a great job, I'm not sure you can beat Melton in this part of the world. We will use them for all future projects.

We remodeled 3 of our bathrooms with Melton during the fall of 2018. At that time, we took for granted how well Melton projects were managed.
Just recently we lived (barely!) through a VERY tough and challenging basement finish construction project with Another Company lasting 20 weeks when it was originally planned for 8-10 weeks. The project lacked strong onsite management, leading to many construction errors, miscommunications with the trades and several redo’s.

The bottom line is that we now truly appreciate how well run our bathroom remodel project was with the Melton Team. Out of the 4 major remodels we’ve done in our house during the past 7 years, Melton clearly stands on top as “The Best”. We have recommended Melton to many friends and neighbors and will continue to do so.

Many Construction companies focus only on the end product they provide and ignore the importance of a smooth run, stress-free journey getting there. Melton has clearly figured out how to run projects smooth and efficiently! And to top it off their work is of top quality and excellent results.

We couldn't be happier with Melton on our house addition project. The team is super professional, responsive, and responsible. They provided a realistic budget upfront, provided a detailed timeline on the entire project, and they actually finished on time despite the impact of COVID. MeltonDB completed a project for us in spring 2019. They were great to work with and highly professional. Our project manager Ben did everything possible to keep us in the loop and on schedule. Throughout the the "warranty year" they continued to be very responsive and highly professional. We are thrilled with how our project turned out. The space is absolutely beautiful. Yes they are probably on the higher end of the price spectrum for the area but you do get what you paid for in terms of the finished product AND the process from beginning to end. We would certainly use Melton again for any future remodels so hopefully that says it all.

I spoke to Josh at Melton about a project that I was looking to start right away. Even though we quickly established that they were too booked out to take on my project in the time frame that I was looking for, Josh spent a good amount of time with me sharing his advice on how to approach the project to get the most value and walking through recommendations for other firms. I truly appreciated the professionalism and transparency, and if I had more lead time I'd love to work with them in the future. Btw, these guys are BUSY -- they were booking several months out when I spoke to them -- so suggest getting on their calendar sooner than later if you'd like to work with them.

I have now had the pleasure of working on multiple projects with project managers Reed Halstead and Shawn Kenne and their clients for Melton Design Build in September of 2019 and Summer of 2021. Melton contracted our roofing company to replace the roof of the home they were remodeling. Reed, Shawn and Melton were incredibly responsive and proactive throughout the entire process. They were flexible and cooperative in helping to resolve the few minor issues that arose. I greatly appreciate working with a company that is professional, consistent and obviously cares greatly about their craft. In short, I would recommend them without hesitation. In the construction world you can always find someone who will do the job for less money, but you are less likely to find a company that cares enough to always do things the right way the first time. Melton Design Build is that company. Hire them, you won't be sorry.

We were very pleased with our kitchen remodel with Melton. The project was finished promptly (ahead of schedule, I think) and the results were fantastic. It was very easy to work with the team (Ben, Nick and Danielle, primarily) at all phases of the project, and they were very responsive to, and understanding of, our concerns and requests. We would certainly want to work with them again.

After a year working with Melton planning our remodel, after endless hours reviewing drawings and attending meetings, they call me out of the blue one day and say I was clearly unhappy. I assured "Andy" (?) that all was well but he persisted, finally saying his staff felt we were angry and they would therefore allow us to break the contract and part ways. We were GOBSMACKED! We shared glasses of wine at our meetings, laughed together and had them to our home! Then they tried to convince my husband that I was the one who said I wanted out (to avoid having to return funds). This attempt to undermine the trust between a couple to their benefit (luckily not possible in our case) was in very poor taste.
Looking back, there were signs that all was not well or as it seemed: I wrote them several times saying I felt the interior designer was not the right fit. Each time they simply convinced me she was. They insisted on their choice of cabinet company (Porcelanosa) even though it wasn't what I was looking for. When I drove to Denver to meet the team there just to give it a fair look, it turned out the cabinets had already been picked out (the shop had printouts with their model numbers plugged in to pictures of my kitchen that I had never seen) and I was told to simply choose the color! I refused (obviously) and naïvely suggested we check out the cool shop next door (German Kitchens) which was more what I was looking for. The crazy thing is they acted so nice the whole time, agreeing to look next door, complimenting me on my design aesthetic and saying how they were getting so many requests for my more modern style since I introduced it to them. I left feeling like an awkward situation was averted but it was shortly after that that they ditched us. After a year of planning and so many fake smiles and handshakes, they simply walked away 30 days before groundbreaking.
In retrospect we are relieved we hadn't broken ground, but it left a very bad taste. We've done many complex design projects both personally and professionally. We know that getting on the same page takes communication. We thought that process was complex but working. Clearly they did not. Or was it that we wanted a chance to review their drawings before we came to meetings? Or that we were not willing to be forced to use their cabinet company? Sometimes I wonder... but whatever it was, we honestly, we never saw it coming. Our project manager Krista was "nice" during the process but didn't even have the respect to call us herself to pull the rug out. Ryan the architect seemed decent. Emily, the interior designer, was terrible from the start.
At the end of the day we recouped a decent amount of our deposit back, with some arm twisting. It's unclear looking back if anyone was being honest with us during that entire year or what to make of their fake smiles. They say customer happiness is their priority, but at what cost to honesty and integrity?

We've worked with Melton twice - once for our kitchen remodel, and once for bathroom remodeling. We have been incredibly pleased with our experience, from beginning to end, and know that we made the right choice when we decided to work with Melton. Kudos to Benjamin Fernandez, who was our project manager for both projects - he is patient, thorough in his explanations, and always made us feel that no "bump in the road" is insurmountable. We love the way everything looks! Thank you, Melton!!

We are so happy to have chosen Melton Design Build for our large-scale home remodel. The entire team worked so well together for us for the entire project, and were excellent communicators throughout the process. We did the lion's share of this from out of state and had complete confidence in their integrity when we were not able to be on-site. Emails, phone calls and FaceTime when we could not be there were timely and consistent, and we never felt that too much time went by without a quick response. What we anticipated being a potentially stressful process truly was not; our working relationship with them for the entirety of it was wonderful. What are some words and phrases to describe our experience with Melton...? Here are a few that come to mind: A+. 5-star. Top shelf. OMG, I cannot believe this is my home.

We started working with Melton in the summer of 2017 to do a major remodel of the main floor (living room, entryway, kitchen, dining room) of our tired and dated early 70's Boulder home. From the initial contact, thru the many planning meetings that we had at Melton's office, to the construction itself, everything has wildly exceeded our expectations. We really didn't know what we wanted going into the project, and so didn't want to hire some ordinary general contractor who would show up with a toolbox and ask us what we wanted done. We wanted a company that could handle it all -- from interior design, to picking out everything from cabinets to toilet paper holders, to taking care of all of the demolition and construction, so we chose Melton Design Build. We really felt that we needed the 'Design' part that they brought to the table.

Melton has their own in-house staff of planners and interior designers. Their office is a wonderland of cabinets, floors, countertops, etc. to look at for ideas and to choose from. The only choices we had to make that didn't involve their showroom were for appliances, and for that they sent us to yet another wonderland that I didn't even know existed (Specialty Appliances in Louisville). Through our many planning meetings they opened our eyes to many possibilities that we would not have even known existed if we had tried to plan this out ourselves. Thank you to Steven P, Christine D, and Jessica W for the many planning sessions and ideas about what was possible. Your work shines in the finished product.

When it came time to start the demolition and construction, I was really impressed with not only the quality, but also the consistency of the crew. Melton has their own staff of carpenters and it was wonderful to have mostly the same Melton crew there at our house every day. Well before construction started there was a very detailed schedule that laid out start and end dates for every little aspect of the project. That schedule called for the project to be done on 4/24/18 -- the project finished on 4/26/18, two days "late" due to an unexpected situation that revealed itself only after demolition started. A 90 day project that ripped apart and put back together our entire main floor that essentially finished exactly when it said it would -- I call that amazing. We and our pets continued to live in the house (basement) throughout the whole project, and I was impressed with the respect that the crew afforded us in that regard. No pets escaped, the house was cleaned up (as much as reasonably possible) at the end of each work day, the crew arrived and departed at reasonable and consistent hours, etc. Thank you to Jim G (lead carpenter), Andy D, Peter K, and others on the Melton production crew who helped and who I'm sorry I didn't get to meet enough times to remember your names.

We could not be happier, not only with the finished result, but with our choice of Melton Design Build to get us to that result. A few years down the road, when we are ready to turn our attention to other areas of our home that need a facelift, it will be a no-brainer on who we are going to work with.

We just completed a major master bath remodel with Melton that included moving some fixtures and installation of a large steam shower. Every milestone in the project plan was met on time and delivered at a high level of quality!

We recently did a major overhaul on our kitchen. The communication was awesome, the attention to detail was stupendous and all the personnel were helpful, gracious and highly skilled.

We got several estimates before choosing Melton. While they were not the lowest, you get what you pay for. They were extremely prompt and professional, and our job was done beautifully. To our surprise, the drywall finisher even patched a few small holes we had left from a previous project just as a courtesy. Sometimes with contractors the estimator is very professional and then the workers who come are less so. With Melton, every single person involved with the job was professional and very competent.

It all started with a phone call to Melton on a couple of leaking windows we needed some advice on how best to repair. It led to a full remodel of a mud room and laundry room that we could not have been more satisfied with when it was completed on-time and with full transparency of the process. Every interaction from the first phone call, to every design & construction meeting, to each touch point in their company was professional, courteous, and respectful. We have even asked for their help with a few smaller projects that we have put off until we found that they could help us with them too! The quick recap is Melton has a great team, they try and succeed at doing things different (read better) than every other contractor we have come across before and each day progress was being made for an completed project with minimal disruption to our lives while in our home. We had some hail damage and since we were getting a new roof decided it was a good time to replace the nasty looking awning with something more modern.

Calling around to various architects and builders in Boulder was a frustrating experience. Most were too busy to even talk about a smaller project. It sounds like a small thing, but the fact that Melton returned my call quickly and was interested in the job was a big plus. I’m happy to say that professionalism carried through for the entire project. I was continually impressed by how refined their entire process was. From the first meeting there was always a clear agenda and an explanation of the next steps.

Working with Adrian and Matt during the design process was awesome. They took our half formed ideas an inspiration and brought them to life. They were happy to keep making revisions until we found something we were both happy with. Along the way we expanded the scope of the project quite a bit, and accordingly the budget was at the upper end of the range we’d agreed to. So we started working with them to scale the work back to fit a more modest budget.

We had really enjoyed our meetings with our architect, Matt, so it was sad to see him go but we were exited to move on to our project manager, Scott, and get the building started. Scott did a great job of setting expectations for the timeline and impact on our family. He even helped coordinate with the roofing company to make sure the new work wouldn't interfere with our insurance claim.

Once the work started their crew was awesome. Everyone, Jim, Mike, Dan and Diego, were sweating the details and making sure the work was right and everything was clean when they left. The highlight of my morning was getting the run down from the head carpenter, Jim, on what they were working on that day. I’m a software developer so I was fascinated seeing how they built something tangible. Jim was always happy to explain things and talk through the small design decisions that come up when you’re translating plans into wood and cement. They were true craftsmen.

We’re really pleased with how our house turned out and I’d highly recommend Melton. They’re definitely not the cheapest way to go but their designers’ taste, management’s planning, and builders’ attention to detail is well worth it.

We worked with Melton on an *almost* full home remodel, including kitchen, master bath, 3 baths, exercise room, flooring. The entire project was well-managed. The project manager, lead carpenter and the entire Melton crew were extremely talented, courteous and respectful to neighbors. Top quality work! The 4 month project was kept on track and delivered on time.

One of our main goals was that the addition to our home would look as if it was part of the original house plan and not an add-on. We had an incredible team to work with. The design team listened to and collaborated with us expertly so that the final product is just what we wanted while keeping budget in mind. Additionally, our building project manager was superb in his knowledge, attention to detail, excellent communication skills and heartfulness (yes, you read that correctly!); and our lead carpenter's skill, work ethic and humor was apparent throughout. Melton Design Build has been wonderful to work with and have created a beautiful place to live for my father and I. From our first meetings with Virginia and Bethany discussing what we were looking to have done, we were comfortable and confident that we were in the right place. They worked hard to come up with ideas and options and presented us with beautiful options to choose from.

After all of the selections and materials were chosen and we took a virtual reality tour of our space to be, Scott took our plans and scheduled all of the necessary carpenters and contractors to provide a logical flow of events and keep the project moving. Trying to keep track of all the details such as who is working on which parts, and what needs to get finished before each new step is like trying to herd cats. Add to that, my father and I coming up with new, great ideas gave Scott a pretty good challenge. He handled it without any problem and always found ways to accommodate us and any of the normal bumps in the road while keeping it all moving forward.

The team he pulled together were wonderful and respected that this was our home even though they were tearing out walls and taking out plumbing and wiring. They were very mindful of the space and keeping it as clean and dust free as possible. Pete and Diego took time and care during demolition to do what they could to ensure the carpenters had everything in place they would need to get started. Jim came in to start the rebuilding of the space and between all of them, they had the foresight to make or propose necessary adjustments which has turned into a spectacular, livable home.

Our carpenter, Kevin, took over installing the cabinetry and creating custom benches and storage cubbies that match perfectly. His attention to the smallest details and fine tuned adjustments have made a huge difference on how everything works. I love how all of my drawers slide and doors open and close. Everything fits perfectly. He took time to match all of the moldings and any wood work to make it all come together perfectly. One of the best seats in the house is the entry bench he built for us. My father and I regularly sit there and look around at our space in awe.

From Bethany and Virginia's ideas and vision through Scott, the carpentry team, and the subcontractors Melton works with, we are beyond happy and feel incredibly blessed to live in a work of art.

Melton has worked with our family on several projects in the past. Most recently, they fixed a roof leak and repaired drywall. Grahame, our representative, was excellent to work with. He let me know of any updates, schedule changes, etc. As before, i was very pleased with the results as well as the process. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Professional, Reliable, Timely and Clean. Our Melton team met our expectations and delivered what they had promised. No remodeling or construction project is easy. Preparing for a project is fun and exciting then sucks the life out of you midway into it. What makes Melton unique is the anticipation of those issues prior to engagement of the project.

We used MDB for a large renovation project near downtown Boulder. Our house was a 1950's ranch, and we hired MDB to gut the original galley kitchen, open up the kitchen and main living area, add a laundry room, and pop the top for 2 additional bedrooms and bathrooms. We wanted a fast turnaround to minimize the disruption in life, high quality work, and ease of process as we both work full time and have 2 kids. Melton delivered on all 3 exceptionally well. Having their team under one roof was a major benefit, and they produced very specific cost spreadsheets and project timelines. Through the entire process there was a very high level of communication and professionalism. At the end of the project, the total cost matched the original quote and the few touch ups that were needed were completed timely. Our neighbors also remarked how courteous the MDB contractors were in keeping the site clean. I had an initial concern that a design/build firm would be more costly due to the overhead, however in the end I believe their approach produces a better product at lower cost. MDB won't be the cheapest or most expensive in town, but they deliver great value and high quality work. I would not hesitate to use them again or refer them to friends.

We used the MDB team for a substantial interior remodel of our condo in Gunbarrel: full kitchen replacement, new floor on main level, new roof skylights, complete interior repaint. We feel that we got excellent results at a reasonable price from a great team. We had slightly unusual design and structural challenges, which the MDB design and engineering team anticipated and solved, nicely. Some interesting design options suggested by MDB turned out very positive. The removal, construction and installation process went remarkably well, with close attention and frequent updates by the MDB project manager; the entire team remains attentive to any post-project issues! We give this team our highest ratings, we would definitely work with them again!

We have used Melton Design Build for two major projects, and we have been very happy with both. We found the staff to be very communicative, which is important during a house renovation. They were attentive when issues came up, as they always do. They also finished both projects within the time-line that we expected. Finally, while we have not had much of a need for follow up, if we have had anything arise, they have always come right over to help resolve the problem. I feel like their customer service extends far beyond the norm, and well after the completion of the project.

We hired MDB to help us us increase the energy efficiency of our 1901 Boulder home in Newlands. We had them blow in insulation into our basement and attic, as well as seal our exterior doors. They did an incredible job. It cost exactly how much they quoted us up front. They showed up each day when they said they would, and they were friendly and respectful of my home. Everyday when they showed up, they told me what they were going to do, and asked if I had any questions, and did the same each evening when they left for the day. I felt very in the loop about what was going the whole time. We've felt a major difference in the temperature of our home and on our energy bill. I'll absolutely hire them again.

We are very pleased with the quality of the workmanship on the kitchen and living room remodel which Melton just completed for us. Clay and Rio's attention to detail in the planning stage made the work go very smoothly. The planned timeline allowed time for exact work rather than just banging out the project quickly. Everyone involved in the project including the subcontractors was polite, kept the worksite clean, kept the site safe for our small children and went out of their way to make sure we were happy with their work. The carpenters Ron and Cliff obviously took pride in their work and took time to make sure that every detail was exactly correct. Our project manager Rio was very organized and did everything in his power to make us happy.
I am sure that if someone is looking for a builder to do a remodel for them quicker and cheaper they can find one but they will not be able to find one that can do it better than Melton. We are very happy with our kitchen and will enjoy it for years to come.

We used this company for design and construction on a whole house remodel of our 1883 house in downtown Boulder. We couldn't be more pleased. Their architect, Tom, did an amazing job of creating a plan to add a new bedroom, bathroom and laundry room upstairs, rework our formerly treacherous staircase into an architectural centerpiece, and add an awesome study. We got rid of all kinds of funk from 130 years of poor additions, and now have a beautiful family home that looks totally original but lives like a new modern house. The plan accomplished alot yet also stayed within all city building regulations, so we didn't have the hassle with the city approvals that many of our neighbors have had. The project was completed on time, and all of our neighbors commented about how fast the project went and how responsible the crews were. I've seen them start 2 new projects in our neighborhood since ours finished. I would recommend them.
