EMD Builders did several remodeling projects for us and basically modernized our whole house (it was built in the 1980's in Nashua). They replaced windows, doors, floors and trim. They had to replace rot and our house is now more structurally sound as a result. What I appreciated most was EMD Builder's responsiveness, honesty and transparency. They also very much stand behind their promise of quality. I would definitely have them come back for other projects and I have referred them to others.

We met Nate and Eric during the bidding process of a remodel project. For reasons unrelated to EMD Builders, we had to cancel our plans but found Nate and Eric to be responsive, creative, extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly. They demonstrated impeccable attention to detail, honesty, transparency, and integrity. We are disappointed that we are not able to work with them at this time and would not hesitate to call them in the future.

Nate saved the day when our hot water heater put 40 gallons of water into our basement playroom. He repaired our drywall, put up new baseboard and was quick and thorough.

We had an incredible experience working with EMD Builders. Eric, Nate and Bob were timely, professional and meticulous. We had hired EMD Builders to replace all of the trim in our house, install crown moulding, convert an office into a nursery and build a linen closet. My wife and I were not sure exactly what style of trim we wanted to go with around our windows so Eric offered to trim two windows in different styles to give us clarity. It was awesome and we felt that they took the effort to make us feel confident in our decision. We will be using EMD Builders again in the future and would absolutely recommend them to friends.

Working with EMD was a great experience from the first meeting. We had our baseboard heaters removed which left us with a lot of holes in the drywall and no baseboard trim. They were extremely professional and timely. The work turned out amazing. We will definitely use EMD in the future!

EMD Builders deserves more than just 5 stars. I've owned my home since 2014 and we've had work done by other contractors over that time and the experience we had working with EMD was on another level. They are the real deal, very accommodating to timelines and changes as the project(s) evolve. These guys have their client's best interests (costs, vision, design, quality) all in mind from start to finish. My wife and I chose to renovate our second floor which brought 80% down to the framework. The project involved changing the entire footprint, we did new hardwood floors, trim work, window casings, added an additional bathroom, remolded an existing bathroom, lighting, a new staircase, tilework, plumbing, moving closets which included a fully custom walk-in closet you name name it they did it and exceeded any expectations. The EMD team essentially rebuilt the second floor of an existing space which makes what they accomplished so much more impressive, they maximized the potential of the space with top level quality, style and craftsmanship. I can't recommend them enough! EMD Builders are professional, timely, flexible and accommodating. It's clear they take pride in their work and are customer focused, even months after the project was completed they checked in with us, we had a concern about a fixture in our new shower, these guys went out of their way and bent over backwards for us to accommodate us! I can't say enough about EMD builders Eric, Nate and the entire team are great, they felt like part of our family and still do. These guys were nothing short of exceptional. Hired EMD Builders to replace our back deck, Nate, Eric and Bob consulted with us, provided expert recommendations, we're prompt responding to questions and went above and beyond to insure we received the highest quality construction. (The building inspector even expressed how impressed he was with the quality and small details) The details that made a huge difference. Despite all the rain, kids muddy shoes and recent use the deck is looking great!! Thanks Guys! I cannot recommend them enough.

1st impressions:
1.) Initially upon meeting Eric and Nate (EMD owners) it was a good fit, they were professional, courteous and kind and were more than helpful when it came answering questions about costs, timelines and processes.
2.)They took full measurements and provided a very detailed breakdown of the work timeline, materials and labor within a week or two of our meeting.
At this point I want to point out how great it was to have a full breakdown of cost, if you’re working on a specific budget this is wildly helpful, it lets you know where you may want to cut back or choose to put your funds elsewhere.

EMD Planned Renovation:
Based on their Estimate our initial plan and budget was to do:
1.) Kitchen full gut job (including removal of structural walls) , install of new cabinets, patching in flooring. Skim coating all ceilings and baseboards.
2.) Bathroom we planned a full gut job (including moving/removing walls) , installing new flooring, cabinets, shower and tile. Skim coating all ceilings and baseboards.
3.) Bedrooms: skim coating all ceilings and baseboards.
4.) Install new entryway railing and lighting.
5.) Install new 1st floor LED lighting

Renovation Experience:
Now because of the current world situation, both myself, my spouse and our college son were at home full time during the entire renovation process. It's a bit of an odd situation when you’re trying to redo all the bedrooms, main bathroom, and kitchen/living area. But EMD set up a plan that would start the work in the bedrooms for the 1st week (so we could use them for the rest of the project) and then move onto the rest of the project in phases. This was a great plan as it let us minimize the renovation impact of our day to day lives while still allowing the renovation to progress at a good pace.

They were also extremely accommodating with other aspects of the project as well… one such example was removal/disposal of debris/garbage. Unfortunately we don’t have a driveway/yard that would allow us to have a dumpster onsite. So EMD offered to do local site cleanup and trash haul away for us on a daily basis (they did let us know ahead of time this would likely be an increase in cost compared to the dumpster, and we agreed to the extra expense).

EMD did an excellent job or coordinating the subcontractors like plumbing, electrical, tile, and supply deliveries like cabinets and countertops. One thing we particularly loved was getting little texts reminding us of upcoming work and what was planned for the week and things we may want to plan for. It really made the process and expectations clear for all parties involved.

The initial reno started on Feb/08/2021 and construction and finish work ended on Apr/01/2021
We were still waiting on Shower Glass install from Granite State Glass, this was completed on may/27/2021.

During our Renovation process we were so pleased with the communication and work that we also chose to do several add extra on's that were not originally planned/discussed.
These included:
- Front entryway custom railing
- Attic drop down stairs
- Attic insulation and venting
- Custom molding for fireplace and cabinets (kitchen and bathroom)
- Custom Cold air return run through the kitchen island toe kick
- Fully paint all walls on 1st floor

Overall Experience:
EMD was wonderful, our experience was so positive that we’ve decided to plan some additional renovations with them in the very near future.

Both Eric, Nate and Bob were a pleasure to have around, they were professional, kind and courteous. They would ask questions based on what our expectations were, and were always easy to communicate with if we had any questions or concerns about the process. And they actively encouraged us to let them know if we were not pleased with anything or if we saw flaws or defects in any materials or work.

As a whole we would 100% recommend their services to anyone, and have already passed along recommendations to both family and friends in the area.

We highly recommend EMD and their excellent work. They are an incredibly talented team that supported our custom home addition, which included the design and build of a 3-season porch remodel and deck.

Nate and Eric were flexible with our thought process and project scope change (moving from a screen porch to a 3-season) and were able to accommodate the efforts with their broad range of capability. This included demolition, pouring footings, and expertly dealing with ‘finding prizes’ (rotten board/batten, rot and structural issues) to correct and replace framing/exterior sheathing. Each instance was met with communication, discussion of options and details to move forward.

They consulted a structural engineer and ensured proper calculations to account for the New England weather (snow fall load, wind gusts, etc), expertly fortifying the new structure and tying in the existing roofline. The first night it was up but not yet shingled there was an expectation of rain. Eric and Nate returned to the roof in the dark with headlamps-to tarp the porch for protection. The accountability to the project throughout was impressive.

EMD began the project on time and their team diligently worked through the frigid winter months to achieve any and all work they could, while ensuring they kept the house buttoned up as much as possible. Addition of custom sliders was the longest delay in receipt, however once they arrived and the weather gave a peek of warmth, Eric and Nate worked tirelessly to install-demonstrating dedication to finishing out the job. The spring has us enjoying the addition, and we very much appreciate the tough winter work that the EMD team performed to get us here.

Once we determined to move to 3-season, the window install was quickly performed, and true discussion of the aesthetic began. This is another area that EMD shines. The beautiful result we have with custom woodwork and cathedral ceiling with exposed wrapped beams- a uniquely beautiful space that stemmed from their ingenuity. In each instance, Nate brought forward options and discussion points for our input and we had helpful decision-making sessions.

From their original quote, to pricing addendums with the change in scope of the remodel, their communication was excellent and pricing fair. This was important to us, with the work being performed at a time of rising costs and material delays (due to Covid), EMD was thoughtful with updates on work to be performed, as well as arrival dates and helped to manage expectations.

The result is something we are extremely happy with and so proud of, and this team really made it happen. They’re friendly and flexible, we enjoyed having them be a part of our home for the term-and they're also able to work well with livestock . We highly recommend this team!

Nate and Eric are great to work with! They replaced my tired, worn out front door and sidelight with a custom Spanish Maple beauty. Will definitely hire them again when needed and I highly recommend them.

We had our second floor master bedroom bathroom en-suite done. We combined two bedrooms to make a beautiful spacious master with a master bath en-suite and double walk in closet. Despite having this big job done during Covid, the job was complete during the promised time. All of the workers that were involved with this project were courteous, clean and punctual. Nate and Eric were great to work with. I would not hesitate to have them work on another project in the future for us!!

EMD did a great job refinishing our dingy stairs and replacing the old handrails and wood balusters with new iron balusters. Nate was very flexible to work with given some challenges we encountered (I ordered wrong materials and had to reorder some). Price was fair and quality was excellent.

Eric and his team (EMD) did a superb job making sure that my family could enjoy our raised Trex backyard sun deck for many many more years. Even though the floor and railings of my 20-year-old backyard deck looked in great shape, its surface was not level in places. EMD came out and found that the understructure was giving out and that pressure-treated (PT) wood had not been used when originally built. I got 2 estimates from EMD, one for totally demolishing the deck and building a complete brand new deck, and another for keeping the Trex surface and railings, replacing the rotting wood understructure with PT wood, and making sure the deck was level. I chose the second approach, also the less expensive one. Eric wrote up a detailed design and construction plan, had my town's building inspector approve it, acquired the replacement PT beams, put in more concrete structures in the ground for more vertical support beams, jacked the deck up, constructed a very solid, elegant-looking understructure, and made sure the deck was as level as new, all in a very short time. The relatively young,middle-aged building inspector confirmed the excellent work and said it would last way past his own lifetime. It feels great to once again walk on a level deck surface and recline on lounge chairs, knowing that the rock-solid deck will keep me, my family and friends safe and steady, dancing 12 feet up off the ground for many sunny days and cool starry evenings, and stay good through many harsh winters too.

Brothers Eric and Nate are initially nice - I even spent two hours with them to help them with ideas for their Website/Internet strategy at no cost. Contracted (have the signed contract and check deposit) them to add some character to my fireplace and paint the entire work. They started demolition work without covering my 3-year old wood floors, next day after some construction work I noticed hammer dings and gouges from tools near the fireplace where they were working - still flooring not covered. Comment I got from Nate, where do we stop correcting the issues with the floor. Some of the wood floor was then covered. But still areas were not and additional gouges occurred. Paper Coffee cups with coffee were place and left on an antique table and on wood bare floors. Construction ladder placed on artwork on wall. Greasy tools placed on blanket on furniture. Professionalism on cleaning and Communication is very lacking (needed to keep specifying the need to be kept up-to-date (just 2 minutes a day) and to clean up at day end. Issues with Finisher who doesn't communicate, didn't scribe wood to wall (huge gap - cannot fill with caulk), wood buckling, areas not properly sanded, wood filled or caulked (did repeatedly ask about this and was assured would be taken care of prior to painting) - and of course it was not. Their painter came in and work was horrific! All kinds of drips, drops, hair, huge craters and valleys were left by the paint brush. The job was terrible. I brought in specialists to give me their professional opinion on the fixing the floor, paint, and some of the carpentry work. It was going to cost more than the original project amount.

After 5 weeks; for a two week estimated project - I kicked them out. They would not usually work a full day - wouldn't come for several days, etc. Nate called me on a Monday after Eric didn't show up for a meeting on Thursday/Friday - no one had come all week. I asked for my initial deposit back because of the issues and problems with the job and the price it would cost to fix all their mistakes. They both got angry with me over the phone and started to question my character and the professionals I brought in, and called the police informing them 'I was stealing - not giving them their tools back.' BTW - I had their tools nicely packed in the garage awaiting Eric to come by that prior week and they were still packaged in the garage on Monday (have all the pictures). When I contacted the police to have them here at the house for Nate or Eric to pick up their tools; an angry Nate starting call me AxxHole, trash talked my wife and sons - all while the police were present listening to Nate carry on. I wanted the police there because of how they were screaming at me over the phone and questioning my character. Glad I requested that they be at the house during Nate's pickup.

I will never use them and in my opinion I would not recommend anyone ever using their (again my opinion) awful services. Now it will cost me a lot more to have the floors fixed, carpentry work fixed, and paint job (sanded, areas filled, and repainted). I do have a significant amount of pictures of the shoddy work and the damages they caused. The list is too great to mention everything here in the post.

If I could give them a zero out of five I would.

EMD Builders was the best decision we’ve made for our home. Their quality, consultation and work is outstanding. Our upstairs was two bedroom, small bath and open landing. EMD was able to add a beautiful kids bath with full shiplap walls, a true master suite with custom walk in closet, custom built-ins, master bathroom with large walk-in shower and brand new hardwoods throughout the upstairs. The project grew and included new stair treads and iron balusters. They remodeled our entire upstairs and gave us years on the life of us in the house. They were meticulous throughout the remodel and were proactive about options and recommendations. They met the timeline for completion, were competitively priced and show incredible pride in the quality of their work. They have a full service team of contractors with plumbers and tiling. Our remodel came out better then we could have imagined thanks to them and their hard work!

EMD builders went above and beyond my expectations. I have a house built in the 1700s and needed to have a room completely redone due to some water damage. These guys were able to accommodate my need for a quick turnaround because the room had been gutted all the way up to the uninsulated attic and winter was setting in. They were able to work around the challenges an old house poses (uneven floors, slanted beams, uneven walls, etc). The finished room looks great. They were even able to match some new floor pieces with the old floor that was there. This was all done for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend EMD builders for your next project.

Eric and Nate installed new double windows in two rooms of my home where there were single windows previously. They did an excellent job.
