Following hail damage in my neighborhood, my insurance adjuster finding NO hits! The adjuster was wrong!

Master Craft Roofing (Ed Murray, 378-7663) came by a week later and pointed out the damage on my fascia, the roof turtles, and the neighboring houses. How could my shingles have escaped being hit? My next door neighbors were getting their roofs replaced. Why wasn't I? According to Ed, Oklahoma Law requires insurance companies to send a second adjuster look at your roof at no cost to you. Also, Oklahoma Law says the insurance company has to replace the roof if you have 8 hits per 100 square feet. Ed paid somebody to show up before the ajuster and draw circles around the hits. Long of the short--I got a TOTAL roof replacement. If you see lots of damage on the fascia, turtles, vinyl siding, and neighbors' house, then you probably need to have your roof replaced. You might want to call Ed or somebody else you trust.

Good Words About Ed: Ed doesn't require you to sign a power of attorney. He doesn't use staples. He will use hammers or air guns--your choice. He doesn't ask to be paid until the entire job is done and the yard has been cleaned up. He protected my shrubbery and air conditioning units. He used magnets to pick up nails on my lawn. He put metal down in the valleys and painted all the pipes on my roof black to match the shingles. He runs background checks on the workers to ensure none have criminal records. AND--he did it in two days!

How could my first adjuster have been so wrong? The first adjuster said hail hit my roof and knocked grit off my shingles but said it didn't count because the hits didn't penetrate the shingles. The problem is that alternate heat and cold will cause shingles with the grit knocked off to leak in a few years. A good insurance company, it will replace your roof if you have that kind of damage.

I had concerns because Ed’s company isn’t one of the big names who do a lot of advertising. It turns out that here in the Oklahoma City area there are lots of independent roof contractors. In many cases Ed uses the same contractors for his repairs that the big name companies with the billboards use.

I lived in Norman and have several rental properties around the Oklahoma City metro. To date, I have used Mastercraft Roofing 7 times in the past 3 years due to the hail storms we have experienced in central Oklahoma.

The sales people at Mastercraft know the insurance property claims process. On 3-4 occations they have met my insurance company rep at the property and made sure that everything that was damaged/dented in the storm was noted and paid for by insurance. They handled all of my insurance paperwork and invoiced the insurance company after the work was finished. This was a big help because I also run a business full time and don't have the time to deal with all the insurance issues on each property.

Each time I have used Mastercraft they have finished the work on time and left the property clean after the work was completed. In addition to roofing my properties they have also installed guttering for me, a carport, vinyl siding several times and replaced fencing that had blown down in a storm. I like the fact that I can call them and they will handle everything instead of my having to hire several different repair contractors. I hire Mastercraft Roofing as the general contractor and the handle all of the repairs. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them in the future.
