Tom and his crew are professional and responsive. They completed all exterior and interior work quickly and Tom is very knowledgeable on all things log cabin!

I feel like I can finally take a breath of releif knowing my 18 year-old log home has been completely restored to my satisfaction. Thomas at Log Home Finishing and the young men that completed the work went above and beyond my expectations. The materials used and the professional applications were amazing. All the checks were filled and logs stained and clear coated. I would recommend them to anyone with a true log home. If you want the best job, hire the best. Like any trade, you get what you pay for.

We purchased a 20-year old log home in 2022 that seemed to be in very good shape when we purchased it. The previous owner had taken great pride in maintaining his home, but upon closer inspection UV and mold had damaged the patina of the exterior logs, the interior logs were dirty, and chinking needed replacement or reapplication both indoors and out. Additionally, some weather-exposed logs had begun to rot. We contacted Thomas Elliott and Log Home Finishing to assess the work and a week later we were under contract.

The work began in the heart of the alpine winter. Because of weather-related delays (the products LHF uses are water-based and cannot be reliably applied below 40 degrees) the project took a lot longer than projected. Yet the LHF crew never appeared to make an effort to rush the job, which is surprisingly labor-intensive and detail-oriented (other reviews mention their chinking process, which is almost art-like in its precision). Communication with both Tom and Jeff (the site PM) was excellent throughout, and we never felt as if the crew was taking shortcuts to speed up the project. The crew was polite, pleasant, friendly, and attentive. I am honestly going to miss having them around.

In the end, results are all that matters. And we are extraordinarily pleased with the results! The interiors look warm and inviting, and the exteriors look solid and rustic. We are glad we engaged Log Home Finishing on our project. Thanks, Tom & crew!

Great communication, worked through some interesting weather on my partner’s cabin built in 1937 in cascade Colorado, wouldn’t hesitate to use them again for log restoration!

Log Home finishing did an external restoration on our home near Boulder. It was much needed and long overdue. The transformation was impressive, and the crew was great to have there working. They were very professional, detail oriented and conscientious. The job was finished in the time frame we expected and we were very happy with the whole experience.

Log Home Finishing worked on our 2600 sq. ft. log home in Fairplay. It was a fairly large and complicated project, with full exterior staining, filling cracks inside and out, a significant amount of chinking, and a bit of rot repair. Thomas brought in a good crew; I spent some time with them while they worked, and it was clear they take pride in their work. They were thorough and punctual, and they finished everything in the bid within the time estimate that Thomas initially gave me. Thomas sent regular updates with photos, and was very easy to reach by phone and email. The whole experience was good from start to finish.

We could see the “yellow” as our cabin came into view tucked in the distance blending meticulously now with it’s bright, clean log look among the yellows & gold's of the Aspen’s autumn leaves highlighting its presence among them. In sharp distraction to the dark greens of the Bristlecone Pine it was candy to the eye boldly standing at the end of the driveway. Christmas & Disneyland type excitement flowed at what we were seeing. Breathless exhilaration over took us! Tom, Chris and their crew had done their magic.
As we walked in awe around the outside we saw the diligence & pride they had taken in their work - done as they said they would. The wide stairs that had been beaten with the use of metal snow shovels, the decks wear & tear appearing as chiseled out unwanted, unmatched ugly black designs was gone and smooth! No more slices of black color on the flatness of the deck floors. The vents we had previously replaced due to others staining over the brilliant contrast of the silver color still showed brightly. Attention to detail? Unsurpassed! The logs tucked in the corners of the deck where snow had accumulated & rain & heat had blackened them to the dark ugly color they had become over the last 20 years was gone. The countless hardened drips along the deck railings & individual logs created by previous stainers no longer existed! All was replaced by that smooth, glistening yellow new pine color that we so desired; a color Tom picked & Tom & Chris assured us would meet our goal. Their choice of caulking was also precise.
Our conversations with the foreman, Chris & later two crew men who were attentively working when we arrived to take a peak, were diligent, knowledgeable & especially proud of their work; especially the hand sanding of rails they were doing for that ‘final” touch. Artistry & skill. They were likeable & we enjoyed their explaining (while listening to our inquiries) the skills needed for a successful job completion.
At their work’s conclusion the dark rugged logs, log furniture, decks, rails & benches that unwanted, unpolished look of our retreat was gone. The frustration of years trying to find a “good” person to stain & renew the look of our cabin was over.

We will use LOG HOME FINISHING in the years to come as needed.

He was also able to start the job a couple of weeks earlier than anticipated, and he and his crew were efficient without sacrificing quality. We loved that he sent pictures over the course of the job so we could see the difference. And what a difference they made! Great team to work with. Showed up at initial consultation right on time. Sent proposal later same day. Started and finished project at the exact times stated. Sent us photo updates as we were out of town which was very helpful. Our house looks like new. Not the cheapest option but the final product was impressive. I would compare this company with Nordstrom and others would likely have been Target quality (based on experience of another neighbor that used someone else). My other neighbor used these guys as well in the past. His log home looks great even a few years later. He was very pleased as well so I went with his recommendation as well. Great choice!

Our log home looks so good after Tom and his crew removed and then replaced chinking. It looks better that it ever has. The house was built in 1954 and needed this upgrade badly.

We used Log Home Finishing to redo the logs on our 1950’s cabin. The logs had not been maintained, and were extremely weather-beaten. They were dried out, missing chinking, and black in many places. We didn’t know how well they would be able to be restored. Thomas’ crew did a combination of media blasting and hand-sanding, followed by staining and rechinking. We were very impressed by the quality of the work and amazed that they were able to bring our logs back to looking good again.

Tom & his crew executed a full interior & exterior log home restoration for our 6,000 sq ft log home in Sugarloaf, outside of Boulder, CO. After 25 years of neglect and zero maintenance, they had their work cut out for them to bring our home back to it’s original beauty. From start to finish, Tom was wonderful to work with. He & his crew were extremely responsive, professional, proactive & completed our project within the time range he estimated it would take. On top of that, they executed our project to perfection - going above & beyond to bring our log home back to life. Tom and his workers did an amazing job of rebuilding our deck and chinking in Indian Mountain last summer. We had just purchased the log home and called Log Home Finishing for some chinking repairs suggested by the home inspector (honestly had never even heard the word before Tom educated us on the origins of the word chinking) and were delighted to find out that they work with a group of different contractors who can handle all aspects of construction. Tom was there every day organizing the different trades and getting things done. We couldn’t be more happy with the finished product. Highly recommend!

We could not be happier with the outstanding work that was performed on our 45 year-old log home. Tom's amazing crew sand-blasted, custom - sanded, and stained all the logs comprising our home and sealed the space between the logs. Thomas and crew did a fantastic job of repairing and restoring the historic Octagonal Barn in Bergen Park, a 100 year old Jefferson County historic building. Very professional and courteous. Looks better than new. Restored our wood railings instead of replacing them with steel. Not only looks nice, but saved us a ton. Cleaned up and even washed our windows. Finished right on schedule, working through the snow. Best in Colorado.

We purchased our dream house in the mountains, but it needed a little love to become home. It has big beautiful logs, but they were poorly maintained -- maybe neglected -- by the prior owner. And the wonderful logs had been painted over with a solid stain that took away all the character, was an unappealing vomit-like color, and didn't seal them properly.

After consulting with a couple of different contractors, we settled on this one -- and couldn't be happier. They started work about a week after we closed on the purchase, and worked furiously in the dead of winter to refinish the interior and exterior logs. This winter was particularly unkind, but they worked in below freezing temperatures, always with a pleasant attitude. Jeff and Jared, the two primary workers, really went above and beyond to help us from start to finish. And the final project -- gorgeous!

I especially appreciated the crew's consistent professionalism - and superlative helpfulness. If we offered a request or suggestion, they responded, "no problem, we can do that" every time. Plus, I enjoyed their company. I have to say, I'm gonna kind of miss having them around.

Tom and his crew stained and chinked our home in Placer Valley and we couldn't be happier with their work! They even sanded off the chalk marks that TJ's used during construction, filled all the larger checks in the logs and stained all the trim. They even did a fantastic job of cleaning, l think the outside was actually cleaner when they left (still an active construction site).

Tom Elliott and crew of master log smiths of Log Home Finishing were a game changer for the condition of our log home with great communication along the way.

While I had trouble getting a quote or event attention from other companies, Tom was very responsive and was able to schedule me just a few weeks out. His background is in chemistry so sees each job as a chemistry project, choosing the right products for the need. Tom was very informative and patiently answered my ton of questions that helped me understand the process needed, which ultimately convinced me to go with LHF. I really valued the willing and open communication which continued while watching and learning a bit from the crew Mark, Cody, and Erron.

While the previous owner had done their best for years to maintain the exterior with hardware store grade stain, log surfaces had deteriorated over time. To reset the clock on our logs, worked performed by the crew included interior chinking (prevent powerwash from entering), exterior powerwash, exterior staining (2 coats), and exterior chinking. Log restoration fill was also necessary in a couple of areas where rot had begun.

Tom sold me on the Sashco transformation stain and conceal chinking products - I believe the chemist. In the end, they did “transform” our logs from a leaky dry-yellow to a well-sealed goldtone. Maintenance from here should only be every 5-8 years at a much lower cost, something we plan to schedule with Log Home Finishing.

Thomas Elliott with Log Home Finishing, LLC was such a helpful guide when I discovered my newly purchased log home was riddled with rotten logs! He helped me diagnose my problem through pictures and discussed workable solutions, even those through other contractors. He was more interested in helping me solve the problem than getting paid. Call them first!

Chinking was a very labor intensive process. Workers were polite, considerate and cleaned up daily.
The results made a major difference in the interior temperature nd comfort level. I am also anticipating
Lower heating bills. Exterior repair of rotted logs was a work of art and will provide support without
altering views. Once work was started, there were no interruptions until work wAs completed. The budget
as presented was the final price. I would happily recommend The integrity of Log Home Finishing experience.

We were delighted with our decision to use Log Home Finishing to refinish our log home! All of Thomas' workers were polite, friendly, very capable and VERY professional. They truly took pride in doing good quality work. (We'll kind of miss having them around....so will our puppies!)
