$15,300 was the quote for the following services:

1) Sink/Countertop/fixtures/painting in Bathroom 1
2) Sink/Countertop/bathtub/painting/fixtures in Bathroom 2
3) Sink/Countertop/fixtures/shower/painting in bathroom 3 (Master Bath)
4) Replace hanging kitchen lights and dining room chandelier
5) Repair living room ceiling crack
6) Disassemble and move shed in driveway to backyard and reassemble

Luis Saldana was paid a $5000 deposit upon initial quote which he cashed before any work was performed. On April 18th he requested another $2500 check despite work being started on the first two jobs, but nothing was completed. I reluctantly agreed to pay him on the condition that he return that weekend to disassemble and move the shed. He did not, cashed the check on April 19th, and took that day off and April 20th to celebrate his birthday. He returned on April 21st to discuss completing the job by May 9th which Luis, my wife, and I agreed on. The only completed job on this list is job 1. Job 2 is mostly completed, job 3 is demo'd. Luis wants to be paid in thirds, and I agreed to pay him on thirds for completed jobs, not partially completed work performed. Luis works when he wants to and wants to be paid when he wants to not when he completes the jobs. If this was a $5000 or less job it wouldn't bother me so much. So he walks off the job, with two incomplete bathrooms with bathtubs that aren't usable and we've got an 8 week old infant to care for. So I've submitted a small claims case to reimburse me $2241 of the $7800 I've paid him. He can keep $5000 plus $559 in materials.

Don't ever hire and if you do, only pay him for materials and when all the work is completed to your satisfaction.
