Let me start off by saying in our 40 years living in our house ,doing various improvements through the years, LA Design has been by far the best company we have ever worked with. From the design team to the crew to Larry Sr himself, every step has been far easier then we had even hoped. Over the years, we have dealt with many different companies ,and have always struggled to have them show up every day. LA Design was here every day, no exception. Larry Sr kept us informed daily as to what would be done that day, and it seemed there was nothing we asked that was met with any opposition. I can honestly say that they turned a house we already loved into our forever dream home . We already have another project we are planning ,and its so refreshing to know we wont have to shop around for contractors. LA Design it will be!

This is a review of their customer service not of their actual work. I’m sure based on other reviews and recommendations that their work is quite nice. Unfortunately, I could not get someone to follow through with giving me a quote for work on my house. I live right in town where they are located and everyone always highly recommended them so I filled out a request on their website for three small jobs I needed completed. These were not big projects, they were small jobs around my house that I explained in detail to them on the request on their website, asking for an estimate. Someone responded promptly and came to my house, he was very nice, at no point during that time did he indicate that these jobs were too small for them. He told me that they were a little behind and I would have the estimate in about 10 days.A month went by and I never heard from them. I reached out and asked if they could get me an estimate soon because I had other estimates coming in. They apologize for the delay and said they would have it to me in a week, well it’s been seven months. I never heard from them again and I did not bother to reach out because I feel that if you can’t at least take the time to give me an estimate, you don’t value me very much as a customer. In speaking with a neighbor, they had this exact same experience where it was not a big job and no one ever gave them the estimate after coming out. I share this because I think they probably do excellent work and maybe The management there should be looking into what is going on. I would have had no issue if they came and told me these jobs are too small for them, but I think it is so rude to come out act interested in the job and then never respond again. Fortunately, I was able to find other good quality businesses to help me with what I needed to get done.

We had a fantastic experience renovating our new home with LA Design + Construction. Kevin met with us and did a walk-through of all of the projects we had in mind, offering helpful advice and expertise. We received an estimate that thoroughly itemized the work to be done as well as materials involved. Once construction was underway, Kevin oversaw and managed his team throughout the entire process, and also made sure to ask us about details we may have otherwise overlooked. We are so happy with the quality of the work and the speed at which LA was able to complete it. We highly recommend Kevin and the crew at LA Design + Construction and will definitely be calling them in the future.

My wife and I hired LA Design & Construction for home renovations - complete redoing of a bathroom, a new HVAC (split unit) system, painting, new light fixtures, and more. We were VERY happy with their work / services. They communicated clearly, the project managers were a pleasure to deal with, their budgets for materials were realistic, their interior designer was very helpful and patient, and they made sure our satisfaction was top priority. Any little thing that wasn't to our satisfaction was addressed in a timely manner. We were nervous about hiring a contractor, but they earned our trust for future work.

Amazing experience with the roofing team. They were fast, clean and attentive. Kevin is responsive and a dream to work with!

My basement got flooded week between Christmas and new years. They came SAME DAY and didn’t leave until all the carpet was ripped out and dry wall was cut (well past dinner time). I talked to another company and they couldn’t even get someone out to assess the damage until the next morning. These guys work fast and efficient. They came the next day to disinfect again. I’ve already encountered multiple people from their crew and everyone has been professional and even nice… which isn’t always guaranteed. Will update the review once restoration/repairs are completed.

Larry from LA Design and his team did a great job executing our vision for outdoor entrances to our headquarters building that serves many families from the community. He helped us come up with creative solutions to a few challenges, and worked hard to make sure we loved the finished job -- which we do! Excellent work. Thank you!

Wanted to drop a quick review…I never really do this but had a great experience with LA construction. Matt and his crew are awesome. We had a small project that I just wasn’t willing to take on myself and we called the right guys. They came in and seamlessly put in a new door for us. Matt said when he measured that “we’ll get the door in quick and it will look like we weren’t even here”. Very impressed. Would recommend and use them again!

Excellent workmanship! Quality work, people, responsiveness. I highly recommend this company for anything you might to do! They rescued me from a terrible construction experience and I won’t use anyone else for work.

“Water damage” must be two of the most horrifying words a home owner can hear. After ServPro completely dropped the ball on mitigation services (apparently, they “should lose their mitigation license” over their negligence and ineptitude), thankfully the insurance company recommended LA Design. Anthony was twice as responsive and professional as ServPro was not, and he immediately took control and mitigated not just all the damage/ mold, but also my anxiety.
His repair crew (thank you, Joe!) was prompt, fast, polite, professional, and conscientious, and everything was done in a satisfactorily timely manner. Also, Anthony was communicative every step of the way, and eased all my insurance concerns.

I had a horrible mishap that occurred in my condo unit late July 2022 re fire sprinkler water damage. After mitigation was completed I needed to hire a contractor that could assist with the repairs needed and was very overwhelmed as not many contractors want to deal with insurance companies! Larry Sr. was my life-saver and angel. He arrived mid Oct. and put my mind at ease that he could help me with this disaster on my hands. This company has experience working along with insurance companies which all may know can be literally draining/exhausting! Larry Sr. told me once started on the job he stays with the job until completed and this did happen! The job took 2.5 weeks for completion with repairing walls; ceilings; painting walls and ceilings that occurred from water/chemical damages; grouting floors; and entire cleaning up of unit. His whole team was clean and got the job done in no time; the work was PERFECT and I was able to sell this unit in no time after this disaster! If anyone has to hire a company with the same type of work needed like me PLEASE call LA Design & Contractors as the job will get done and right with Larry Sr. and his exceptional team workers! Larry Sr. spent time during the repair work texting and calling me with updates with the job and along with insurance information. Larry Sr. and the LA Design Contractors are FIVE STARS PLUS!!! Last year our home suffered hail damage resulting in the need to replace almost everything on the exterior of our home which we have owned for 29 years. We needed to find experts in an area in which we had no experience.

After interviewing 15 contractors, all of whom were recommended, we decided to work with Larry Steimel Sr. and LA Design because of their great reputation and expertise.

It is important to remember that we undertook this project when building materials were experiencing weekly price increases (literally) and availability was scarce. In short, Larry’s team goes over and above what was promised. Every. Day.

Before we discuss project details, Larry and LA Design’s value is not just as an exceptional builder and contractor. Larry is someone whom insurance companies and their adjusters rely on to evaluate insurance claim “issues.” This helped us enormously before the project began. When I showed Larry our insurance company's engineer’s hail damage report, he immediately stated that there was far more damage than I had been aware of.

One of Larry's specialists spent several hours inspecting the exterior of our property. He then created a report, complete with the required Xactimate Estimate and scores of pictures to support his findings/conclusions.

Mr. Steimel then worked directly with the insuror, on our behalf, resulting in our receiving multiple times the amount initially offered to provide. We were not charged this service.

Back to the project which involved:
• Creation of roof extensions on all sides of the house
• Removing/replacing the roof/skylights/fan
• Removing 2 layers of siding and insulation, replacing with new siding & house wrap
• Removing/replacing gutters & leaders
• Replacement of 10 windows with new construction windows (which require interior finishing work)
• Replacement of lower deck sliding door (finishing work also required)
• Portico creation (drawings, permits, inspections) and building precisely to spec
• Removing/replacing limestone sills, stair treads & front-of-house landing with bluestone
• Rebuilding/pointing the brick front steps & landing
• Replacing the railing on front steps and landing
• Replacing garage doors & openers
• Demoing/pouring a new garage apron
• Removing/replacing the existing asphalt driveway
• Staining front of the house brick and chimney (multiple colors/coats)
• Pointing brick around our in-ground pool and replacing a large limestone cap behind our pool area
• Transforming the look of the entire house with wide white corners, freeze boards, wide/white trim and more
• Aligning the back of the house with the two-story deck built 5 years earlier
• Removing/replacing the shed roof and siding
• Transforming the look of the shed to completely match

The project was complex, with many moving parts. Andrew Steimel, the project manager, was on site daily and exhibited great attention to detail.

Some FAQS:
1) Did the project start on time? It started 3 days BEFORE agreed!
2) How was the workmanship? LA Design has over 40 employees – carpenters, masons, siding experts, roofing experts, inside painters, outside painters, etc. They do superb work and extensively clean up every evening before departing
3) How long to complete the project? 5 weeks from start to punch list and the extreme June & July heat didn’t impact at all.
4) Were there any issues? Yes, but they were minor….all immediately addressed and rectified (often same day)
5) Any damage to landscaping/shrubs? Minor and all grew back within a month
6) Did the budget hold? Absolutely! In fact, the team went above and beyond at no charge! They treated our home as if it was their own
7) Responsiveness? They instantaneously responded to text messages & answered all calls regardless of time/day! Some texts resulted in immediate phone conversations, saving time and eliminating potential misunderstandings
8) Are we satisfied? On a scale of 0 to 100, I would score them 200! I could not recommend them more highly!
9) Would we use them again? We absolutely will!

Excellent experience from start to finish. One key feature here is having a Project Manager overseeing the work and inspecting along the way. Will use again!

Quality, dedication, professionalism, true to word, trustworthy, helpful, knowledgable, accommodating, timely, reputable...we can go on and on. Larry and his crew were top notch. Choosing to have our house sided was a very big decision for us. We dragged our heels for years as we wanted to keep the country esthetic of the home and were afraid that vinyl siding would distract from it. The LA Design & Construction team assured us that the esthetics would be enhanced versus lost. They were absolutely correct. Their recommended choice of siding color for us was spot on. We are so very happy with the final result.

Recently, we had to have some outside gas line pipes refitted into the house. LA Design & Construction sent over someone to remove a few of the siding pieces to enable the plumber to do his job. Once the plumbing job was finished, they accommodated us again and had the siding put back in place. THANK YOU!!

As a sidebar, our work was done during the bitter cold of winter and a blizzard. Ensuring the safety of the crew was first and foremost on Larry's mind and ours. We were so incredibly impressed with the work ethic and craftsmanship abilities of the fellas who continued to show up every day to get the job done. Such hardy, dedicated and skilled employees!

LA Design & Construction checked off all of our boxes and then some. They certainly are a fantastic company to work with and we highly recommend that you consult and hire them for your next project!

We cannot express our appreciation enough for the phenomenal craftsmanship that Larry & his crew did for us. We needed an handicap-accessible bathroom and bedroom after my husband's surgery. We had limited space in our cape-style house. He made use of every inch---creating a beautiful and stylish master bedroom suite with accessible bathroom, walk-in closet, barn doors. Where new wood flooring was needed, sanding and staining impeccably matched the old. The new crown molding matched perfectly. Although we were out of town during this project, it was as if we were there in person. Larry communicated with us daily. He took all of the concerns away from us, even storing and preserving our paintings, furniture and clothing. LA Design is a company of Excellence!

Using LA Design and Construction was the best decision we made when deciding to remodel our master bath. From the initial consult, to the design, support on finishes, the build, and constant updates on the plan, Larry and his crew were total professionals. In August of 2020 a large tree fell on our house during a hurricane and caused an immense amount of internal and external damage to our residence. We were completely overwhelmed. Thankfully, LA Design and Construction was recommended to us and responded immediately. Andrew Steimel has walked us through the process of filing the claim with the insurance and then doing all of the repairs inside and out over the last 9 months. He dealt with the insurance company repeatedly making sure that everything was fully covered (including additional damage and issues that were uncovered during the renovation). He helped us make the hundreds of decisions required to rebuild our house and oversaw the many LA design crews who performed the work. He was constantly available to us and truly went above and beyond to make this process as painless as possible. We honestly can't speak highly enough of him. The crews sent to do the work were all meticulous and excellent. We are so proud and excited to show off our new and improved house!

This is the best construction company around, The owner himself, Larry Sr. and son Andrew make themselves available every day. They don’t just send workers over, they come in themselves on a daily basis to the jobsite.

La Design just finished a full office build out for me. This is the third project they have done and it turned out better than expected. The office build was done on time for our move with no issues. I have been a client of LA for the past three years, and worked with them on two large and a few small projects. Their knowledge of construction, quality of work and customer focus are extraordinary. Here are some details:

Knowledge: LA is not your usual run-of-the-mill contractors. These are people with serious knowledge and deep expertise. The president of the organization constructed his first home as a teenager. They knew right stores, material and people for different aspects of construction, and worked with us to help us make right and timely decisions. They understand old homes as well as newer trends in construction, and can bridge the gap. Because of this, they were able to make an accurate early assessment for the gut renovation project of our 100 year old home. Building real-world things is not like constructing and destroying virtual worlds using legos or Roblox - it require hard skill, patience and precision. I have presented them with difficult problems during our renovations, and they found creative solutions for all of them.

Quality: There's a common belief that we can only get two of good / fast / cheap in a project. I think what we get from LA is outstanding / fast / commensurate. They may not be the cheapest, but we need cheap work for transient things - those that we use and throw away in a day or a week. We are talking about home where we spend our days and nights for years. Now onto some concrete examples: The floor in our kitchen which we fully remodeled had a slope and a height gap compared to the adjacent dining area. We were okay with it and wanted to compensate for this gap by placing the island over it. LA would have nothing of that. They ripped out the floor a second time, leveled it and redid it perfectly, all at their own expense, even after we said we were okay with it. A second example: we had a large outdoor patio floor which had subtle cracks, leaking rain water into the basement. LA did multipe water tests and identified the source of the leaks, totally ripped out the floor and redid it meticulously. The leaks that could not be fixed by our previous owners for many years were gone within two weeks.

Customer-centric: Construction projects are stressful to the owners and contractors. In the case of LA, they make it painless and here's how they do it: because of their knowledge of the field, they first of all make good estimation. Because of the quality of their work, very little went against plan. And to top it all, they truly connect with their customers. One example: we had signed off on the layout for the shower area in our remodeled bathroom. However, after tiles were laid out, we realized that it was too narrow to use. We raised it to LA and they worked their magic and expanded the already completed floor area & wall, and moved the saddle out without making it look like patchwork. Special mention: our best friend has been Lindsay who embodies LA's culture of expertise, meticulousness and customer-obsession. Lindsay wore her designer hat and suggested right fixtures, paints, tiles, etc. that will flow with the style of the home. The value these recommendations brought to the project cannot be overstated.

One final word - I had some thought-provoking conversations with the president of LA on his views on the company. He is a leader who takes care of his employees as much as he thinks about his customers. It's a pleasure to meet and work with such smart and forward-looking leaders.

We had a fire on Thanksgiving that destroyed our family home. Our insurance company left it up to us to take care of boarding up the house, which was an impossible task on a long holiday weekend. However, on Black Friday when everyone else was enjoying the holidays LA Design showed up. Within an hour they had the house boarded up and told us, "Don't worry about a thing, we will handle everything." Those words would turn out to be their mantra the entire process of the rebuild.

Their knowledge of the insurance process made it possible to secure every penny available to us by our insurance company without issue. Even when we ran into trouble with our bank issuing funds, they did not stop work like other companies would have for non-payment. LA Design kept working and knew exactly how to handle the situation. They just went above and beyond for everything.

The work that they do is outstanding. They are true craftsmen and employ some of the best workers around. The house they built for us is truly beautiful and we couldn't say enough about it.

During the construction we rented a house nearby, allowing us to stop in at any time to check on the progress and nearly every time Larry Jr. or Larry Sr. were on site. In the rare chance they were not there, if we called with questions they would make it a priority to stop by.

Larry Jr. and Larry Sr. didn't see this as constructing just a house for us, but building our home. They understood the pain we were going through and actually listened to everything we had to say. They were humble, caring and had a great sense of humor, making the entire process a lot easier than it could have been. You hear horror stories about contractors, and this was quite the opposite. We can't thank them enough

I would just like to say I have never experienced a business operation like la design. I mostly dealt with Andrew and Lindsay and they exceeded my expectations. I have renovated twice in Hoboken and it was a nightmare I swore I would never do it again, I was forced to because of a chimney fire this time and they made everything so simple it was ridiculous. Not knowing the business I really didn't know what to expect or look for but they were here every step of the way with a cool demeanor advice and kept me centered. We recently used LA Design for our addition/renovation project (add-a-level, dining room addition, renovation of existing space, roof and siding replacement) and could not be happier with the entire experience. From our first consultation with Larry Sr. to working with Julia on our kitchen layout to interfacing with Larry Sr., Larry Jr. and Andrew on all aspects of the project while it was underway, the entire team made us feel comfortable and confident the entire way.

LA stuck to our original agreed-upon budget and schedule (even after learning shortly before breaking ground that a portion of the job required an unexpected variance). There was always a full crew on site (literally not a single day went by where significant progress wasn’t made) and Larry Sr. was ALWAYS available by phone to discuss any questions or address any emergency situations regardless of time or day. We were especially appreciative of Larry and company always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we were completely satisfied with the job, always making us feel that our satisfaction was their biggest concern.

I really can't say enough good things about my experience with Larry Sr. and team. We were facing a major overhaul after a pipe burst right after the new year. This compounded with some previous damage from a pair of roof leaks and a burst water heater. Long story short: water is not our friend. Add to that the fact that my wife was in her third trimester and it was a recipe for disaster.

Larry Sr. arrived on the scene and immediately instilled a sense of calm. We had met with a handful of contractors that were either very cavalier about the scope of work or very alarmist. Larry Sr. took charge and immediately and thoroughly started compiling an estimate on the spot. He also noted that they have worked directly with our insurance company and that he would negotiate directly, something the other contractors never even brought up. Over the course of the next several weeks -- in which time were moved out of our home and praying that the baby did not come before we made it back -- the team worked at a furious pace and still managed to keep everything under control. We received a daily update with photos of progress, and were given suggestions but never felt pressured as it related to everything from paint color to floor stains. Our place looks brand new and, more importantly, is more structurally sound.

I would whole-heartedly recommend the LA Design team to anyone that will listen, especially if you are looking to remove yourself from the headache of volleying back and forth with insurance adjusters.

Larry and Julia built an amazing built-in in our bedroom and we would couldn't be happier with the design and outcome! They were responsive, punctual and easy to work with. I would recommend them highly to anyone!

We recently had LA Design and Construction put new roofing and siding on our house. We had other similar quotes, but none with the attention to detail and attentiveness that was shown to us by Larry and the LA team. Inclement weather delayed the project a few days here and there, but we received daily updates on the status of our project and updated timeline. Larry stopped by the house every day to make sure things were moving along appropriately. They even installed a new front door for us at no additional cost, which was not the case for all of our other quotes, and gifted us shutters of our choosing as a thank you for our business. Overall, the craftsmanship displayed by the entire team (roofing, siding, gutters) was exceptional and I'm already recommending them to friends and family.

We used LA designs to fix the ceiling due to a water leak from the above unit. Larry literally showed up a few minutes after my call, explained the areas that would need to be addressed and gave me an estimate that I was happy with. The workers showed up on time on the scheduled date and were really courteous. They covered all our furnitures, did the necessary repairs, painted and then took all the debris. The ceiling looks great and it was a really pleasant experience! I will definitely use them again.

We used LA Design to build us a walk in closet in our master bedroom. Not only did it come out fantastic but working with them could not have been a more positive experience. Everything that they told us they followed through on. My husband called them several times throughout the project day and evening and they always were either available or called us back right away. They were professional showing up on time every day and the work they did was really outstanding. The closet came out great and it looks as though it was always a part of the room.
